I am Philney. Here's a look at local sports in Southwest Wisconsin. Local basketball
results from last night. Sholesburg got the win over Riverdale in a high scoring boys
game. 73 70. Bevin Dennis had 33 points for Riverdale. Henry drone added 12 and Owen
Blankenship 11 at Ithaca last night. Belmont held off the Bulldogs 62 51. The Bulldog
boys were led by senior Devon I'm with 15 and junior Caden Keller added 11 at Hillsboro
last night. Hillsboro lost to Westby final score 63 to 47. New Lisbon handed Weston
a loss 70 to 47. Isaac Jennings led Weston with 20 eight and hair added 19 for New Lisbon.
The forest was a winner over Sun Prairie 64 40 Dodgeville 79 Highland 53 Iowa Grant 75 52
over Benton, Peccatanica 68, Boschabell 48 and Seneca over Brookwood 64 to 59. Now looking
at the girls basketball hoop action last night. Belmont was a winner over Ithaca Weston
69 42. Brookwood 48, Seneca 40. Westby beat Hillsboro 64 60. Cubicity 75 69 over Belville.
New Glares 46 Iowa Grant 39 and Royal Beat LaFarge 64 to 22. Looking at tonight's schedule
wrestling season gets underway locally. River Valley will have its annual triangular with
mineral point and Cubicity. Wayans begin at four today and then the match between Cubicity
and mineral point starts at five. Cubicity wrestles River Valley at 630 and mineral point
wrestles River Valley in a match set to start at eight o'clock this evening. Wrestling
action will get underway for Riverdale. Beginning on Friday night, they will host Boschabell
and Dodgeville at Riverdale High School. Boys basketball on the schedule for this evening
games include Bangor at Arcadia. Kikapoo is playing at Cashton locally as well. It's LaFarge
at Wadiwak Center, Richland Center at Varroqua. River Valley at Wisconsin Heights, New
Lisbon visits DeSoto. River Ridge at North Crawford, Barrelboo at Sparta, Southwestern
at Wazika Stuban. Galena hosting Cubicity, Lancaster at East Dubuque, and Phenomore visits
Prairie Dushin. On the girls basketball schedule, Phenomore at Prairie Dushin, Wisconsin Heights
at Madison Country Day. Other girls games, Barnivalde at Black Hawk and Bangor at Aquinas.
Also Mount Hora Place at McFarland, Highland at Potosi Castville. Adams friendship travels
to Poignette, Sock Prairie at Redsburg, Boschabell at Seneca, Belmont at Scholesburg, Portage at
Stoughton. New Lisbon at Weston, Ithaca, that game will be played at Weston High School
tonight. Varroqua travels to Dodgeville and also in girls' action, North Crawford is
at Richland Center and River Valley at Riverdale. We'll be on hand for that local matchup tonight.
I asked Riverdale head coach Larry Swigham how the season is gone thus far.
We're pretty happy with where we're at. We're three in one and we've led by at least 12 points
in every one of the games. So we've started fast. We did that game get away from us.
When we played down at Pfizer against Boschabell, credit to them they had nine three pointers
in the second half and we didn't quite adjust the way we wanted to but in a young season
that's kind of to be expected. Overall, we bounced back the next night against North Crawford
and held a 23 point first half lead. So overall, we're pretty happy with where we're at.
We're excited to get to the point in the season now where we have multiple practices before each
game and get a chance to scout and keep working on ourselves. So I asked Larry about tonight's
opponent, River Valley. They're tough. They're physically tough. I mean a lot of
a lot of the girls they're not afraid to get on the ground. They really watched I watched
the patosi film. They really crashed the offensive rebound off into boards hard and really beat
them up there and they go pretty deep. They got a variety. They got a freshman coming off the
bench right now scoring five of a game. They've got seniors leading the team with 14 of game.
That Meyer girl, she is tall and she's going to be a force. I know she's averaging over 11 boards
of game in nine points. They've got death and they play really, really hard. So it's going to be a
great match up for us. River Valley coach Joe Woodhouse said the season goal is to be in every game.
That's our goal is to compete every night and stuff like that and just kind of change
expectations here and now last year was hey, we need to start playing hard and basketball and
pushing ourselves and now it's let's take the next step and stuff like that and now we want to
compete with those top teams in conference and that's kind of where we got to at the end of
the last year with even Prairie at the end of the season. We've pushed them in that regional
semi final and they kind of early in the season. We really struggled with them and one of our
earlier games down there pregame time at 715 tonight on WRC O FM 100.9 and WRC O dot com bowling

Wizards last night dropping a 129 126 decision. That was Milwaukee's eighth defeat in the last nine
games. Kevin Porter Jr. connected on five of six three pointers and scored a game high 30 points
Yana Santa Ducuba at 26. The Bucks led by three points entering the final quarter but couldn't
hold on to the lead. The next game is at home against the pistons. Detroit was winning over Atlanta

and the Lakers 108. The Packers have been established as six and a half point favorites for Sunday's
game against the Bears at Lambo Field. The Bears are tied with the Rams and Seahawks for the best
record in the NFC at nine and three. Green Bay is a half game back in the NFC North standings.
The final result may come down to turnovers. The Chicago defense is best in the league at causing
and Green Bay is tops at protecting the ball. Drake May passed for two touchdowns and the
New England Patriots became the first NFL team to reach 11 wins with a 33 15 victory over the
Giants last night. It was the 10th straight win for the AFC leading Patriots. The franchise's longest
streak since winning 10 consecutive games in 2015 Wisconsin will host first and second round NCAA
Regional volleyball matches beginning Thursday night. The Badgers are seated third in the Texas
Regional and they meet Eastern Illinois in the first round. This is the 13th straight season
that head coach Kelly Sheffield's program has qualified for the postseason. The Badgers completed
the regular season with a 24 and four record closing with a nine match winning streak. I am
