I'm Phil Ney with Southwestern Wisconsin Sports. The season begins tonight for the Richland
Center Hornet Boys basketball team. Their coach again this year, my Brian Poles, and I
ask him about the first week of the season for the boys as they were practicing and scrimmaging.
Well, been really happy with with practices. You know, we're experiencing something new.
You know, our numbers have been have been really good the last couple of years. This year
very much so we have we have 41 boys out for the the program 9 through 12, which is a blessing
and it also brings with it, you know, some challenges just logistically, you know, we're all in the
gym sharing that same space. So when you've got 41 compared to, you know, 28 29, that that makes
a big difference. But a great problem to have. So just trying to, you know, put together practice
plans that, you know, keep everybody working hard with with all those numbers. But as far
as the first week goes, I thought we had a couple of really good nights of practice.
You know, we we've got a good a large group of seniors and juniors. So we've had kids that have
been in the program for a number of years now that are providing good leadership. And just I
was happy with how the first week went and we're looking to jump into the games here real quick.
What did you learn at the scrimmage on Friday night in Toma? I think first and foremost, we learned
that we're not there with our conditioning, which, you know, I kind of I knew that a little bit
going in, but it's it's good to, you know, nail that down and see. So we'll we'll be able to focus
on that. The scrimmage is interesting, you know, as I mentioned, we have, you know, 15 kids and
to be able to mix the groups was something that I've never really had the benefit of doing before.
So we got a lot of good experience mixing up the combinations. I think I saw what I expected out
of our of our group that has been with us a year over a year mixing in some of the the new faces
at that at that level, at that speed, that varsity level, that varsity speed, it was really great
experience from them. Overall, it was really happy with how it went.
Virtual Center boys basketball coach Brian Poles will have the action tonight on WRC,
OFM 100.9 and wrco.com tip off time slated for around 715 Royal and Ithaca open up tonight at Ithaca.
Madhora is at River Valley as the black hawks play host to a tough one tonight and Riverdale will be
at Highland. That's varsity only no JV boys tonight. Seven o'clock start time at the Cardinal's home gym.
Moscow plays at Schoesburg, Phenomore at River Ridge, Barnabelle at Lancaster,
Wonywak Center visits Weston Hillsboro at Kickapoo again that will get underway tonight at six o'clock.
Viroqua at Cashton, Brookwood at LaFarge, Southwestern in our Gile and Parkview at Pecatonica,
abundant life place at Wisconsin Heights and Portage at Barrow Boo.
In Girls Basketball, basketball defeated Riverdale, 60 to 54. The game was played in Milwaukee at
Fyseur Forum. The two SWA HL rivals had a very competitive game. The Bulldogs were let in scoring by
Avery Updike with 20 points, Kylie Johnson at 13 and Maya Balmeister with 11. Macy McKay had 20
to lead Riverdale and Bailey Harris added 16. Both teams will be in action tonight with the Bulldogs
Hosting Richland Center Riverdale taking on North Crawford as well. The Riverdale and Boschabell
boys basketball teams will get the chance to play at Fyseur in January. In other games last night,
Ithaca Weston enjoyed a win over 1-1 center, 46-44, New Lisbon 42, LaFarge 32, Highland 40,
Seneca 26, Phenomore 53, River Ridge 26, Clinton 62, Wisconsin Heights 57, Bellville 43,
Belmont 31, Albany 62-31, over Iowa Grand. Other Girls Games this evening, including
Darling Tintland Caster, Middle Point at Dodgeville, Hillsboro at Kikapoo,
Cashton at Verokwa, DeSoto at Brookwood, Luther visits Bangor, Berlin at Mauston, Tomad
Readsburg, Nakusa visits Wisconsin Dells, also Portage at Barobu, G-E-T visits Sparta.
In major bowling league action from last night's Series High Cardinal C-G with a 35-55 Vanity
Fur grooming a 35-15 and Frazier Home Improvement 34-18. High game honors Cardinal C-G at 12-51, Vanity
Fur grooming a 1200-6, Frazier Home Improvement and 11-96. Top Series Todd Gruber 93 over average with
a 7-17, Dan Schweinefus a 6-99, Colton Bartel 103 over average with a 661 Series good enough for
third best. And the high game honors went to Dan Schweinefus with a 279, Todd Gruber runner-up
with a 269 and Terry Wheaton had a 258 in major bowling league action. The box losing streak is
now at five games. As their season woes continue following a 115-103 defeat at the hands of the
Portland Trailblazers. Bobby Portis led Milwaukee and scoring with 22 off the bench. Portland led
most of the way, built a big lead early in the fourth, then survived a box rally. Miles Turner
posted a double double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Bobby Portis talked of the losing streak.
Nobody wants to feel sorry for you, so just like you're doing the things that you do on a daily
basis, same routine, don't change up your issue routine, keep the same routine, keep the same,
I'm swag, keep the same energy, be you every day, and then things start to turn around,
you know, just because things aren't going great now, it doesn't mean that in the near future,
we want to go on a five-game win streak, just a game win streak. Dan Coach, Doc Rivers was asked,
what's the problem? Clearly ball movement, because I think right now we're easier to guard with
trying to run too many picking roles, we're trying, we don't get off the ball. So yeah,
we're thinking about it, we know what we need to do, we just got to be able to execute it.

Sacramento beat Minnesota 117 112. Last week's 28 point loss to Brigham Young University
has knocked the Badgers out of the Associated Press College basketball pole.
Wisconsin had been listed in the top 25 for that pole, and the USA today coaches pole,
it appears in neither this week. Coach Greg Guards team did get enough votes to rank
26th, but the polling doesn't go that far. The Packers are three point underdogs in their
Thanksgiving Day matchup with the Lions tip off a set for 1 p.m. Green Bay won the first time
the two teams played in the season opener by a 27 13 score. A dominant defensive effort
helped the Packers get by Minnesota Sunday 23 6. Josh Jacobs missed the game and has him
been cleared for Thursday's game yet. Christian McCaffrey had a big night in his first game against
Carolina since the Panthers traded him to San Francisco three years ago. McCaffrey gained 142 yards
from Scrimmage and scored a touchdown to help the 49ers beat the Panthers 20 to 9 on Monday night.
He helped the Niners overcome 300ceptions in the first half by Brock Perty.
