Good morning with a look at sports on WRC-OF-N and WRC-O.com, I'm Adam Hess.
Today is the State Cross Country Meet with a preview.
Here's WRC-O's Phil Ne.
The WIA State Cross Country Meet begins later today, National Anthem in 1130.
Teams begin running at noon today with the boys' portion of the tournament and Division
3 boys run at noon.
Division 2 at 1235, Richland Center, Ithaca will be a part of that field and I talk to coach
Eric Mindham this week as his team was preparing for today's meet.
We've made sure to carve out time at the end of practice every night this week for any
new tips, any fresh information, anything new that they might remember from the last two
times they've run it.
So we'll be able to look at some drone footage actually of the course ahead of time so
that again we just try to make it as familiar as possible for those that haven't run it
before.
It's been an exciting week.
I know the community has reached out to you guys and I think right now it's just a
good time to be a Richland Center Ithaca runner, isn't it?
It feels like it.
We've been blown away with the support schools put on some great pepper alleys this morning.
The community we've seen the signs up, billboards, you name it.
So I think these guys feel really supported right now which is really big as they go put
on a good representation for our community.
We've looked at some of the times from some of the other sectionals and not that you
don't run them on paper but it looks somewhat favorable for you, doesn't it?
I think so.
I think we can stack up really well.
The boys that moved up the rankings all year in fact they just had a fresh refresh or
refresh on it this week and moved up to third in the rankings.
So 16 team race.
I think a lot of the other coaches have looked at our team and seen some talent, some things
that we thought were going to happen this year and we've done a good job executing.
Certainly some stalwarts there to contend with.
Colors been a three time in a row here state champ once a division two in our race and
the two previous years down a division.
Shorewoods of perennial power, they're always in the mix, maybe on paper, the team to beat.
But we feel like if we bring it, if we have our best race, we're just going to let things
fall where they are and we think we've got a shot.
Comes down to all that practice time this year, you know and all the hours in the off season
as well and I know you kind of know what you have in the reserve as a runner and looking
for that kick at the end.
But again, when you finish on a hill, I would guess it's a little bit different energy
you need to finish.
Isn't it?
I think so.
I think if you're pushing it enough, your legs probably will go numb and you won't feel
it.
So it may as well run faster anyways.
But it's pretty incredible.
Obviously the largest spectator race that we have this year.
So there's very few spots on the course where you're alone as a runner.
So coming up that hill, yeah, it's challenging, yeah, it's difficult, but it's overwhelming.
Listen to the crowd as you run up through and just it kind of pulls the end of the finish
there.
That's awesome.

Towards Academy 28, Alieba Strum, 8, Cashton 34, Black Hawk, Warren, Illinois 28, Potosi
a big win over Johnson Creek, 48, 28, all in D7.
In Division 6, Garlandon 35, Phenomore 6, it was a win for Bellville overcrant in 38, 36,
Madovie 41, Bangor 12 and Regis with a victory over Fall Creek, 23, 22.
In D5, Stratford overperry to Sheen 28, 21, number 1, Tomahawk with a 34 to 12 win over
Spencer Columbus, Catholic.
In Division 4, it was a big win for Baldwin Woodville over Platonville 61, 27, number
1 Aquinas, no trouble with Ossiola 49 to 7, little shoot 49 West Salem 20, and a victory
for Racine St. Catharines over Lake Mills 12 to 6.
In Division 3, Mounthor and Barnabelle over Burlington 42, 14, Catholic Memorial defeated
LaCrosse Logan 31, 22, P. Wauke 24 on Alaska 21, and Reedsberger winner 20 to 12 over Edgewood.
Division 2 River Falls 50, LaCrosse Central 24, and it was Ashkosh North with a win over
New Richmond 42, 36.
Eight player, level 3 football, Gilman shut out North Crawford 36 to nothing, and Oakfield
over Sevastopol 38 to nothing.
High school volleyball playoffs continue tonight with the sectional championships all
matches at a neutral site starting at 7 p.m.
Highland will take on Newman Catholic, and that's a Division 5 matchup.
Pecatownica and St. Ambrose will battle at Barnabelle, Highland and Newman Catholic
at Riverdale.
In Division 4, Blair Taylor will face off against Fenimore at Arcadia.
Division 3's at Richland Center, its Marshall versus Luther, Division 2, Catholic Memorial
and Sock Prairie at Portage, and the high school soccer sectional championships continue
today as well.
Division 4, its living word Lutheran against Madison Country Day co-op, its at the Madison
Country Day school, and Division 3, Edgewood and McFarland at McFarland.
