The WIA State Cross-Country Meet is a real spectacle.
So many schools, so many teams representing all parts of the state are there
from the WIA Todd Clark talked about the event.
Yes, any state tournament where you have an individual component to an event,
you're going to have a lot more such as individual wrestling and track and field and cross-country
because that individual component enhances the team environment as well.
This has really grown Wisconsin Rapids. They've been a great host for this event over the year 17th.
They certainly have and it's been here ever since I've been here, so that's 26 years.
So, always friendly people. They've got the course marked well.
We set up about two, three days in advance and everything runs like a top.
The Executive Director of the WIA Todd Clark.
During the day on Saturday, WIA Girls Division 3 results.
Darlington won the team title. Their fastest runner was Brianna Vasquez,
who was 9th overall. Adelaide Brigette was 10th.
Elena McGowan 13th and Madison Malacca was 26th.
The Federal War Girls finished 5th.
Carol Cartman was 14th. Natalie Horsefall 16th. Kylie Mom 24th.
And Julia Ganaga was 43rd.
Turning to Division 2, Mount Horab was the top girls team.
Just getting by McFarland in the running.
And individually, we had a couple of runners from the area, including River Valley's Molly Mace,
who was 76th overall.
The sophomore running the event in 2055.
And Alia Swem of Eroqua, a sophomore, ran it in 2052.
Turning to Division 3, boys, the top team was St. Ambrose Academy.
Brookwood was 6th. Cooper Powell was the 7th fastest runner at the event.
Running it in 1843. August Rechheim was 14th.
Sawyer-Stanerson was 38th. And Nolan Wadell was 55th.
And the Federal War boys finished 12th.
Bobby Schmidt was 17th. Griffin 547th.
Avery Rubish was 57th. And Riley Horsefall 63rd.
And then for the WIA cross country, boys, Division 2 teams.
Shorewood was the top team. Followed by Kohler.
Asiola was 3rd. Notre Dame 4th.
Ford Atkinson 5th.
Austin was 6th. And Richland center, Ithaca finished 7th.
Owen Dreyer finishing in the top spot.
19th overall. The Hornet struggle with injuries down the stretch.
At a 16-56 for Owen, Clayton Lee was 26th with the time of 17-14.
Also, Ryan Stadler was 40th with the time of 17-40.
And Robert Budden was 50th overall with the time of 17-51.
Those three seniors in freshman Owen Dreyer were the scores for Richland center Ithaca,
which again finished 7th. Following the meet, I spoke with head coach Eric Mindham.
I thought that we got out quick, got out patients, settled in right where we needed to be.
Through that first mile, we're kind of right where we wanted to be as a team.
And the course gets tough that second and third mile.
So we faded a little bit. But overall, I thought we did handle the course really well.
You know, a lot of these teams get to come up here and race this course every year.
And we've got a couple guys that have been able to do that.
But for the rest of the guys, I thought we handled it pretty well.
And just proud of them, proud of the hard work this season thought they did well.
Big finish and I was watching some of those times come in.
You know, Shorewood is up there. Collar.
I mean, they ran some amazing races today, didn't they?
They absolutely did. I mean, Collar showed why they're three time defending champ in Shorewood.
You know, why they got pushed up to Division 1 here recently.
So those are teams that are in that mix every year.
I'll see all those in that mix too. They're 10 straight years at state.
So, you know, those are the teams to beat.
Richland Center, Ithaca Head Coach, Eric Mindenham.
Again, the Richland Center Ithaca runners finish seventh as a team in the WIAA Boys Division 2 Meet.

Tonight it's WIAA sectional final volleyball at Riverdale,
Chief in Sosting, number one seed, Newman Catholic, and number two seed Highland in a sectional final.
Also, it is Pecatanica and St. Ambrose battling as well.
Division 4 Blair Taylor and Phenomore meeting tonight at Arcadia Schools.
Marshall and Luther are playing tonight right here in Richland Center for the right to play at the WIAA State Volleyball Tournament.
Today in soccer, Madison Country Day co-op, defeating living word Lutheran 2-to-1,
and McFarland defeated Edgewood 2 goals to 1 in Division 3.
I school football getting into level 3 after last night's action, including Hilbert,
ending the year for Ezeka Stubenseneca 22-20,
Darlington over Phenomore 35-6, in Division 6,
Stratford got by Prairie Ducchean 28-21,
and also in Division 4 last night, it was Baldwin Woodville over Plattville 61-27.
Today at the WIAA Caction from the state, Wisconsin lacrosse over Stout 31-14,
River Falls 52, Whitewater 14, Plattville Edge, Nashkosh 21-14,
and Stevens Point over O'Clair 39-36.
Illinois was a winner over Rutgers today 35-13.
Julian Sayon passed for 316 yards in four touchdowns, as top-rated Ohio State defeated Penn State 38-14.
The buck-eyes led 17-14 at halftime, but took control in the second half.
SMU upset number 10 Miami today 26-20, the final score.
Texas quarterback Arch Manning returned from a concussion to lead the number 20 long horns
to a 34-31 victory over number 9 Vanderbilt.
The NFC North Leading Green Day Packers back home to face the Panthers tomorrow,
kickoff time is at noon, a pre-game time of 10 o'clock on WRCL.
And Shohei Otani will start game 7 of the World Series for the Dodgers against the Blue Jays,
showcasing the two-way star on the mound in the sports biggest game.
Starting Otani makes more sense for the Dodgers than using him in relief.
The Dodgers are getting set to try and salvage a game after getting a win last night,
forcing a game 7 of an exciting World Series.
