It was a great weekend for local runners.
The Richland Center Ithaca Boys team makes it to Wisconsin Rapids State Meet coming up
this Saturday with an outstanding effort.
Freshman Owen Dreyer with a time of 1559 led the sectional and RCI runners.
Clayton Lee finished third overall in the meet and second fastest for the Hornets.
Ryan Stadler with 6th, Robert Budden 11th, Kiernan Culver 18th, Sam Jones 20th, and
Brace and Garcia Bowlin was 32nd for Richland Center Ithaca, which edged Boston.
A dodgel mineral point was the third place team.
Also Molly Mace of River Valley makes it to state tournament with a 9th place finish
in the girls running.
Following the meet on Friday night, I spoke with Eric Minnam, Richland Center Ithaca
head coach of the cross country team.
Yeah, when you have guys teammates that even if they don't show up on the scorecard, they're
pushing the guy in front of them, or they're jumping in ahead of somebody from another
team pushing that team's score up, so it all adds up at all counts.
Looking at some of the scores, man, Owen Dreyer, your freshman, that's an incredible score
to take first place, isn't it?
Yeah, to have a freshman step in and compete the way he does is just beyond impressive.
I was looking through the results, and if you take Owen out at senior, senior, junior,
junior, junior, senior, and so on, and have a freshman come in and compete with those
older kids like that, just speaks to the level of talent and the hard work that he puts
in all year long.
I mean, said your upper classmen did very well, too, didn't they?
They did.
Equately in Ryan Stadler, this will be their third trip to states.
They're guys that always race well this time of year and put it together when it counts
the most, and Robert Budden and Karen and Culver seniors as well.
They made a lot of sacrifices in the off season and during the season just to get to this
position and really happy for those guys felt like they ran a really great race today,
too.
Well, history making you told me had been since 1972 for Richland Center the last time
a team went to state, right?
That's right.
Yeah, so 53 years, that's quite a while ago.
That's something, is there a boys team is kind of been on the hospital last few years
that we've talked about that it's been a long time and we felt like this group, a senior
class, especially had the talent to do it is really just a matter of putting in the work
in the off season and staying healthy and executed that would accounts.
Well, you've had individuals there, but having the whole group there, it's a whole different
practice this week, isn't it?
Oh, absolutely.
Yeah, it's going to be fun this week where normally it's just about a guy or two or three
if you're lucky and you know, have a whole team there that's got something to compete
for, something to, you know, go and work for and they're already talking about their
goals for this next week and hoping that they can put together a good race in the state
championship.

On Saturday at Prairie Dushin, among the runners in division three from the area, Riverdale's
Melody Williamson finished 33rd and Mallory Meas 43rd.
The top overall runner was Elizabeth Curtis of Westby as she advanced to the state tournament.
Some good times overall at the meat.
Overall the team winner for the girls was Darlington and Phenomore was the runner up.
So those teams will be going to state and Brookwood was first place for the boys at Prairie
Dushin and Phenomore was second.
Boschabell's Baudi bright advances with the fourth place finish as well.
Kipton Brown had an 11th place finish for Boschabell on Saturday and Landon Tergasen
finished 12th for the Kickaboo Farge boys.
North Crawford Sam Noble was eighth Riverdale's Wyatt Schram was their top runner with a 40th
place finish.
Clark Joseph and 84th, Kalen Williamson 85th and Dylan Topper 92nd at the meat held on Saturday.
Well volleyball action.
We saw several teams see their season end on Saturday night as well in those regional
championship games.
Richland Center was swept by Luther.
It was also a mineral point getting a 3-1 win over River Valley in Division 3 action.
Division 4 Phenomore advanced after a 3-set win over Bangor and it was a win for cashed
and over Brookwood in five sets.
Island 3-1 over 1-1 walk center also it was a win for Dushoto over Royal by Sweep as
the pirates knocked off the number one seeded Royal Panthers in action on Saturday night.
And in soccer the Richland Center boys traveled to Amherst where they lost eight to nothing
Amherst advances in the tournament and Brookfield Academy won at River Valley.
Three goals to one.
All two high school football games this weekend, Black Hawk War and will play cashed in.
Potosi Castville, Johnson Creek was Eka Stuban advances after a win over Ithaca.
They will play at Hilbert this weekend.
In Division 6 Bangor will be at Mundovi, Darlington will host Phenomore and Belleville will
be at Crandon and in Division 5 football second round games.
Prairie to Sheen advances to play at Stratford.
Stratford the team that defeated Richland Center Friday night, 41 to 9 and also advancing
to the tournament a little bit deeper from the River Valley regional the other night.
It was Durand Arkansas winning 40 to 21.
They'll play Gransburg in the next round.
New Glares advances to face the Racine Lutheran team at Racine Lutheran on Friday night.
Aquinas will play Oceola W. LaCrosse coming up on Saturday.
So Plattville will be at Baldwin Woodville and West Salem will play little shoot.
Readsburg advances to play Edgewood coming up during the second round of the WIA football
playoffs.
The second half belong to the Packers in a 35-25 win in Pittsburgh last night.
Jordan Love won the Battle of the Quarterbacks by completing 29 of 37 passes for 360 yards
and three touchdowns.
Two of the scores went to tight end Tucker Kraft who caught seven passes for 143 yards.
Green Bay had trailed at halftime 16 to 7.
The defense sacked former Packer quarterback Aaron Rogers three times.
The Carolina Panthers visit Lambo Field coming up for the next Packer game.
Lincoln Parsons was asked about what he and Aaron Rogers talked about.
Parsons says he was getting double and triple teamed, but he should have done better.
I know I can still beat that.
I got to find a way to make an impact or at least do my job.
Even if I am getting double and triple, I got to keep the edge.
It's just hard.
When you have just standing for yourself, it's like at least you got that.
It's just not good enough for me.
I feel like I'm letting my brothers down.
I shouldn't have got the game ball.
I gave it away.
I'm not going to say to who, because I felt like he deserved it, but it just wasn't my
night.
By the way, he gave it to Roshan Gary.
Going to the game, that was one of our goals.
Just trying to make it hard from the Sears Reads, making a move around the line of pocket.
Like I say, he's a Hall of Famer.
You give him time in the pocket to bat the ball down, or pat the ball.
He's going to give his playmakers an opportunity to make plays, so he's got to find a way
when you do hold onto the ball to get there, even if you don't get there, get him off
a spot.
Like you said, so he's just being consistent playing as one.

The buck suffered a defeat for the first time this season, dropping a 118-1-13 game in
Cleveland.
Yannis-Hounts at a Cumpo put up a double double with 40 points and 14 rebounds.
