I am Phil me with a look at Southwestern Wisconsin sports tonight in soccer Richland Center is at River Valley as teams close out the last games of the regular season for fall sports with the W.I.
A tournament beginning next week. Likewise for volleyball final matches of the regular season Richland Center hosts landcaster this evening will be on hand for that match at Richland Center high school Dodgeville plays at River Valley.
Middle point at Riverdale North Crawford at Ithaca for senior night for the Bulldogs and kick up who is at Wasika Stuben cross country action conference meets tonight.
The Ridge and Rivers at DeSoto cross country action at Cuba City for the SWAL and conference for the Southwest conference will be at Plantville.
I talk to Richland Center Ithaca cross country coach Eric Minnam about the conference race.
Yeah we had down to Plantville on Thursday. We saw the course a couple of weeks ago so no surprises there. We're hoping we're running our best. The way the boys team has been running we feel like we have a strong shot to compete for a conference title.
We just got to do what we've done all year which is get out fast and stick and just keep pushing the base there. On the girls side we've got a few girls that have potential to be all conference runners.
We just got to make sure we're healthy and ready to go on Thursday and we'll see what the results are. We've run well this year. We just have it all run well at the same time there so we're really hoping we can put together our best race.
Richland Center Ithaca has been challenged by other conference teams such as Dodge Point this year.
We have. Yeah if we go back to middle of the season the basketball night race. I think we maybe only had them by a couple points or something like that. It wasn't much.
And they've gotten better since then and so have we so we think it's can be a really good battle with those guys and you know they're the team that's been there and done that.
We just haven't gotten over the hump in previous years and but we're we're expecting to this year we've got the experience we've got the talent we just have to put on our best race and run our race and see what the results fall.
Will a lot of these teams from the conference be involved in the sectional the following week.
I think about half the teams from our conference are heading up north to Wisconsin Rapids River Valley certainly will be there and Dodge Point as well.
I think the Lancaster girls might be a big well for I apologize but yeah we're going to see some familiar faces again up north when we go to Wisconsin Rapids for sectionals.

Some other notes on sports it was an exciting one last week as new glare has got the win against River Valley 32 31 in high school football.
The Black Hawks battled all the way and that came back to score a touchdown with 13 seconds left and chose to go for two and the win.
I talked to head coach Tyler McLean this week about that choice.
Right at the end there I felt like we had kind of just regained momentum back.
You know our defense was doing a decent job but they were kind of struggling a little bit too on that end.
You know we had the full support of my coaching staff some of the players were on to go for two as well.
You know when you can always look at hindsight 2020 maybe you wish you had a better call and all that stuff forward as well.
But at the same time too in the back of my mind I also know we had a pretty good kicker as well and run.
So at the same time if you know we didn't convert that to a point we obviously get the onsite kick and you still give us a really good chance of winning that game.
Yeah and you did get the onsite kick I presume that's one that you've practiced a bit.
Yeah we do practice that quite a bit.
You know we won rounds available and we can use them and all that stuff we do not do in soccer.
But we still practice it without them as well.
It's something that we've kind of executed every week.
First time we tried to pull it out and it was awesome to kind of see the high level of execution we had there on Friday night.
River Valley coach Tyler McLean his team will close out to the regular season with a game against Dodgeville on Friday night.
And the Riverdale Chiefs played well against one of the Southwest Conference area and states.

You know the coordinators did another really nice job of preparing for this.
We talked all week about upsets we talked all week about possibilities and that you know they started as a good team and they're still a good team.
And we started out maybe not as much confidence as a team but look where we are now we're a good team too.
And I really think we proved that.
We battled them hard in the first quarter.
Came out in the second quarter scored three times.
Missed a couple of extra points.
But I really felt we battled the entire game against one of the top teams in the state.
Give out a game ball or game balls for that in an effort.
You know we talked about that as coaches who is the player of the game.
You know sometimes you give awards for turnovers and touchdowns I always call it.
But pretty unanimous agreement with a staff at that breaking goodwiler.
Offensive guard and nose guard defense just played a tremendous game on both sides of the ball.
I think 11 tackles and tackles for loss and 9 solo tackles and we just created tremendous havoc for their offense.
Pushed a quarter back out of the pocket several times.
He was one of our players of the game.
Riverdale will close out the season with a game against Iowa Grant on Friday night.

Lots of volleyball senior nights tonight, North Crawford at Ithaca, Kikapood was Hika
Stuban, Middlewood Point plays at Riverdale, Dodgeville River Valley, and Lancaster at
Richland Center, Hornets and Coach Jamie Johnson hoping to wind up the regular season
on a good note.
We'll focus on Lancaster and senior night hopefully in a good fashion, so it's really proud
this group.
You know, again, hit that 20 wind total, you know, we have an outside chance to get into
25 winds this year, which is a really great season in any year, so we're excited about
those opportunities and again, the confidence and the way they're playing is really well
right now.
