In the morning and setting sooner, still today, it is going to be a hot day and feeling like
summer in some ways. High temperatures close to 90 degrees this afternoon, which of course is
way above average and much of Wisconsin and the upper Midwest will be near or above record
high temperatures today. The wind today will be out of the south, gusting up to about 25 miles per
hour. So that's one part in our area being warmer, well above average. Also, there is an upper level
ridge that extends up into Canada that's allowing that hotter air to flow in from the south.
Looking ahead, the next couple of days are going to be quite warm and summer-like. Then we will
have a change with a cold front passing through that front coming through Sunday night and Monday
bringing us a potential for some showers and thunderstorms. It'll be nice to have at least a
splash of rain. In the wake of the front, more typical for October, though still a little bit
above average with highs in the low-to-mid 60s and overnight lows in the 30s to 40s, we could have
our first frost the season midweek next week, even then though it looks like just more like areas
of frost for at least southwest Wisconsin. So for today, near 90, mostly sunny south winds
gusting up to 25 miles per hour. Tonight, mainly clear a low-round 62. And then Sunday, a tad cooler,
though still plenty warm, highs around 85, mostly sunny to part the cloudy sky, winds out of the
south gusting up to 30 miles per hour. In the late afternoon, a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms,
Sunday night as the cold front approaches a 50% chance of showers and storms. Some areas could
pick up a 10th or two of rain with lows around 55. And Monday, a 50% chance of showers and storms
passing from west to east through the area highs around 67. Maybe some areas picking up over
quarter inch on Monday, Tuesday, some showers lingering early, then partly cloudy to mostly sunny
a high-round 65, Wednesday, starting in the upper 30s, sunshine up to 66. I'm meteorologist Nick
Grunzuth for WRCO. I hope you have a wonderful day.

There are three area high school football games today.
North Crawford is at Highland, Black Hawk Warren at Peccatonica Argyle,
and coming up this afternoon at 230, Royal Plays at Ithaca.
The Panthers are coached by Josh Bord.
Wouldn't put a name on anybody I got,
because we don't have any standout.
We're all decent, and all of us have to play a decent game for us to be in it.
From the Bulldog standpoint, they're preparing for homecoming.
Here's co-head coach David Clayton.
It'd be kind of our last homecoming with just strictly Ithaca before we co-op next year.
And either we could be potentially our last home game of the year.
So it's really huge for us, and hopefully that kind of adds some motivation.
And hopefully we have a huge crowd there,
and that we play really well, and kind of use that as kind of momentum,
and during the game, and kind of get us through that kind of crazy week.
Pre-game time had to o'clock this afternoon, kick off time to 30,
as the Bulldogs play host to Royal on FM100.9 and WRCO.com. I am Phil Me.

The Town Taxi Triple Plays.
Make sure to make you a gentle man's wife.
The Town Taxi Triple Plays.
Well, I measure people, don't understand.
The pleasures of life and a hill believe me.
I got my first guitar when I was 14.
Now I'm crowding 30.
Still wearing jeans.
A man, the light of my life.
Fates should make you a gentle man's wife.
A man, the light of my life.
Fates should make you a gentle man's wife.
A man, the light of my life.

The living women in music, it's songs with women's names in the title.
Boy, you couldn't do a song with women's names if you didn't bring on the Everly Brothers.
It's a classic wake up little Susie.
What are we going to tell your father?
What are we going to tell our friends when they say,
Ooh, light, light, wake up pretty Susie.
Wake up pretty Susie.
Will I talk to Mama that you'd be invited?
Will Susie baby look like we do again?
Wake up pretty Susie.
Wake up pretty Susie.
We gotta go home.
Wake up pretty Susie.
Wake up pretty Susie.
Wake up pretty Susie.
The movie wasn't so hot.
You didn't have much of a plot.
We fell asleep by a goose's hook.
I ran to the station, he shot like a police Susie.
Wake up pretty Susie.
Will, what are we going to tell your mother?
What are we going to tell your father?
What are we going to tell our friends when they say,
Ooh, light, light, wake up pretty Susie.
Wake up pretty Susie.
Wake up little Susie and give town taxi a call.
You've got somewhere to be.
Probably a home, it's pretty light, right?
We are saluting women's songs and their names in the title of the song.
And we're going to wrap it up.
Oh, that Elvira.
It's The Oak Ridge Boys.
Elvira.
Elvira.
My heart's on fire.
Elvira.
I said look like heaven.
It's like terrain wine.
That broken stone will make my little eye shine.
I get a bonnet feeling.
Up and down my spine.
Cause I know that my old fire is mine.
So I'm singing Elvira.
Elvira.
My heart's on fire.
Elvira.
Gidia.
Gidia.
I'm silver and white.
Tonight I'm going to meet at the Hanger House Cafe.
I'm going to give her all the love I can.
Yes, I am.
She's going to jump and holler.
I've saved up my last $2.
We're going to search and find that preacher man.
And I'll be singing Elvira.
Elvira.
My heart's on fire.
Elvira.
Gidia.
Gidia.
I'm silver and white.
Elvira.

My heart's on fire.

WICO
Gina Lorenzo, our guest as we talk about Oakwood's customer appreciation days.
Gina, how many years have you been working here at Oakwood?
I believe it's been about nine, ten years somewhere in that vicinity.
What's your favorite part of the job?
Meeting the customers, making it a place, it's their happy place.
So they like to come here, find Wisconsin products, local products,
and to see them leave happy with their products and return.
Most people that come here probably surprise the number of products,
maybe something they wouldn't even think of, right?
They do, just like a lady this morning,
she drove from the other side of Madison,
and she says it's just so fun to come here with her friends
because they can spend hours looking.
And we always have something new, something new to try,
and it's just, like they said, it's their happy place.
And samples, too, right?
We will give them a sample of an apple,
or if we have something open,
and they want to try a mustard, or, yeah,
we would accommodate to them, make their trip worthwhile.
I talked to Sarah about this, too,
but I don't see like a lot of people at class meetings,
maybe they graduated before me or after me working here.
It's probably like, you must see people all the time, don't you?
That graduated with you or around you or whatever?
There is times we see people that we graduated with.
Sometimes I don't recognize them at first.
Most of the time they know who we are, but, yeah,
it's fun to see, especially this weekend,
with homecoming and appreciation weekend,
to see the locals come back,
because this is what they did growing up.
This is something they did with maybe their grandparents,
or their parents, and it's a fall event.
You bet. Family tradition.
What are you looking forward to the most
with customer appreciation days this weekend?
Staying busy.
Trying to keep things filled, trying to help the customer,
make their shopping trip a fun, eventful one,
and make them want to return.
I mean, telling them we're going to be here
probably up to Thanksgiving,
so we're not all about just fall, too.
Make this your Christmas destination as well.
Yeah, absolutely. Start thinking about those gifts right now.
Yes.
Well, in terms of this weekend,
there are a lot of things going on, some samples,
and that kind of thing.
Another thing that I mentioned too earlier
is the fact that so many have had their first job here.
There are a lot of high school students
that get that job here, aren't they?
Right. And it's all about experience,
being able to communicate with customers,
just a simple high, treat their product,
that they're taking home with them,
like it's the biggest treasure in the world,
then want to come back to this place
to have another great year.
So make it, yeah, a tradition.
What is your favorite apple?
Somebody's going to ask you,
what apple should I buy?
What's your favorite apple?
It depends on the type of the year.
So early in the season, it could be a gala, a blondie.
I mean, right now, that ruby rushes really good.
I do like a Portland.
If you want to make a pie or an apple crisp,
but later in the season,
maybe a crimson crisp, or an ever crisp.
Wow. Okay. I had no idea.
That was a...
Hands on the month.
Well, Gene, we appreciate your taking time to talk to us,
and we hope people will stop by and give you a hard time this weekend.
Okay. Sounds like a plan.
Thank you.
You're Gene Holdrens joining us here from Customer Preview.
