I'm Phil Nees. We take a look at sports in Southwest Wisconsin. First of all, high school activities
today, Richland Center plays soccer at Prairie Dushin and Plattville is at River Valley. Cross
country action, Prairie Dushin hosts a big meet involving many schools, including Riverdale.
And in volleyball this evening in the Ridge and Valley, western is at North Crawford.
De Soto with Kickapoo, Wozika Stupin at Ithaca and Seneca at LaFarge. Riverdale plays
volleyball at Darlington. In the Swall and in the Southwest Conference, landcaster is at
Dodgeville. Richland Center at Prairie Dushin and Plattville is at River Valley during River
Valley school fair and homecoming week. The JV match begins at 4.45 and the varsity match
set for around 6.15 this evening. It'll be a special night. River Valley volleyball usually
gets involved with a cause and they will indeed this year as well. Here is head coach Mariah Hill.
One of my best friends had preemie twin girls this year at just a little over 30 weeks.
And they were in the hospital for between 85 and 90 days. And we're just really looking to draw
awareness to premature birth and also NICU awareness kind of intertwined. And both teams will be
wearing purple. Plattville is generously purchased T-shirts and they're going to wear purple tomorrow
night will be in purple. It's always a big exciting event. We pack the gym. We do a bake sale and
50 50 raffle. We do a bucket run. And it's just going to be a really exciting fun night. Not
only a volleyball, but just to raise awareness to a great cause. That's Mariah Hill.
WRCO Sports will be there for coverage tonight of the varsity volleyball match. Again,
that will begin after the special ceremony in between JV and the varsity and the bucket run
as well. Also going on this weekend will be a number six for high school football games.
Weekend number six. Riverdale preparing for a Saturday game this weekend. They'll be playing at
Peckatonica Argyle at two o'clock Saturday afternoon. This week head coach Jeff Johnson talked
about last week's loss to a good River Ridge team. They run their stuff. It's very basic and you
know what's coming. You just got to stop it. But to hold a team like that to 30 points and you know
despite in my mind, two controversial calls wasn't going to change the outcome. It could change
the score as well. But I thought we played as well as we could have against the team at that caliber.
There were one in three coming in, but three of their losses. Again, just like us. We're ranked to
three of the top teams in the state of Wisconsin.
They think a bulldogs prepare for Nassita on Friday night.
And coach Kyle Kelly talked about last week's tough loss to Cashton.
Really kind of came down to. We had costly turnover at a pretty horrific time to have a turnover.
And then we had an opportunity to tie the game up late late in the fourth quarter and
fell about one foot short. They got the ball back and scored.
And they broke off about an 80 yard quarterback sneak. Just we kind of risked everything there.
And then we went the wrong way and they went the right way.
At this point, you worry about what you do. Probably more, don't you?
Yeah, absolutely. Like I said, we just got to fix some mistakes here there.
And they come up with a couple of different looks at our formations and see what we can capitalize on.
Here's a go ahead coach. Kyle Kelly, his team preparing for a trip to Nassita this weekend.
And we'll be watching the big Richland Center River Valley match up on Friday night.
It will be River Valley's homecoming. Richland Center coming off a loss last week to Platville.
And River Valley coming off a win against landcaster night in which they not only endured and got
by the arrows, but endured a lightning delay. And I ask Coach Tyler McLean, how the team endured that?
Definitely a factor into it. I'll give a lot of credit to our players though.
They kept the focus in the locker room there. We kind of shift around just depending on where we're
located and our guys stay focused. A lot of our senior leaders took initiative to keep guys locked
in, going through adjustments and all that. I'm really proud of those guys. I'm really handling
that adversity and handling that kind of change. I'm still being able to execute.
You're able to score some points again. Your offensive average has been pretty good this year, hasn't it?
Yeah, we've been able to put a lot of points in the board. And again, that's a credit
to all the kids putting in all the hard work all the way through practice. Again, we've been
having a lot of success up front if that's running the ball or past protection when we're at the
ball as well. Again, cut us all players for executing and looking to build off it.
Remember Valley coach Tyler McLean, his team hosts Richland Center tomorrow night in high school
football bowling scores from the merchants league last evening. Goblin insurance had a 30-28
cast in tools 28-30 premier co-op at 27-78 Goblin insurance with a 10-60 high game and a 10-49
cast in tools with a 994 and premier co-op 966. Chase Keller led the individuals with a 7-32 Jacob
Layton with a 7-10 Matt Fargeon 6-46 high game honors Jacob Layton a 298 Matt Fargeon a 257
and Chase Keller a 248 in the merchants bowling league. The Brewer's magic number is down to one
for having the best record in the national league. Wednesday afternoon's 3-1 win at San Diego
was the team's 96th victory of the season, matching a franchise record. If Milwaukee posts the
best record in the national league, it would have home field advantage in the postseason. Jackson
Cheerio took away a Padres Homer in the first inning and scored the winning run in the seventh.
And Danny Jensen came on for an insurance run with a solo home run in the ninth. Here he is
courtesy of Fan Duel Wisconsin. I was just trying to be on time with the fastball. I felt like
throughout the whole day today I was putting some pretty good swings on so I'm just feeling more
confident at the dish and then try to be on time with the fastball and got a slider kind of inner
inner half maybe and pretty good swing on it. The Brewer's have today off they will be playing
this weekend against the Cincinnati Reds in the regular season's last series of the year.
Quinn Priester who was supposed to start yesterday they gave him a day or two to rest he'll be
starting on Friday night elsewhere. Philadelphia 11 one over Miami Washington for Atlanta three

Phil Lee has a look at tonight's Sports Schedule.
The area's schedule tonight has volleyball action and soccer,
cross-country being held at Prairie Dushin, several area teams, including Riverdale,
are attending. Soccer action, Plattville is at River Valley for a homecoming soccer matchup,
and Richland Center is at Prairie Dushin. Volleyball tonight, Seneca at LaFarge,
DeSoto at Kickapoo, and Weston at North Crawford,
Stuban at Ithaca, Riverdale at Darlington, Landcaster at Dodgeville. Richland Center is at
Prairie Dushin in volleyball, and coming up, Plattville at River Valley, as they will get underway
with the varsity action in just a little bit here today. The Black Hawks rematching after losing
earlier in the conference to them, but then defeating Plattville during a weekend tournament.
Thanks Phil, and that contest between Plattville at River Valley for River Valley's homecoming
week, and that will be heard tonight, or tonight on WRCE, or WRCO 100.9 FM right here, in fact,
and the pregame will start at around 615 with Phil Lee, making the call for that game.
The brewer's magic number is down to one for having the best record in the National League,
and all of baseball. Wednesday's afternoon's 3-1 win at San Diego was the team's 96th
victory of the season, matching a franchise record. If Milwaukee posts the best record,
in the NL would have the home field advantage in the postseason. Jackson Churio took away a
Padre's home in the first inning, and scored the winning run in the seventh. Aaron Ashby earned,
and earned the win in relief. The brewers are off today, and start a season ending series against
the Reds tomorrow. Micah Parsons faces his former team as Green Bay visits Dallas exactly a month
after the Packers acquired the Star Pass Russia in a blockbuster trade with the Cowboys.
Dallas defensive tackle Kenny Clark also is facing his former team in prime time on Sunday night.
The Packers sent Clark and two first round picks for Dallas. Clark is a 2016 first round pick.
He spent his first nine seasons in Green Bay. The Dallas defense has looked vulnerable without
Parsons. The Cowboys are lasting the NFL in past defense and near the bottom in sex.
The Packers said one 300 straight games when leading by 10 or more points until Sunday. The 13-10
loss at Cleveland snapped that streak. Back in 1967, Green Bay led the Baltimore Colts by 10 points
with less than a minute to play. Johnny United threw two touchdown passes wrapped around an
onside kick to win that game nearly 58 years ago by an identical 13-10 score. The Packers went on to
win the game later and called the Super Bowl at the end of the season. The former Badgers coach and
athletic director, Barry Alvarez, has some strong words for fans shouting, fire fickle. Alvarez calls
it embarrassing and terrible saying the Wisconsin fans are spoiled rotten. The veteran football
leader says the people yelling for the coach to be fired aren't loyal and aren't fans. The incident
happened during the 27-10 loss to the Maryland Terrapins last Saturday. The Wisconsin men's basketball
team has one of the best records in the Big Ten Conference and that is translating into ticket sales.
The journal Sentinel reports that 93 percent of the season ticket holders have renewed
despite price increases. UW-WT Athletic Director Mitchell Pinta tells the newspaper that the program
hand increased prices since 2008. Student tickets went on sale on Thursday and sold out in just 10
minutes. WRCSports has been sponsored by Lakes Gas Company in taking care of your LP needs and
