Here's a look at Southwestern Wisconsin sports. I am Filney. The Ithaca Girls volleyball team won a Ridge and Valley Conference match

Three sets to one on Tuesday night at home over Weston. The scores were 25-21

25-11 with Weston winning the third set

25-22 and Ithaca taking the fourth

25-9. The Bulldogs improved to six and one in the league with more tough matches coming up in the next couple of weeks including a quad at De Soto

next Tuesday night. Ithaca was led in the opener by Brindley Wannlaus with four kills and an Ace

JC Maxwell paced the Bulldogs with four kills and four aces in the second set.

Lexi Rockweiler had four kills in the third set to lead Weston to the win

Shelby Newman had three kills and she totals 17 digs for the match.

Valerie Bauer led with assists earlier this season. She surpassed

500 digs for her high school career. Ithaca was paced by Setter Aubrey M.

Off who had two aces in the fourth and match ending set.

It was the second three sets to one win over Weston for Ithaca this season. Weston won the JV match

two sets to none over Ithaca. Last night on Parents Night at Ithaca

Coach Angie Young talked yesterday about her team leaders for Ithaca volleyball.

We have Brooklyn Dickie and Jayden Bowland who I think have done a great job just both very calm

leaders out there and very focused leaders. They really have encouraged their team and

it's an eighth job. We had some younger players through that have really stepped up.

JC Maxwell is another one just just tremendous leadership on the court encouragement and

has done a great job out there helping helping the other players and kind of guiding

them. So really happy with our leadership this year.

Here is Weston coach Maggie Lansing are talking about her leadership.

Shelby Newman and Lexi Rackweiler are our outside have definitely been our leaders

offensively and obviously with that being said that they've been our leaders Valerie Bauer

is coming off. She just last week hit her 500th assist to reverse be career so that's

always a fun a fun milestone for girls. So obviously they wouldn't be hitting the ball if

she wasn't putting it up for them to hit but defensively kind of the same with Lexi

and Shelby they leave the team in digs but serving is really where we've been most

positive this year I guess is an interesting way to put that but we consistently have more

aces than we have miss serves and our girls are really aggressive when they serve so that's

been a plus for us and that's a team effort. That's just not one or two because

anybody who watches volleyball knows that each girl only gets to serve in their

rotation so that serving is especially a team effort.
