I am Filney with a look at Southwestern Wisconsin sports, the Richland Center high school volleyball team with a pretty good day at Baraboo on Saturday. They defeated Partyville 258 and 2510.
They lost a Readsburg 2624 2426 and then lost 9 to 15 in the third set.
Toma beat Readsburg in three prior to that and then Richland Center swept Toma 2522 and 2517.
The team beat Lancaster 2521 and 2519 and then played Baraboo in the championship.
It was 2522 Richland Center, 2325 Baraboo and again Richland Center up 7-0 and 11-6 but lost 16-14 in the championship to Baraboo in volleyball on Saturday.
Elsewhere in volleyball it was Broadhead defeating Dodgeville 21. Dodgeville got by Lakeside Lutheran and Stoten 2 sets to 1.
East Troy defeated Dodgeville in the nightcap 2 to 1.
There were some football games that finished up on Saturday including Holman edging Readsburg 22 to 21.
The score was tied at 14 and half time on Friday night before it was called because of lightning and move to Saturday's game.
So that one was finished up as well over the weekend. Also in eight player football from Friday night,
Highland was a winner, 44 nothing over Kickaboo LeFarge.
Belmont 32, 1.1. West in 26 and North Crawford over Monticello by a final of 56 to nothing.
On Friday night, Platteville defeated Richland Center 47-22, River Valley with a win against Lancaster.
That game was also delayed by lightning 35 to 28. Prairie Dushin got by Dodgeville 23-21 in a late one on Friday night.
And also it was cashed in 20, Ithaca 6, Hillsboro and Royal in a good one, Royal winning 28-22.
River Ridge got the win against Riverdale 30 to nothing and Potosi Castville 16 to nothing over Boscabel.
Looking at this week's schedule setting the stage for some homecoming weeks including a big homecoming week for River Valley schools,
they will be at home against Lancaster tonight in JV football. Soccer action River Valley is at Richland Center tomorrow night.
And also it will be volleyball action coming up on Thursday for River Valley with a key conference match against Platteville.
They are planning the JV matches to start at 4.45 Thursday and the varsity to follow to make room for the homecoming events which follow volleyball.
And as mentioned, River Valley hosting Richland Center in football for what should be a really good game on Friday night.
The Richland Center sports schedule for this week the Hornets are at Platteville tonight in JV football as mentioned soccer against River Valley on Tuesday night.
On Thursday night Richland Center soccer plays at Prairie Dushin High School as does the Hornet volleyball team and the Richland Center football team is at River Valley for the Blackwarks homecoming game.
There's also a cross-country meet that will be on Saturday and that will be at Hickory Grove Golf Course in Phenomore.
There will be varsity girls volleyball at Richland Center high school on Saturday getting underway at 8.30 in the morning.
The Riverdale sports schedule there is no JV football game today. The Riverdale volleyball team will next be in action on Thursday night when they travel to Darlington and the Riverdale football team will not be in action again until Saturday when they play in the
Pekatanaca against Pekatanaca Argyle. It's Pekatanaca homecoming and that will kick off at 2 o'clock this Saturday.
For the other football dogs, their JV football game with Cashton has been postponed. There will be volleyball action tomorrow night.
Ithaca will be hosting the Weston Silver Eagles on Thursday. Ithaca will be hosting Wasika Stuben and the Ithaca football team will travel to Nisita on Friday night.
For Weston, as mentioned at Ithaca and volleyball tomorrow night and then on Thursday night they will be at North Crawford.
It will be Waniwak Weston taking on Highland and eight player football coming up on Friday evening.
Kickaboo has an eight player JV football game today. They host Highland. Also the Kickaboo volleyball team will be in action against LaFarge on Tuesday night.
They will host to Soto on Thursday before getting back to action in football on Friday with Wisconsin Heights playing at LaFarge High School against Kickaboo LaFarge.
The Brewer is clinched their fourth National Incentive Division title in the last five years. Despite Sunday's 5-1 loss at St. Louis,
Red's victory over the Cubs made that possible. Robert Gasser has absorbed the loss after his call up from Triple A Nashville and Joey Ortiz scored Milwaukee's only run on a Jackson Cheerio sacrifice fly in the 5th inning where T's had tripled.
So the Brewer is get it done and veteran Christian Yellich talked about baseball being a long haul.
This is why it's everything's hard gone throughout the year. It's why we pay attention to detail.
Why there's tough love throughout the season, why you keep grinding, why you keep trying to get better for these moments.
You know, and the fact that you can celebrate with your teammates and show them like, hey, this is why we do all that work.
And hopefully this is the first step for many more. And these are always celebrations and teams that you'll remember for the rest of your life.
