It is time for an update on sports here from Southwest Wisconsin.

I am Phil Ne.

Plattville survived a marathon, five set match, and won at Richland Center last night in

high school volleyball.

The Hillman won the first set, 25-13, and the third set, 25-10, while Richland Center won

the second, 25-19, and the fourth set, 25-22.

Plattville emerged with a 15-13 victory in the fifth and final set.

After winning the first conference set against Prairie Dushin by Sweep, the Hornets have

lost two, five set matches, one last week to Dodgeville, and then last night to Plattville.

Senior Danica Pals at 15 kills to lead Richland Center, Quinn Temperley and Saraya Stone each

had 10 kills for Plattville, which improved to three and only in the Southwest Conference.

Richland Center's JV-1 team won two sets to one, and the JV-2 team swept Plattville in

the earlier matches.

Following the five set laws to Plattville, Richland Center will travel to River Valley

on Thursday night, Plattville will host Dodgeville.

Speaking of River Valley, they were winners, three nothing over landcaster, and Dodgeville

was a winner by Sweep over Prairie Dushin in high school volleyball.

Weston fell to the Soto in three sets last night, 25-11, 25-17, 25-11, Weston will

host LaFarge and Kikapoo Thursday night in a Ridge and Valley Quad.

The Invergable dogs with a four set match win over North Crawford.

It was Seneca by Sweep over Kikapoo, in Ridge and Valley Conference action, and Wasika

Stuben got the win by Sweep over LaFarge Youth Initiative.

It was Cubicity, three sets to two over Phenomore, and a win last night for Middlewood Point

over Southwestern, three sets to two.

Hillsboro in four over New Lisbon, it was cashed in three nothing over Nassita, Royal

defeated Bangor, three sets to one, Brookwood in five sets over Waniwak Center, Westby

three nothing over Black River Falls, New Glares three sets to two over Wisconsin Heights,

Lock Prairie three nothing over Stoten, Wapaka three nothing over the Dells, and Sparta

swept Toma.

Last night, the Richland Center boy soccer team lost a Plat-Villain Caster.

It was a close match early on, Plat-Villain at half time, two to one, and then went up

by score of three to two a little bit later on with about three minutes to play, but

Plat-Villain Caster opened up with a four goal victory, six to over Richland Center.

Beathsburg five nothing over Port-H Point at, Wisconsin Dells four one over Nacusa, or

a gone defeated Baraboo two one, and Wisconsin Heights Barn of Eld over Lodi eight goals to

one.

The Ithaca football team will try to bounce back this week after a loss last week to Bangor.

I asked Coach David Kling about that game.

We had our opportunities and we knew it was going to be kind of a grind on both ends,

both kind of opponents, like their idea and our idea.

We kind of very similar, we have to have long drives and sustain them, and we sustained

one for almost an entire quarter, and they kind of did a similar thing with their first

score, and we knew points would be kind of at a premium, and we thought we had a chance,

and we just kind of swept through our fingers.

We had that great kind of score to start the second half, but then right away we gave

up a long touchdown on a kick return, and it was just kind of the difference, and we

had a shot at the end, which I mean it was kind of one of those things, we get down the

field as quick as we can with limited time and no time outs, and we gave ourselves a chance,

but we definitely had multiple opportunities, and it's one of those things, it goes one

way or the other, and it just wasn't our night.

Jharkin up for a learning experience, what do you take from the game moving forward?

I think we take from the game that we can really compete with anybody.

We knew that Bangor was going to be a really solid team, and we knew we had to be physical

with them because they were super physical, and I think back-to-back weeks we proved

that against Hillsborough and Bangor that we can play those types of physical games and

play whatever kind of style we need to win games, so that was kind of huge for us even

now, we didn't win as kind of a little bit of a moral victory.

Go ahead, football coach of Ithaca, David Klang, his team is home this weekend against

Cashton on Friday night at seven o'clock.

Baseball news from last night, all-star Freddie Peralta allowed two hits, struck out 10, and

won his nationally leading 17th game.

Kristen Nellichid is 29th home run, and drove in three runs.

The Brewers beat the Angels 9-2 last night.

Peralta now 17 and 6 extended his career high and wins, and tied the Yankees max freed

for tops in the majors in victories.

Peralta also tied the franchise record set by Zach Davies in 2017.

Peralta allowed one run on two hits over six innings, and walked to.

The only hiccups were Carter Keybombs, Bloops Single, and Denzer Goesman's first career

home run in last night's game.

Elsewhere, the Cubs were winners for one of Rapidsburg, Atlanta 6, Washington 3.

It was also Atlanta winning the night cab, 5, nothing.

The match 8, San Diego 3, St. Louis 3, nothing over Cincinnati.

Miami beat Colorado, that final score was 6-5.

Arizona 6 and Francisco 5, Philadelphia 9-6 over the Dodgers.

In the American League, athletics 2, Boston 1, Cleveland 7-5 over Detroit, Toronto 6, Tampa

Bay 5, Seattle 12-5 over the Kansas City Royals, Yankees 10-9 over the twins, Baltimore 8,

the White Sox 7, Houston 6-5 over Texas.

Packers wide receiver Jaden Reed had two surgeries yesterday, while Doctors

were repairing his broken collarbone.

They also took time to repair a fracture bone in his foot.

Packers wire reports that Reed's recovery is expected to take six to eight weeks.

That would return Green Bay's leading receiver to the lineup about week 11.

That means Reed could be about 100% for the stretch run, rather than dealing with a sore

foot all season.

The Badgers are listed as nine and a half point favorites in Saturday's home game against

the Maryland Terrapins.

The contest opens the big 10 conference season.

The return of first string quarterback Billy Edwards, Jr. could be a game time decision

as he works his way back from injury.

Edwards would be facing his former team, Maryland is undefeated.

The Badgers need a win badly because they are about to enter a brutal portion of the

2025 schedule.

At least one NBA analyst thinks the box could be better off without future Hall of

Famer, Damien Lillard.

The team will miss his scoring, but Lillard, despite his hustle, wasn't big enough to

stop some of the bigger NBA guards.

Eric name of the athletic thinks Milwaukee will be a better defensive team with Miles

Turner protecting the rim.

Guards like Kevin Porter, Jr. Ryan Rollins and Cole Anthony have the ability to improve

the back court defensive production.

They won't be able to equal Lillard's scoring though.

That's a check of sports today on WRC.

This is Phil Ne, and I hope that you have a great day in Southwest Wisconsin.
