Last night in high school football, it was New Glarius over Richland Center 25-7, River
Valley 20-17 over Prairie Dushin, Dodgeville 41-28 of a broadhead Judah, and Platteville
claim victory against Landcaster in a high scoring game, 40-38. Bangor's 16, Ithaca
8, Royal 26-23 over Brookwood, Hillsborough 53-14 against Nasida, and Wozika Seneca 44-15
over Riverdale. Eight players scores. It was a happy homecoming at Weston.
Lonewak Weston was a winner 68-13 over Monticello. North Crawford 44, DeSoto 16, and Belmont
over Kickaboo LeFarge 60-12, Highland 70, Wisconsin Heights 42. Today in football, Black
Lock Warren was a winner against Boscabel 74, nothing.
River Valley Invite Cross Country meet was held today. The boys, large varsity school
teams, DeForest was the top team, Richland Center Ithaca, with a fourth place finish
behind Middleton, Madison West, and head of Madison LaFallet, Barrow Boone, Dodgeville
Monroe Point, Monroe McFarland, and Edgewood, rounding out the top 10.
For Richland Center, Owen Dreyer was seventh in the running with a time of 16-32. Clayton
Lee finished 14th with a time of 17-06, and Ryan Stadler was 23rd with a time of 17-29.
Robert Budden 45th, and Curenen Culver was 58th. Sam Jones and Devon Woodhouse also ran
today for RCI. Also in the girls, it was St. Ambrose Academy winning as a team at the
River Valley Invite, large schools. Also there today, Riverdale, with a time of several
runners at Randwell, Riverdale's Clark Jolson for the boys with a time of 21-59 was their
top runner with a 76th place finish.
Caitlin Williamson, Dylan Topper, Hunter Rowan, and Mark Wilkie all ran that for the
Chieftains. Also today, in the results from the girls' varsity-large school and
Caster was 6th. Overall, Madison West was the top school. Also in the running today,
River Valley, Richland Center was 17th. Pearl Fretz, their top runner, the sophomore
ran the event in 22-15. Adeland Lawless was 67th overall, Ava Martin, 77th, and Lacey
Allball, 100th second. River Valley was 15th as a team. Mali Mas was 25th. Aubrey Anleker
was 56th. Leona Crome was 93rd, and Reagan Sackett was 99th. At the meet in Springgreen,
Darlington, the top girls team in the small school division. Phenomore was runner-up, and
Verrocco was 3rd. Riverdale, with a good finish at 6th. Mallory Mice was their top runner,
14th in the meet, with a time of 21-43. Melanie Williamson, with a 22-10, was 22nd, and
Olivia Mice was 30th in the running. Millie Schneider, Kayleigh Carter, and Megan Kruehl,
all ran that for the Chieftains today, at the course, at River Valley.
High school boys soccer today, River Valley, 3-nothing over Nakusa. Plattville Ancaster, a
victor against La Crosse Logan, 7-2. Barobu, 2-nothing over Toma. Jamesville Parker,
beat Portage Point at, 6-1. Richland Center playing Cedar Grove Belgium today, and no score
on that one yet. High school volleyball, it was Argyle getting a win, 2 sets to 1 over
Basque Bell. Also, they defeated Riverdale, 2-1, and 2-1 over Seneca in the meet at the
Seneca Invitational. At Lancaster today, Scholesberg, with a 2-nothing sweep of Kickapoo, River
Ridge, 2-1 over Scholesberg, Verokwa, 2-nothing over Scholesberg as well. And of the Wisconsin
Dell's Invitational, Hillsboro Volleyball, 2-1 over to Soto, and 2-1 over Tri-County.
Today in football on the college scene, the WIAC scores La Crosse 38-14 over Carnegie
Mellon. Also, Wisconsin O'Clayer 35-6 over Kenyon. Whitewater defeated Xavier by final
of 37-0, Steven's point 41-17 over St. Norbert College. Wartburg with a win against Wisconsin
stout, 16-0, River Falls 59-47 over Co-college, and North Central Illinois defeated Ashkosh 45-14.
Ty Simpson threw for 382 yards and four touchdowns, including two to returning star Ryan Williams,
number 19 Alabama overpowered Wisconsin for the second consecutive year, 38-14. Simpson
completed 24-29 passes with two of his misses being drops by Williams and freshman La Cier
Brooks. Williams finished with five receptions for 165 yards. Danny O'Neill, subbing for the
injured Badger Starter Billy Edwards, had a 41-yard touchdown pass to Jaden Ballard as well.
Aiden Burr made a 55-yard field goal as time expired in the Georgia Tech yellow jackets,
upset number 12 Clemson 24-21. In other football scores, Nebraska over Houston Christian 59-7,
Michigan beat Central Michigan 63-3, Maryland over Towson 44-17, Oragon was a winner against
Northwestern 34-14. Quinn Priester pitched five and a third strong innings to win his 12th
straight decision, and Christian Yelich homer as the major league leading Brewers snapped a three
game skid by beating the St. Louis Cardinals eight two last night. The Brewers won each of last 18
games in which Priester has pitched. Christian Yelich with a two run home run in the seventh inning,
his 28th of the year, a 432 foot blast off the center field scoreboard. Anthony Rizzo celebrated
his retirement in the famed bleachers in Wrigley Field. Quite a day Rizzo joined the Cubs as a
team ambassador and threw out a ceremonial first pitch to Cubs outfielder Ian Hap, one of his
former teammates. Then he grabbed a seat in the bleachers and left for the Cubs afternoon game
against Tampa Bay, the 36 year old Rizzo nearly hauled in a first career home run for Chicago
in the second inning, but it went off his hands. A fan next to Rizzo retrieved the ball.
The big first baseman helped the Cubs win the World Series in 2016 for the franchise's first title
