I am Phil Ney with an update on sports here in Southwest Wisconsin.
Well, the Richland Center volleyball team will be in action tonight at Dodgeville,
trying to make it 2-0 in the conference.
And the Richland Center boy soccer team plays at Dodgeville against Dodge Point.
Tonight, the kickoff time will begin at 5 o'clock, JV to follow.
Also, River Valley will be at Prairie Dushin for both soccer and volleyball in the Southwest
conference. River Valley will be home against Southwestern in the SWAL for a volleyball match.
And West End during homecoming week is hosting North Crawford tonight.
For JV in varsity action, the Ithaca Bulldogs will be home against Sennaka
for a Ridge and Valley conference match.
And Kickapoo will entertain Wasika Stuban during the second week of competition
in the Ridge and Valley volleyball.
It is the fourth week of the football season.
Big games coming up this weekend as well.
The River Valley Black Hawks will be home against Prairie Dushin.
Tyler McLean, their head coach,
talked to us about River Valley's win last week against Broadhead Judah.
I've mentioned this group multiple times, but our offensive line.
This has been a really fun group to work with,
and a group that's been always trying to grow each and every week.
I think they're kind of developing their own little swagger in a sense too.
But our offensive line has been just paving the way a lot for us offensively,
being able to kind of run in this past week too.
If they throw the wall a little bit as well,
they continue to play that way.
I like our odds against any team of the week.
They're finally just defensively.
I do think our sort of swagger on that is coming back as well.
Again, Coach Millington's done a really nice job with that group.
I'm giving them a lot more confidence in where they're going to be in their assignments.
The tackling part we're improving apart each and every week.
Continue to grow in both those areas.
River Valley is home against Prairie Dushin for a key conference matchup this weekend.
The Riverdale chieftains will be doing battle this weekend as they get set for
Wazika Senekap and their coach Jeff Johnson talked to us about last week's loss to Potosi
Cassville. In a game like that, you know, you have a choice.
You can come out and put it up your best effort or you can just kind of roll over
our kids' baseball as hard as they possibly could.
And again, you know, Potosi, the ranked number one in the state.
We had great intensity.
We had some struggles on both sides of the ball, but still, you know what,
we were able to hold a 76 lead for a lot of the first half into the second quarter, even.
But, you know, they showed why they're number one in the state.
They're good size.
They have good depth in the state for us.
I mean, they did what they're supposed to do.
Riverdale coach Jeff Johnson is team preparing for Wazika's tube in Senekap this weekend.
A big game for the Aigle Bulldogs on the road at Bangor.
After a quality victory last week over Hillsboro,
here is Coach Kyle Kelley, co-head coach of Ithaca.
Oh, we were really able to establish the run.
So that was one of our biggest strong points.
And we fixed our penalty and turnover problem.
We had the last two games.
I thought you finished well.
I mean, you kind of, you had to really dig deep in the end of that game, didn't you?
Yeah, like I said, we'd go down and score.
And then they answered right back.
So it was back and forth matchup with two pretty evenly matched teams that
would just happen to come on on top.
I think that you know, a great running night from Houston,
bowling, but your offensive line deserves a lot of credit, isn't it?
Yeah, whenever you have a big offensive night of running the ball,
your offensive line should get credit that they deserve.
They really worked hard knowing their assignment and their gap responsibility.
They really put in the work and it showed.
Go ahead, Coach Kyle Kelley of Ithaca.
The Bulldogs playing at Bangor this weekend in the Senek Bloss Conference.
For the next game coming up during a weekend number four.

The struggling Brewers have lost 14 of 25 games since August 26th.
Here is manager Pat Murphy.
Still proud of our guys. I love our guys.
It's not lack of effort guys. It's not letting down.
It's maybe the opposite.
They're exhausted and we'll beat up.
We're injured and things did not go our way this week.
That has to happen sometimes at baseball.
I'm not saying it's luck.
I credit the Rangers.
They were better and they executed at the right times.
We just didn't.
It wasn't like we were not having good at bats.
The Brewers lost only once last season by sweep.
They're now 89 and 58.
They have an off day before opening a three-game home series against St. Louis on Friday night.

Quarterback Danny O'Neal talked about playing in that atmosphere this Saturday.
Honestly I think the the environment and everything it can definitely play a factor.
I know we're going to be prepared with you know all the different canances that we have
you know wrapping those out for you know loud loud environments so I think we're going to be prepared
for it and yeah I'm just excited to get down there and play ball.
And the Bucks have signed guard Carmack Ryan to a one year contract.
