Hass. It was the scenic bluffs conference opener last night in football at Ithaca as the
bulldogs hosted the Hillsboro Tigers and there was lots of scoring. Ithaca out of the
huddle hustling to the line Hillsboro digging in here from the Hillsboro 14 fourth down
there is the snap Jones back to throw. He's got some time over the middle and it is down
around the 10 and it is caught by the bulldogs a catch down inside the 10 yard line. Great
catch by Nelson. Nice play over the middle Spencer Nelson makes the grab. He's just a
freshman. Tigers had them all stopped except that one place over the middle. Hand off
big gaping hall. It's born down around the goal.
Houston ball and scores again. Fourth touchdown of the night. That football game was the
featured game of WRCO FM last night. Phil Lee was on hand. The Ithaca football team won
the scenic bluffs conference opener 26 21 over Hillsboro. It was a well played game in
which neither team turned the ball over on the night. The Tigers were trying to avenge
an 18 nothing lost to the bulldogs a year ago. They scored first when quarterback Miles
Ravenscroft ran for a one yard touchdown. Malachi Simpson kicked the extra point to make
it seven nothing. After a long drive, Ithaca is Houston Bolin barreled across from a yard
out. Kaden Keller tied the score at seven with the extra point kick. Bolin scored four
rushing touchdowns on the night, including another one-yarger before intermission. Hillsboro
stopped the bulldogs on the Tigers 11 yard line at the end of the first half and Ithaca
led 14 seven. Houston Bolin scored his third of the night on an 11 yard run to make it
20 to seven with just over seven minutes left in the third. The Tigers then mounted a
long drive that began at their own 11 yard line and captured with a Matthew Huffman
three yard score. Simpson's kick made it 20 to 14 with a minute 32 left in the third
quarter. The bulldogs mounted a late game drive which included a key fourth down conversion
inside the Tigers 10 yard line when senior quarterback Keegan Jones threw a pass to
freshman Spencer Nelson. Ithaca then got the eventual game winning score with Bolin's
fourth touchdown a six yard run to make it 26 14. The Tigers then put together a 70
yard drive that was camped with a 15 yard run by Huffman. The Malachi Simpson kick brought
the Tigers within five with three 53 left. Ithaca was able to keep the ball and force the
Tigers to use all of their timeouts with the bulldogs running out the clock for the five
point win with the 26 21 victory. The bulldogs are now two and one overall and one and
one on the league with a road game at Bangor next week. It was the first loss for Hillsboro.

Daniel Neill transferred to Wisconsin understanding he likely would spend up to a year as a backup
before getting a chance to start at quarterback.
O'Neill won't have to wait nearly that long, however, Wisconsin coach Luke Fickle acknowledged
on Tuesday that quarterback Billy Edwards Jr's knee injury likely will prevent him from
playing today against middle Tennessee.
O'Neill is set to start an Edwards place.
O'Neill started 11 games for San Diego State a year ago.
Edwards left the Badgers season opening 17-0 in one over Miami of Ohio on Thursday in
the second quarter.
O'Neill played the rest of the way.
The Badgers play middle Tennessee on the radio today.
It's on W-R-C-E 1450 AM and FM 107.7 with the pregame getting underway at 1 p.m.
Richland Center native Brady Ewing, a former Badger and NFL player, has been named an honorary
captain for today's Wisconsin Badger football game.
Prior to kickoff between the Badgers and middle Tennessee State, Brady and his family
will be on the sidelines.
So get the chance to join the current Badger captains for the coin toss.
W-R-C-O's Phil Neyes, Brady Ewing, about how he found out about the honor.
Brady, congratulations on the honor.
How'd you first find out that you're going to be an honorary captain for this weekend's
game?
I think Phil, it was a little bit of a surprise.
We were actually in cross planes for a scrimmage for my son, Bennett's youth football team,
they were doing a scrimmage at cross planes and I got a text that I saw after the game
from John Richter from the University of Wisconsin who is, I think, in operations with the football
team and he just said, hey, Brady, this is John Richter from Wisconsin football.
Can we set up a time here today or tomorrow to chat?
And so it's kind of a random text from an unknown number and I'm like, man, am I getting
spoofed here?
What's going on?
But had a chance to connect with John and he extended the invite to be an honorary captain
this weekend and yeah, just truly an honor.
Haven't been one of the guys that walks out as a captain at Wisconsin was definitely an
honor but to walk alongside some of the greats that had come before my time as well when
they were honorary captains.
This is really cool to have that come full circle and just to be a part of it, I feel
pretty thankful.
We're honoring some former teammates of yours this weekend too, correct?
Yeah, it sounds like there's, I think it's the Hall of Fame weekend.
So Travis Frederick and I believe Monte Ball will be getting honored as well and it'll
be a really cool weekend to have a bunch of former guys there and I think they're working
really hard to try to bridge that gap between the Wisconsin of old per se to the new regime
and the new coaching staff and what they're doing now.
So hopeful and we can help bridge that gap a little bit.
Matthew Golden says he doesn't feel any extra pressure associated with his status as the
first wide receiver drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the opening round in over 20 years.
Golden steady approach to help the former Texas Whiteout deliver a stellar preseason.
The number 23 overall pick and the 2025 draft will begin his NFL career tomorrow when
the Packers host the Detroit Lions.
The Packers made Golden the first receiver they've selected in the first round since
Javon Walker went 20th overall in 2002.
The Packers pregame on WRC OFM tomorrow is set for one o'clock when the kickoff set
for around 325 right here on the radio Sunday.
