Here is a look at sports on Thursday night Weston volleyball team defeated

seven aces Lexi Rockweiler led with nine digs and Shelby Newman and Ava Smith
had six kills each Weston opens Ridge and Valley play next week at LaFarge

the way for North Crawford in 11 player football Cochran Fountain City over
Royal 41 nothing and Brookwood was winner over Verrocua 20 to eight
Portage 26 Barobu 14 and Reedsberg over to forest 54 to 21 coming up
tonight River Valley will be home against Wisconsin Delves with Black Hawks
home opener here is coach Tyler McLean of River Valley.
The Delves yeah they got they got a lot of good athletes kind of on the outside
they do have quite a few returning guys as well they do have a pretty style
player in number 88 on the defense line and then he plays a little bit of
tight end as well again a lot of good athletes kind of playing on the outside
there again running that spread offense again seeing a lot of their their
passing schemes and all that stuff as well again we're really focusing on that
this weekend being prepared for on the defensive side.
About your home opener what what can River Valley fans expect or see here in the
second week? Yeah so with the home opener I mean we're super excited to kind of
get to show what we've been working for as a group now on front of our home
fans on a lot of excitement. I think there's a lot of excitement amongst the
the community here and also within our team as well to find an opportunity
to represent ourselves in front of our own home crowd to speak Wisconsin
Delves at River Valley among a number of area games tonight Richland Center
hits the road for the first time this season they are playing at Potosi High
School against Potosi Casville here is coach Andrew Troxel we're gonna see a
4-4 we go down to Potosi you know Potosi had our number last year and so one
of the things that we really got to work on is what is our scheme you know
against a 4-4 typically you got an extra linebacker let's float around
there in the box and so we have to have an answer for him so historically you
know our schemes are predicated on having combos at the point of attack this
week we got to be solo you know it's let's put our message to our boys it's
bad you know I mean they've got some big dudes up front you know they've got
speed on the outside and in the box too but you're gonna have to do your job
you know and make sure that your your teammate is also doing his duties in the
box as well so if we can get a hat in the box that really opens up some potential
for some big explosive plays won't say they kind of clear that chaos so that's
been our message you know what's nice is we were able to watch a little bit of
the Edgar film from Potosi State Championship Game Lab last year and we got
to see what an Edgar do you know that it took an undefeated Potosi team and
then gave their first loss of the season and so there's some really really big
keys that we were able to pick up on that will be part of our attack plan this
Friday the Hornets traveling to Potosi Casville tonight also during week
number two of the high school football season Hillsboro is at Riverdale here
is Riverdale coach Jeff Johnson I've been coaching against Eric all and he's
been a friend of mine for probably 25 28 years and we share a lot of
information but they he is really really good at running inside beer and midline
and if you stop one he's got another way to do it you stop that one he goes back
to the first one you stop that one now he's gonna run outside beer and he's
really really basic really simple but really hard to stop he's a good good
program up there they're good at it it's not to style that you see very often is
it not anymore everybody's kind of this running gun and spread it out and I
don't know I I have a personal like for running inside beer so I ran in
college and nobody runs anymore but the people I do are really really good at
it that's Jeff Johnson Hillsboro at Riverdale tonight the other good bulldogs are
on the road it was Eka Seneca here is co-head coach Kyle Kelly big things is
every week it's gonna change with what you see on film you're gonna have to
change your scheme every single time depending on who you play so every week is
like an own little mini season and then we just try to get blocking assignments
down and roll from there I felt we did a good job last Friday night of moving
the ball on the ground and withholding the line of scrimmage just have to make
sure we always block the right person and hit the right hole will be fine so
this week what do you know about was Eka Seneca as always they're gonna be
athletic well coached and physical so it's gonna be a fun game I should be
between both teams I think a co-head coach Kyle Kelly his team at Seneca
tonight take on was Eka Seneca some other games in the area Southwestern East
Dubuque at Bosque Bell Dodgeville and Iowa Grant Cuba City at Lancaster
Phenomore River Ridge Platteville at Mineral Point Prairie Dushine travels to

that's tomorrow at 11 there will be a potluck meal to follow any questions
contact Rick Piaseki the coach of the legends it's the 25th alumni versus
legends game also in the area coming up tomorrow Richland Center Ithaca
cross-country team will be in action here's our coach Eric Mindham we go to
cashed in as we have most years really looking to put our stamp on the season
put a mark down early this season and really just come out strong with a good
performance there to kind of set the set the bar for the season you said
goals for the team at this point yeah we're still getting confirmation from all
the kids we you know as a coaching staff we have what we prefer their goals to
be and then we have the kids actually tell us what their goals are but the
responses we're getting from the boys team is state they've been knocking on
that door the last couple years one place short the last two we're hoping we
can kind of get over that hump this year the girls team looking to compete
higher up in the conference they've been moving their way up in the
conference they've some really strong girls teams in front of them but they're
just trying to close that gap and they've done a great job of putting a work
in the summer that we're hoping to compete with them Eric Mindham coach of
the Richland Center Ithaca cross-country teams they'll be in cashton
tomorrow all star bowling last night team high series turbos bar and grill with

Let's look at tonight's football action.
Here's Phil me.
Eight player football games tonight.
Waniwak Weston plays at Valley Christian of Oshkosh, Wisconsin Heights is at Abundant
Life, St. Ambrose, and Belmonton St. John's Northwestern High School.
Many 11 player football, Black Hawk Warren at Westby, Austin at Sparta, Holman at Sock
Prairie, Monroe visits Mount Horror, Barnaville, Cashton at Independence, Gilminton, Prairie
Dushine travels to Darlington, Platteville at Mineral Point, Phenomore at River Ridge, Cubicity
at Lancaster, Iowa Grant is home against Dodgeville, and Southwestern East to Bukes is
at Bosqueville.
The ethical bulldogs looking to improve as they did pick up a win against Riverdale on Friday
night of last week, and another tough challenge this week against Wazika Senica.
They're not going to like anything crazily overly flashy, but they do, they do very, very
well.
Go ahead, Coach Kyle Kelly, talking about tonight's bulldog opponent, Wazika Senica.
Hillsborough is at Riverdale, coach Jeff Johnson talked to us this week about Riverdale's
difficult schedule.
Yeah, I think we're playing two of the top teams in the scenic blocks.
It's going to went to level two last year.
Hillsborough's picked to be in the top half again, so we're not shining away from anybody.
We feel that we can go toe to toe with just anybody we play, but it comes down to just
that those one or two plays.
And the Richland Center Hornets travel to Potosi High School to take on Potosi Casville
and coach Andrew Troxel says the toughness of the first couple of games, especially
a tonight's game, will test the Hornets.
Absolutely, you know, I mean, when we looked at what we wanted our kind of non-conference
schedule to look like a couple of years ago, you know, there was an opening with Potosi
Casville, you know, and I don't care if they're D7, like they're a strong ball club, you
know, that has story tradition success year in and year out.
And so I was absolutely on board with getting them on the schedule, especially, you know,
with this being the last non-conference before we open up SWC play, we want to challenge,
you know, and so, you know, to take on one of the paramount programs in the Sixth
Purpose Conference and in Southwest Wisconsin, you know, we're, we're looking forward to
this matchup.
Wisconsin Dells has had River Valley in another non-conference game.
Here is coach Tyler McClain of the Black Hawks talking about his team leaders.
Uh, yeah.
I mean, I think we should expect a pretty big game from Ken Plumley.
Number eight, he had a pretty quiet game out there, relatively, except for special teams.
I got to find ways to get in the ball a little bit more in his hands.
Owen Jones is another kid last game, and I was really impressed with here in the ball
very well.
Um, and then last game as well, uh, Jordan Gogger, um, kind of was our lean receiver last game.
I expect him to have another big game here as well as you play the Dells here.
The game tonight on FM 100.9 and WRCO.com along with the Civic Media app, it's WRCO's
Game of the Week Wisconsin Dells at River Valley.
And our pregame time begins at 635.
I am Phil me.
Thanks Phil.

and Redsburg defeated DeForest by a score of 54 to 21.

Mike Parsons is embracing the expectations that come from joining the Green Bay Packers
with a record-setting contract.
The 26-year-old Edge rusher told the Associated Press that he just wants to do whatever he
can to help the Packers win a championship.
The Dallas Cowboys traded Parsons to Green Bay yesterday for two first round draft picks
and defensive tackle Kenny Clark.
Parsons agreed to terms on a four-year $188 million contract, with $136 million
guaranteed.
That makes Parsons the highest-paid non-quarterback in league history.
The Packers trade for Parsons from the Cowboys boosted their Super Bowl odds.
The trade involved sending two first round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark to Dallas,
as I mentioned.
Since the trade, Green Bay's odds of winning the Super Bowl have improved significantly
with many better backing them, meanwhile the Cowboys odds have worsened.
The NFL season is shaping up to be competitive with several teams, including the Eagles and
Chase's favorite to win the title.
The MVP race is tight with quarterbacks, such as Joe Burrows and Lamar Jackson, among
the top contenders.
The Wisconsin Badgers team started the 2025 campaign with a 17-to-nothing win over the
Miami of Ohio Red Hawks, but there may be bad news when it comes to their starting quarter
back.
Transferred quarterback, Billy Edwards Jr. left the game early in the second quarter after
appearing to insert his leg on a handoff, Edwards was making his Wisconsin debut after
throwing for 2881 yards and 15 touchdowns for Maryland last season.
Back up, quarterback, Daniel Nielstrew for 120 yards and touchdown, and a touchdown, I
should say, and Dylan Jones added 73 yards on the ground on 14 carries.
Up next to the Badgers is Middle Tennessee State, who they'll host on September 6th.
A person with the situation says that Wisconsin quarterback, Billy Edwards Jr. is considered
weak to weak with a spring knee after undergoing an MRI following his early departure from the
Badgers season opener.
The person spoke to the Associated Press on Conditions of Anonymity because the school
hadn't announced an update regarding Edward's status.
Edward started limping after executing a handoff in the second quarter of Wisconsin 17-to-nothing
victory over Miami of Ohio last night.
Edwards was making his Wisconsin debut after playing for Maryland last year.
San Diego State transferred Daniel Nielstrew to play the remainder of the game in Edwards
place.
And the Arizona Diamondbacks, roughed up the Milwaukee Starter, Jose Quintana for six early
runs and got an effective start from Neville, Christmas, and a six to four win over the
Brewers yesterday.
Del Frelek had his third lead-off homer for the crew and added one more hit, Caleb Durbin
and Bryce Turing, each added two hits from Milwaukee.
Quintana had one of his worst starts this season, getting up five hits in six runs in three
and two-thirds innings while throwing 95 pitches.
Up next to the Brewers is a three game series in Toronto, starting tonight against the Blue
Jays.
Pre-game for that program, that can be heard on WRC, 107.7 and AM 1450.
The pre-game for that game will be at 530 with the first pitch at 605.
