I am Phil Ney with an update on sports high school football will get the first taste of seeing another opponent today

Anyway, with scrimmages planned throughout the state of Wisconsin. The ethical bulldogs will have a scrimmage today at

Lancaster. I talked to coach Kyle Kelly about that. Yeah, we'll be at Lancaster at starts at five

We're going to play Benton Scales Mount and Lancaster

Should be two real teams that'll be good for us to see

Competition-wise, it'll be finally be cool to get a hit somebody that's not on their own team

That's you find your practice practice your drill your drill your drill and about time we get to play an actual team

Yeah, that's the key and you're playing some teams that you won't see during the year and Lancaster is a good program

It's probably a good thing to face somebody that's gonna challenge you. Yeah, it's good to play a good competition to see where you're at

See where you need to improve so except we're gonna

Play a smaller school and a bigger school. So it's a pretty cool setup and we're lucky to have that opportunity

I asked go ahead coach David Clang about the team as it approaches conference play

Still in the scenic boss second year in it kind of coming

All the same teams are back all that kind of stuff

So that's that's nice that we have stability there that we're not moving around as much and changing different teams in and out

Is this the last year for Ithaca before you co up with Weston?

This would be the last year that it goes by themselves and yeah next year we'll join it up with Weston

I think it's gonna be a great opportunity for us. We kind of we're talking

We wish to would have happened even this year earlier just because of of all the good things that could potentially happen with it

But yeah, it would be the last year that Ithaca is on its own for a loving man

That is Ithaca co-head coach David Clang

Richland Center will scrimmage today getting underway at 10 at La Crosse Logan High School a quietness will be there as well

Here is head coach Andy Troxel of Richland Center

We can go into this image now for a couple years

First of all, we love going to this scrimmage because we see La Crosse Logan who's an MVC school nerd twice our size

And then we see a quietness and a quietness has got a very successful history over the last five years for sure when in about three

consecutive state titles

So when we go into that one we want to make sure our schemes are solid

We want to make sure our offensive line is able to

Communicate because we're going to see different intensities in front and what have you you know and then

Obviously just kind of skill position players. What does the mesh look like?

How's the timing things like that? You know, and then defensively. How is our communication?

Looking how is it happening sounding all that kind of jazz and then we want to make sure that

Any other teams if there's something they're trying to exploit

We see that and then we can counter that before we get into the throes of a season. I asked Andy about the order of business

Yeah

Logan does a really good job in how they structure their scrimmage

So how it typically works is you know, you'll have 15 offensive plays and you start from the 40 and you can march

So it's not like you're going first through fourth down and then you have to go back to the 40

You can spend all 15 right on one drive or you can go ahead and you can score 15 Dutch sounds

You know, whatever that looks like

But then after the 15 an offense you go over to 15 and defense and

We will be at lacrosse Logan on their game field and toward our varsity will be on one end

And our jd will be on the other so that'll give us a good chance to have our coaches kind of go back and forth

and then

Just also for us to kind of evaluate what the up and coming talent kind of looks like to

And Andy says the conference of which the hornets are a part of again this year the southwest conference

Which will begin in a few weeks seems to be a wide open race. Yeah, it really is you know

It's just kind of a weird situation in the sense that you know, not only is it wide open

But I mean we have four new head coaches in the SWC and so there's a lot of question marks about what is it going to look like

You know blackville dodgeville

purtichine

You know river valley so that's one thing where we're going to be excited to kind of see film

Uh and see kind of what what schemes and what kind of systems are they running on both sides of the ball

The hornets first outing today and lacrosse

River Valley will host a football scrimmage this evening cuba city and point at will both be there

Also, there's uh eight player football at Belmont tonight in a scrimmage for north Crawford

Belmont and a key

It's also weston hosting Williams Bay tomorrow at 11 in a first round scrimmage or first weekend scrimmage

And Riverdale will be at middle point tonight at five

Cambridge dodgeville and Iowa grant will also be a part of that scrimmage

The Packer is prepared for a preseason game this weekend

Jordan loved during the combined practice yesterday with the Colts

Talked about the decision to have surgery or not after his recent injury

So that was I mean else part of the debate is uh, you know whether you get surgery whether you don't get surgery

You know if this is in the middle of season

Probably would have been something that uh, we didn't get the surgery on but uh, you know with this still being early

And I'm having time to recover and uh be fully ready for week one you know that recommendation was getting surgery
