I'm Philney with an update on sports this morning. Sunday league home talent baseball

section championships yesterday. We're canceled, including our featured broadcast arena

at Verona. The field was underwater at Verona and they called the game along with all the

other section championships and moved them to this coming Sunday at one Ford Atkinson

and Evansville Sun Prairie at Manona and Ashton at Middleton will all be played this

coming weekend. It is that time of year again. The merchant's bowling league will be

meeting on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. Team captains and members are urged to attend the meeting

at the Phoenix Center. League will start bowling on August 27th at 630. So be aware of the

merchant's league meeting this week. And this weekend high school football teams

will scrimmage across the area as they get set for the real deal. The first game is

coming up on August 21st and 22nd. Riverdale will be at a scrimmage at Mineral Point

High School this Friday at 530 Cambridge Dodgeville Iowa Grant and host Mineral Point will

be there. If it got will be at Lancaster along with Benton Scales mound Columbus and

the host Lancaster flying arrows. It will be action for the Richland Center football

team this Friday. The scrimmage gets underway at 10 o'clock at the Cross Logan High School

Aquinas will be there along with the visiting Hornets as well. Again, that's a daytime

scrimmage. River Valley will be hosting Cuba City and Point Net for the annual scrimmage

hosted by the Black Hawks. It gets underway Friday at 5 o'clock at the River Valley High

School field. Also a scrimmage coming up for Kickapoo the Farge. There'll be a part

of the scrimmage at Belmont High School with Belmont, Key and North Crawford as well.

And for one-a-walk Weston, they'll have a scrimmage Saturday at 11 a.m., it'll be

at Weston High School against Williams Bay. Well, it was an exciting end to the day yesterday.

The meds were up five nothing at one point, but the brewers came all the way back to

win it. Two-two. Fly ball to deep right. It is back. Sonal back. Out of here.

Isaac Collins walks it off against the meds. You can't make it up. McCall on the Brewer

Radio Network yesterday of Collins. Walk off home run extending the brewers, winning

streak to nine games in a row and completing the sweep. New York had scored the first five

runs Sunday, but couldn't hold on. William Contreras went deep twice. And DL Hall provided

shutdown scoreless relief. Nick Mears earned the victory in the 7-6 final. Here's manager

Pat Murphy talking about Isaac Collins. We did see some greatness out of him last year

at the end in terms of, you know, this game might be a big trigger. Oh, you just didn't

know. And with our outfield situation, the way it was, you're not going to sneak in front

of some of these guys, you know, the way Mitch and Perk have played and you got Yally as

a possible outfilling. You got Shury on Freelink the way they played. House Collins is going

to get a chance. Well, opportunity happens and he's made the most of it. Isaac Collins

talked following the game about how it all ended. Yeah, I mean words can't really describe

it. It's just, you know, that was my first ever walkoff home run and, you know, first home

run at American Family Field. And then, you know, just the game that we had today, you

know, down five to one and just, you know, fighting back, you know, it's just, again,

another brewers win. I think that's just the type of team that we are. And, you know,

we're never out of it. There's never doubt in that dugout. And, you know, timely hitting,

great defense, DL through extremely well, keep us in the game. And, yeah, I mean, to end

it on a walkoff home run like that. It's just amazing. Pretty exciting stuff for Pat Murphy

and the brewers who keep doing it their own way. Just a team win, just a team thing. I

think if you don't love what's going on in there and you're part of this thing, then you

need to check yourself because this has been a lot of fun the way these guys compete, the way

they pull for each other. The Pittsburgh pirates visit American Family Field tonight.

Freddie Peralta will start the first game for the home team. The Cubs lost last night to St. Louis

after a lot of rain in the St. Louis area. They did get the game in. Cardinals three Cubs

two Arizona 13 six over Colorado, Washington eight, nothing over San Francisco.

Cincinnati 14 Pittsburgh eight Atlanta seven one over Miami. In the American League, Minnesota

five Kansas City three Houston seven one over the Yankees, the athletics three Baltimore two,

Detroit nine, the Angels five, White Sox 64 over Cleveland, Seattle six Tampa Bay three.

Inter League play Philadelphia four two over Texas, San Diego beat Boston six two Toronto five four

over the LA Dodgers. The Packers were dominated by the Jets in the first preseason game of the year

30 to 10 Green Bay head coach Matt LaFlora called Saturday's one sided loss. Quote humbling

experience. The Jets sack the quarterback four times and turned two turnovers into 10 points.

Rookie Amar Johnson ran for the Packers only touchdown with a 39 yarder in the fourth period.

Kicker Brandon McManus booted a 46 yard feel goal. Green Bay plays the Colts coming up on Saturday.

There's a ton of value just getting yeah I think it's a good lesson like you better get your

mind right ready to play football and I mean it's a it's a gladiator sport and if you don't

you're going to get humbled really quickly but I do think there's a lot of value like I've

talked about just you know we're going to be playing some night games it's good to hopefully

we can clean up some things along the way in our process of getting ready for a football game

and you know our guys I think there's a lot to learn from this experience.

Last night it was Miami 24 and the Bears 24 and the Chargers 27 13 over New Orleans.

Well the Badgers wrapped up camp in Plattville over the weekend.

Here is Badger Coach Luke fickle obviously it's been a great 14 days and there's a lot of things

have happened out here and I really do think we're in a really good place you know I'm not

being complacent any sorts and we still have a really really good week as we go back to campus where

we'll stay in this camp mode where we'll you know push and and and have all day stuff

morning and afternoon and then next Saturday we'll kind of wrap up what I would say camp with it

with another good scrimmage Wisconsin center Jake Renfrow suffered what school officials

described as a lower body injury in practice school officials said Friday that Renfrow is considered

week to week and has him in rule out for the season opener August 28 against Miami of Ohio.

The injury occurred Thursday during the Badger preseason camp in Plattville.

Renfrow started all 12 games for the Badgers last season and allowed one sack.

He also was a starting center on the 21 Cincinnati team that reached the college football playoff.

That's a look at Monday morning sports. I am Filney.
