Here's a check of what happened yesterday.
Let's look at the Platteville Invitational yesterday, amid season Southwest Conference
Meet, Richland Center and River Valley, among the teams involved.
First of all, for the RC Hornets, Mason-Gelanic 5th and the 104th in the 200, Kevin Hernandez
finished 3rd in the 400, Ryan Stadler, 4th in the 800 and in the 1600, Devon Woodhouse
was 3rd with a pole vault, Duncan Harper took first with his long jump and Devon Harris
was second in shot, Liam Fingerson 4th in discus, and the RC 4x8 relay team with a time
of 846, 27 finished first, Robert Budden, Harrison Carpenter, Kevin Hernandez and Ryan Stadler.
For the River Valley boys, Aiden Hill had a good day first in the 100 and the 200 and
4th in long jump, Wesley Hatfield finished second with a 100, 3rd in the 200, Lucas
Klein was 3rd in the 800, the RV 4x1 was 3rd, Spencer Sackett, Cameron Lilla, Gavin Abbott
and Fouci Tail, and also in the 4x2 second place, Wesley Hatfield, Spencer Sackett, Lucas
Klein and Aiden Hill, Alec Wagner 4th with a pole vault, and a 3rd place discus finish
for Grady Graham.
In the girls' activities, Richland Center Freshman Charlie Bailey had another great day,
the Tri-Fecta, first in the 100, first in the 200 with a time of 28.06, and first in
the 400 with a time of 103.24, she was 3rd with a long jump, Pearl Fretz 4th in the 800,
3rd in the 1600, Grace Fretz was second in the 1600, second in triple jump, Danica
Paul's second in the 100 meter hurdles, and first in pole vault with a 906, Chloe
Hying 4th in pole vault, Pippa Ewing second in long jump, and Madeleine Hubert, first
with a shot with throw of 38.08, and first in the discus with a 116.07.
For River Valley, Gina Klein, 3rd in the 100, Anya Sephrude, 2nd in 200, Brielle Grant,
2nd in the 800, 1st in the 1600, Mali Maas, 3rd in the 800, 4th with a 1600 run, Jenna
Cox was 3rd in the 100 hurdles, and 2nd in the 300 hurdles.
Brooklyn White took first in the 300 hurdles.
The RV 4x1 was 5th, Reagan's second, Kenley Straca, Presley Monterey, and Kylie Killoy.
In the 4x2, they were 3rd, Gina Klein, Anya Sephrude, Presley Monterey, Evelyn Tripolin,
and in the shot put throw, it was Braylon Tav's finishing 2nd.
She was 4th with a discus throw, Lily and Miller, 3rd in shot, and Presley Monterey
with a 5th place discus throw as well, yesterday at the Plattville midseason meet.
In local baseball, it was Richardson Center with a win at Lancaster 7-6 last night.
They are now 5-7 overall, 2-2 in the conference.
The Hornets have a grueling league schedule this week, with a makeup game at home, Thursday
night against Prairie Dushin, and a road game at River Valley on Friday.
The River Valley baseball team lost a Dodgeville 4-1.
The Black Hawks managed just two hits against winning pitcher, Caden Schneider.
Jack Graber pitched two innings of hitless relief for the Dodgers.
As they improved to 4-2 in the league, River Valley fell to 0-5.
The Black Hawks' lone run came on a 2-0 RBI double by Caden Plumley in the 5th inning.
Kagan Heiser suffered the pitching loss.
Quincy Blakely worked 2-plus innings of relief for River Valley.
Riverdale held down to defeat Iowa Grant 2-1 last night in high school baseball.
Chase Chitwood would go the distance, striking out 8 to pick up the win.
Chase would also have a double and an RBI, while Conlon Walsh would go 2-3 with a double
and an RBI.
It was a win last night in the SWAL for Boscow-Bella of his southwestern 6-3, Fennelmore
5, Cubicity 4, Belmont 9-2 over Highland, Seneca Beat LaFarge 8-0.
River Ridge 8, and it was also Potosi 3, Mount Horob 5-1 over Readsburg 11-0, Sock
Prairie got by Barrowboo.
The Richland Center High School softball team won 8-4 over Landcaster last night.
Freshman Reagan Shepp was 3-4, and Freshman pitcher Kyrie Fisher struck out 13 batters
while surrendering 2 hits.
Chloe Darling and Maddie McGlin both doubled, Kyrie Fisher, Reagan Shepp, and Carly
Meaden each drove in 2 runs.
Abigail Williams had 2 hits as the Hornets picked up a victory in the Southwest Conference.
They will travel to River Valley on Thursday night.
The Black Hawks lost a Dodgeville at Final Score 9-1, and also in the Southwest softball
race, it was Prairie Dushin 5, and Plattville nothing.
Belmont got the win against Thailand 7-5, Wasika Stuban 11-0 over Seneca.
Brookwood defeated LaFarge 10-0 in 5 innings.
Kikapu was a winner against his Soto 5-2 in a makeup ridge and Valley game.
Hillsboro 19, Boschabell 1 in 5 innings, and Southwestern beat Riverdale 11-1 in 5 innings.
Barrowboo 9-Readsburg 4, Wisconsin Dells over Wattoma 13-6, Portage Top Sock Prairie 12-2,
and Toma over Analaska 3-1 yesterday on the softball diamonds.
In soccer, lacrosse central, a winner against Richland Center, that final was 8-0.
Quillrun Men's golf league action last night, Aaron Halverson had the top score of 35,
including a birdie on hole 1, on hole 8, and on hole 9.
Ryan Poxdett with a 36, Pat Keegan had a 40, a 41 for Neil Mahoney, JJ Klatt and Brett
Monterey each had 42s, Brent had a birdie on hole 1.
Other golfers with holes played under par last night at Quillrun, Jeremy Wilson with
a birdie on hole 1, Merle Jones and Willie Degner also birdied hole 1.
It was a birdie on hole 1 for Rod Reitz, a birdie on number 2 for Terry Wheaton and
Wally Wachter.
And a Marshall birdied hole 6, a birdie on hole 7 for Ray Linvig, and Ken Nick Senior
birdied hole 8.
Rod Reitz had the closest third shot on hole 1.
Ryan Poxdett, the closest to the pin shot on hole 3, Ray Linvig, the closest to the pin
on hole 7, and Merle Jones, the longest drive on the fairway on hole 9, during Quillrun's
week 3 of 20, and during the Quillrun Tuesday Men's golf league.
The Brewers made the four runs they scored in the first inning stand up in a 4-3 win over
Rookie Chad Patrick claimed his second pitching victory.

From the NBA playoffs last night, it was Indiana 120, Cleveland 1-19, Golden State 99 and
Minnesota 88.
From the NHL playoffs, in overtime, Carolina 2-1 over Washington at Enbitton beat Vegas
by a final score of 4-2.
The Wisconsin women's team is adding a player from Illinois through the transfer portal.
Seeing your Shea Ballon missed all of the last season with an injury, Ballon started
her collegiate career at Duke before transferring to play with the Align Eye.
The last time she played as a sophomore, she hit 34% of her 3-pointers playing in 29 games
and averaging 2.1 points per ball game.
