I'm Phil Ney with sports. The Riverdale baseball team came from behind to defeat

Ithaca 5-3 last night in non-conference action. The visiting Bulldogs took a two-nothing lead

in the first inning. Riverdale snapped back with a run in the bottom of the first. Ithaca added a

run in the third on what would be the last hit of the last run for the Bulldogs on a base hit

by Wyatt Hilby. The chiefs and scorer run in the bottom of the sixth to get within a run,

and the bases were loaded with two outs when Chase Chitwood stepped to the plate.

That one. Holy cow. Chitwood was the winning pitcher as well as he went the distance

striking out seven and locking two, giving him just three Ithaca hits and taking the Bulldogs

one, two, three in the top of the seventh inning. Ethan Kegel was two for three within RBI as the

chiefs improved to three and four on the season. Sammy Clary, West Nelson and Wyatt Hilby

all had hits for Ithaca. The Bulldogs used two pitchers as West Nelson worked into the sixth

inning before hitting a 100-pitch limit. Devon Eim closed the game with a walk, two strikeouts,

and a hit given up. The loss was the first of the season for Ithaca after six wins to start the

season. Following the five three win, Riverdale will prepare to host Westby in an on-conference game

today at 430. This will be a varsity only night as there will not be a JV game. Ithaca has two

conference games yet this week. Tonight they play at North Crawford before hosting Kikapoo on

Thursday. Weston was a winner for two over North Crawford. Isaac Jennings got the win on the

mound throwing a complete game with 85 pitches, allowing two earned runs on six hits,

no walks and 10 strikeouts, leaders at the plate for the Silver Eagles. Isaac Jennings three for

with a double one RBI and two runs scored, Gavin Cass two for two with three RBI's,

Brady Westfall one for two with a double and one runs scored. Garrett Granger, Ryan Greenwood and

Garrett Jennings all had one hit each, nine hits total for the Eagles. Once again, the pitching

was solid in five conference games. The pitchers have allowed only five walks, twelve earned runs

and a combined ERA of 0.80. The feeling was strong as well as the hitting is starting to come

around with only four strikeouts in 29 at bats. Weston gets the win for two over North Crawford

within two. But the Eagles made the plays to get out of the inning and earn the win. Lily

Cast had two hits and three RBI's. Kaleigh Sebenauer with a triple and two RBI's and Valerie

On the schedule for tonight Richland Center with a slated meat for the track and field teams

at the Prairie Dushin relays on its first year coach is Laura Ewing. Yeah we have our prairie relays.

I'm really really excited about that one. We've been competing in that one forever and like I said

we have a huge group of track athletes this year and so we can put together some really really

great relays. So I'm super excited to see how that turns out. Of course we have the valley meat

that we always go to on Friday me second as well that I'm really excited about as well but

we're coming in the short term we're looking at just Prairie relays right now and putting together

as many great relays as we can. These teams I think could be competitors when you get down to

conference time and everything. So what are you doing in terms of trying to build to that and

you know build for the future here today? Yeah we're working hard every single day at practice we've

got what we're really trying to be consistent in the events and kind of choosing what events

we want each athlete to kind of specialize in and we're kind of honing in on that right now

and they're getting really good at it. We're getting like high places in these events

and I'm kind of looking at every single meat just seeing how we can win as a team where we need to put

where we need to place these athletes so that we can win as a team as well as PR and all of our

individual events. Who's helping you coach this spring? So I have assistant coach of Ethan

Wife. He's helping with hurdles and triple jump and high jump and he's also helping sprints as well.

I also have coach Kenneveck who's helping me with pole vault and sprints as well.

And then our distance coach is coach O'Connell, coach Avin O'Connell. He is obviously doing our

1600 4x8 and 3200 and coach writer Dana writer is the shot put and discus coach. I'm also

assisted by Francine. He made my mom. She is helping out with the relays and sprints as well.

Rachel and center head track coach Laura Ewing her team at the Pervader Sheen duels today.

The Rachel and center and River Valley golf teams at Landcaster Country Club for a conference

meet this afternoon. Rachel and center softball team home against Verokwap.

Rachel and center soccer team is home against Galena. We'll be on hand for the Rachel and center

Pervader Sheen baseball game if weather permits later today. River Valley will be on hand today

in Plattville for a baseball game. They also have a softball game at Cuba City and River Valley's

soccer team getting set to play at home this evening. Riverdale with the baseball meet coming up

today as they host Westby the Riverdale softball girls are home against Wisconsin Heights and there

is a track meet at Kikapu this afternoon involving many area teams. Ithaca is on hand at North

Crawford for baseball and softball and the Ithaca Weston track teams are indeed at Kikapu this afternoon.

A two run home run by rookie third baseman Caleb Durbin gave the brewers an early lead but the

scoring ended there on the way to a five two defeat. The Giants won the first game of Milwaukee's

ten game road trip Monday night. Grant Anderson took the loss in relief winner Robbie Ray and two

relievers held the brewers to six hits. Jose Cantana starts from Milwaukee tonight in game two of the

series. Elsewhere in the National League Miami six three over Cincinnati Atlanta seven St. Louis six

the Mets five four over Philadelphia. In the American League Boston four the White Sox two

Cleveland six four over the Yankees Houston seven Toronto nothing Detroit six four over San

Diego. Elsewhere in basketball Detroit 100 New York 94 in the playoffs the Clippers beat Denver 105

102. The Pacers are three and a half point favorites to take tonight's game two of the playoffs

against Milwaukee. There is a possibility that guard Damian Lillard will return to the Bucks lineup.

His coach Doc Rivers was asked yesterday after watching Damon practice if he is ready to go.

Well it's more the doctors than him you know he's close you know I you know listen he looks

right to me but he's getting close you know it's hard because like we did the no five minute

skirmish with him before practice and we did it yesterday but then we get with the team we just

doing skeleton work and and all that so it is hard I will say that. The Bucks and Pacers in

game two of the NBA playoff tonight. I'm Philney with sports.
