I'm Filney with WRCO sports.
Here's a look at the high school schedule for tonight, one of the busiest teams in the
area this week.
The Ithaca Weston track team there on the road tonight at the cashton elementary invite.
Also, Ithaca will be hosting Wasika Stuban in baseball and softball.
It's a double header.
One of those to make up game and the first games began at 4 30 this afternoon.
The Riverdale track teams will be at the MFL Maramaque Monona Iowa meet going on today.
Riverdale softball team is in middle point and middle point is at Riverdale in baseball.
Today in baseball action for River Valley, they'll be in Richland Center at the Richland
Center high school sports complex.
Also at RCHS, it will be action for the soccer teams.
They'll be hosting Prairie Dushin.
That will get underway at 5 o'clock with varsity action and the Richland Center softball
team also hosts Prairie Dushin this evening.
River Valley's softball team is at Plattville tonight and the River Valley soccer team is
at Plattville.
So it's a busy sports schedule for a Thursday.
Of course, all things weather permitting will be on hand at Richland Center high school
baseball field for the Hornets and River Valley in a conference baseball game.
Among the highlights, there will be a 105 year old Richland County resident who plans
to throw out the first pitch.
I asked head coach Ryan Lemke about that yesterday.
Yeah, Louise is coming out.
She's a resident at Schmidt Woodland Health.
She's 105 years old.
We are super, super honored and pleased to have her at the varsity field on Thursday.
Hopefully the weather holds a little bit, but she's coming out.
She played fast pitch softball until she was eight years old and it's just truly a remarkable
story.
She wanted to make this happen and some people at Schmidt reached out and we are thrilled
to have her out on the field and it's a big night for her, big night for us.
We're hoping to get her a win.
The Hornets' so sting River Valley tonight are pregame time at 445 on FM 100.9 and
wrco.com.
The Richland Center track teams are off to a good start.
They have lots of young contributors this year and a first year head coach Laura Ewing.
I talked to Laura this week about how it's gone so far for the track teams.
Well, things have gone really great so far this season.
We have a really incredible group of seniors and upcoming freshmen as well, meaning that
our individual events are going really, really great from our senior veterans and then we're
putting together some really awesome relays that are getting points and scoring and getting
high places in our meets so far this year.
We've had a couple of invitations and gotten a lot of medals so far.
I noticed there were quite a few freshmen contributors, especially on the girls side
in Monday night.
Right there?
Yes.
There is a huge group of freshmen coming in which is absolutely incredible, especially on
the girls side.
We have our 4x4 relay team consists of three freshmen.
We have three freshmen and a junior and I am so excited to see where that 4x4 goes.
They are all running incredible 400 times and it's going to be really, really exciting
to watch them grow throughout the season.
Congratulations to the girls team.
That was an ice effort hit cheer.
Great invitation on Monday night, wasn't it?
Yeah.
I worked really hard to try and get everything lined up so that we could score as many points
as possible and it worked out in the end.
Our team really pulled their weight and won a lot of, we got a lot of medals.
Bristol and Cedars track coach Laura Ewing, the next action for the Hornets comes up at
the Prairie Dushin relays next Tuesday.
A special event coming up Friday night at River Valley.
It will be Stoten playing at River Valley, an area softball, non-conference game of course,
but it'll be the return of River Valley graduate Cassie Paulson Bondi who will be coaching
against her all along the matter and of course, her former head coach, Jane Brio, I talked
to Cassie about her season.
So this is my sixth year as the head softball coach, 11th year in the program overall.
Well, you're not old enough to be have been there that long, are you?
It doesn't seem that, but graduating 2004 from Valley, so that seems a little bit longer
than I'd like to think, but.
Well, you've coached in a lot of games obviously, but playing against River Valley, that's
probably a special one, isn't it?
It definitely is, yeah.
Jane and I kind of started talking about getting that non-trafference thing going when I took
over his head coach, so gosh, that was five years ago, we came up there a couple times,
they've been here a couple times.
Last year I finally got that first win against her, so that was kind of special too.
I remember going out to the outfield talking to my girls and I just said, thank you, like
this was, you know, it's kind of that check off my bucket list as the head coach.
Well, you go back to River Valley, will they have some family and friends from the area
there?
Oh, for sure.
It's funny, because I'm actually Valley's starting pitcher, Tessa Swooder, is actually
a cousin of mine, so her and I were kind of joking, you know, trying to get a big family
picture after the game since it's her senior season.
You know, I know that a lot of families are going to be cheering for Valley, but I know
at least my parents will have their stoten gear on, my brother and sister have their
stoten gear on, but it'll be fun regardless.
Cassie Paul Sinbond, a coach of stotens softball team, they play at River Valley tomorrow afternoon

The brewer is bombed the Tigers with three home runs on the way to a 5.1 victory Wednesday
afternoon.
Milwaukee claimed the series two games to one.
The Long Balls came off the bats of Kristen Yelich, Reese Hoskins and Sal Freelich, veteran
Jose Quintana, stop the Tigers and one run and four hits while pitching into the sixth
inning.
For manager Pat Murphy, he says it is good to see Kristen Yelich's hard work pay off.
Yeah, anybody gets bothered by results when your number you look up on the board and 20
games in your numbers are what they want you want them to be, but you know, it's much
of the leader and much of the pro he is, he's still human and that bothers people.
So I'm just glad to see him get some results and some of those hard contacts fall in.
The brewers are off today.
They have Freddie Peralta, scheduled to start the first of a three game weekend series
Friday against the athletics elsewhere in Italy, play St. Louis for one of her Houston
Toronto beat Atlanta 3 1 Minnesota 4 3 over the Metz Seattle 5 Cincinnati 3 in the National

The Bucks will host a Friday send off rally at signature aviation MKE at Mitchell International
Airport coach Doc Riversquad will be taking off for Indianapolis for a first round series
against the Indiana Pacers starting Saturday Milwaukee has seated 5th in the Eastern Conference.
One sportsbook gives the Bucks less than a 40% chance of getting past that first round
series.
Damian Lillard may return from the blog code in his leg, but likely not against Indiana.
Tomorrow's rally starts at one o'clock Milwaukee Bucks Brooke Lopez says they know what they
have to do.
We know who they are, what their capable of, what their identity is, and you know, obviously
you guys know as well, you know, so we've been working these last few days on just being
ultra vigilant about transition, you know, transition, transition, transition, the way they
move the ball around the floor and a half core.
Owens selfish.
They are just being ready to go from the jump defensively yesterday in the NBA playoffs.
Miami 109 Chicago 90 Dallas 120 Sacramento 106 and the UW athletic board is given its

Gard, men's hockey coach Mike Hastings, wrestling coach Chris Bono, and swimming and
diving coach Yuri Sugiyama, women's hockey coach Mark Johnson is extended through June 30th
