I'm Fel me with sports. The River Valley soccer team improved to 2 and 0 on the young season
with a conference win last night over Galena, East Dubuque, two goals to none. River Valley wins
and also Lake Mills was a victor against Dodge point for two in soccer. Last night high school
softball, Larry Villager returns as coach of Weston. The softball team this time and Weston
lost to the Soto 13-8. The silver eagles at nine hits led by Lily Cast going three for four.
Haley McGlin, two for three with two RBI's and Kalice Seabennallar had two RBI's. Valerie
Bauer won. Valerie suffered a loss with 13 hits given up walking one and striking out two.
Also, Weston had five errors, but lots of bright points according to coach Villared.
Also, Seneca and Ithaca softball. That was a while when Ithaca winning six to five.
The winning pitcher was Arianna Lewis with two walks, 10 strikeouts and seven hits.
Bridget Hall suffered a loss, walking none with five strikeouts and giving up six hits.
Ithaca was led by Emma Hilby, two for three, Kaley Newkirk and Jaden Bolton both went one for three.
Seneca's Bridget Hall was one for two and also Grace Vero one for three. Addison Davison with Seneca
at second base made several good plays taking away hits. Again, Ithaca six five over Seneca.

and Verokwa was winner against Westby. That final score was five-three.
The Riverdale softball team opened up the SWAL with a 19-to-2 win over Bosca Bell.
Prairie Dershine 13 and Barnabelle 10. Brookwood 29-Mostin Nothing.
The Wilson Center baseball team split yesterday in games played in the Missouri Classic.
The Jamboree was 12-2 lost to Jefferson City High School and then the Hornets went on to win
against New Bloomfield High School 18-13. Yesterday coach Ryan Lemke talked about the opportunity
for his players to bond. What one thing we're already noticing is our team is the unit.
You know, we're all staying in Airbnb together and they're just, you know,
we're getting closer and closer by the second. I mean, these guys are really becoming best friends
with dudes. They didn't really necessarily talk to come into the trip and it's just been an
absolutely amazing experience for our program. Coach Lemke says they certainly have faced some
tough opponents. We're playing some big dogs down here. That's for sure. You know, we're seeing
guys that are at our division one commit both seniors and juniors all over the place. The team
we played last night, seven of their nine starters are committed to play college at the next
level or baseball and college at the next level. And we expect ahead to continue today.
The Hornets playing another game today, JV as well and they'll start returning home tomorrow.
Baseball action last night, Weston, Edge, DeSoto 2, nothing. Isaac Jennings with the win on the
mound pitching a complete game, allowing five hits. No runs and 12 strikeouts at the plate. Isaac
was two for four with two singles in one RBI. Gavin Cast one for four with one RBI.
Blake Bingham, Hunter Coy and Garrett Jennings all with singles defensively. They played a solid
game as well with a couple of guys in key positions last night elsewhere. It was the ethical
bulldogs getting the win against Seneca. That was a two nothing final. A great pitcher's duel
at the top of the seventh inning. Cody Burns hit a double to center field.
Channing Brown had a sack fry to bling Cody in and then Cole Brownlee scored on a past ball
thrown to first and Sammy Clary pitched a one hitter and the bulldogs win the conference and
season opener to nothing over Seneca. Another action. It was a win for North Crawford over Kikapoo,
12, two and a win yesterday for Columbus over River Valley, 10, eight. The Riverdale
Chieftains picked up a victory, 17, nothing over cashed in. They pounded out 14 hits,
sophomore Ethan Cagle led the way, going two for four with two doubles and six RBI. Ethan
also pitched four innings of no hit balls, striking out eight. Senior Brandon Mies could pitch
the fifth and nail down the win. Seniors Chase Chitwood and Talon Chiles would each go three for
three. Also Chase would have a double in a triple while Talon would add to RBI. Meanwhile,
senior Gavin Merrill-Bellie would go two for three. The Chieftains did not have an error in the game.
They're now one-on-oh on the young season. The host I will grant in a big conference opener.
We'll have it for you on the radio tonight. I asked Coach Kurt Thompson about the SWAL league.
Yeah, it should be really competitive. I think you're going to see a lot of
as usual, really good teams. I don't know if there's going to be like, you'd say, a powerhouse team.
Maybe Phanamore with all the guys they got returning, but I think everyone else is going to be
kind of even maybe, but you have your traditionally really strong teams, of course, but on Friday,
when we play our grant, I'm looking for them to be a really tough team. They had a really
nice season last year. They have a lot of guys returning from last year's team, so that should be
a really good test. When you look at your team this year, who do you look at as the Chieftains leaders?
Well, I'd say the senior class has to be. I mean, we've got a couple of guys that have played
a number of years on varsity. So the seniors will have to step it up. You know, you're looking at
like Chase Chitwood, Talent Child, Brandon Mease, Gavin Crowe, and Gavin Maribelley are five seniors,
and they're a really good group of guys. They know what it takes, the win, they know what it takes
to have a successful team, and they know how to be good role models. So I think they're going to
do a really good job of leading our team and setting a great example. For 30 game time today,
at Riverdale's Pickering Park, the SWAL getting underway with games. Southwestern was a 10-nothing
winner over Argal Black Hawk yesterday, Bangor over Luther, five-three, and Dodgeville beat Highland,
seven-three, and baseball. The SWAL openers today also include Cuba City at Phenomore,
Darling to the Middle Point, and Bosca Bell at Southwestern.
