Good morning with a look at sports on WRC OFM, I'm Adam Has.

The Milwaukee Brewers opened the 2025 MLB season with a 4-2 loss to the New York Yankees

on Thursday.

Freddie Peralta took the defeat for the crew, rookie third baseman Vinnie Capra, pounded

his first big league home run in the third inning, and Bryce Tarrang knocked in another

run with a sack fly in the ninth.

The Yankees hit two homers, Milwaukee will start former Yankee Nestor Cortes today,

after an off day on Friday.

Today's game can be heard on WRC OFM 107.7 and AM 1450.

Brewer Hickland is no longer a Milwaukee Brewer.

The outfielder has been traded by the Brewers to the Detroit Tigers for cash.

The move comes a day after he was designated for assignment.

The 29-year-old Hickland scored a run, but won hitless in four played appearances from

Milwaukee a season ago, while appearing in six games.

He hit 246 with 22 home runs, 72 RBI's and 44 steals in 115 games played with AAA

Nashville.

When Milwaukee called him up last September, it marked the first time in franchise history

that the Brewers roster had a player named Brewer.

The Wisconsin Badger Football program has lost the recruitment battle for Wisconsin's

top high school prospect to the Minnesota Golden Gofers.

Offensive tackle Gavin Meyer has given UW's hated rivals a verbal commitment earlier

this week.

Meyer had a dozen offers from Division I programs.

He still has an official visit scheduled for Madison in June, but it isn't known if

he will take it or not following Wednesday's announcement.

Now turning our attention to the NFL and the Green Bay Packers, linebacker Christian Welch

is rejoining the Green Bay Packers in a move that could boost their special teams.

Welch previously played for the Packers in 2023, the 26-year-old played six games with

the Denver Broncos and nine with the Baltimore Ravens a year ago.

He made one start for each of those teams and had a fumble recovery for the Ravens.

He played in 12 regular season games and two playoff contests for the Packers in 2023.

Welch didn't play a defensive snap that year, but was on the field for nearly half

of the Packers special teams plays.

The Packers are expected to take at least one offensive lineman in next month's 2025

NFL draft, but the team will wait.

This year's field of college prospects is so deep on that line that the Green Bay front

office apparently thinks it can get a quality athlete on day three.

Aaron Banks was a top choice in the draft last year.

The Packers are expected to take a look for size and athleticism, but they also require

incoming players to be versatile, able to move up and down the offensive line.

We now continue with more sports for your Saturday on WRC OFM.

Two big 10 teams fall out of the tournament.

Milosew's Dan Sword for an uncontested layup on a beautifully executed inbound play, with

0.9 seconds left, and number one seed Houston survived a late collapse to beat fourth seeded

Purdue, 62-60, and the sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament.

Houston led 56-46 with just under 8 minutes remaining, but made only one field goal from

there until U.I.S. TAN's tie-breaking bucket.

He imbounded the ball from the baseline to Joseph Tuggler, who threw a bounce pass back

to Yuzan, the 6-4 junior took it from there, and he took it to the rim.

Coach Kelvin Samson's Cougars advanced to the Elite 8, for the third time in five years,

they'll face number two Tennessee tomorrow.

Freshman Tahad Pettiford and senior Denver Jones turned in dazzling performances when

it mattered most, rallying topsteaded all burned to a 78-65 win over Big Ten's Michigan

in the sweet 16 of the NCAA's tournament.

The Tigers wiped out a 9-point deficit in the second half, outscoring number five seed

Michigan 39-17 over the final 12-and-a-half minutes to advance to the Elite 8 for only

the third time in school history.

Allburn will face Michigan State in the South Region final Sunday, with a trip to

the final four on the line.

Johnny Broom scored 22, along with grabbing 16 rebounds for Auburn, Pettiford and Jones

scored 20 points a piece.

One Big Ten team survived play on Friday, that would be Michigan State, they defeated Mississippi

73-70, Tennessee got by Kentucky 78-67.

In National College Football News Colorado Coach, Primetime.

The On Sanders has received a contract extension through the 2029 season after turning around

a downtrodden program in just two years.

The school said the extension increases Sanders' salary based to 10 million in 2025, making

him the highest paid coach in the Big 12.

The deal was reached with three years remaining on Sanders existing five-year 29-and-a-half

million-dollar deal he signed when he was brought in from Jackson State.

Sanders and the Buffaloes are coming up a nine-and-four season in which they earned a spot

in the Alamo Bowl.

The Tampa Rays are homeless, and the Yankees come to the rescue.

Left homeless after Hurricane Milton destroyed the Tropicana Field roof on October 9th,

the Tampa Bay Rays began their season as renters at Steinbrenner Field, the spring-creening

headquarters for the Evil Empire, the New York Yankees, playing the Colorado Rockies

and the final Major League opener.

The Rays placed more than 30,000 images around the area in the 11,000 capacity ballpark

during a quick 120-hour makeover after the Yankees final home spring-creening game ended

Sunday at 333.

By the time yesterday's first pitch happened shortly after 4 p.m., banners spelling R-A-Y-S

covered the banners that would spell Y-N-K-E-E-S above first and third base.

And being in a rented facility went okay last night for Tampa Bay, they defeated Colorado

and interleague play three to two.

Two other interleague finals, the Mets down Houston three to one, the Dodgers three

better than Detroit eight to five.

And the Junior Circuit Toronto beat up on Baltimore eight to two, Texas three better than

Boston four to one, and the athletics blanked Seattle seven nothing.

National League finals Pittsburgh four to three over Miami, Arizona eight Chicago Cubs

one and San Diego edge Atlanta by a final of four to three.
