I'm Phil Ney with sports. The Southwest Wisconsin Conference, all conference boys basketball teams have been announced.

Platteville was the undefeated champion of the league with 10 wins under the belt this year.

Lancaster 7 and 3, River Valley 5 and 5, Dodgeville and Richland Center both went 4 and 6 and

pre-reducing 0 and 10. First team all conference, Bryce Krubal Lockert, the junior from Dodgeville,

was named the unanimous first team selection. Lancaster's Zach Hermeson is a first

teamer, along with Myron Ryder of Platteville, a junior and senior Lucas Ludlum of Platteville,

a senior, also West Bosworth of Richland Center, a senior and Houston Fatcher, a River Valley

a senior, round out the first team all conference. Second team members include from Dodgeville,

Jason Halverson, Lancaster's Michael Murphy and Taylor Williams,

Platteville's Eli Langmeyer and Nathan Mum and River Valley's Caleb Drakenberg.

The album mention list includes from Dodgeville, John McGraw and Andrew Hesling,

from Lancaster Dane Kaufman and Brady Schmitz, Platteville's Jonah Vorwald and Geron Blevans,

from Prairie Dushin, Brady Lenzendorf and Sam Kramer, River Valley's Lucas Klein, a junior

and Richland Center junior Brady Dosh and sophomore Jaden Shep, make the album mention list.

Also from the Sportsmanship Awards, Sawyer Garthway Dodgeville, Tyler Timmerman, Lancaster,

Platteville's Trenton Mum, Nick McCulloch, Prairie Dushin, Garrison Weiss, Richland Center

and Sam Poppy of River Valley. The player of the year for the second year in a row in the

conference is Platteville's Lucas Ludlum and coach Mike Hoosier of Platteville was recognized

as coach of the year. I talked to Richland Center boys basketball coach Brian Poles about the end

of the year. You know, we had recognition for West Bosworth. He made the first team.

West had a really great year for us. He was our most valuable player. I think as other teams

played us, their scouting report really focused on him. He's one of the best rebounders we've

ever had at go through our high school. He ended up with almost 600 rebounds for a career.

He averaged a double-double this year. His ability to score around the rim.

As the season progressed, he got a little bit more comfortable. It was interesting. Beginning of

the year, teams really obviously knew who he was coming off a really good year last year.

So it took a little while offensively to find a little bit more rhythm. But I thought he did a

great job of finding that and playing within himself. He really seconded on our team and assists.

So did all those things for us and really deserving of that first team. And then having

to recognize, as Anvil mentioned, and coming back next year, we're really excited.

Jaden Schapp had a really good year improving from his freshman campaign to this year.

His shooting improved, his shot selection. So a lot of good improvement there. And then Brady

Dosh had another really nice year for us. Improved offensively, but for Brady, it was really his

defensive presence that got him that recognition. Always assigned the best score on the perimeter

score on the other team. And there were nights where he just did a really fantastic job. So I was

really pleased with what happened. You got to be playing some pretty good ball. Do you think you

were playing your best at the end of the season, Brian? I think we were. It took us a little

longer to get there. I think that is something that, you know, we as the coaching staff, we focus on

every year. And I think looking back on these, you know, these last four or five years, I think we

can generally say that we have been playing our best ball at the end of the year. And that's

what you want to, of course. And I think the Platteville game really showed that we had a great

win in the first round against Evansville at their place. But then to go to Platteville, a team

that really, you know, handled this quite easily the first two times in the regular season.

I thought our guys played so, so hard, so great. They really bought into, you know, what we wanted

to do, how we wanted to play them. It just ended up where we couldn't quite sustain it for all 36

minutes. But man, they put up a heck of a fight. It was really fun to be a part of.

Well, looking ahead, I know you're going to lose some really great individuals. But, you know,

very competitive JV season. I think you got to be optimistic for the future, Brian.

We absolutely are. I think it goes to what you said, we have, we have some kids coming up from

the JV that are going to be able to step in and help. We have a lot coming back. You look at

our guards and really, you know, to have the experience at the guard position with, with

Jay and Chef and Brady Dosh getting all those quality minutes in the recognition. We're excited

for next year. We're going to still have size and size. Liam Fingerson had a great year. You

could make an argument. He should have been recognized by the conference. Kaisen Schwickenberg

improved throughout the season. So, you add that with, you know, we have a really, really good

freshman class this year that's moving up. A couple of those kids, you know, if they have good

summers, we'll see where that lands. And then, you know, our youth program is in a really good spot.

So, we're, we're really looking forward to these, these next few years.

Bristol Center Boys Basketball Coach, Brian Pulse. Merchants league bowling action last night.

It was AutoZone with a top series, 28.91, bubbling springs 28.66,

Walsh's Ace Hardware 28.50, team high game AutoZone 10.75, Gogger salvage, and Walsh's Ace Hardware

with 1,05 games and Goblin Insurance at 9.99. Matt Fargeon had a 702 series, Jason Gurner,

688, Lucas Linvig, 676. Jeff Seckman with a 279. It was Dakota Pulse with a second best game,

255. Matt Fargeon rolled a 253. And Jamie Parr sub-done the league action last night. She had a 568

series and a 227 game in the Merchants bowling league. WIA State Boys basketball tournament

gets underway today at the Cole Center in Madison, Elk Mound, and Freedom play at 1.35 in the

first game of the tournament. That will continue through the weekend with five champions crowned on

Saturday. It's a basketball lover's dream in the state. The second best shooting team in the

country has upset on its mind as the Montana Grizzlies take on the Badgers. Montana hit just over

50% of its shots this season. That doesn't impress the odds makers who have established Wisconsin

as a 17 and a half point favorite in tonight's first round game. The Grizzlies have had a

week of rest while the Badgers have had just three days. There is speculation that Coach Greg

Garrett's team could have a hard time with a thin air in Denver. The Badgers Max Closment knows

that Badger fans travel well. Badger fans travel well. Remember a couple of months ago when we were

in Greenbrier for the Thanksgiving tournament, how many Badger fans were there and how loud that got.

So it should be electric. I think we're super excited. I've never been to Denver before, so it's

cool to see a new venue. Get out here, play with the nuggets play, but you know, it'll be a

year red tomorrow. You know, we're excited to see you and we're happy for the opportunity.

And here is Steven Crowe. Like most mid majors, they got a lot of shooters. They're a little

undersized, but for what we saw, they play really hard. Obviously, they're a really talented team.

I don't know how many they've rattled off down the season, but it was double digits I think, but

I think it's more about us than anything. That's not just against Montana. I think that's against

whoever we play. So we're just more focused on us and we can get better. The 1130 pregame time,

1230 tip off time on WRC FM 107.7 and AM 1450 Marcus Foster scored 22 and Zach

Fremantle added 15 while overcoming foul trouble as Xavier rallied past Texas 86 80 in a first four

game at Dayton of the Musketeers. He raised a 13 point deficit in their biggest comeback win

this season. They advanced to play number six seed Illinois on Friday night in Milwaukee.

Marquette will have to rely on its tough defense in Friday's first round game against the new

Mexico Lobos. Cam Jones has been playing his best ball of the season, averaging 28 points

a game over the last three. Elsewhere, in sports, the Vikings have committed to moving forward with

Jay Jay McCarthy as they're starting quarterback this season after deciding not to offer Aaron

Rodgers a contract according to a person with knowledge of the decision. Rodgers was released

last week by the Jets, the departure of Sam Donald left the Vikings ready to turn their offense

over to McCarthy. He was the 10th pick in the 24 draft and whose rookie year was spent

rehabilitating a knee injury. The newest addition to the Packers roster, Nicole Hardman,

may be given the job of kick returner. The 27 year old Hardman has experience with that job

during his first six NFL seasons. He's not the number one receiver running back. Josh Jacobs

urged the front office to obtain Green Bay took a pass on standouts like DK Metcalf.

Yesterday, the Brewers won a spring training game five four and the Cubs lost a real deal game

as they fell to the Dodgers in Japan six to three. I'm Filney with sports.
