I'm Phil Knee for WRCO Sports.
The Riverdale wrestling team is underway with its season and they'll be at the Richland
Invitational Wrestling Tournament on Saturday and Marcus Singles takes over the program.
This season, he talked about the start of the season for us.
We've been doing well, we're down a couple of kids in the middle, but we got a great young
group of kids at the beginning and a bunch of pins for us, so we went in a couple of
little mates because of that.
We've only wrestled basketball and Jonathan Blackhawk and we beat both of them.
There wasn't very many matches against basketball because we didn't match up well that way, but
we won two out of three matches, and then Jonathan Blackhawk, the only way we beat them
is to tend everybody we wrestled and we pinned everybody and lost one match.
Marcus Singles had coach of the Riverdale wrestling team.
He'll be at the Richland Invitational Wrestling Tournament on Saturday.
During the day, they will be inducting new members into the Richland Wrestling Hall of
Honor.
That'll happen just before the finals.
This will be the 25th induction ceremony since the institution of the Hall of Honor in
1999.
So many have been in there since that time and many deserving and this year very deserving
a new inductees will include Todd Gunderson from the class of 1985, Shea Buckfisch from the
class of 1992, Justin Lamberies from the class of 1996, and longtime educator and 20-year
head wrestling coach at the Richland Middle School, Andy Spees.

Other girls games, Boscabel at Richland Center, this week I spoke with Richland Center
Girls Coach Jeremy Kui about how it's been going, get ready for Boscabel at this point
you know much about them.
I've been able to find a couple games to scout, honestly I don't know a ton about them but
we're able to see what kind of what they're working on offense defense and we're pretty
strong game plan heading into the game.
How's the team been improving, what areas do you think you're doing well in?
Well it's been nice to have this week with no games early in the week so from last Friday
all the way up until the day we've been able to have some time and get in the film room
and kind of break down and see where the opportunities that we've needed to improve together
as a group and then the time on the court to go ahead and you know implement the things
that we saw on film so we're improving and on the offensive end of the court defense
and the hustle has been there you know all year round and now we're just going to clean
some of those things up on offense.
This is an important game because it's your last game before the Christmas break right?
That's correct is our last game we have it at home also having a little bit of a youth
night for we're going to have the kindergarten to third grade this Saturday morning crew that
the varsity girls work with so we're going to have them in attendance and get out on the
court with them a little bit so we're excited to see all that happen and head into Christmas
with a win and set us up for our holiday tournament next Friday.
