The original center high school volleyball team had a successful day on Wednesday when they
opened the season at the Omni Center in Onalaska. The Hornet girls went 4-0 on the first day.
They defeated Bangor, 25-11, 25-16, Cumberland, 25-18, 25-15, Westby, 25-20, and 25-22,
and Bosca Bell, 25-12, 25-11. Coach Jamie Johnson's team will face Onalaska today. They are
also 4-0 after the first day. The match will determine who plays in the final four of the tournament
going on at the Omni Center in Onalaska. Boy Saker opens up for lots of teams today. Richland
Center will have an on-conference test at Wisconsin Heights High School against Wisconsin Heights
Barnabelle. Kickoff time six o'clock tonight for Coach Tom Stadler's team. Arcadia travels to
Prairie Dushin River Ridge, Seneca. Cooley Christian Providence is at Adams' Friendship. Black
River Falls, Melrose Mendoro is playing at Wisconsin Dells, Dodgeville Mineral Point at Monroe,
and Platteville Lancaster at Evansville as well. Richland Center opens the soccer season tonight.
They will have the scrimmage against the Alumni Legends at 11 o'clock on Saturday morning.
High School football, a lot of games in the Madison area tonight. Waterford will play at Middleton.
It's also a game for Lake Mills hosting Marshall and Menona Grove at Madison LaFallet.
Wasaw East is at LaCrosse Logan and Ellsworth at LaCrosse Central in LaCrosse area.
It was a great opening night win for the Richland Center Hornets last week at Toma,

You know, I mean, these kids have bought in. They've done a heck of a job with their offseason
commitment. You know, and so to get that win, you know, against a division three team, especially a
division three team that's on a watch list, you know, for the state. Just gives confirmation that
what we're doing, what we're asking these kids to do for us, you know, is just which working.
And it's working well. And we're just going to use that possible momentum as we go into, you know,
week two. I asked Coach Troxel, let's stuck out in the win.
Yeah, you know, we have a new offensive coordinator this year. And so we're going to be a run first
and run heavy offense. So, you know, we ended up with 193 total yards on the day. 140 of those,
were rushing. And then we had some clutch throws through the air. Leading Russia for us would have
been West Bosworth with 74 yards. And then Brady Dosh was also a threat with 33, you know. And then
through the air, we didn't throw a lot. But when we threw, it was a high percentage. So it was three
out of four, you know, for 54 yards. And one of those was a touchdown by Brady Dosh. So, you know,
overall, I think we ran what we expected to. You know, Toma didn't take us out of our game plan,
you know, at any point in the ball game. And the kids executed extremely well.
I thought you really had to persevere because you came back twice. And I'll see you had to stop
them on their final drive, didn't you? Oh, absolutely. You know, I mean, they opened up
play from the 20 yard line after we had a touchback. And they ran the first play from scrimmage
for 80 yards for a touchdown. You know, and so you look at that and go, oh boy, it might be a long
night really fast. But just kind of a credit to our coaching staff and our boys, you know,
if they didn't let that rattled their cage, you know, and so defensively, they came back and
they really shut him down the rest of the first quarter, second quarter. Toma made some good
adjustments in the third and scored on that opening drive of theirs. But then our defense just
was stout and held their ground for the rest of the game. And then, yeah, the last four seconds,
they had a shot to throw it up and go ahead and for the go ahead score. And our boys just,
but not today. The Hornets will play their home opener on Friday night when they take on Potosi
Castville. Also, the Ithaca Bulldogs enjoyed an opening win last Friday night over Riverdale.
It was a big night for several players, including Wyatt Hilby who rushed for 210 yards and four
touchdowns. I talked to co head coach Kyle Kelly this week about the victory. The fact that we
had a lot of people in positions they never really played before and they excelled in those positions.
When you look at some of the other performances there, you know, 200 plus yards for your running back,
and that was a good way for Hilby to start the season, wasn't it? Yeah, that was pretty awesome
to see because he's been wanting to go back there for a long time. And then some things
fell his way so he could have that opportunity. He made the most of it and hopefully continued to do
so for the rest of the season. The Bulldogs return home for the home opener against
Wasika Stubin-Seneca on Friday night at seven o'clock. Freddie Peralta gave the Brewers the type
of start they needed in Wednesday's five three win over the San Francisco Giants.
Peralta will break the Giants for six innings and got the win after his teammates rallied for
five runs in the fifth. William Contreras founded his 18th home run and he and Blake Perkins both
drove in two runs. Devon Williams slammed the door in the ninth inning for his sixth save.

I don't think that I haven't lost the confidence in the whole season but you know sometimes
things go like no on your way. I told you guys before that I knew at some point I'm gonna
feel good like you know everything was going to work again. And I think that I've been seeing that
a little bit now. You just keep it that way. I'm working hard. It's what I've been doing.
And manager Pat Murphy talked about Jackson Cheerio who's been coming through with some clutch
hits. You know I see a lot of things in Jackson. You know I see a lot of a lot of positives and
I see some things he needs to to really work on. The game's really really hard and he keeps it
loose and that's great. You know many's got a great feel for it. That was a big hit for us and
he's got to remember it's an opposite field ground ball and every big hit's going to be 459.

beat Minnesota 5 1 and the LA Dodgers over Baltimore 6 to 4 the final score. Packers head coach
Matt LaFloor will be counting on a rookie kicker for the second straight season hours after last
year's rookie Anders Carlson was cut veteran Greg Joseph followed him out the door. For now
Braden Narvisin will do the kicking Green Bay claimed him from the Tennessee Titans. Narvisin
put on an impressive performance during training camp. He connected on six of seven field goal attempts
during the preseason including a 59 yarder. The kicking game failed LaFloor more than once last year.
He has to hope that this move could fix the problem. This is uncharted territory. I would say that
I've been in in my time in the league. So it's just yeah you just gotta come in and perform. I
don't know how else to put it, you know, but it's a it's definitely a unique situation.
And LaFloor talked about getting a new backup up to speed after the team was able to get a hold
of Malik Willis after he was cut this week. And that would they possibly bring back Sean Clifford
for a week or so as a backup? Absolutely. I think we have confidence in him. You know, I told Sean
I think we've seen him play better than all the things we saw throughout the course of the off
season. I would say from training camp and in those preseason games, he's just got to get back
to really the core fundamentals that allow you to play the game fast. And you know, reading with
your feet is one of those, but we certainly still have a lot of confidence in Sean and the packers
first game is coming up next Friday, September 6th. Corn mases around Wisconsin celebrate the
coming of the NFL draft to the state next year. A collaboration between the 2025 draft local
organizing committee and several family farms will salute the agricultural history of Wisconsin
and bring attention to the April event in Green Bay. With the kickoff of the NFL regular season
nearing, corn mases with football theme designs will open throughout September in Ripon,
Chilton, Stevens Point and Bondwell. The draft is expected to draw a quarter million fans in

There's no doubt that six foot five guard Gary Trent Jr. will be an important edition for the
box, but one analyst says the X factor needed to return to the NBA title game was already on the
roster behind the buck pass.com says veteran Chris Middleton is that player Middleton missed nearly
half of his team's games the last two seasons. If he can just join Yana sounded a cumpo and
Damien Lillard on the court at the same time, the aging bucks would have more than enough firepower
to make a run. Middleton had two more surgeries during the off season when healthy he can still fill it
