With a look at sports and W-R-C-O-F-M, I'm Adam Hess.

While the Milwaukee Brewers didn't make any major splashes at the trade deadline, they

did fortify their location in Park by bringing in veteran, writing Frankie Montaz, who became

the 17th pitcher to start a game for the crew when he made his team debut last night at

Nationals Park.

17, that's the most in the majors this season, and it matches the franchise record, set

by the 1969 Seattle Pilots, who were far from first place by this point in that season.

Montaz gave the Brewers exactly what they expected, and the offense provided plenty of support,

as Milwaukee's newest addition earned the win and the 8-3 victory over the Nationals.

Garrett Mitchell and Blake Perkins both provided two run hits from the number 9 spot in the

order, and William Contreras provided some cushion with a long home run in the 7th,

as Milwaukee began August on a high note with an 8-3 win over the Nationals last evening

in DC.

Other National League Finals, it was the Cubs doubling up on St. Louis 6-3, San Fran

Blanc Cincinnati 3-0, as Blake Schnell pitched his first career no-hitter last night, striking

now 10, as the Giants beat the Reds 3-0.

The reigning NL-Sai Young Award winner walked 3 and threw 114 pitches, 78 for strikes, and

his first complete game in 202 Major League starts.

The 31-year-old Schnell recorded the 18th no-hitter in Giants franchise history, and the third

in the Major's this season, Casey Schmitt and Tyler Fitzgerald homerred for the Giants.

Atlanta beat Miami 5-3 Arizona 9-8 over Pittsburgh, Colorado 8-5 to win against San Diego.

American League Finals KC 9-2 over Detroit, it was Cleveland with a win over Baltimore 8-4.

Toronto 8-the Yankees 5, Minnesota topping the Shy Sox X-10-2, Houston 8-3 to win over

Tampa Bay, and Boston 11-Texas 6.

Three games from the Inter League schedule last night, Oakland 6-5 over the Dodgers, Seattle

8-10-2, Thumpin of Philadelphia, and the Metz over the Angels 5-1.

Yankees' second baseman, Glaber Torres, was removed from an 8-5 loss to Toronto last

night by manager Aaron Boone for Nav Hustling, sending a message to the clubhouse of a team

that has struggled since mid-June.

Torres did not run hard out of the batter's box on his second inning drive off the left

field wall thinking it was a home run, and he only reached on a single.

That cost the Yankees a run when he was thrown out at the plate trying to score on Anthony

Volpe's 2-0 double into the left field corner in the second inning.

Three times, Shy Young Award winner and baseball's career active strikeout leader Mack

Scherzer has been placed on the 15-day injured list because of a right shoulder fatigue.

Scherzer, who made only eight starts since his season debut June 23 following off season

back surgery, and then dealing with a nerve issue in his arm.

Manager Bruce Bochi says he doesn't expect Scherzer to be out any longer than the 15-day

IEL Stint, the manager says they want him to have the rest of the season on the team,

which is why they're giving him a break right now.

The competition's not over yet, but the Green Bay Packers could be headed for their third

extra point in field goal kicker in three years.

So far, Green Bay training camp kicking battle is being won by challenger Greg Joseph.

He kicked for the Minnesota Vikings a season ago.

He was seven for seven in the last practice before family night while the incumbent Anders

Carlson was four for seven.

Rookie James Turner was released earlier in the week.

How the competitors due to night in front of family night crowd could be the deciding factor.

Three Wisconsin Badgers have been named to the preseason all big Ken volleyball team.

The conference preseason pool was released Thursday.

Nebraska is the favorite to win the title Wisconsin the second choice coming off a season

with a 30-in-4 record and another appearance in the national final four.

Carter Booth, Sarah Franklin and Anna Schmack were honored.

Sarah Franklin is returning a VCA national player of the year and big 10 player of the year.

The Badgers opened the season August 20th with an exhibition matchup against Bradley

at the UW Field House.

A week later, they opened the regular season plane in the A-V-C-A first-serve showcase in

Lexington, Kentucky.

Joshua Chategi of Uganda took the lead with a little more than a lap left in a masterpiece

of a 10,000 meter race to finish an Olympic record time of 26 minutes 43.14 seconds in

front of a roaring crowd on an electric opening night at the track.

The world record holder raced in the middle of a strung out pack for most of the 25 laps

on the calm cool evening in Estade de France.

He then took off and held the lead over the final 500 meters against a crowd of Ethiopians

who set a blistering pace all night.

Ethiopia's Barahu Agara beat American Grand Fischer in a sprint to the line for silver.

Fischer's bronze medal marked the first time for the U.S. in the longest race of the

Olympic track since Gaelin Robt took silver in 2012.

Lil Mashaun completed his dominating run through the Paris Olympics, capturing his fourth

swimming gold with another runaway victory in the 200 meter individual Medley Friday night.

The 22 year old French star left no doubt he'll be remembered as one of the biggest stars

of the summer games in his home country.

He touched an Olympic record of one minute 54.06 seconds just missing Brian Locke's 13 year

old world record.

That was about the only thing he didn't accomplish at a lot of defense arena where he

had previously won the 400 I.M. 200 butterfly and 200 backstroke.

The latter two about two hours apart on the same night.

Before Mashaun's triumph, Cameron McAvoy and Kaley McEwan captured more gold for Australia.

The team from down under now has seven gold medals more than any other nation.

At just 17 years old, Canadian swimming star Summer Macintosh is leaving Paris with an

impressive haul of Olympic medals.

She already has a silver in the 400 meter freestyle and golds and the 400 individual Medley

and 200 butterfly.

She's chasing another 200 I.M. today.

She was second fastest out of the 200 I.M. semis finishing two minutes 8.306 seconds

behind American Alex Walsh's 207.45.

Simone Biles' second Olympic all-around gymnastics title is a testament to her mental and physical

toughness.

The 27 year old has long relied on both during a career that's made her the greatest of

all time in her sport.

The mental health advocate practiced what she preached during the all-around final, Biles

closed her eyes and reset herself after two rotations and responded with fabulous routines

on balance beam and floor exercise that made her the third woman in Olympic history

to claim national multiple all-around international crowns.

Young Bears fans standing in waving signs in the front row behind Chicago sideline pleaded

with Caleb Williams to sign their mini helmets before the Hall of Fame game.

Davey, Orange and White, number 18 jerseys filled the stands and the Hall of Fame Village

as fans from Chicago toured the museum and checked out the bronze busts of Mike Dittka,

Walter Payton, Dick Butkis, Mike Singletary and other bear legends.

Devon Hester and Steve McMichael will join that elite group on Saturday.

Williams plans to wear a gold jacket one day.

The 2022 Heisman Trophy winner from USC was selected with the first overall pick in the

NFL draft and he has set lofty goals for the Bears and for himself.

And Norland St. Special Teams coach Darren Rizzy says he felt like a real estate agent when

he is urging kickers to scrap their long held deep ball approach to kickoffs and focus

on, quote, location, location, location.

Most NFL kickers that spent their previous playing days blasting the ball as deep as possible.

New NFL kickoff rules are focusing them to change coaches say the rule could also potentially

create more opportunities for foreign foot sport athletes.

The rule now places the ball on the 30 yard line for touchbacks and at the 40 if the ball

lay in short of the 20 or out of bounds.

The rule debuted during the Hall of Fame game between Chicago and Houston of eight kickoffs.

One was a touchback.

That's a look at sports on WRC OFM for your Saturday.
