The River Valley girls soccer team lost a hard fought marathon game to Regis McDonald's
Central Catholic, four, three and over time Saturday.
Black Hawks were regional champs and won the first game of the sectional before Saturday's
loss.
They led in the contest three to one before their opponent came back to tie the game and
send it into over time.
Regis McDonald's Central Catholic advances to the WIA State Soccer Tournament that begins
Thursday in Milwaukee.
The Southwest Conference All Conference Soccer selections have been named and announced
by the conference, Dodgeville Middlepoint won the league, going 802, River Valley was
second at eight one and one, followed by Platteville Lancaster at five and five, Prairie
Dushin River Ridge Senica, four, four and two, Galena Eastabuc was two, seven and one,
at Richland Center, zero, ten and zero.
First team all conference at Goli, Christina Vinger, a junior from Dodge Point, defenders
included, River Valley's Addy Lilla, a senior, Dodge Point's Abbey Ludwig and Ella Wilson
and Platteville Lancaster's Carly Vesperman.
Midfielders Dodge Points, Katie Sheckle and Christina Collier, Prairie Dushin River

The WIA State Softball Tournament concluded over the weekend.
The Division I titleist was Kenosha Bradford after a 9-3 win against Milton, while upon one
the Division II crown, 7-3 against Mozini.
Division III Prescott was number one with a 3-1 winner against Laconia and the softball
Division IV championship went to Fall Creek after stopping Cuba City 7-0.
Division V Pachelli was a 4-3 winner over Oakfield.
The WIA State Baseball Tournament gets underway today with Division I quarter finals.
Arrowhead and Westosha Central will get underway at 9 followed by Depear and Manasha.
The afternoon session of 230 features Sun Prairie East and Hudson and Oak Creek and Nicolay.
Games will continue later tonight and then tomorrow in divisions 4-3 and 2.
On the State scene, the Detroit Tigers avoided a 3-game sweep by winning Sunday Series
finale by a score of 10-2.
The Tigers exploded for 8 runs in the 5th inning, eliminating any doubts about the winning
side.
That explosion knocked losing pitcher Bryce Wilson out of the game.
Morris Hughes manager Pat Murphy, I think for ending 2-3-4, he was great, had his
cutter and his sinker, but the first inning and other inning, if you're Bryce, you can't
walk people.
That's not his ticket to be an effective starter.
Milwaukee returns home to host Toronto in a series starting tonight.

Ernie L's won for the second straight week on the PGA tour champions, winning the American
Family Insurance Championship on Sunday when tournament host Steve Stricker missed a
two and a half foot putt on the first hole of a playoff.
L's and defending champion Stricker shared the second round lead and each shot 369 in
windy conditions to finish at 12 under 204 at University Ridge.
L's won for the fifth time on the senior tour.
Stricker is winless this year.

Profit ball focus rated Slayton second for his efficiency when aligning in a one technique
position.
His performance is sometimes overshadowed by teammates like Kenny Clark and Davante
Wyatt, but his runstop percentage was tops on the Green Bay defense, incoming defensive
