I'm Phil Ney with sports, the WIA baseball tournaments continued yesterday with sectional
semi-finals and games played at Blair Taylor yesterday.
First of all, it was a victory for a leave a strum over Pitzville for nothing on in the
other semi-final Royal edge to Soto.
That final score was nine one in the championship game.
A leave a strum got the win against Royal in a tight two one ball game.
They advanced to state Johnson Creek moves on.
The 14-2 six inning victory in their game against Barnaveld.
Barnaveld earlier in the day had knocked off pechatonica.
Eight three in division three yesterday.
Aquinas was a nine three winner at Prairie Dushin in the championship game against
Newgleris.
Newgleris earlier in the day had one for nothing in the game against Marshall and Aquinas
at end of the year for Verokwa 12-2 in six innings also advancing from division two.
Edgewood was a three two victor in the semi-final over Readsburg and the other early game
Wapan was a four one victor against Jefferson.
In the title game, Edgewood got the win 10-5 to advance to the WIA state tournament next
week.
Three divisions were crowned at champions at the state boys golf tournament yesterday.
One a key one the division one team championship with a four player 36 hole score of 619 for
the two day tournament.
The Warriors won their first boys golf team title in their third state appearance.
Lakeland won its first boys golf team championship in the Thunderbirds eighth state appearance, capturing
the division two title with a four player 27 hole score of 463.
And Mineral Point claimed the division three team championship after finishing runner-up
last year and third in 2022.
The pointer's first state team title in eight appearances should tech wire house
your finish runner up with a score of 503 senior Logan Weissinger of Durand Arkansas was
the division three individual medalist at plus five with a score of one 13 on 27 holes.
Last year's champion senior Kean Bristol Flores of Cambridge tied for second place senior

They each had a plus six and shooting scores of one 14 state track concluded over the weekend.
There certainly were some highlights Michael Hernan has more state boys and girls track and
field championships produced 18 champions and 117 event champions at veterans memorial
field sports complex Saturday arrowhead won the division one boys team championship for
the fourth year in a row by accumulating 60 points.
And Alalaska was runner up with 44 points in division two lakeside Lutheran rolled to
the title with 81 points 44 points more than second place Somerset with 37 points.
Iola Scandinavia was the team champion in division three with 45 points and Stratford finished
second with 34 points.
Arrowhead also won the division one girls team title compiling 67 points.
It marks the first time in the division one that both genders have won the team championships
in the same year in the division two senior Kaden Ramba a big foot successfully cleared
17 to in the pole vault to set the record in the event and Gavin sergeant of Lodi broke
the triple jump record with the distance of 47 and nine a half.
The division three pole vault record also fell with a 16 six effort by senior Sam Crenshaw
of Bangor also in division three senior Charlie Vader of Iola Scandinavia won the 32 meter
one with the record time of nine minutes and two point fifty seven seconds.
There were four girls records set in division two sophomore Alala Uden of Aseola race to a
pair of new records in winning the 100 and 300 hurdles with the times of 14 point 19 seconds
and 43 point 27 seconds respectively senior Mackenzie Whistbrocker of anago set the record in the
long jump with a leap of 19 five and the new Berlin West 800 meter relay won their preliminary
heat with a record time of a minute and 41.52 seconds before winning the title in the final.
Aaron Moore of Lord's Academy owns the division three record in the 800 run after winning the event
in a time of two minutes and 10 point 48 seconds and the camera and 16 meter relay won their
preliminary heat with a record time of three minutes and 57.44 seconds before winning the title in
the final in the boys wheelchair events Gianni Cantaro of Marquette won the 800 race in a record time
of a minute and 56.02 seconds and senior Grant Shipley of Baron set the record in the shop put
with a throw of 27 to there were several champions that have won multiple individual event titles
in the same event during their careers including one four time winner and a pair of three time gold
medalists senior Iliana Shipley of Rice Lake won her four division two championship in the 400
dash with a time of 55.85 seconds junior Luchi ice pyro of Amory won her third division two title
in the 100 dash with the time of 11.92 seconds and Smith won his third crown in the boys division
one shot putt 18 individuals one more than one state title in the meet including two wheelchair
athletes and a boys distance runner that won three titles sophomore Megan Eggstad of Sun Prairie East
was the champion in the 408 hundred races in addition to the shot putt and Cantaro won the boys
100 400 and 800 wheelchair races junior Manny putts of Anna Laska also won three events
earning titles in the 1600 and 3200 runs as well as being a member of the winning 3200 meter relay
