I'm Phil me with W RCO sports, the Richland Center baseball team with a busy schedule.
Of course, a lot of things are iffy for today.
It's very doubtful that anybody will play a spring sport outside today.
The Hornets were scheduled to open at home against Austin.
It's been moved to Woodside Sports Complex in Austin, but we'll see about that.
We'll check out some stuff from the Richland Center baseball team as they anticipate their
opener and coach Ryan Lemke talked about practice days being better than when you actually
have games scheduled.
It's really disappointing.
I think I checked a forecast on Saturday afternoon and it said Tuesday was supposed to
be 50 and sunny and I got really excited and thinking they know what a parallel universe
that we live in where opening day is going to be nice and then I'm sure it's two days
later I checked the forecast and 36, 37 and snow and rain so it's just it's part of it
snow and playing baseball and stuff.
That's just a compliment.
You got to earn your keep with some of this stuff before you get the nice weather.
Well, I know your team was improving at the end of last year and what areas you think
you're going to be strong in here to start the year.
Yeah, I think we've got a lot of, they were young last year, but young talent from last
year coming back.
I think we lost two seniors essentially and we have a great freshman group coming in
and some freshmen that are going to help us right away.
So I think we've improved in a lot of positions around the field.
I think it starts with our number three hitter, our shortstop and our number one pitcher
with Lane Miller.
I think he is on the verge of being absolutely dominant.
He's got something to prove you a little chip on his shoulder after being a second team
guy from last year with the second highest batting average in the conference so he felt
like he got snubbed so I think he's on a mission to prove some people wrong this year.
What about the conference, is it the usual suspects we should expect to be contenders
this year?
Yeah, I don't know.
The conference is kind of strange this year, normally you look at preseason and there's
a lot of guys from a Dodgeville or Prairie, we're going to be careful with him, but there's
not any of those guys this year.
I truly think it's a five horse race this school year or this season for the conference
championship and I think it's wide open so we'll see what everyone's going but since
I've been here it's the most wide open I've seen it so we're in a really good spot.
We obviously got to play well, we got to do what we know how to do and we got to play
confident and comfortable and loose baseball.
I think if we can do those three things, I think we will be right there at the end for
the conference champion.
Richland Center High School baseball coach Ryan Lemke, joining us at the Hornets have
games scheduled at Bosca Bell and at Plattville on Thursday and Friday respectively this week.
The Richland Center's softball team has a scheduled game against Thailand at home today
and the Richland Center soccer girls are scheduled to host Sparta.
Well Wisconsin AP will be naming its all state players this week.
They've named the all state girls state players, Ali Zebel's potential as a basketball
player became clear when she accepted a scholarship from Yukon earlier.
She was named as the player of the year in the state, the coach of the year Jim Ryder
from Pihuahki.
Second team members, Readsburg's Sydney Churny, other Southwestern Wisconsin players,
Audible Mention include Olivia Olsen, a junior with Cuba City, also Isabella Durst, a
sophomore from Barnabelle and a Frank, a junior from Bangor and Margruán, a senior from
Royal High School.
Major bowling league action last night at the Phoenix Center, team high series belonging
to Geary Construction, a 35-53, Frazier home improvement had a 35-32, Cardinal CG a 34-54.
High game honors, Geary Construction, a 12-84, Meister Cheese, a 12-68, and Lonesome Dov
Tavern, a 12-18.
Series high individually, Jeff Seckman with a 7-14, Chris Pardoon rolled a 6-90 and Chris
Huppert, a 6-88.
Top game, Jeff Seckman with a 296, Chris Huppert at 279, Jake Morris at 269, Jeff Frazier
bowled a 6-17 series, 140 over average.
Steve Geary bowled a 661 series, 115 over average.
The St. Louis Milliken scored the last six points of the game to end the season for the Wisconsin
women's basketball team.
They were knocked out of the WNIT Monday night, 65-60.
Coach Marissa Mosley's Badgers finished the season with a 15 and 17 record.
They made three critical turnovers in the final 59 seconds.
Ronnie Porter led Wisconsin with 17 points.
Also talking women's college basketball, Caitlin Clark made nine three pointers and finished
with 41 points and 12 assists in a sensational performance as Iowa knocked defending national
champion LSU out of the women's NCAA tournament with a 94-87 victory, advancing the Hawkeyes
to their second straight final four.
Top seed at Iowa will play Yukon in the national semifinals Friday night in Cleveland.
Turning to baseball, Mets Reliever Johan Ramirez has had his three games suspension reduced
to two games.
Mets Reliever's was accused of intentionally throwing a pitch behind Brewer first-basement
Reese Hoskins, triggering both benches to rush onto the field Saturday.
Tuesday is the second Miss Day for the pitcher.
His manager Carlos Mendoza was also suspended for the incident, but just one game.
He missed Sunday's action.
The Brewer's host Minnesota today from Milwaukee's home opener, 310 first pitch time on WRC EFM
107.7 at AM 1450.

All NBA guard Damien Lillard will miss a second straight game with the Bucks play at Washington
tonight.
The team reports he's dealing with a groin strain.
Lillard is missed six games this season.
Also in the box injury report for the game are Yanis out to the cupo with a sore hamstring.
Chris Middleton with a sprained ankle and Patrick Beverly with a sprained wrist.
Chris Middleton talked about the box and the shape they're in heading toward the playoff
soon.
The Bucks play the Wizards this evening.
