Elsewhere last night, it was a win for Readsburg over Mount Horib, 66-46, and Marshall Beat
Wisconsin Heights 55-32, Wisconsin Del's 57, Boston 29.
In Girls Basketball, the Lancaster Girls Team won against River Valley, 71-23.
It was the last night of the regular season in the Southwest Conference.
The arrows raised to a 39-17 lead at halftime, after making 7-3s in the first 18 minutes.
Jessica Morgan at 19 points to lead Lancaster, Annie Martin and Lily Weber, each had 4-3
pointers, and Megan Crill added 10 points.
Also, Lancaster was 9-16 from the line, as they improved to 4-6 in the conference, and
9-14 overall.
River Valley was led in scoring by Brooklyn Stokes with 7, and Addy Lilla added 6.
She is the lone River Valley senior and the honored her, on senior night.
Lydia Willoughby at 5 points, Karina Osborne and Grace Mori, each had 2, and Alexis
Divini had 1.
The Black Hawks were 2-3 from the line.
The Black Hawks fell to 3-20 overall, and 2-8 in the league.
Lancaster won the GV game, 53-30, over River Valley.
Winning the 71-23 win, Lancaster resigned the start of the WIA Girls Basketball Tournament
on Tuesday, when they traveled to Iowa Grant.
River Valley is an on-conference game tonight at home, against Potosi Castville.
They will travel to Bigfoot High School Tuesday night for the Tournament opener.
Elsewhere last night, Platfield got the win against Richland Center, 65-26 in Girls
Basketball, and it was a win in the evening for Prairie Dushin over Dodgeville.
74-57.
Ithaca grabbed a victory against Seneca, 63-27 in Richland Valley Girls Basketball, while
Kickaboo Edge, North Crawford, 43-39, Wasika Stuban over New Lisbon, 60-32.
In the SWAL, Kymosini 58, and Darlington 22, Mineral Point by 10 over Phenomore, 42-32.
Riverdale was a winner against Southwestern, 52-37.
And Iowa Grant bested Boscowbell 69-58 in the final score, 30 points for Adriana Jelly
of the Iowa Grant Panthers, and on the other side for Boscowbell 39 for the Bulldogs,
Aaron Knowles.
On tonight's schedule in Girls Basketball, Potosi Castville plays at River Valley, and
the Weston J.V. will play at Richland Center.
Boys Basketball Highland at Castville, Mineral Point travels to Riverdale, Phenomore
and Iowa Grant, Darlington at Boscowbell, Westby is at Black River Falls, Luther at Verokwa,
Austin at Watoma, Nacusa at Wisconsin Dells, Adams friendship plays at Westfield.
River Valley is at Dodgeville, Richland Center at Prairie Dushin, Landcaster is at Platfield.
Good and Boys Basketball from the Ridge and Valley, Weston will host Wasika Stuban, North
Crawford at Ticapoo, and Seneca is at Ithaca.
The big bracket reveal for Boys Basketball is coming up on Sunday.
I asked Ithaca Coach Mike Benson if he has an inkling where the Bulldogs will be playing
in the tournaments.
I have no clue because our C to 16 is so stacked, it's hard to tell where we're going to
be.
We should have at least the first game should be a home after that, it just depends
where we see it if we're out of the second game at home, but we can be anywhere from a
four to seven seed with four or five losses.
In our 16 seeds, there's at least been six or seven of the teams ranked in the top ten
in the state at some point in the year.
So our section of the regional is just packed and loaded.
Every game is going to be a tough game.
Seneca at Ithaca tonight can be heard on fm 100.9 and wrco.com, the Bulldogs also have
a game tomorrow with LaFarge.
Also speaking of tomorrow, it'll be sectional wrestling Saturday across the state as the
trail to the cold center in Madison continues for individuals.
Sectional wrestling tournaments will be held all over the Badger State at Wisconsin
Dells, the area division two, wrestling sectional will be held, while smaller schools
will converge upon mineral point for the division three sectional as the mineral
point high school field house will be filled for the third Saturday in a row.
The top three finishers in each weight class will qualify for the state individual tournament
next weekend at the cold center in Madison.
Also the girls wrestlers will begin their tournament trail state girls wrestling is just
one week away and the sectionals will be Saturday.
Anderson centers coach Silas Coleman is preparing his boys team.
Being a champion at regional, does that help your seed a little bit or how do you look
at it?
Yeah, it doesn't, it puts you up against, you know, someone who finish lower and other
regionals.
So it's always a benefit to come out as a regional champion, then potentially wouldn't
me to put another regional champion until the semi finals, so it kind of helps you out
a little bit there.
How many girl wrestlers will represent Richelm Center this weekend?
Right now we're hoping to have three of them wrestling and representing as well there and
so we're spending a little while against Dave Russell, but we're excited to have him
back on the mat.
And their format is similar to last year and how, how do the numbers look, have you seen
anything for the girls matchups yet?
I haven't seen anything yet, I think Saturday morning, they're just going to kind of have
their own seeding meeting then and just kind of get everything set up then, but it's
so far I have not seen any numbers.
What are some things that you work on this time of year, this late in the season and
practice?
Again, it's just continuing to find those small things that we're still trying to fine tune
and just keep working on those small things, so if we need to make any adjustments that's
where it's going to be and then just continue to stay up on top of our conditioning, making
sure that we're staying in the bus shape that we can be going into these tournaments and
staying healthy.
Richland Center, head wrestling coach, Silas Coleman, whose wrestlers will be at Wisconsin
Dells tomorrow.
And at Middle Point, the Riverdale Chief Timns, they're coached by Jeff Campbell.
We know our way around there pretty good.
Our junior high was actually there the Friday night before the conference tournament too,
so we've had fans there quite a few weekends in a row.
We made a lot of trips down there to Middle Point, but yeah, we know the routine.
We know how they run things.
They run things really well there at Middle Point, and the guys kind of have their routines
where they pack their stuff at, where they're going to hang out at, and it's just a routine
that they've got down pretty good and point all these to the great job running the tournaments,
so I'm very satisfied.
There's never enough seating no matter the location that you pick, but it should be a great
day of wrestling.
You'd like to take them all to state Jeff, but usually that's not reality, but they're
going to have for us a well this weekend, aren't they?
Yeah, they sure are.
And you understand it's a reality to get all eight guys to state.
I mean, that would be a tremendous accomplishment, but you understand that just making to the
sectional is a tremendous accomplishment too.
So we're going to have to wrestle well.
We know the level that we have to wrestle at, and we've got to sneak peek at that this
past weekend, and really the weekend before that conference tournament really prepares
you for the intensity and the high stakes that you're going to have in the matches.
I feel like our guys are battle tested with our schedule, and we feel comfortable going
into a tournament like this.
There's always nerves, but it's not like you haven't been through it already.
And a lot of, we've got some great senior leadership and some great leadership from
our younger guys, too, that have been there and accomplished a lot.
So the stage won't be too big for them, they'll go out, they'll compete, and at the end
of the day, you hope you can punch a few tickets to the state tournament and then extend
your season one more week.
