W-I-A super regionals will be held across the state of Wisconsin coming up on Saturday.
Riverdale will be a part of a mineral point regional coach Jeff Campbell is preparing
the team and they're getting closer to full strength.
You know, Napa would here we got a couple more practices to get through but we should
be, should be healthy and ready to go.
We had two seniors, Kaden Ranish and Riley Waneku were out last week that just for some
precautionary things and they're, you know, they've had a great week of practice so
far and look solid and ready to go and have had a nice January for us.
So we're looking to get those two back in the lineup and have that full, full steam of,
you know, guys that we haven't really had through the month of January and that kind
of usually happens.
You kind of mix and match and some stuff so it'll be fun to get that lineup all back together
that we had earlier in the year and see what we can do on Saturday.
And ask Jeff about the clash and how Riverdale wrestled?
We did well.
I thought we were a little short-handed with a couple guys out but overall, I thought
that guys performed well.
We'll send JV and the varsity side of things and it's a tough tournament and we had two
finalists in there and Graham Matthews and Brody Nice who lost to number one and number
two ranked kids, you know, in their weight classes.
So it's, you knew once you got to that final match it was giving you to be a little bit
tougher than the semis and both boys performed well, you know, as sophomores against solid
seniors.
Somebody was showing me the stats on how many ranked wrestlers there were there.
It seemed like there were like 30 wrestlers.
That's just unheard of, isn't it?
Yeah, it really is.
I think coaching staff were kind of talking, you got to the semifinals in each weight
class and you're like, you know, it's top five and who's who right now in the rankings
for high school wrestling and that's in each weight class and it's just a barn burner
from there, you know, and it's a good, it's a good step up for the kids to just realize
what the intensity level will be like because it'll be raised up even a little bit more
just coming weekend.
WRC Osports will have coverage of the Super Regional Admittable Point and the division two
event going on at Richland Center High School are coverage begins Saturday morning at 10.
Tonight on the basketball schedule, girls basketball, basketball at Darlington, Royal
at New Lisbon, Bangor at Nassita, Hillsborough visits Brookwood.
21st Center at Cashton, Barrow at Sock Prairie and Readsburg at Portage in boys basketball.
Phenomore is at Riverdale, Darlington and Iowa Grant, Cuba City Admittable Point,
basketball at Southwestern.
The Weston boys are at LaFarge, North Crawford at Seneca, Kikapu, it was Zika Stuban.

Southwest Conference has Prairie Dushine playing at Plattville, Dodgeville at Lancaster
and Richland Center at River Valley.
Hornet boys are coming off a win at WRC Osstuban on Tuesday night.

I was happy obviously with the outcome.
Anytime you have a young team like we do, getting a win is just so important for our development,
for our mental state.
So that was great, as far as some of the aspects in the game, I thought we started a little
sluggish and then we did pick up the effort level.
We got the ball inside, we took advantage of our size advantage and it was one of those
games that we just had to patiently, methodically take advantage of that and we slowly built
that lead.
We went on a nice little run in the second half, got a couple of chances in transition
and Jay and Shep made a couple of big threes.
So a lot of good contributions, Garrison Weiss had a nice game finishing around the
rim.
So just a nice step forward and on a night when Wes Bosworth, our leading score, was in
some foul trouble and couldn't produce like he normally does so it was good to see those
other guys step up.
Also good to get a win in your last non-conference games because it's conference from here on out,
isn't it?
Conference from here on out, yeah, and we've been talking, the schedule being so front-loaded
with no, no makeups, we've got these three games here in these last couple of weeks.
So a lot of time to be in the gym and prepare for these conference opponents.

Doug McDaniel scored 16 points and made free throws in the final 19 seconds to El Michigan
hold out for a 72-68 win over Number 11, Wisconsin, the Wolverines had lost five straight
and 10 of their last 11 games.
The Badgers have lost a season high three consecutive games and struggled to make three
pointers for the second game in a row.
They were five of 19 from beyond the arc, a game after going three for 19 on three pointers
in a loss to number two Purdue.
AJ Store scored 20 points to lead the Badgers.

The Mucks report three time NBA All-Star Chris Middleton did not suffer a fractured ankle
Thursday night, but there is currently no timetable for his return.
He was heard in the first quarter of the 114-106 loss at Phoenix, managed to shoot the free
throws, then missed the rest of the game.
Middleton suffered the sprain when he landed on the foot of Sunsford, Kevin Durant.
Milwaukee was already playing without guard, Damien Lillard, who also has an ankle injury.

The Brewers will be reporting to camp in less than a week.
A lot of Brewer news this week right handed Jacob Junis and the Brewers finalized a one-year
contract that includes a mutual option for 2025.
Junis who is 31 went 4-3 with a career best 387 ERA in four starts and 36 relief appearances
for San Francisco last season.
He is 38 and 45 with a 464 ERA in 110 starts and 57 relief appearances over seven seasons
with Kansas City and the Giants.
Junis is another option for the defending national essential champion Brewers as they
retool their rotation after trading 21 psi and award winner Corbin Burns to Baltimore
and allowing two time all star Brandon Woodruff to become a free agent elsewhere.
Yesterday they assigned some power to the roster of the 2024 Brewers have another signal
caller in camp, Gary Sanchez, the one year agreement is worth $7 million and it includes
an option.
The 30 year old Sanchez pounded 19 home runs in just 72 games with the Padres last season.
He hit to 18 but the power pushed his OPS plus to 116 although he came up with the Yankees
as a hit first prospect Sanchez has developed his receiving skills to the point he is considered
and above average defender.
The Wisconsin men's hockey team wraps up the current four game home stand with a weekend
series against Notre Dame games at the Cole Center will be played Friday and Saturday.
The Padres swept the first series against the fighting Irish in early January Notre Dame
comes in at 1412 and two including eight eight and two in the big 10.
The team just split a home series against Michigan State last weekend.
