We're just gonna go into Hancock happenings and fall is in the air, right?
It's feeling a little bit more cool up there We still have less than a week to go less than a week.
It's almost a complete week though guys.
We just did a quick Google on the first day of fall equinox and It is at 840 p.m
On Tuesday.
Oh, yeah, so yeah, it's gonna be we're that late.
Yeah that late But hey a happy pre-fall to everybody.
I think we talked about this too.
We're in the meteorological fall.
That's right September 1st, but I never understand why we have to have two falls
So anyway
It's
still summer.
It is still summer.
I feel like it is.
But we're still in summer, but we are getting into the beginning of fall.
And it's going to happen with the all-new Hancock Thursday Farmers Market.
And that is every Thursday where we have over 30 rotating vendors that make the Hancock Thursday Market your choice for high-quality baked goods with some gluten-free options as well.
Fresh, not free.
Fresh.
produce, it couldn't be more fresh.
Just picked that day.
You get bagels, other, like I said, other baked goods, clothing, mending, quail eggs and more.
So you can get your family's groceries every Thursday on Quincy Green, and that's from two until 6 p.m.
But guess what?
We only have three more weeks left.
That is going to be it.
So October 1st is the final market day on Quincy Green.
So you want to start getting up and stocking up on those items.
that you want to preserve for fall and winter.
So what a great opportunity.
You have three weeks left to get all that great fresh picked produce.
grown right here locally and if you believe in keeping our money local this is really one of the ways you can do that because our local farmers and our local cottage industry folks those are local businesses so we want to support them and then we understand that there's other markets in other towns we want you to support those markets as well because we believe also that farmers markets in your town make your town
even more healthy.
So let's support our all new Hancock Thursday Farmers Market.
That is this Thursday and that is tomorrow.
So that is three more like three more that concludes tomorrow then next week and the following week and that is going to be it.
So let's stock up and it's harvest time and you're going to find all those awesome veggies and fruits out there.
Also it's game night on Thursdays here in Hancock.
So it is the place
to be, and where you want to go to KC Bonkers, and that's at 119 Quincy Street, and that's every Thursday for game night, and they're open until 8 p.m.
So they have a really awesome array of different board games, and what a great way to start preparing for the weekend.
Take your family out, your friends, coworkers, what a great way to just get together, play games, and they have drink specials there as well.
And New Teenies Supper Club at 321 Quincy Street hosts
Trivia night every night or every Thursday night.
Sorry about that.
Every Thursday night is Trivia night and that's at 8 30 p.m.
So you can take a hop skip and a jump right from Casey Bonkers to New Teenies grab a bite to eat and get your brainwaves all ready to go to play trivia.
And like I said, that's every Thursday night at 8 30 at New Teenies Supper Club right here in downtown Hancock.
So we've got some September Arts in Hancock, which is a new
Um...
exhibition at the Copper Country Community Arts Center is Up Close and Personal, which is freeform stitching by Peg McNinche.
And it'll be at the Cynthia Cote Gallery.
And that show will be through September 30th.
So you have a little bit of time to get on over and check out this show.
But it is really a wonderful show.
As well as the Finlandia Art Gallery's Salmi exhibition, which is through September 23rd.
which this exhibition consists of two exhibits on loan from the Sami Circle.
Circle North America, which is Erica Larson's Walking with Reindeer and Sami Herders in Alaska, as well as artifacts from the Sami Circle North American Archive.
So this is going to be a really interesting show to check out.
If you haven't seen it yet, I highly suggest getting over there.
That is at the Finlandi Art Gallery, and that's at the Finnish American Heritage Center.
We're also doing our first ever bright spot, Hancock, and we're calling artists
for this fall, winter art installation, where we're gonna be painting, our artists will be painting discs that are about 18 to 24 inches in diameter, and they will be pre-treated, ready to paint, and we're gonna have some painting parties at ILO Creative and Lynn Masalini's Art Studio and Gallery, and the Copper Country Community Art Center.
Those are the three locations that we're gonna have in October for the painting parties, so you will paint
inspirational phrases.
There will be about three to five words and you get to choose your phrase that you would like, but they will be selected by the city of Hancock.
And then you will paint those inspirational words in the way that you see those words in your artwork.
and those discs will then be installed on light poles throughout the city of Hancock.
So you can go in fall and winter to go and get your, to find your bright spot during those kind of dark gloomy days that are coming up in fall and winter.

Fall in the air that we were talking about.
So it was a great time to get those fall art classes.
And you may do that at the Copper Country Community Art Center.
ILO Creative has great classes.
Also Magic Kiln Studio.
They've got their Sunday Fun Day art projects that they do every month.
And then the Finnish American Folk School, they have a whole list of great classes to sign up for.
So you can go onto their websites and get something fun going.
for fall this year.
We've got the Hancock Rotary World of Wine Tasting and Silent Auction.
It's in just two days.
So that's this Friday, September 18th at 7 p.m.
with doors opening at 6.30 p.m.
There will be special selections of wines from Rotagio Imports.
They're out of Iron River and they're introducing wines to Michigan through the UP for the first time.
So they have a total of five wines that will be served with small plate
offerings that will be done by Geno's Restaurant here in Hancock.
And they've got a very special dessert wine that has just been added and we're super excited to share it with you.
So we have a fully, also a fully stocked wine cooler that will be raffled off during this event.
So eat every ticket for a single ticket is $75.
And if you'd like to get a table of eight, that is $525.
This is the Hancock Rotary's biggest fundraiser of the year.
So we're really
asking for support from the community.

Like I said, there's wines here that have not.
yet been tasted by folks in the state before.
So very exciting, excited to have this.
We've got the pancake breakfast for the Hancock City Fire Department.
This is their annual fundraising event on October 3rd, and that'll be from 7am to noon at the Fire Hall on Ethel Avenue.
It's $10 for adults and kids under 6
are free, um, or they eat free.
You're not going to get them for free.
Uh, so we're also, uh, doing the Hancock Historic Committee presenting Bobs and Audis, bring the story of your ancestors life.
And he's the off author of his new book, uh, Beyond the Copper Horizon, which is a novel, uh, set here in the UP.
Uh, so that's on Tuesday, October 6th at 6 30 PM at 3 99 Quincy Street.
That is Hancock City Hall and also the Hancock history.
Hall.
And so that is on Tuesday, October 6th.
And we can't not wait to have that discussion.
It's going to be a lot of fun.
We also want to remind everybody that the closing for our summer season, we've been talking about fall.
And so that means Hancock Beach, the Hancock Campground and Lakeside Cemetery are all closing on October 15th.
But before that, we want to let people know and remind folks that Lakeside Cemetery Gravesites must have all decorations removed.
by October 1st.
