And of course, as usual, we got Todd Gast in the studios with us.
Another not smoky day here in the Upper Peninsula.
How are you doing?
It is way better without the smoke.
I think I was coughing up along the last time I was here.
So, you know, it's much, much better.
It's so great to breathe that fresh Copper Country air again.
So it's a little cool this morning, but I guess, you know, a little bit of a break from the heat is OK.
That
is okay.
I mean it was sad to see the canal run.
Yeah, we were
very very sad about like and key ingredients We had to cancel key ingredients as
well and
and want to thank you for like helping us I'll get the message out to everybody about that But you know what when we look at our mission statement and we say we say we're going to have fun and safe Events for our community one of those things can't happen.
We cannot have the event so we couldn't have this safely with and we could not at all
all bring people out to breathe that air.
So we had to do what we had to do.
Didn't make us happy.
It was a difficult decision, but all in all, we made the right decision.
So thank you for everybody that was part of the planning of all of these events that we had to cancel.
All those that wanted to participate and the volunteers, our department of public works, our police department, all of the people that were working so hard to make these events
happen.
We want to thank you.
We're going to come back next year, bigger and better.
So thank you for your cooperation and your patience and understanding.
So, but yeah, we will be back and summer is not over.
So we got a lot to, we still have a lot happening here in Hancock.

These sessions are designed to help you improve your stability, reduce your risk of falling because what's the worst thing you can do is fall.
We don't want to be falling and enrich your everyday life.
These classes are open to all fitness levels and they are Thursday.
So that is tomorrow 10 a.m.
To 1045 a.m.

So thank you to the UP Health System Portage for hosting these weekly classes and it's only $5.
So can't hardly buy anything $5 these days, right?
So good investment in your health is what I like to call that.
And we also have game night here every Thursday.
And that is at Casey Bonkers 119 Quincy Street where every Thursday
is game night until 8 p.m.
and New Teenies Supper Club at 321 Quincy Street and they host trivia night every Thursday.
So that's at 8.30 p.m.
So you have a little time in between the two game nights.
You get yourself a bite to eat and a beverage and you can be on to your next gaming night over at New Teenies.
So wonderful game night here in Hancock every Thursday.
Every Thursday afternoon, we've got the all new Hancock
Hancock Thursday Farmers Market, which has over 30 rotating vendors this year.
And they make the Hancock Thursday Market your choice for sourdough products, high-quality bakery, gluten-free goods, groceries for your family, and clothing mending, bagels, quail eggs, and more.
So that is every Thursday from 2 until 6 p.m.
on Quincy Green.
And that's through October.
We also have our second Farmers Market on Saturday.
Saturdays from 10 a.m.
until noon.
So you have two choices to be able to get your fresh produce right here in downtown Hancock.
And there's no better way to keep our dollars locally than to support our local farmers and our local cottage industries.
So that is every Thursday, 2 to 6 p.m.

And we've got every Saturday from 10 a.m.
until noon on Quincy Green in downtown Hancock.
We like to talk about the arts as well in Hancock.
We've got the art exhibit at the
Copper Country Community Art Center, their newest exhibit is called Copper and Gold in Silver.
It's a photography exhibit by Dan Beers and Tim Rankin, and this will be on display at the Carriage Gallery through July 31st.
The gallery hours at the Copper Country Community Art Center are Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m.
to 6 p.m.
and Saturday, 10 a.m.
till 2 p.m.
And we also have the Finlandia Art Gallery, and they are hosting their fourth annual Folk School at Midsummer.
exhibition.
And that's on display at the Finnish American Heritage Center through August 19th.
So these dates are getting shorter and shorter.
You want to get over there.
If you want to see these great exhibits, check them out.
They're actually really wonderful.
And we love having these galleries here in downtown Hancock.
And we also have movies on the green this Thursday night.
This is we've got our full season of awesome movies.
And this is our first one for the season.
And we're going to be playing
miracle, which kicks off our free movie season with Sports Night at sunset.
And that's at approximately 9 38 p.m.
So we're going to try to see what the sun is going to be like, because if it's a really clear, sunny evening, then the sun really is, you know, the hardest thing about showing a movie, it's supposed to be dark.
So we're going to really try to make sure that you get to see the entire film.
And this film is about the national US national hockey team, who's victory in the 1980s.
Winter Olympics, over the heavily favored Soviet Union team was dubbed the Miracle on Ice.
So check that out.
That is Thursday, tomorrow evening with the movie Miracle.
We've got Friday night, the Canal Rock Summer Music Concert Series comes back to Porvo Park.
And that's this Friday, July 24th with Uncle Pete's Red Hot Review from 6 until 9 p.m.
So you can kick back and relax or kick off your shoes and dance the night away with this must attend annual celebration.

Bring your own coolers, blankets, umbrellas, chairs.
And those umbrellas are not for rain, that is for sun.
So if you are feeling you don't want to be out there in the sun, then get your umbrella out and so you can make your own shade.
So that is this Friday, right on Portage Canal at Porvoo Park with Uncle Pete's Red Hot Review.
And they're going to rock the canal this Friday evening.
We're going to get into August here a little bit so you can plan your calendar.
and save the date for Hancock Prop and Swap.
And that's on Sunday, August 2nd from 12.30 to 2.30 p.m.
at the Hancock Community Hub in room 402.
And this is a free event that features a variety of plants, plant books, magazines, pots, and more.
And if you don't have a plant that you can exchange, you may still participate by purchasing and donating to the host.
So this is a really great event for those who are green thumbs out there that may have too much of something in their yard.
and they like to get something else.
This is a great way to do that.
So that is Hancock Prop and Swap on Sunday, August 2nd, from 12.30 to 2.30 p.m.
We've got Roll with Kiwanaw Roller Durby at the Lauren Grove Park on Monday, August 3rd, from 7.30 to 9.30 p.m.
So you can dust off those old roller skates, get your blades polished up for this casual social immunity skate.

Also, the Hancock City Council is now accepting petitions for four at-large vacancies for four-year terms.
They are due at Hancock City Hall on August 4th at 4 p.m.
That's a lot of fours that I just got off there.
So we've got four at-large vacancies for four-year terms and they are due at City Hall on August 4th at 4 p.m.
And if you can make that happen, then you will be on the November ballot.
We also have our Hancock Lights the night.
We have been meeting with the planning committee for the last couple of months, but we really need you to be a part of this.
So, if you loved the Hancock Lights of the Night that we had at Hancock Campground during the holiday season last year, we need you to be a part of this.
If you loved it, you would want to see it come back for 2026, then we need you.
I know there's a lot of talented people out there that love Christmas.
We want to have your ideas.
We want to have your energy, and we really want to have a wonderful
play for 2026.
So we are doing a fundraiser drive to raise $13,000 by mid August.
So we really need to have your sponsorship, your donations, your participation before August 15.

It was just such a great event for our community.
Last year was a really, really a new
awesome space of joy.
And a lot of people, that was their Christmas.
