Game two, Grand Valley State 59, Ashland 45.

Game three, Walsh the host, 77, William Jewel 70.

And in quite the finish to both the game and the day, Northern Michigan 86, Rockhurst 85.

Let's go through those results from yesterday and of course we'll start with the Michigan Tech Huskies.

It was quite the first half of offense for both teams as they both scored in the 40s through one half of play.

Hotshooting 8 of 15 from three point range for Lake Erie along with 11 steals forcing 12 Michigan Tech turnovers as a whole.

Had the storm one point behind Michigan Tech.

Husky shot well though in the first half, 15 of 25 overall, 6 of 12 from deep.

and 10 of 13 from the free throw line, but it was the second half that propelled Michigan Tech as the shooting percentages for the storm went down just eight of 16 from three point range in the second half.

Huskies didn't make a single three in the second half themselves, but we're still effective from the rest of the field and Jesse Nepgezik doing a good job for the Huskies getting to the free throw line for the day as a whole.

Now, Gezek, 14 of 18 from the free throw line and a new career high of 20 points in 26 minutes off the bench.

Huskies were led though by the senior, Marcus Tamashek, with 34 points, 11 of 18 shooting, five of the Huskies, six threes were made by Marcus in a perfect seven of seven to go along with three rebounds and an assist on the day.

Also, 26 minutes for Marcus.

who end up with four fouls, so swapping in and out a little bit there towards the later stages of the game offense defense, but certainly Tomaszek doing what he does for this team closing in on 2,400 career points and yesterday officially moving in to second place in the all-time scoring ranks at Michigan Tech.

For the Lake Erie Storm, their leading scorer was Kai Bloom.

21 on the day 8 of 12 shooting Alanis Castillo with three three pointers and 15 off the bench Those are the only two players in double figures But all but two who got into the game and I believe there was 12 or 13 who got into the game For the storm ended up scoring so they used their bench liberally balloon played 30 minutes Amari Williams 26

Leibacher off the bench playing 24, but other guys just pretty significant drop-off in minutes, but they did play a lot of different players in their contest yesterday.

Huskies had to battle with that full-court pressure defense.

They were able to overcome in the second half and move their way into the semifinals.

Meanwhile, Grand Valley State frustrated the Ashland offense all game long, particularly in the first half where the Eagles scored just 13 points.

It was still low scoring in general, 29 to 13, and Ashlyn did end up outscoring Grand Valley in the second 32 to 30, but clearly not enough.

It was a balanced scoring effort for Grand Valley State Jail and Charity leading with 11 points.

Mason Docks and Chalmers Thompson each with 10, Ethan Alderink with 9, Anton Allen with 7, Trevor Smith Jr.

with 6.

David Wilkerson, who's been a thorn in the Huskies side this season, contributing three points off the bench.

For the Ashland Eagles, their main player was Maseo Williams.

He scored 16 points, but didn't really have a lot of great opportunities.

Five of 10 from the floor, six of nine from the free throw line, and really limited.

He was the only player in double figures and by a pretty wide margin for Ashland who shot two of 23 from outside on the day.

In the other...

quarter-finals.

Again, Walsh winning by a score of 77 to 70.

They actually trailed that halftime 40 to 36 before coming back and sealing the 77 to 70 victory.

And then Northern Michigan trailed at the half.

38-31 were down by as many as 12 in the second half.

Using the fouling technique there at the end hitting a couple of threes with Cal Klesman and an end one late Dylan Keele finishing with 31 points Rockers key score Drennan Dinkins who's a 90% free throw shooter Missed two free throws in his last couple trips.

He finished with 35 points But those two misses were huge for Dinkins as the Wildcats were able to get threes the other way or the end one three the other way that led to them

getting ahead and ultimately getting the victory 86-85.

quite thrilled with the finish it was it was an exciting game to watch available for free on ncaa.com as today's game and all of the Division 2 tournament games are as well so that is where we stand here so the semi-finals today Huskies and Lakers Walsh will take on Northern Michigan at 730 some of the other upsets that occurred yesterday in the

Bracket Blackhill State knocking off number three Lubbock Christian in the Let's see which bracket side was that I can't even tell which bracket side that is DB you also getting a win in that one But number two no Eastern New Mexico fell so it is one five six and seven In that side of the bracket DB you of course a team the Huskies faced earlier this year.

That's the south central bracket

One of the more highly contested games occurred all the way on the other side.

It was in the central bracket and Minnesota Duluth who made it by qualifying automatically winning the NSIC tournament.

They go into Washburn and they upset the Ichabod's 64 to 62.

They'll take on fellow NSIC member St.

Cloud State, Oklahoma Baptist and Central Missouri advanced in their games folding serve.

And that was the only number one seed to drop the other number two seed the seeds to fall West Liberty losing to Virginia Union and Palm Beach Atlantic losing to Alabama Huntsville so lots of Interesting things happening across the bracket and the Huskies and basketball fans alike have been watching to get an eye on what may be ahead for some of these teams

The regional championship game will be held on Tuesday night here at Walsh, seven o'clock.

Of course, the Huskies are in it.

We'll be here with you.

Huskies have not beaten the Lakers this year.

And before we look ahead to today, four games were played here yesterday.

What did you see out there from all four different games?

How they are officiated?

What kind of things you can determine from all of those games moving into today?

On the simplest form it shows.

Honestly, the Glee Act is really good.

Playing in the Glee Act, you're not going to get more physical.

better basketball I mean you go through our schedule you're gonna be prepared for anything I guess to be the simplest way of saying it so and we're gonna get tested where they get today.

Well obviously Lake Erie and that first half really disrupted Michigan Tech's ability to get the ball in.

I know Grand Valley's defense operates a little bit differently but clearly they've posed their own threats defensively.

No, Grand Valley's...

They pick up full court, but there's his more straight ball pressure, less trying to create chaos.

I mean, Lakeria's trying to create chaos.

Grand Valley's just going to get after you.

Grand Valley's, if you handle the initial...

pressure and trapping of Lake Erie.

You were going to get what you wanted in the half, but we got it inside.

We got great shots.

Whenever we didn't turn it over, we got a great look.

Grand Valley is not going to get that up in the half.

You're going to have to execute.

You're going to have to make tough shots.

They're a much, much better half force defensive team and have much more length in athleticism.

What did you see them do yesterday at Frustrated Ashland for so long, especially in the first half?

The same stuff they've done to a lot of people.

There's been a lot of games where teams have done that.

Ashton has a good big guy.

Ashton does not have a lot of 3-point shooting.

I do know that you probably need some 3-point shooting if you're going to beat Strumvallies.

They have too much length and a lot of system at the rim.

to probably beat him there.

You have to work to go inside, but you're going to get open threes if you're starting with a ball and you've got to

make a couple.

So is today a game where maybe Jesse's skill set isn't as useful compared to maybe what a guy like Ty Fernholz can do or even match Find Off a bench?

I mean, it's a combination of both.

Jesse's got to be the guy because of the hard ball pressure.

We need guys that can get through that ball pressure and get two feet in the paint.

I don't know that Jesse's going to go get 20, but Jesse needs to be a guy that can get in there, draw the team, because Grand Valley is going to bring help.

And if he can get in there and make good decisions and find shooters like Ty out on the perimeter, if we don't create that initial advantage and get that initial paint touch, it's hard to get a guy like Ty looks.

We're going to try to play fast.

We're going to try to get some second chance to help get us three point looks.

But no, we need to get it inside to dodge.

And we need guys to be able to handle the ball pressure and get to the paint and create inside out threes.

When you talked about the last game against Grand Valley, where you got a lot of the things that you liked, you just didn't finish, is there anything differently that you would do from what happened last Saturday to take into today's game?

Honestly I mean most of our we do a how to score session in film and most of them were showing clips where oh we did this we got this this is what's going to be your options and here's a pretty good look and it was just a lot of missed shots I mean if we

If we get the same shots we got last Saturday, I feel pretty good that we're going to have a chance.

We're going to make more of them than we did then.

We had a bad shooting there.

The bigger thing is if shots aren't falling, we can still win the game.

You just can't get frustrated.

I think last Saturday we showed some frustration and missing shots affected our defense.

Grand Valley defeated the Huskies in the GLIAC tournament semifinals, 82-70.

And of course twice in the regular season.

at Michigan Tech 79-75 and at Grand Valley 55-46.
