Football: Hurley vs. Tri-County

Ironwood News · Thu Aug 20, 2026

The following is a special sports presentation on WJMS.

Espirus Ironwood Hospital in Ironwood, Iron County Community Credit Union of Hurley, Hits Fine Furniture of Ironwood and Ashland, Lakeview Dental Agency of Ashland, Northwood Technical College, Bringing You the Smart Choice of the Game, Mark Fowler, Honda Toyota in Ashland, and by Wood Tech Builders in Ironwood.

And now let's go out for all the exciting action of high school sports.

Good afternoon football fans.

It's high school football time again as Wisconsin kicks off the 26th football season.

I'm Rod Helversen and joining me this afternoon from Hurley, Joe

Rimkes.

Well, good afternoon.

How you doing today, Rod?

doing good, doing good.

It came on quick, didn't

it?

Boy, it sure did.

You know, we did the border bash in early June and we thought we had a whole long time before football started and boy, here we are at Adams Memorial Field already.

But like I said, I'd rather do a game on a warm August afternoon than a chilly November evening.

Yeah, it is a beautiful afternoon.

Got a little bit of rain earlier, not much, but the forecast does call for it later on tonight.

Hopefully we get through this game without any and

We'll see what happens.

Yeah, Crow is still filing in.

We got about 15 minutes for a kickoff.

Few fans made their way up from Plainfield, Wisconsin, which is about half hour south of Stevens Point, hour north of Madison.

So it is a long ride.

There's a few fans there and there's still time to go before we kick off.

Yeah, I'm looking at their bus over there.

That's a luxury bus that they drove up there.

Yeah, they sure come in style, don't

they?

They

do.

They look like it's eight man football and I'm just trying to count the players they have over there.

It looks like they have about 20 players.

Looks like it.

Yeah, we

should mention who's here by the way.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Early taken on Tri Coney on the Plainfield, Wisconsin.

This is the team that beat last year and we're on one of the playoffs.

And if I remember correctly, the comma, even though it's last year, you still talk about they were the only road team to win in the eight man tournament.

that week, and I think they were the only team to have a shutout in eight-man.

So I'm sure Tri-County remembers that.

They graduated their top two players, as Hurley also had some graduation losses.

So I'm sort of Tri-County, probably circled this one on the schedule right away, and said, we're going to look for revenge up there in Hurley.

Hopefully they don't get it.

Right.

And it's, like I said, it is a beautiful night for football.

Hurley's got a good group of kids.

I mean, it looks like at least 30 of them out there.

And it's going to be an interesting football game, Rod.

I think today's going to be a little bit of the jitters getting out of them first, because they start off, you know, usually get out there and have a little jitters.

But once they settle down, it's going to be a good football game.

Yeah.

And at this point, being the first game of the season, they suited up everybody in the program.

There's a lot of freshman softwares out there.

Whether or not they'll see playing time, we don't know.

Gotcha.

I think that's the same on both sides.

I was talking to the coach.

from Tri-County earlier as he came on to the field and I remember last year's game their backup quarterback was I believe his first name was Julian I think it was Julian Vega and I was expecting to see him tonight because he got a little bit of playing time I thought last year but he moved away okay transferred to Berlin high school so coach said yeah they you know it's kind of a big loss for them in the football program but you know this is

That's something you deal with as a coach and right next man up basically

well the coach's name I like his name Dallas Topper

Yes, I like that name.

I even like the kid that's playing quarterback for them Chevy Hulk

Yeah, yeah, they got some real cool names down there.

You know, yes

Yeah, we might struggle with some of these games as we get through there.

Yeah,

we'll touch on them as we go through it So they're gonna have gamey and free ball at quarterback.

He is a

Junior, and we don't have any heights or weights.

I did manage to grab two heights and weights off of Max Prep.

So I have three guys that I know how big they are.

And those are probably the guys that you'll hear more of tonight as the game goes on.

Exciting.

Well, it is.

Football is always exciting.

This time of year, everybody loves football.

College is going to start pretty soon.

Pearls are starting.

And high school is also starting.

You know, you wait and wait until this time of year and everybody's excited about it.

But then, then you think about what's coming later on, you know, and we would get halfway through the season and we get those little snowflakes coming through.

But that's all right.

We bear with it up here in the North, right?

Right.

These first games are interesting because these kids have been, well, they had scrimmage last Friday.

They don't even watch the Newman.

But scrimmage is just the, it's no more than a glorious practice in a way.

There's some hitting, but you're playing against different

different faces for a while but for the last two and a half weeks basically they've been going at it with each other and I'm sure they're excited now to go up against opponents from a different school.

Yeah definitely and like you said some of the some of the teams don't even have enough like they have 12 players and we were talking about that this morning a little bit on the sports show and that's got to be hard to practice when you only have

12 guys, you got 8 against 4.

What do you do?

You know, how do you get the practice in?

And then you also talked a little bit about some of the schools that possibly dropped out or did drop out.

Gillett dropped to a JV program.

Gillett is down close.

If you don't know where it is, it's down near Sean.

A little bit north of Seanal.

In between Seanal and Pulaski, they dropped, which helped Ironwood because Ironwood was then, they picked up Florence.

Because Florence had an opening already.

They were supposed to play Gila, I guess, next week, so now they will play Ironwood.

And then I found out last night that Elko White Lake, who's in this conference, is also going to a JV program.

So that's going to throw this whole schedule into a tizzy here.

These athletic directors now have to scramble, because since it's a conference

team, it's going to affect everybody.

Right, right.

conference games mean the most of course you know and they're not going to have the Hurley Ironwood game this year you were talking about you said that one will not be played it's uh yeah that's

well you know here's here's a scenario you know if so Hurley Hurley was supposed to play Elko on the 18th of September that's the same night that ironwood is playing on to noggin if Hurley can finagle

No, I would know how they do that early.

I was already committed to on to noggin No, um, no, I guess Well, I was thinking if ironwood could scramble their Schedule, but they can't after yeah after the first week because that would be their their non-conference game So Hurley's gonna be looking for someone to play and it's gonna be bad if they don't find anybody because they have an eight game schedule as it is

If they don't find an opponent for that September 18th, that gives them seven games only.

Yeah, and doesn't it take six to get you into the playoffs?

Six

wins?

Yes.

So six wins to get into the playoffs, so you pretty much got to play air-free ball for six games.

And I heard Sol and Springs also went to a GV or they may have dropped football altogether.

So there are some opportunities for Hurley, like look at Sol and schedule and see who they were playing.

on the 18th of September and stuff like that.

So it'll be a jogging act for a for a really administration to try to find a spot.

It's going to be hard.

I guess because that's in week four.

Oh, right.

Yeah.

It's coming up quick, but we'll see why the sun is out.

It's nice because it was coming.

It wasn't pouring investment, but it was a steady rain.

Yeah.

I saw when I was looking outside, it was raining a little bit, but right now, perfect football weather tonight, folks.

come on out to Memorial Field and in Hurley and enjoys good football action.

Hurley's opener tonight taken on Tri-County so it should be very exciting Rod.

Yeah Tri-County Penguins coached by Dallas Topper and Hurley coached by Chris Edivine.

Tri-County part of the Central Wisconsin 8th conference.

Hurley is in the Northwood East Conference and I know you're out there asking well who's in that conference.

I will tell you Central Wisconsin 8th.

Almond Bancroft Bowler Gresham Minong Tigerton Manamini Nation Port Edwards Rochalt Tri-County and Wild Rose for the Northwood East at Hurley's Inn They had some teams move around in there and they have Shawamigan Elko White Lake well, they don't have them no more they went to JB as I just said Hurley Phillips Prentice Rib Lake Three Lakes Phelps

and Wabino Leona, or Leona Wabino, whichever you prefer.

That

depends on what town you live in.

You know, Joe, this is one of the best fight songs in America.

It is.

It's a Notre Dame fight song, too.

It happens to be.

Yeah,

I didn't realize that.

Oh, yeah.

I can understand that.

Yeah, it is a good fight song, no.

Hopefully you hear it a lot tonight.

Probably will.

I mean, a lot of points for Hurley.

So they play the fight saw captains are out at midfield.

They're getting ready to talk it to the reps there and getting ready for the coin toss.

All right, let's see who's gonna See what they're gonna call up there.

Looks like they aren't to tell who won the toss.

Well, they're talking to Hurley, aren't

they?

Yeah, they're wondering which way they want to defend.

Maybe I'm not sure.

We'll see who's gonna get the opening kickoff there

in about five minutes.

Still hasn't decided.

We're watching a referee search for a signal.

Maybe it's like that Pittsburgh Steeler game remember.

All right.

Here we go.

Here comes the signal from Early is going to receive.

All

right.

Well there get the ball first at home

I would say then that tri-county probably won the toss and deferred.

Yeah, they could have safe move.

Yeah But yeah early gets the ball first and we're about What is it four minutes away four and a half minutes away?

Did you want to take a quick break?

Yeah, let's do that.

We'll come back in about three minutes and we'll probably have the national anthem about that time and we'll be set for kickoff here from Veterans Memorial Field.

Tri-County Penguin is taking on the Hurley North Stars.

We'll be back in three minutes.

All right, back here at Veterans Memorial Field in Hurley as we are about less than a minute to go here before the opening kickoff to kick out the season.

Other games going on of interest of somewhat local teams.

Shawam again is at Bruce Gilman is at Phillips Cornell is at real Blake and siren is at Washburn 15 other eight-man games going on tonight 16 on Friday and two on Saturday full weekend of football.

That flag is blowing quite What's the word

a lot?

I Think I got I got it gauged at about seven miles an hour.

Yeah

Just enough to make it move.

This would help the passing game going towards the north end zone.

Certainly would help the punning game if they'd kick up in the jet stream.

What a perfect night though.

Nice breeze out there and you have the referees.

Somewhere I wrote them down for you.

Do you

remember where I put them?

Let's see what I got here.

Referees tonight are Mike Schwartz Sr., Paul Cooler, Jerakavich, Jay Budgie, Ayala.

John, Iowa.

Where are your referees?

What did I miss?

Oh, and Mike Schwartz, Jr.

too.

All those quotations.

Oh, I was trying to save my ink.

Oh, I got you.

That's why I got a pencil.

Plus, I make a lot of mistakes.

I'm a new stat sheet.

Joe,

this

is our first football game.

Oh, I know.

I'm excited.

Yes.

All right, good to be here with you.

Number 23 has a teed up.

That is Gage Beggs.

I saw a lot of him last year.

He was the other running back for the Penguin.

Here's the run-up and the kick.

And it's a low line drive.

It's going to be taken by Hayne at about the 15 yard line.

Gets to 30, cuts around looking for the corner.

He's at the 30, 35 and finally run out of bounds at about the 37 yard line.

Nice return by Hayden, came up the Hurley sideline and cut it way over to the Trinconi sideline.

And you can see how quick he is again this year.

Just his speed last year was crazy.

I mean he gets that corner and if they don't have him then he'll turn up that corner and go.

So it's first in 10 North Stars on their own 37 yard line.

Just on your way here, glad you could join us.

And let's see it's gonna be max coddle at quarterback We're number 33, he's gonna go out the shotgun.

I believe that's coddle 33 is it?

Yes, it is He's far positive yard is picked up five yards.

I

believe

So you're down here in the first quarter area first quarter.

Yeah, 33 and five

those

learning how to take stats.

Yeah, we'll be talking a lot

all that big numbers.

Yep.

Nice game on first down

second

and

five Cotto's gonna go to the shot done and let's see.

Well, I could go there.

Oh, yeah, I was just gonna see three was back there.

Bowden Gilberton also back lined up alongside Cotto and he got the direct snap

So Gilbertson gonna pick up about let's see where they're gonna mark it.

I'd say four yards

Number

three he's number three

I'll

get there.

Yep Third and one ball on the Hurley 46 yard line Three guys in the backfield now

This one goes to wrist that was directly to Hainan.

He's got a he's off the races and you'll not catch Charlie and he will take it the distance They had three guys lined up each way staff could have went to either one it went to Hainan.

He pretty much went on touch for a 54 yard touchdown run with 1035 to go in the first quarter Hurley is on the board

Quickly

that's what we were talking about.

Yeah, he gets breaks one line of containment there.

He's usually gone He did that last year so many times we watched him and he would break long runs He is quick.

I

expect

early

to go for two here as they have in the past for many many years Caught a lined up in the shop confirmation Scott Bowden Gilbertson right off his end the ball is gonna go right to Gilbert's and then he looks like he's gonna cross into the

End zone two point conversion.

Good with 1035 to go.

You don't have to worry about that.

1035 to go first quarter.

It's early eight and Tri-County nothing.

We'll be

back in 30 seconds.

Business office at 100 East Aurora.

All

right, back here in Hurley.

Well, nice run by Charlie Heyman.

Third play from Scrimmage, and he rambles 54 yards, and Hurley's on the board with the two-point conversion.

They lead eight to nothing.

Yeah, 63 yards, Rod, and three plays.

Yes, and not a bad offense,

though.

Hurley just in their black uniforms with orange numerals and orange helmets.

Tri-Cone.

Alright, what'd we figure out?

Those cranberry colored pans?

I

think

it is cranberry.

That's what I'd go with.

White jerseys and black numerals.

And number 12 has the wall teed up.

That is weshly shilly.

We don't have sizes on the white Tony guys except for our gauge bags.

Yeah, there's a couple big guys on there, but... Oh, that was a...

Don't see that

happen very often.

They still have to down it.

Yeah.

Oh, they're going to call off.

Okay, what happened was he barely touched the ball.

Did he just miss it?

Is it a penalty?

Is it offside on

Hurley?

He threw a flag, so I think it's a 5-yard penalty and he got a kick over, I think, because he got the tee out there yet.

Did you notice that nobody from Hurley touched that ball?

Right.

Tony could have went and picked that ball up and gone for a touchdown, although there was a penalty called.

What's the penalty though?

Did they call offside?

It had to be.

I think they... So they must have had the option to decline the penalty and get the ball where it was dead.

I haven't seen that ever happen.

I haven't either.

The ball went what?

Not even a yard.

No.

He just whiffed on it.

He looked

like one of my kickoffs.

All right, so try counting in good field position at the Hurley 41 yard line.

Handoff goes to number 67.

He's a good size running back

on

Mondo Garcia.

Beautiful hit by Lutzer though.

Marshall Lutzer made a nice tackle and the rest came, but that was a beautiful tackle.

No game on that, Kerry.

He's up second in 10.

Quarterback is, is it number two?

I was told it was number two.

Yep, Damian.

Hey man free bill Yeah, I think you'll hear a lot of cage begs so you can tell him begs as well.

He's got the Neal colored shoes and he's got the ball now try to turn the corner and we're gonna have a penalty This could be holding on tri-county.

Yeah, he begs You've got that right rod the official already show holding on that end so

Hurley might take the play though and push them back give him make it third in 12

Or make a 3rd and 4th, 2nd and 12th, 3rd and 8th, what are they going to do here?

They're going to back them up, yep, so... Tritone holding penalty,

they'll

cost them 10 yards.

Move the ball back to midfield now, so Tritone is facing a 2nd and 19th, 952 to go here in the first quarter.

Beautiful afternoon.

No one's that son came out again.

Wonderful Rebuilding the shot confirmation long count He was gonna take it himself.

He's got the running backs out there for blocking turns the corner and then knocked out of bounds He got back maybe to the original line of scrimmage

had a good bunch of blockers in front of them

I'm gonna give him 10 yards.

He's back at the original line of scrimmage

So

third

and 10

ball on the Hurley 40 yard line.

Yeah, Charlie Hainan knocked about a bounce, but good game there.

People will line up in the shotgun.

He's got bags off to his left in here is a hand up to bags looking for the corner and he will not even get back to the line of scrimmage getting in there for Hurley.

Tripped he on all right.

Yep

So big loses three Why he shot that gap quick.

He sure did almost like he knew that play was coming

Probably

saw that play last year.

Yeah, I would expect a puntier Fourth and 12 from the early 42 yard line It'd probably be smart

to

put them back a little

bit in the

wind.

Yep They could probably get a decent punt there, but they don't look like they're going to bump formation

No, they're at this point.

Looks like they're gonna go for it

And it's gonna be a funnel and recovered by early On the ball for early there rod is number 12 so

67

No

gain on the carry and he fumble And who did you say

Wesley Schilling got the recovery

What number is he?

Number 12.

Yep.

All right, so Hurley in good field position.

Better start than last week, or last, last week, right?

Last series.

Low, low snap, but Gilberton picked it off the ground and picked up the first eye.

I picked up 10 yards on

that one.

Nice.

Very nice carry that time.

So

then

Mark a first down rushing right here.

Oh, okay Here the wind coming into the press box But we got the windows open because it puts a nice warm breeze first in 10 early on the tri-county 46 yard line And that goes to number five and he almost broke it for our touchdown that was landing press officer Joe on these first couple plays

Hurley has a lot of weapons.

They do.

They have a lot of weapons and the snap is low, but they picked that ball up nice and they're doing a great job of gaining some yardage.

What was that that time?

Seven?

Seven, yes.

Second and second and three.

Rick snapped a hand in and he turns the corner.

Can he break a tackle?

No, but he will get the first down and he is buried under a sea of white.

But another first down for Hanna and let's see from the was a 39 down to the Ten yards he picked up.

Yeah And they'll be a run and there'll be another first down for them.

Okay first in 10 early on the tri-county 30 Now caught a good moves into a tight end position so they're moving the guys all around here

Back snap who's this one going to go to go to Hain and he adds it off to Gilbertson and he'll pick up positive yardage I'd give them three yards on that carry Oh, I can

smell those burgers coming.

Oh, can I yeah?

I thought the wind was blowing that

way.

Yeah, it's blowing very fast.

Yeah, bring it right over here.

Yes.

Well good three yard gain right there

Who's in the backfield now?

Is it Shilin?

Hainan Gilbertson and Shilin, right?

Yeah

And all coddles in the backfield and Schilling moves to tight end.

They're really mixing it up.

And up to Hainan looking for the corner.

And there he is.

I think I saw a flag.

Yes, I did see a flag.

They got a hold on that end.

Yep.

Yep, I think they got a hold on that end.

This could be holding on hurly,

I

think.

Probably a safe call.

A safe prediction, I should say.

I'm

going to say he's going to take this penalty.

I would.

Yeah, no discussion there.

I'm

going to say we'll decline and get the ball back.

Yeah,

yeah.

Beautiful run by Hayden though, but yeah, there was holding on that left side, so brings the ball back.

Ten yard penalty, Rod.

All right.

So it'll be first in 20 now for, well, scoreboard chose first in 19.

Second and nineteen are there.

This is Cottle, back to Pass, he's got a guy out there, overshot Hainan.

Hainan at 5'10, need to be probably around 6'2 to catch that pass.

Then you go pass would be number 33 to 21 and mark into I underneath it.

incomplete

okay so that's how that works okay now I got you now we're ready to rock yep early leading right now eight to nothing you're here in the first quarter

642 to go third down and 19 let's see what the call is here low snap goes to coddle not a guy out there oh

wide open was landing Christopher said I don't know if he would have got the first down but he overshot him you let him a little bit too much

yeah he's he's rolling to a strong side too in the past doesn't look good right now it's very wobbly and like he's a little not setting himself

we're

anxious maybe a little anxious but now a long way to go on fourth down I think they're gonna punt probably I would

well let's see balls on the 39-yard line

They could back them up around the ten yard line.

It looks like they're gonna go for it.

Cottle and Gilbertson I believe in the back field.

Low snap.

Cottle grabs it out the ground and almost intercepted.

Bass was intended for Kristofferson.

Falls incomplete.

Yeah that went incomplete and they'll take over on downs on their own 39 yard line.

I guess he figured broad that Hurley's defense is playing strong, so if they give him to the ball decent field position, they'll hold him.

Yeah, based on that first series.

So Tri-County takes over, ball's on their own 39 yard, then we've got 6-31 to go first quarter, 8-0 and Hurley.

You could join us for first of many high school football games this fall.

We have two next week.

People looking for a rumor on the left side guy guys on the front of on breaks a tackle and carries a couple guys Auto balls.

He picked up nine yards on that Carry that was number two for nine.

Yep Landon Christopherson and Hanan with the tackle but not before he gained nine yards buddy

the number 67 for them Armando Garcia again, we don't have weights on these good size kid he lines up As a wing back on the right side and then he comes across in front of

Freeball and leave the blocking.

Yeah, nice call by a nice setup by Tricone So second and about one maybe two this goes to begs looking for rumor on the left right side He broke a tackle and he will pick up the first down.

Well, it looks like a totally different offense now.

Yeah Well, they they're running outside and they're having that big boy block of the way and that tackle that time by Christopherson, but still

Too many yards gained right

there.

Five.

Five, I'll give him nine yards on that carry.

Picks up a first down, new set of downs for the penguins.

Those teal colored shoes really stand out, don't they?

They do.

First 10-10, Beggs goes in motion.

Pretty well looking for blocking and Hurley had that one read pretty

well.

Couple guys got around their blocks and got back to free.

I think he was dropped for no game

Landon Christopherson and Trent Tian with the tackles there, but did you notice?

Golden Gilbertson kind of gave himself up He blasted through there.

He just dove and took all two block That had to be a tough spot for him two big guys like that coming at you

Checking in at nose guard for Hurley number 85 I'll touch on him after this play

Ron, that's a middle by the big guy, Armando Garcia, and he is close to a first down.

Did he get there?

No, he did not get there.

He's about a yard, two yards short.

I'll give him seven yards.

Noah Alvarez checked in, six, eight, three, 15 nose guards.

Yeah.

Well, Hayden and Christopherson with the tackle, but he gained eight yards, like he said.

And is it third down?

Third and... third and two?

Freeble and off to oh, he's hitting the right now backfield.

That is the big

guy

Garcia.

He blew right through there that time that was That was Owen Neemey blowing through the hole right there And you have to hit him low.

Yeah.

Yep

Checking back in Liam Hall will go back at nose guard and Alvarez will have a seat on the bench

Here is fourth and two, and I don't think he got there.

No.

This is going to be close.

It was a keeper by free ball.

Yep.

Needed to get to both of them.

Just inside the 40 on the early side of the 40, and he did not make it.

No.

Good

defense by the North Stars.

Yeah, Koski did a nice job.

Hainan did a nice job, and he almost broke free a little bit on that second effort, but they held on and pulled him down.

So maybe a yard game there, but short of the first half.

So Hurley takes over.

All right, touchdown Noah Elver is playing football.

This is his 14th day of football.

Yeah.

He's never played football before.

Fairly.

6'8", 3'15".

His little brother is 6'10", 3'80".

His little brother.

There's Kyle on a keeper.

He's going to pick up around 7.

Almost running hard, you know, he's been dealing with leg surgeries and the injuries and good to see him out there.

Very good

senior

Yeah, you gotta gotta be happy for him

Recognize that name from basketball his grandpa was a longtime basketball coach in you and Choke Creek Then go coddle third second and three This is Gilbert's in he's gonna

Yeah, he's gonna be close to the first down.

I don't know if he got it needed three you might have got see where they spot it They're saying a little bit short.

No, they're saying first down.

I'll give them three yards and another first down Joe.

I did and they moved the chains Checking in Liam Hall checking out Bowden or Landon Christopherson

Try to touch on these linemen if we can.

Oh, and Nimi is the center.

Is that 53?

Yes, I think it is 53.

Give them some airtime.

Hainan, we're wrapped up in the backfield, could not turn around the corner or give Damian Fribol the Tricone quarterback credit for busting two of them, breaking that up.

Yeah, no gain that time.

You know, one thing I've noticed Rod, and maybe it's early season yet, but that snap's got to get up higher.

90% of his snaps are low.

They're

all coming off the ground.

Yep.

And that slows everything down.

Yes.

Because the guy catching, the guy back there has to look down.

He can't see where the defense is.

It takes his eyes off the defense.

There's another low snap.

Tosses wide out to the left side and hit hard.

Are they, was that up?

Do what they're calling it.

Is this a lateral?

I think

it's a lateral with a fumble, but recovered by Hurley.

I wasn't sure if that was going to be a forward pass, almost almost intercepted back there or picked off.

So that was, this you give these lost to the running back.

And

that will bring up third and 16.

Well, Tritone's defense has settled down after that first series.

Cottle back to pass.

He's got time.

He's going to air it out there.

He's got Hayden wide open.

Conn, hey, it's a foot race.

And I don't think you're going to catch Charlie Hayden.

60 yard pass from Cottle to Hayden.

And Hayden scores his second touchdown.

of the afternoon

yeah he had him beat right off the line of scrimmage that kid was chasing him the whole time and that time he set his feet nice and threw a beautiful spiral right to Hainan beautiful pass

40 yard pass at the 142 mark and is early going for two we don't know yet they might mix it up a little bit here well Kyle's out backfield is Hainan

Gilbertson and Lotzer.

Lotzer.

He's a keeper and he will walk it in.

Yep.

And with 142 to go here first quarter, it's early 16.

Try counting nothing.

We'll take a 30-second break.

We look closely at all the data.

We pour over test results.

But what we see is you.

We see what makes your smile widen and your eyes brighten.

Even as we study breakthrough research and implement the most advanced technologies, what we see is how we can use it to serve you and your well-being.

Healthcare is a lot of things, but the best care is human.

Aspirous Health.

What we see is you.

All right.

Back here in early June, I just took a drink out of your second bottle of water, if you don't mind.

Yeah,

I'm not

thirsty.

Don't worry about it.

You know, you planned one for the first half, one for the second half, I guess.

I didn't think that.

I thought you brought two because there's two people up here.

But you brought two because there's two halves.

And I brought two donuts this morning and you ate one.

You thought they were both one for you, one for me.

My doctor says you got to have fruit.

I'm thinking

of you.

I'm thinking of

you.

All right, all right another nice drive by the North Stars Yeah, that was a beautiful

pass

right on the money the key to that one was getting given coddle time in the backfield to let Hainan get loose behind the defense and He did it was a perfect pass to Hainan over the shoulder catch

Now let's see what this kickoff does

Yeah, is this the same guy kicking off?

Yeah Gotta keep his head down this time.

He picked up his head.

I think Kind of like that golf swing

Shilling with the run up and let's see Much better kick little squibber goes to bags at about the 34 yard line and he's gonna be run out of bounds at about the Tri-County 44 return to about 10 yards Now they're gonna market at the 38 right in front of where I'm standing

43

Tritone heading towards the north end zone.

I think it's

the 43, but

43.

That's what I meant to say So I'm here, you know, it's right in front of me.

I

still

yeah, right front of me is

yeah.

Well the eyesight's not what it used to be First and 10 penguins free ball alone in the backfield

And it looks like they're going to pass it.

A little spasso to Beggs and he breaks a tackle and they'll cut from behind but not until he picks up.

5-10, 15-20, I'll give him 21 yards on that play.

Yeah, Hayden came back to make the tackle but nice looking play there for the Tri-County.

Quickly in the Hurley territory, now at the 37-yard lane, well they were there before and they spoiled all.

Yep.

We go alone in the backfield.

He's got wing backs.

Well, I don't know.

Begs will go in motion and we got

too much movement.

Motion by Tricone.

I'll

back

him up five.

Boy, that's something that hurts too when you get a penalty like that.

You just got a nice play and then get a five yard penalty to move the ball back.

Drives the coach

nuts.

Yes, we're down to a minute and 14 to go here in quarter number one.

Ball and all back on the really 42 yard line first and 15 People at the shotgun takes it to beg so we'll right go tries to move on corner and he's upended nice tackle Tackle by Gilbertson

Christopher, so I think

oh Yeah, five is Christopherson

Let's see, what did he get there?

Well game, thank you.

Thank you again.

But wait long enough.

Yep.

I think they got binoculars down there though.

Well they have three guys on that

side

and two on this end.

So they have six eyes.

Second and 11 is...

Rebo looks to turn the corner, and he is not going to do that,

he's

wrapped up.

Wow, excellent play that time by Marshall Lotzer.

That big guy was coming right at him, he came off his block, and boom, brought him down.

Nice job.

Morgana in that play as well.

Offence has stalled, defense has stepped

up.

That probably was the last play of the first quarter as the clock is down to double zeros and that will do it for quarter number one We'll take one minute break early 16 and try counting nothing we'll be back in one minute

All right, back here in Hurley as we are in between quarter one and two, Hurley up in front, 16 to nothing, and Tritone facing a third and 11 at the Hurley 38 yard line.

Yeah, I'm gonna stick up.

Sneak pick here, I'll hold the stats I'm going.

So you go...

Okay, you want to put his carries and

then here yards.

Yeah, okay.

Yeah, this is what I did right here Just like that beautiful and you can just We're gonna have a smart choice of the game this season and I'll read a little live ad here as we're waiting for the start of second quarter the smart choice of the game is brought to you by Northwood Technical College and if you are looking to make a smart choice in your future, please consider

contacting the great folks at Northwood Technical College and make a plan for your future.

Northwood Technical College is located on Beezer Avenue in Aston, right across from the hospital, right next door to Aston High School.

We are back to action here as we start quarter number two.

Free will back to pass under a heavy rush and ball partially tipped could be intercepted and well almost intercepted but give Gates Begg's credit for knocking that ball out of Kristofferson's hands.

as Landon had the better chance of catching it once it was tipped by the onrushing defender.

I'll bring up a huge fourth and two now for the Penguins on the early 38 yard line.

So the smart choice of the game, Joe, as we watch this game, what play had a major effect on the flow of this ballgame.

That's what we're looking for.

The 60 yard touchdown so far.

So far, yes.

Free ball back to pass.

Has time, has time.

Now he's got to roll up to his right and he is going to... Oh, I think he picked up the first down by... No, they're saying he went out at the 42.

He's like two inches short.

No, he's 10 yards short because it was fourth and 12.

I knew that.

It's early in the season.

You got to have these mistakes early.

I think I'm more worried about you taking how you are.

I think you're looking over here.

Yes.

Don't even nothing to see here.

Nothing to see here.

That's all right.

No, it's it's the first game of the year.

You're looking around trying to teach me a little bit too.

It's enough.

So no worries.

You've

been carried for three yards.

Early's first possession here in the second quarter and I got a mark down the last run by

Tritone Just a quick little thing on the first quarter every player carried three times except one So it's pretty good distribution there.

Yes

Bowden Gilbertson with a big hole and he's gonna be close to the first down

real close this is right in my line of vision but I'm gonna say half a yard short maybe yeah

I think you're right on there buddy yep yep half a yard short oh the big guy came in 95 coming in at no tackle

yep yeah they have some beef on that defensive line right now there's one ball on the early 46 yard line 40

Yeah, 46 yard line low snap coddle.

He got a guy wide open and the pass is caught by Wesley shilling Maybe what are they calling down there bumble?

We're covered by try counting mm-hmm.

I took my off the way to see who cut the pass Yeah, you came from behind and swung at the ball and knocked it out

All right, so the pass is complete and give him a completion for From the 46 down to about the 20 I think is where he fumbled it so 30 probably 34 yard pass And then shilling with the fumble so try county that was gauge bags on defense wasn't it knock the ball out

People looking for a rumor on the corner.

Oh, no, he cuts it back But he's wrapped up by the linebackers that came in he he got around the on rushing defense aligned with the linebackers or right there

So I just keep going here with the passes.

Yeah, okay.

Yeah.

All right

That was a good play defensively from try county because otherwise They had first and 10 at the 20

Second and

Make sure I get this right now second and nine ball on their own their own 19-yard line Free ball Quick pitch out to begs he breaks attack on he's still going

cool a flag up play

up play

came in

They just gonna pick up the first down.

I believe but let's see Where that flag was there might be a spot falls and another holding call

Holding on Tricone Well, that's why he broke that tackle right yeah That's gonna back them up

And

so it's gonna push them back to where back to the 17

Yeah

Second and 14 to go yeah right

around the

15

airline but work Trying to find his name again.

I just had it work tea on him And he made the tackle

And up up the middle.

I believe that went to Garcia As soon he gets up.

Yes, that was Garcia.

He didn't get very much I'll give him maybe a yard

There's up a third and 13, Joe.

It's not third and three, you know.

It's third and 13.

Oh, you just did it once.

I hope Marissa didn't mark that as a mistake.

She did.

Yeah, probably.

Probably.

All right.

Here we go.

We will keep her.

It was a delayed pitch out too big and Hayden

read it

almost grabbed it in midair.

He would have scored.

Is that a fumble though?

No, it's not a fumble.

Is it a forward pass?

It depends on, well, they're just looking at it right now, right?

Because if it went forward, right?

But if it went

backwards,

it's Hurley's ball.

Right.

Well, I can't tell from this angle.

Right, it's a hard angle.

Okay, it was a fumble.

Yep.

There was a neat little trick play by Hayden and did an excellent job of reading that one.

He almost picked it off.

Well a little trickery there for a tricony, but it didn't work

Charlie Hainan with the recovery and Hurley's an excellent field position now on the trite or yeah tricony 15 yard line This is Cottle on a keeper looking for rumor on the left side.

He's gonna be wrapped up and pushed out of bounds by

Don't

bring up he lost the yard

Yeah, it might have been more in the yard.

Chain game moves

way back,

but not way back.

Backed up about two yards, so I'm making a second and 12.

Looks like he should have cut that one inside right away.

Put that foot down and cut inside.

Yeah, he wasn't going to be able to turn that corner.

No.

Cattle in the shotgun, direct snap goes to Gilbertson.

Another flag

down.

Now

let's see what this call

is.

No signal yet.

Holding on Hurley.

All right.

Sure, they're going to take this one.

That's the second penalty on Hurley.

We'll back them up 10 yards.

You're getting out of fuel range now.

Yeah, it's like five holding calls on both teams already.

Early in the season.

Yeah, a lot of reaching.

Ball's pushed back to where are we?

24.

24 yard line, early facing a second and 19.

Marshall Watts are in the backfield with Cottle.

Again, the low snap just throws that playoff.

That's one thing you're going to have to work on.

Pass thrown to Haynes is incomplete.

Yeah, he's picking it up off the ground every time so

far.

53 is in there, that's Owen Neemey.

What else is in the line?

Number 9 is 9 in it, Trent T. John.

He's one of the linemen and see if we can pick up the other linemen.

27?

Yeah, you've got, I think that's Gavin Koski.

Yeah,

those are your linemen.

And you also have Trent T. John.

Cottle in the shotgun, they're all afternoon and here's a

with a reverse to Hainan looking for a room and he's going to be wrapped up.

Picked up some yardage but it's going to be well short of the first down.

I'd give him maybe four yards on that one.

He's

up fourth in about 13 I would say.

Well do they have a

kicker?

Well the one who kicked off right?

He had a rough kick off but he did.

Boots the second one.

I'm sure he just wanted to make contact on the second one.

He probably felt a little nervous there, so

who knows.

Looks like they got Roar Pion in the bullpen.

Yeah,

looking on his snaps, so he might be coming into play center.

Fourth and long, Connell rolling out to his right, looking for a guy.

He's got a guy out there, but just under shot him, and that was early Hainan.

Had the guy deep in the corner of the end zone.

And

Chaitanya will take over so I'll tell you what, early at first in 10 on the 15.

Yep.

Isn't that holding call?

Yes.

That was big.

Yep.

But I think you're going to see a different center come in.

Owen plays strong on defense, does an excellent job, but maybe just needs a little break from center right now.

So first in 10 tri-count, he's 7.39 to go here, second quarter, 16 to nothing Hurley.

Charlie Haney with two touchdowns, one on a long 60-yard run and another one on a long pass.

He has bags and you want to get him out in the open and you might get there now.

Nope, Hurley defense, now he's still running and he's

going

to pick up nine yards.

He ran about 50 but he's only got credit for nine.

Holden Gilbertson and Trent Tian with the tackle.

He

took off to the right, and he was met by a bunch of North Star defenders, and they were able to cut it back, and I thought, boy, if he gets around that corner, he'll be gone.

But some of the defenders on Hurley as they're taught, stay home.

Yep, you gotta stay home, exactly.

Oh,

they gave him 10 on that one, alright.

They'll give him 10 also.

First down for Tchaikovsky.

Boom, two running backs in

motion.

They were

right into each other.

This one's coming back.

Yeah, I think they're gonna take this the play though, right?

It didn't blow dead.

So I think he'd lose six yards.

I don't know if I Think they gotta take it.

Oh, okay.

I think it's it's the plane never happened Okay, it's kind of like a dead ball when it was in the flat.

Both running backs run ahead on collision.

Yeah, they run right at

each

other.

I wonder which one was wrong.

I'm pretty sure they have to take this it's not

It's a dead it's a dead the balls should have never been snapped They're talking about something all right, they're gonna know That is the fourth penalty on the tricone mm-hmm The backs wind up as wing backs

Yeah, they turn each other.

I wonder what they said when they were looking at each other when they almost collided

Maybe we shouldn't have done that.

Well, refs are calling the timeout now.

There's a conversation here on something.

I'm not sure what the delay is.

To the market.

I think the coach for Bright County was wondering what happened.

To the market too far back.

Yeah, I think so

Well hey, that might be the smart call the game if uh, yeah the Yeah yard means a lot referees marked it back seven and the Tri-County coach caught it and they moved the ball back up two yards There's a new running back for tri-county number 14 Israel Chumley

We didn't get much no Landon Chris Robertson comes up with the

tackle

Picked up what?

Two?

Yeah, about two or three, yeah.

If Landon doesn't make that tackle, though, he could have been gone.

There was nobody over there.

I think he picked up one.

It's second and 14 clocks.

The scoreboard shows second and three.

Oh, no, it shows 13.

Second and 13.

We go back to pass.

Quick pass out.

Oh!

Almost a

one-handed interception.

But putting Gilbertson that would have been the play of the game.

Yes, that would have been sports center

He was backing up.

Yeah in the defensive back and just almost grabbed a one-handed inception Not sure who that pass was intended for but I'm just gonna marketing complete Didn't see who was out there.

Let's focus on Gilbertson third down and 13 ball on the Tritone 26 yard line

The most days in the shotgun backs are split And off goes to bags looking for room on the right side turns the corner

wrapped up and we got another holding call I

think

Hurley might decline this one It's gonna bring up a fourth in long But it could make it third and longer Wouldn't be surprised if they

We're talking to the early coaching staff now giving them their options and they're gonna say Take the play it looks like no,

but

yep.

What are you doing

taking the play?

Yep

So brings up a fourth and Just up a few yards on that carry in four yards, there's a beef

fourth and eighth.

Are they going to go for it?

I don't know.

It looks like they got a guy in punt formation back there.

Yeah.

Hainan back deep, punting into the wind.

Thanks to the pun.

It's a high kick.

Hainan will hold it up a little bit, and Hainan bobbled it, but fell on it, and Hurley will have good field position right at their own 45 yard line.

6-0.

6 to go here in the second quarter.

We'll keep it right here as early as we've got their offense on the field already.

Yep, not wasting any time.

Two games next week, Joe.

Yeah, Thursday, August 27th.

We'll be in Irwood as the Florence Bobcats come into town to take on the Red Devils.

6 p.m.

kick by 45 pregame.

And then Friday afternoon in Wakefield, it'll be Randy Charles and myself, North Central.

and go give it in Wakefield.

That's a 5 o'clock kickoff.

Low snap.

Hainan picks him out the ground and he is out to the races.

One guy to beat, breaks a tackle and now wrapped up.

Trying to get around Beggs.

He would have been the last guy but Hainan cut back and that left the Tri-County defense catch up to him.

So Ball was on the 45 where did it end up?

5, 10, 15, 20, 21, 21 yards.

And another first down for the North Stars.

He is shifting.

Oh,

he is.

You know, Ollie needs his one little gap and he

just...

You

know,

I don't know.

Last year I think he had a 200 yard game didn't he?

Yeah, I think so.

That was another first down.

Did you get that for Hurley?

Yep.

Low snap picked up by... That Gilbert's in and he's looking to get in the end zone.

Breaks a tackle at the five and he's away from...

There's eight defenders from Tri-County.

I think he ran through six of them.

So a 34-yard run for Gilbertson and Hurley put six more on the board.

What a run!

He did like four spins.

Yes, I got dizzy watching him.

5.28 to go here in quarter number two.

early up 22 to nothing.

This was the final score last year, wasn't it, in the playoff game.

Hainan and lots of, this is going to be lots around the carry.

He's going to be wrapped up short of the goal line.

Two-point conversion is no good and with 5-28 to go in the second quarter, it's early 22 and try counting nothing.

We'll be back in 30 seconds with Hurley's kickoff.

Wasaw Holmes is redefining the building experience.

All right, back here in Hurley.

5-28 to go second quarter, Hurley up 22-0.

What a run by Bowden Gilbertson.

It was beautiful.

Well, how many yards did he go?

34 yards.

And like you said, there were eight players of defense and he beat six of them by himself.

It was about four or five spins.

Yeah.

Yeah, it was a beautiful run and he wasn't being stopped that time.

So Hurley up right now, 22-0 with 5-28 left here in the second quarter.

All right.

And they're kicking.

with the wind up their back you like our new shirts yes yes so you got those uh for us yeah oh i i

take

care of our i hang announcers you brought us water i

did

i left luke a sandwich yep we had rules in the studio today yep now we have w j m s w i m i shirts

i know

i think i'm

spoiling you guys wow i'm gonna have to stop doing

that

That is cool.

Here is the run-up and the kick by Shilling.

It's gonna be on the ground.

Oh, 95 right.

That was like a shortstop.

Yep.

It was a hard groan to rate to him.

It was hard to catch that ball.

It was bouncing along the ground.

Do you remember who

they had kicking off last year, Rod?

Do you remember the kicker last year?

Was it Ro?

I can't remember who was kicking last year.

Hmm.

Question.

Yeah.

You know, it might have been Rowe.

Is he here?

Is he in the crowd?

We'll ask him.

I don't

know.

Maybe his dad's out there.

I could ask his dad.

First in ten, here's a handoff to Beggs, and he's wrapped up and dropped by Schilling.

Wow.

That's going to be a loss.

of about a yard.

Biggs did not get back to the line of scrimmage, but he lost maybe even two yards.

One yard.

I'll give him one yard.

One yard loss.

Well, Wesley can sure tackle.

He's not having a good night kicking though, but he can sure tackle.

That was a beautiful tackle out there.

Second and 11.

Clock running, 4.57.

You go here before half time.

Freeble.

Thanks in motion, and we have a leg illegal motion.

You saw it.

Yep Penalties are really slowing try Coney down.

Yeah

Those mistakes those mistakes hurt

Ian Han in the ballgame know it defense as Just look down who came out

Oh, and Mimi, I think, came out.

So it's second and 16 for Tricone, heading towards the south end

zone.

Figgs goes in motion, Handoff goes to the big guy, Garcia.

He directs a tackle and rumbles back to the original line of

scrimmage.

He reminds me

of...

What's

that guy that?

Norm Ghoulash.

Remember Norm Ghoulash in the Colts?

Ghoulash.

Ghoulash.

Ghoulash.

Not food, Joe, not food.

That's not Ghoulash.

I can eat some Ghoulash.

No, I don't remember that name actually.

Was that a wrestler?

No, it was a fullback for the Colts many, many years ago.

Same kind of body style.

3rd and 11th for Trikonis.

And up again to the big guy, and he's wrapped up.

Boy, who got in there first?

I don't know.

At the bottom of that pile, that was a beautiful 56.

You have Ryan Thier.

Wow.

Beautiful play by there.

Then he had some help from linebackers.

Also

number 87, Ian Hahn.

Nice job by Hurley that time.

There was a Thier a couple of years ago on this team.

Had a good good on defense to an offense low snap on the punt begs are gonna get it off.

It's a high one and Hainan is gonna get away from it Hainan's name back to receive it number five was back there and he He got out of there.

That was a Christopher's and smart move because that ball barely made it back to the Well, they have second and fourth and 12.

Yeah the 14-yard punt.

Yep

So Hurley's going to have good field position once again with 3-25 left here in the first half up 22-0 and they could add some more to that score, Rod.

Yeah.

This offense is kind of fun to watch.

It is.

It's a good mix.

They really got a lot of people on offense that they can count on.

Let's see if they change centers.

Nope.

53's down in there.

Colorado at the middle.

And he's going to be wrapped up.

Picked up about three yards.

think what it was Rod is what they did is they did like they want to get the warm-up pitcher up the backup so the starting pitcher sees him doing that all of a sudden oh hey I better get my stuff together

yeah all right yeah cuz 70 was warming up on the sideline

yeah yeah one

of us second and the boat seven this is lobster

on the carry.

Picks up positive yardage.

Gives him about four more.

Maybe three more.

It looks like it's going to be third in about three here.

This

offense is almost in four-done territory, even at midfield.

Yeah, I

agree

with

you.

He stays in that.

Shocked information.

This is Hainan Went right cuts it back now.

He's gonna turn the corner.

He's got the first down and more

Oh, I almost thought he was gonna get himself in trouble there for a minute Shifty That must be his nickname shifty.

I was watching See the camera crew down there on the both of 35 yard line.

Oh, yeah Jason Juno and Hainan was headed right for

that They didn't move no

Not Jason Juno.

He's taken some hits over the years.

Oh, yeah, yes Sometimes he's whitey too close to the action.

He's whitey whitey Why do you remember that wiry?

What replacement's why are you waiting?

You tried to say it with that accent.

All right.

We got a time out With 156 to go in the second quarter early up 22 to nothing will take a 30 second break

All right back here in Hurley coming out of the time out 22 to nothing Joe.

It's been all Hurley here in this football.

Yeah, they're they're doing a great job offensively, especially Gaining it.

They all gave them like three to one already defense has been doing good.

So You'd never seen that show, huh?

What's your what's the name of the replacements?

Yes,

I guess with canneries.

Yes.

Yes.

Yes.

I did see that

one.

That's what I was saying wiry

Okay, because the kicker was kind of skinny.

They said, oh, does that guy kick at 60 yards?

He's a soccer player from England or somewhere.

Yes.

So they call them wiring.

Yeah, they had the build, they had the build a new football team with what they could find.

Yep.

Yep.

Kotlin shotgun looking, rolling.

He was right.

Got a guy out there and it's intercepted by Gage Beggs.

Beggs read it perfectly.

And he'll bring it back to the strike Tony.

41 yard line that pass had to have a little bit of air yeah under it it was more on a bullet pass and Beggs was right there to intercept it yep so that was what 33 to 21 and then you mark number 23 as the interceptor oh did you do that okay I'll just do that yeah

Just in case you probably were gonna do it.

Just not at that.

Well, no, I wasn't at all.

I was just doing my own stat over here.

But you caught me.

Snap boaster.

Oh, new quarterback.

New quarterback.

Short pass to bags, I think it bounced.

It did.

Yes.

Number 12.

Checked in.

Sam Boyd.

They threw us a curve ball there.

Sam Boyd is out.

Nope, Sam Boyd is staying in there.

So I've got to try something maybe a little different, you know, this guy may be a better passer.

Although that first one was short.

He still might be in the pocket a lot better, you know.

They moved number two out to a tight end now.

Yeah.

We'll see.

It's kind of a tall quarterback.

Yeah.

Boyd, back to pass under a heavy rush.

No, not even a heavy rush anymore.

That's going to be intentional grounding, I believe.

I don't know what they call.

Is it down where the ball goes down?

What happens?

Is it calling that a fumble?

No?

That's either going to be a fumble or intentional grounding.

I can't imagine they're going to call.

I

didn't think that was a fumble.

So it's going to be intentional grounding.

And do you mark it off from where the grounding was so you also get penalty yardage?

We're grounding and They didn't tell that's where you threw it from

Not sure exactly how that works, but they marked off from where he threw it so

So that's gonna back them up third and 33 and this is bags looking for a running room and

Man almost broke a tackle.

He's gonna be wrapped up.

Well, well short of a first-down market.

Yeah Trent Tion and let's see who else Trent Tion and Wesley Schilling both with the tackle there doing a nice job and did they go for it now Rod with what 48 seconds left or do you punt this away?

I would punt

I would punt

I wouldn't get I wouldn't give Hurley the ball there.

Did he get theirs?

It

doesn't look like a punt coming up here

He lost about 15.

Look down, 31 seconds to go.

Frugal back at quarterback,

and

he's wrapped up.

And Hurley's going to have a chance for... They have plenty of time.

Yeah, and then they have two timeouts.

I think they used one, right?

They got two more left.

Let's see.

Yeah, they have two left.

Well, I don't know if that was the smartest thing to do right now.

I mean, it's 22 to nothing, but...

You got a whole second half to play I would have punted that ball I think I

think so I think so you're taking a big putting your defense in a bad spot.

Yeah Hurley's got a quick strike offense they do Well any of those

backs can take it to the house

if Hurley scores here It's uh, that's gonna be marked as a bad call.

Mm-hmm not a smart choice Cotto back to pass rolling out to his right looking for and I was gonna keep it

Oh, puts a shoulder down.

Yeah, I think he won that battle.

Yes, he did.

He put his shoulder down hard.

But that's how you finish a run.

That's

not the type

of...

His knee injuries are not affecting his

football right now.

And he only got, what, eight yards on that one?

But still, it looked

like...

I

probably should have been six, but he won the battle of the shoulder.

Yeah,

he definitely

did.

He's a tough runner.

20 seconds to go here.

Second and one.

Call it back to pass.

Gilbert's in across the middle.

Can he break some tackles?

He's gonna be wrapped up.

He's got the first down.

And now he really calls a timeout with 12 seconds to go.

Ball is, let's see how far it was there, from the 26th down to the, where they're marking at, 26th.

It's like about 11 yards, I think so.

Yep.

Took a while for that.

Good

guy,

yeah.

12 seconds to go, hurley down to one time out, up 22 to nothing, but knocking on the door.

Yeah.

Fifteen yards is not much to get for these quick backs.

Backer football tomorrow against Denver.

Eight o'clock start, is it?

Eight o'clock?

I think it's eight o'clock.

Is that eight o'clock our time or is that eight o'clock Denver time?

You know I'm not a hundred percent sure.

It would be nine o'clock on Denver.

I would think it's seven o'clock our time.

But a couple more pre-season games and regular season starts.

Yes.

And we have a show we're going to be doing, but we'll tell you more about that next week.

Give you all the details on that, right?

Yeah.

I just gave him a little sneak peek, a little teaser.

Yes.

We hope it gets approved.

I think so.

All right, back to action here.

12 seconds to go.

Hurley coming out of the time ult.

Colo back in shots of information.

What we're going to do is write.

Passes out to get the receiver and this will stop the clock because it's the first down that was the number 12 and That was good for about 12 yards.

I would say it was gonna be on about the four yard line.

Mm-hmm beautiful play that time and under pressure he threw a nice ball sure did So now getting another first down though, so Hurley will have it like he said at the once they change

everything

6

seconds to go here in the second quarter.

This is like an in-between call.

You know what I mean?

It is 6 yards to go.

I mean, either way.

I mean, do you roll them out?

I think I roll them out and give them the option to run our pass.

My guess is going to be, Haynes is going to have his ball.

The ball is going to be in his hand with the option to pass or run.

That would be my call.

All right.

So Hurley did take their last time.

Oh, I thought maybe they would save that.

Well, there's only six seconds left.

Yeah, that's true.

I mean, they had the clock stopped.

Yeah.

They moved the chains.

They stopped the clock in high school, right?

Yes.

Yeah, that's what I thought.

All right.

Well, Hayden's not in the backfield, so he's not going to get it.

It's going to go direct snap.

Number three turns the corner and he is in for the touchdown.

Wow.

Bowden Gilbertson.

And that going for it on...

Fourth and long for Tricone really cost them.

Yeah, we talked about that if they should have punted the ball I mean even that extra 15 yards with 48 seconds left You know is is a big thing that going forward on fourth and what 12 I think it was yes.

Yeah, and You you can't be given a team.

I mean Hurley's dominating right now by the you know,

so We go for two and this is

not going to be any good lots are got chipped up in the backfield so with one second to go here in the second quarter it's early 28th try counting nothing we'll take a 30 second break come back with early kickoff after this message

All right back here in Hurley one second to go In the second quarter Hurley put six more on the board 28 to nothing and I believe Hurley will who just

involved?

They do try calling.

That's right.

That's right.

They deferred they deferred

All

right, it's a shilling with the

run up in the kick probably be a little squibber and it is and this one's going to roll into the hands of freeball 30 35 looking to turn the corner and now he's wrapped up at the 42 yard line and that will do it first half has come to a close with early up 28 to nothing we'll take a pick a four minute break here's some words from our sponsors and we'll come back with a little

all right back here in hurley we're at halftime with the score hurley twenty eight and try counting nothing and hurley's offense is just loaded with a lot of weapons ending christopher sin with some runs bolden gilbertson with some nice runs charlie heyman with some nice runs and max carl also running well and passing well so

A lot of weapons out there and their defense is just playing stellar as they are again pitching a shutout against Tri-Cony.

I've seen Tri-Cony and Hurley play twice and Tri-Cony has yet to score in six quarters.

Taking a look at rushing totals for Tri-Cony here, Beggs.

Gage Beggs has six carries for 29 yards.

Damian Freebull has

9 carries for 22 yards.

Armando Garcia has 7 carries for 10 yards.

Number 14, Israel Chumley had a carry for 4 yards.

And number 12 got one Russian stat, Sam Boyd.

He came in there and he lost 15 yards on that rollout that ended up being a intentional grounding play at the end.

15-yard loss on that one.

So 24 carries for Tri-County 50 yards.

They have a lot of yardage that went backwards.

It really cuts into their yardage.

In the passing game, I have them for one completion out of four attempts for 21 yards.

So 71 yards full offense for Tri-County in the first half.

Joe, do you have anything on Hurley?

Nope.

You're

not ready yet?

No, I got him for you.

So I'm looking at the quarterback.

Let's see.

Well, first of all, we'll do some running yardage for, let's see, number 21 has, that's Hanan, has 92 yards rushing right now.

And we also got number 33, who is Max Caldell.

He's having six yards rushing, but he's also 28, I'm sorry, 28 yards rushing for him.

Looking at number three, Bowden Gilbertson.

We have 58 yards rushing and 15 yards for Landon Christopherson and three for Marshall Lotzer.

So if you add that all up total right now, it's 196 yards rushing for Hurley on 22 carries.

Of course, leading rusher right now is number 21, which is Charlie Heyman.

And he also does, yeah, two touchdowns, one receiving, one running.

And for passing, they are 4 of 10 for 117 yards and one interception.

So those sound like great stats.

They are.

Wow.

I got my crayons and my colored pencils all over here and I'll bring my protractor next week and I'll be off.

So what do they have for?

Don't ask.

196 yards rushing to Tricone's 50.

Yeah.

I guess that explains the 28 to nothing.

well score

and i'll tell you it's the defense for hurley's playing a spectacular game i mean that they're really putting uh... uh... they're getting to that quarterback a few times and uh... they're causing some holding calls because i think tricounty at three penalties on holding and two legal procedures yes so and that hurt him too because they had second and like six second and eight and then penalties knock you back a little bit but uh... hurley dominating the first half right now and uh...

I don't know what you do for Tri-County in the second half.

They had a few nice runs.

A few runs outside but otherwise Hurley pretty much handled them in the first half.

Yeah and I think unfortunately for Tri-County I think the decision to go for it on fourth and long with under a minute to go in that second quarter gave Hurley excellent field position with two timeouts.

and they scored with one second ago.

I mean 22-0, you're getting the ball to start the second half, you're still in the ball game.

They really shot themselves in the foot there.

It's just my opinion on what I would have done differently.

I'm

100% behind you.

It wasn't the call of the game, but it wasn't smart.

With 48 seconds left, and you have the ball at their own.

44.

Yeah, it was something like that.

And there's 48 seconds left.

Hurley had two timeouts left.

And you know, you run for a yard and then they give Hurley the ball and Hurley's a good quick strike offense.

I mean, they're just getting in their groove now.

I wonder what the second half is going to look like.

But yeah, not a good call.

Yeah, that's just our opinion up here.

And we're in final to our opinion.

But I think it really, really put a tricone in a bad spot here as we get into the third quarter.

We have about five and a half minutes to go yet.

Now some of the games coming up here in our schedule is, like I said, Florence at Ironwood next Thursday night.

North Central at Will Give It.

Next Friday afternoon in Wakefield and the following Friday we're back in Ironwood for Lakeland and Hubble.

And I think we have Crystal Falls

Coming to ironwood the following week, and then we're back here.

I think and holy for a shawanigan game later in September And we have a couple games in Bezra.

All right back here in Hurley we're about a minute away from third quarter kickoff with Hurley open front 28 to nothing take a look at scoring highlights.

It started with Hurley third play of the ball game.

Charlie Hayden on a 54 yard run at 1035 mark gave Hurley a 6 point lead that a 2 point conversion was good and Hurley went up 8 to nothing.

They got the ball back up to a 3 and out by Tri Coney.

and Max Cotto a beautiful pass over the outstretched hand with the defender right into the hands of Charlie Hainan and who caught it and went for six more with 142 to go in the first quarter that was a 40 yard pass two point conversion was good and at that point early led 16 to nothing and it was time for Bowdoin Gilbertson to put on a show

Yeah, 34 yard run.

That's the one where he spun about five times.

He broke about seven tackles.

And he ran it in from 34 yards out with 528 to go in the second quarter.

Extra point was no good, and Hurley led 22 to nothing.

And then on that play we just, that situation we just talked about a few minutes ago, North Central, North Central.

I knew I was going to say North Central eventually, because that's the color uniforms they were.

Tri-County.

With the 26 seconds rule in the second quarter decided over done fourth and long did make it gave early excellent to position on the 26 yard line and Bowden Gilbertson ran it in from six yards out with one second ago extra point was no good And that's where we are at halftime early 28 and nothing and there's really nothing going wrong for

early Joe No, besides that interception and then they did they have a fumble?

They probably recovered it.

Yeah, so besides that interception, they've been pretty flawless here in the first half and moving the ball quite a bit.

Like I said, 196 yards rushing is exactly what coach wants.

Coach

Edavine's happy.

I've read in the paper today that their next two ball games on the road at Leona and at Phillips will be a big test for them.

Those are two of the top teams.

I think both teams

Phillips didn't make it to the playoffs.

I guess they can't make the eight man playoffs because their school enrollment is too big.

Okay, but you can still play eight man football Okay, you're not gonna make the playoffs, but they would have made the playoffs had they been eligible that they were that good and then Leona I think they won there.

They made it to the second round of the playoffs.

So You don't know who they lost obviously into the graduation, but two tough games coming up for Hurley both on the road.

Mm-hmm

And Hurley, if they keep playing the way they are today, though, they'll keep that running attack going.

But some tougher matchups coming up.

But they have some big boys on that offensive line and some quick people in the backfield, too.

And by looking at carries, I mean, there's one, two, three, four, five guys who touch the ball.

Four of them each have three carries.

And then the two other ones have one.

So it's like, yeah.

So it's like, they spread the ball around.

I think the only flaw that I've seen is the

The center snap.

Yeah, the center snap was struggling.

He seems to be getting it up there now.

Like I said, they were warming up the backup, but all of a sudden the kids said, oh man, I got to get that ball up.

Because the timing is so different when that ball gets snapped, you know, to the ground and gets snapped up, you know.

Yeah.

Because they're doing direct snaps.

It's not always going to one guy.

They got three guys back, kind of similar to what they ran in Monomony for many years.

You don't know who's getting the ball at those moments.

But if you got to take your eye off the defense and look down on the throne and gather yourself, but there's still up 28 to nothing.

So I mean, it's a, it's a little, if you're going to look for something, that's one thing they're going to want to correct.

Yeah.

And you always got, that's why you have to practice yet.

That's why you have the team meetings and everything.

You got to practice all those things.

And against maybe a better defensive team, a little quicker getting to the quarterback, them, them kind of snaps might hurt a little bit.

So you do have to get them up and it's all about timing.

Handoffs Hurley runs that offense where you never know who's gonna get the ball But a lot of times the guy who gets the ball first isn't the guy who's running with it because he hands it off quick But right, you know, so that stamp's got to be high up there.

So it's kind of a deceiving deceiving offense.

Yes, not as deceiving as it was with Erickson with that Three backfield quarterback down low and then I struggled with who had the ball sometimes

members Josh seedy

Well, yeah, that was a great offense when they had him at quarterback I could never tell I'd be up here like Who's got the ball?

That's how you kind of played it because you never knew they were good at hiding the ball and you

think someone got tackled

and Yeah,

you're still going on the other side of the field.

Yep So yeah, so Hurley's gonna kick off your rod.

So let's see if he can give a good deep boot this time.

Yeah

coaches for Hurley

As we mentioned Chris Edivine, the head coach, assistant coaches Dan Rye, he's been around coaching for a long time.

Marcus Ray, Max Bertilli, JJ Aspenlaw, Brady Thompson, Jacob Tilton, and Bob Moore.

We are set to go here.

It's a squibber and it's... Wow, is that recovered by Hurley?

It was... they're saying yes.

Yep.

I definitely, I saw the ball at his waist.

Number 95 had the first shot and that's Cameron Fenske and it got by him and then he went back to fall on it.

He did but the ball scored an oak from underneath him.

You're exactly right Rod and then Hurley recovered.

I didn't get who recovered the football though.

I was trying to see who recovered it but Hurley's got the ball.

First and ten.

Yeah.

And that good field position too.

first in ten on the tri-county 42 yard line already up 28 to nothing and let's see who they got in the backfield it's hard to tell at this angle Charlie is that Charlie Hainan there's these some new guys out there now well that was Hainan yep Hainan might have picked up one yard on that carry

Next coddles in there number three is Bowdoin Gilbertson And now checking in is Liam Hall coming out is Christopherson The layman in there I think Owen Neamey is still at the center and Hall is at one of the guard spots There's Gilbertson right at the middle and he picks up good yardage

Close to the first down.

Maybe a yard or two short.

Let's see what the chain game marks him.

Oh, it's more than this.

That's about two yards.

Seven on the scary, one on the first.

Second, third and eighth, third and two.

Big guy in there for the defense, number 95.

Yeah, playing most tackle.

Holler, right at the middle, he's going to get first down and more.

Another first down for Hurley.

I have North, I have Tricone who's only three first downs in the first half.

I think that's a good statuette, exactly right.

Another

first down for the North Stars as they are moving here inside Tricone territory, ball on the 30-29 yard line.

New set of downs 10 26 to go third quarter 28 to nothing This could move into a running clock situation here if they score On this drive coddle up the middle and boy, he's a hard runner.

Yeah,

he

is Kind of runs more straight up than most right backs, but Does hang on to that ball then he does move the pile so I'm not faulting them

Seven yards

second

and three all on the Tritone 22 yard line You got Gilbertson just off of coddles right Side and up goes to Hainan took it right now brings it back left breaks a tackle and then he's wrapped up by number

67, Armando Garcia, he made sure that Charlie Heenan didn't get out of his grasp.

No game that time.

Almost looked quick like a face mask, but he grabbed him by the jersey, by the front of the jersey, but the way he came around, swung around, but that was good coverage by Tri-County that time.

That

guy was taught to

wrap up.

That's what he did.

So it's third and four ball on the Tricone 23 other hurley most likely in four down territory here Gilbertson backed up then he gets going forward.

That was kind of an interesting play.

Mm-hmm.

I like it a snap Gilbertson backed up like he was gonna know what that was gonna

Do

I'm giving me a head of steam going forward first

down

Hurley just pecking away, Rod.

Yes.

Little short carries here and there.

The Whitsons a junior.

Hainan's a senior.

Kada's a senior.

So a new set of downs for the North Stars.

Looks like Hainan's gonna get it.

Yep, and... Duke's one guy and now he's wrapped up by... Yeah.

Five guys on Charlie Hainan.

Take it easy on Charlie's only five ten one fifty five guys tackling him Coddle check him back into the login And it'll to to go here eight minutes actually to go Third quarter twenty eight to nothing early

Gilbertson and Cottle in the backfield.

He then goes in motion.

Snap goes to Cottle.

Up the middle, he's got a hole.

He's not going to get the first down, but he's going to get positive yardage.

Maybe four on that carry.

It looks like it's going to be maybe third and five in this angle.

Maybe third and six.

He said seven.

Looks like six to me, but he's closer.

Haby and Chris Kelly.

He's in the next booth over.

Hurley is going towards the North End zone here.

Flag is still blowing pretty good there.

I think it's more like eight miles an hour now.

He said six, I

think

it's eight

now.

Well, it's streaky.

Kyle will pitch out to Gilbertson, dropped it and fell on it.

He'll just move Hurley back.

Gilbertson a loss of a couple yards on that.

Play since he was the closest guy to the ball that'll bring up a fourth and About seven it looks like William Hall came out and I believe the landing Christopherson went in

Well, let's see what this play I think it's gonna be a passing play myself.

I think it is too.

I think it's gonna go to Charlie Hainan

That's just my guess.

They had Charlie set up in a slot.

Colo back to pass under a rush and he had no time, no time.

Tri-County called for the Blitz and Colo could all, he had all he could do to get rid of

that

before he took a sack.

So good defensive stand that time by Tri-County.

They bent a little bit but they didn't break it.

They didn't want that running clock.

That's probably the case I think so So first in 10 Tri-County 616 to go here in the third quarter 28 nothing early all is on the 20 yard line of Tri-County Looks like Israel Chalmi coming in chalm chalm

chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm

chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chalm chal

We're down to Tricone.

Chumlee.

Let's see who's that quarterback.

I think it's number two.

It's just my guess.

Nope, it's number 12.

I guess wrong.

This is 14 on the carry.

That is Israel Chumlee.

As we

start...

Oh, and Mimi with the tackle that time.

Boy, he's a good tackler.

He gets those meat hooks on ya.

He's

strong.

Sam

Boyd at quarterback now.

Boyd is a 6,375 pound senior.

I remember him playing last year.

One name that I recognized along with Beggs.

It's only in motion.

This is Boyd on the carry, off the left side, and gets around the corner, but that's about it.

It might have picked up one yard.

I'm going to give him one

yard.

I can't tell.

Is that Tia with the tackle?

Is he in there?

Trent Tia?

His jersey is kind of wrinkled up.

Got

a nice tackle out there.

The courtboard shows third and five.

Following the 25 yard line, four 58 to go third quarter.

Boyd waits for the snap back to pass looking looking looking no one open He's gonna lob it over the middle and it's intercepted by Bowden Gilbertson Chipped it up in the air and then ran under it So this was number this is my staff 12 to 23 and it's intercepted

Big play by Bowden that time beautiful read that nicely

and quarterback was getting a rush, tried to drop it over top and Bowen made a nice play, tipped it to himself and picked it off.

So Hurley in good field position again on the 20-yard line.

I think coach Eddabin's got a few other plays up his sleeve now.

Heyman in the center flank by Gilbertson, is that offside then?

Chuck, how do you know it wasn't?

Oh, something happened.

There's a flag.

Probably a hold on Hurley in the backfield.

Hainan did all he could to get back up the line of scrimmage.

Yeah, it's holding on Hurley.

And I would think...

I'd take it, definitely.

Let's see if they're talking about it.

Taking it or yes there?

Holy that is the third penalty on Hurley.

Tricone has five penalties.

Christian

24 the North Stars.

Jack Snapp goes to Hayden, gives it up to Gilbertson looking for a running room and he's wrapped up.

We had a picked up No, I don't think you've picked up the art.

I know No game not real good blocking

on that place.

No, it wasn't

No

You tried to do a little misdirection.

Yeah, try counting wasn't buying it.

Nope

Oral eight to go here Again, we will have our smart choice of the game brought to you by Northwood Technical College in Ashland

You gotta think of one.

Something, something, something during this game.

I'm trying to... I got one.

Cotto back in shot confirmation.

Back to Bath.

He's got a guy out there and it's caught by...

Bilberson.

Or Christopherson.

I'm sorry, landed Christopherson.

Cotto

under a heavy

rush.

What was that down to the 5 yard line?

So

that was a... What was the ball on the... Ball was on the... 40?

Is

that a 35?

25 yard pass.

Another first down for Hurley.

By the passing row and they are in business again on the 4 yard line.

First and goal Hurley.

First and 4 from the 4.

Hean in.

Slips in the backfield and he's brought down.

I even lost a yard or two Try to split the defense there's two guys coming down on him and try to do a quick juke and lost his footing

Any game on that one around I think they went backwards today

Well, they're saying it's before maybe not.

All right, maybe he got back to lines coverage second and four going off the scoreboard

250 to go here third quarter As a handoff to There's losses in and he is in for the score Landon takes it the final four yards And with 239 to go here in the third quarter early put six more on the board

Early up 34 to nothing right now and if they get this two points now, is that a running clock there?

Or is it just in the fourth quarter?

It's got to be 35 points or more.

Yep.

No, it's second half.

Second half.

Okay.

That was what number, number five went for.

Nice little run.

Nice hole opened up for him and got in the end

zone.

Really will go for two.

They were successful in the first two tries and unsuccessful in the.

Oh,

nice cut.

That was a beautiful cutback that time

number four Nolan same.

Yeah That was a beautiful cutback

Yeah, I

thought

he was uh, I thought he was down Three yard lane.

Yeah, we'll step on step step back.

Yeah, you moving He opened up the hole.

They were the Red Sea parted at the

right

239 to go over here in the third corner, we'll take a quick, well there's no quick 30 second break, it's a 30 second break and come back with a release kickoff.

Play that 29 second commercial.

Free food, free ice cream, free entry into a drawing for up to $1,000 in chamber dollars, employee pricing on all in-stock new trucks,

up to $1,000 in chamber dollars with every vehicle purchase.

59.95 synthetic oil changes.

This is not a sale.

This is a can't miss event at Marthaler Honda Trade of Ashen.

We're just like the view.

The sale is superior.

All right, back here in early years, we are set.

Well, we're going to be set shortly as soon as early takes the field.

For Hurley's kickoff, back deep, for the Penguins is number two.

Demian Freeble and number 14 Israel Shumley that same cooker mm-hmm Westley Shilling It's been just flip kicking here.

Let's see what they do here and it's gonna be awesome It's gonna get up in the air a little bit.

Yeah taking them on the run by Freeble 40 cuts back looking for

Rumor on the left side and now wrapped up by number five Golden Gilbert.

Did you see that play by Landon though?

I was watching him the whole time just to see what other guys were doing on the kickoff.

He stayed home back at the 40 yard line here and just stood there and watched to see if he broke containment and then came up and made the play.

So of course it's coached that way, but he did an excellent

job.

Hurley does seem to be very well-fledged.

Yes.

Yep.

I love stuff like that when you watch this off the play sometimes and you see a kid just do the right job.

Because really if he cuts that back and he commits on that side, kid's gone.

And it's so easy to get sucked into that

action over there.

Yep.

See, I think we've got two guys going to meet each other in the backfield again.

Yep.

There's a flag yeah flag was above five.

It's 35 seconds late.

You call the penalty like a half hour ago Yeah, they got a lot of a lot of guys doing both moving at the same time.

Yeah,

well, they got a couple new guys in there at least one

Chumlee and Chumlee and Beggis again two running backs wind up as the wing backs headed on the collision course another penalty on Tricone

Excellent five.

That's their sixth penalty.

Oh, a reverse.

And... Chumlee's going to be wrapped up.

Back to the line of scrimmage.

Once again, Trent Tien with a nice tackle.

And no game for Chumlee.

Yeah, Wesley Shilling too.

Good basketball player Wesley Shilling is.

No game on the play.

And

the clock is running now, which it should be, and I think we're in running clock mode, even on dead balls, unless there's a timeout or a touchdown.

So second and 15, ball back on Triconi's 41.

And no, fake handoff, freeball keeps it, and he's wrapped up by six of the eight defenders.

That first initial hit was from Ian Han senior for Hurley.

I think that was no game.

It's still third and 15.

It's still 15 yards to go.

It's not still third and 15.

It's now third and 15.

It was second and 15.

I'll get it.

By mid-season, I'll have this all figured out again.

I figured, yeah.

Yeah.

I'm just letting you talk.

Yeah.

Well, that may be a problem.

You might have to take over here.

Nope.

My microphone's not working all right.

Yeah.

A lot of static.

Fribble high snap through a playoff, but it helped him.

I think it threw the defense off a little bit.

Yeah, that was the best run of the series is Fribble gets a ball, let's see, 11

on that carry.

What happened there, Hayden?

Yeah, he took a hard hit.

Yeah, Hayden made a real strong tackle on him, but I don't know if it was, he's getting up right away, so.

All

right.

Well, after the tackle, the quarterback was laying on the ground for a few minutes.

The coach came up, talking to the referees.

Freeble got up, walked off the field under his own power, but then they moved the ball back five yards.

I don't know what the five-yard penalty was.

I don't know.

I don't know.

They moved it back five yards for some reason after the play was dead.

So I Don't know does the coach have to be called on to the field.

Yeah, that one I don't know for sure A

Snap to freeball he took two steps forward dropped the ball and that threw the whole play off and then he was tackled We're not in the fourth quarter.

Well And he picked up

maybe one yard What is the first down on the marker over there though?

I'm not

all right

Wait a minute, no.

Wait a minute,

no.

Hurley's ball, they switched it over.

So

the penalty was on Hurley.

That's what that was.

The penalty was on Hurley, they moved it.

So after the clock hit zero, they switched sides and then they marked five yards off on Hurley.

That's what it was.

Okay, so Tri-County now, turn it over on Downs.

Let's back in Hurley's possession.

They went for a fourth down.

There's Hainan, breaks the tackle, looking to get outside.

Cannot turn the corner and picked up about seven yards.

Knocked out of bounds by Gage Beggs.

So that's what it

was.

Yeah, I was wondering why they moved.

Well, the rest didn't give any indication either.

No.

And it happened after the clock, after the quarter ended.

It looked, to me, it looked like apparently it was against...

Tri-Colony, and I couldn't figure out why.

Yeah, but it was against Hurley.

All right, second down and about seven.

I think he picked up three yards on that carry.

Must have stepped out earlier than when he got some of it.

Is he hanging it?

No, this is, uh, Gilbert's on the carry.

Gilbert says the ball's here right there.

Licked up a ball.

Maybe three yards, brings up it third and four.

I think we're going to start seeing some new...

Players in here now on the fourth quarter So try Tony only ran six plays in that fourth quarter.

Yeah, third quarter

Yeah, and that clock is running correct keeps running here in the fourth quarter

Yes, unless there's a time-old or something or an injury or a score This is lotser

And he's not gonna get the first down.

He might have picked up a yard.

They're gonna give him forward progress.

Mm-hmm.

That's gonna make it fourth and three Thirty six nothing We out front Let's see

Whichever you want to time out, we'll take a break as well.

9.20 to go here in the ballgame.

36 nothing early.

All right, back here in Hurley.

Fourth and three, Hurley.

Going for it on the try Tony 44 yard line pass out to the flat almost lost it.

Who's that?

Yeah,

that's a Wesley Schilling Wow

The

the juggling act

yes Pass came up to the right side show me was wide open Yeah, I think it maybe bounced off his shoulder pad

bounced off his shoulder pad his helmet that his shoulder pad again, then he caught it

He was

all alone in the pattern.

He made it look hard.

What was the yardage on that one?

From

the

34

down to the 13?

13 yards.

Third quarter triconi had five yards of total offense.

Here is a snap to what sir goes off left side puts his head down and you'll barrel forward for about three four yards

I like the way he did put his head down though.

That was a nice run.

Brand hard finished it off

What sir is a five ten hundred and sixty five pound junior?

Hurley just staying you know, I mean throwing a pass every well actually they if you look at it They have quite a few passes down there

I mean, they're very versatile.

Years ago, that would be a season's total.

Yeah.

For Hurley.

What are they at?

Thirteen?

Thirteen passes?

Yeah.

Yeah, that'd be a season's worth it.

Is a run off the left side of the Christopher City.

Okay.

It was...

It was like the defenders were looking for him because he stayed so low.

Picked up maybe, would you give him first down?

Well, game of seven, just wait for Chris to tell us.

There you go.

Third down in two.

That bounced back to the quarterback, but staying with it was Westley Shilling.

That was a one hopper.

And he picked up the first down.

He got four, he got five.

All on the ten yard line.

And really looking to put six more on the board.

Shilling now in that quarterback.

Shilling, stoppers in, and lots are in the backfield.

Snap goes to Shilling.

Straight ahead and he'll get down to close to the five yard line.

There's up a second and five.

They can get a first down.

We're at around the one yard

line.

Shelling comes out.

Number seven goes in.

Ryan Nyquist.

Junior.

See what they have in the backfield here.

Number one is in the ballgame.

Everett Lauren.

Yep.

Those young kids play.

You got time to do it now.

Lauren and Lotzer

in the backfield this is Lauren looking for

a room on the right side he's wrapped up like a pinball he's wrapped up like a pinball he's wrapped up like a pinball he's wrapped up like a pinball he's wrapped up like a pinball he's wrapped up like a pinball he's wrapped up like a pinball he's

wrapped

up like a pinball he's wrapped up like a pinball he's

wrapped up like a pinball he's wrapped up like

a pinball he's wrapped

up like a

pinball he's wrapped up like a pinball he's wrapped up like a pinball he's wrapped up like a pinball

he's wrapped up like a pinball he's wrapped up like a pinball he's wrapped up like a pinball he's wrapped up like a pinball he's wrapped up like a pinball he's wrapped up like a pinball he's wrapped up like a pinball he's wrapped up like a

pinball he's wrapped up like a pinball he's wrapped up like a pinball he's wrapped up like

Three ball inside the five yard line You got a first down right on the one yard line here obviously they're into four down territory

mm-hmm

All goes to Marin and number four is gonna be run back to the nine yard

line

Loss of five there?

Yes.

Number's up fourth and fourth in about eight for a first down.

Yeah, let's see what the call is going to be.

Are they going to go for Chilo?

I don't know.

They're shilling their kicker.

No, he's on kickoffs.

Really didn't punt, did

they?

They did not.

Troy County did twice

One went 14 yards

Mm-hmm And time they should have put that they didn't

right Probably because they punted 14 yards on the previous point Now the guy out there and

over shot.

Oh, yeah, did you see that?

Yeah, I saw it.

No, they didn't he was grabbing his jersey there in that corner

That was Lauren to that have been a flag Is that one to two?

Oh on the other side of the field.

There's a flag

Oh there, okay.

So that was Liam Hall out in the pass row.

Number one to number two.

What's the call?

Against Hurley.

Tricone declines it.

They will take over.

407 to go

here.

So even if they would have scored a touchdown, that would have been nullified.

Right.

Look at that defensive line in there now.

Yep.

Hurley up 36 to nothing right now.

4-0-7 left in this ball game on

695 pounds on that Hurley defensive

line.

Oh, geez.

Both Alvarez brothers are in there.

Noah is a junior and Aaron is a sophomore.

Give those kids, because they just came off the football.

Yeah.

Yeah, fantastic.

They played football before and

nothing wrong.

They're playing.

This is, uh, they started practice on a Tuesday, so this is their 14th day of football.

The interesting to see.

All right.

Well, we got a break.

We'll take a 30 second break here.

We're from our sponsors and we'll come back with the rest of the ball game here from Hurley back in 30.

All

right, back here in Hurley.

Well, Tricone's offense is ready.

Like

I said, big a defensive line.

Hurley still huddled around the questions now.

Say, well,

they got a lot to talk about.

All right, let's see what these new kids can do.

First in 10 for Tricone.

Pass across the arrow to the right side.

Incomplete, intended for number 14.

And that was

incomplete.

Only one completion for Tricone in this ballgame, and that was their very first pass.

Second in 10.

A lot of subs in right now for Hurley.

You got number 23 Jack Smith playing cornerback.

Pass across the middle and sixty-four.

I don't know if he was not looking for it or 23 undercut that ball nicely that time though.

Pass is intended for Reckon Urban.

Third and 10.

3-10 to go here in the ballgame.

Hurley comfortably out in front 36-0.

Of course, Tritone in two years has not scored on Hurley's defense.

Well, you just put the ax in that one.

Well, well,

the

heck.

Well, that's it.

Broadcasters jinx.

Tumley goes in motion.

Boyd looking to turn the corner on the right side and he is wrapped.

Oh, nice tackle that time.

There's a couple yards.

That tackled by Everett Lauren out there.

Nice job.

The momentum dropped down, the Zanglin pulled him down.

We're going to have to bring that up to Coach Eddie and let me come up here.

The techniques, the passing techniques, the discipline to stay home and certain, certain... Well,

Coach... March, very well coached defense, yeah.

All right, fourth and eighth.

Justin, plan against

linebacker.

Well that

was a direct snap to Boyd, and he may go the distance here.

No, wrap it up.

Oh, he fobbled it, and Hurley's going to recover.

Was he out of bounds?

I don't think so.

Wow, was that a saving tackle attack by Everett Lauren, chased him down.

Made the tackle, and it's going to be Hurley's ball.

He went 12 to the 30, so that was 38.

So he went 58 yards on that carry.

Who was on that tackle?

That was Everett Lauren.

Lauren, the tackle, knocked the ball out of Beggs' hand and then hurriedly recovered it.

Yeah, because he turned that corner and I thought he was gone for a minute there and then Lauren came out of nowhere.

Made a nice tackle and made any fumble.

I don't think he hit and caught either.

surprised that Lauren caught him because he had nothing but daylight in front of him.

Maybe I almost spoke too wrong about that.

You tried.

Yeah.

You tried.

So Hurley just getting pretty much run it out.

Beal on the ball.

Beggs went in motion and as he was in motion the snap came to him.

That is a timing

play.

Nice run nullified by the fumble.

You got to see that one on film though, because I don't know where ever Lauren came from.

Yeah, because it begs at one point now, one guy to beat.

Yeah, because Lauren plays left corner, so he must have saw the run come that way.

He came across midfield and he's just sprinting and chased the guy down.

What an effort, great effort.

I might have to look for an NFA just later tonight.

Yeah.

Or huddle, right?

It was on huddle, too.

All right, so Hurley will take over.

Great defensive play there.

Preserved the shutout, and all they need to run is about three plays here, and it'll be a victory.

I couldn't see him.

All I could see is a white and red hole there.

Yeah, Cranberry.

Cranberry, and 22, I think, on the carry.

Ending stir.

Christopher's with the ball carrier.

Bill Dain on the plate, second down at

10.

Christopher's in?

Are there two Christopher's?

I didn't see Christopher's in with the ball.

I was 22.

Well, I've been wrong before.

No.

Found the 40 seconds to go here.

Probably two more plays.

Something simple.

Just run the clock.

That was number 23 Jack Smith running that one.

Oh, we've got a flight going on here and we're gonna have a flag.

No, they're gonna keep the flags in the pocket.

Just a little talking to number not happy.

With the way Everett Lauren was probably still mad or and got the hurting back.

Yeah.

All right, do it.

Hurley doesn't have to run a play.

and the final score will be nearly 36 and Tri-County nothing.

Well

that's

quite a deck.

What a game I tell you, it's like it's over.

I mean it was over from the early playbill, they dominated this whole game.

They certainly did.

flying looking football team right now.

Yeah, convincing win.

A lot of guys touched the ball and I'm sure we'll come back with a little recap, maybe get the coach up here.

Oh yeah, we will.

All right.

So we will take a five minute break and give us a chance to get our stats organized and we'll get coach Edvin up here to talk to us about this game in more detail and we'll have all that in our post game.

We'll also have our smart choice to the game.

36-0, Hurley victorious.

We'll be back in five minutes.

All

right, back here in Hurley.

Final score tonight, Hurley 36 and Tri-County nothing.

It was pretty much all Hurley.

They scored on the third play of the ball game as Charlie Hainan went 54 yards for a touchdown run.

We're on the left side down the Tri-County.

Side lines put Hurley up 8-0 with a two-point conversion.

They forced Tritone into a 3-0 at the ball back and Max Cottle again hooking up with Charlie Hayden.

This time on a beautiful thrown 40-yard pass that Hayden took at the final 20 yards on his own and Hurley was up 16-0.

They never looked back.

They put two more scores on the board before halftime thanks in part to Tritone going for it on a

Fourth and long, late in the second quarter, gave Hurley excellent field position.

They took it 20 yards and 40 yards in 26 seconds, put Hurley up 28 to nothing and a half time, and then one score here with the running clock.

Once they hit 36, they went to a running clock, and time just flies by when they have a running clock and put ball.

There's not a lot of plays after that, but Hurley, my stats are right, and I think they are.

I believe TriKony ran.

10 plays in the second half They had five carries in the third quarter three carries in the fourth quarter and they had two passes that went incomplete so Only ten yard only ten plays for Tricone in this ballgame Joe are you just still working on your staff?

I'm pretty much there right now I had to use extra paper because there were extra subs and stuff like that So I had to go down to the bottom, but I'm pretty close to done here.

I

Passing in the second half.

It was they had five passes for 38 yards.

They also had that for the running attack not much I mean they really didn't run the ball great in the second half They had short field a couple times I got him 23 rushes for 49 yards in the second half and unless I missed one somewhere They didn't really rush as much Hainan only had a six yard.

Let's see.

What do we have in the second half?

He had a

Four carries for six yards.

They really bottled him up well, but the clock running running and

then they put some subs in there at the

end yeah in

that fourth quarter they they went with The subs a little bit.

Yeah, so in a 23 for 49 is what I got here and a lot of people got playing time It was good for the young kids.

Some of them got some playing time So, uh, yeah, it was a big victory for Hurley once again the final score 36 to nothing

Tri-County hasn't scored, like you said, well, you almost did the heck, but big victory for Hurley starting out the season.

So exciting.

Who does Hurley have next, just when we're chatting here a little bit?

Depends on where you live.

Okay.

Could be Leona Lubino.

It could be Lubino Leona.

All right.

What book you read?

You've got a fly flanner on here.

Lord of the Flies up here.

We'll forget the tack.

But no, it was a very dominating game by Hurley.

Trice County from the start was overmatched.

You could see that.

And they had a couple of nice plays, but overall Hurley's D. I don't even know what was... Do you have a total yardage for Trice County?

Yes, I do.

Okay.

You want me to catch him?

He's right there.

I'm just watching.

Okay.

Beggs, get the first name here.

I like to get the first name.

Gage Beggs had seven carries for 87 yards.

Quarterback, Damien Freebull had 12 carries for 34 yards.

Number 67 didn't carry in the second half at all on Mondo Garcia.

All his yards came in the first half.

He had seven carries for 10 yards.

Number 14, Chumlee, Israel Chumlee had three carries for seven yards.

And Sam Boyd came in and played quarterback at the end there.

and he had three carries for minus 11 yards 32 carries for tri-county 127 yards on offense there were one for seven in passing 23 yards total offense for tri-county 150 yards and we are joined now by coach Chris Edivine of the victorious Hurley North Stars and Chris why you have weapons yeah got a

lot of depth got a

lot of

skills

you asked you how many you're running guys in that backfield constantly and stuff like that and it doesn't matter who's got the ball and uh... you just got some talent back there

yeah uh... talent the kids put a lot of work in the soft season two uh... you know last year we were outmatched in some games bigger stronger uh... older little more experience and the kids took that part of summer

is this uh...

Direct snap is that is that new the show were you doing that last

year doing

that last year?

Were you doing that?

I know Jack Rowe was a quarterback last year and he was like he always had the ball in his hands But now you don't know who's getting the ball.

It's true reminds me a lot of the old monomony offense

Yeah, you know keep them on their toes, right?

Exactly.

Yeah, but you keep in the broadcasters on our toes, too Yeah, but that's that's good.

I mean I like I like last out there just a lot of talent and One of the things

that I was really noticing is your tackling skills

Those kids were making I mean they hit them to slow them down their momentum and dropped it on to their legs brought them down It was beautiful.

It's a big focus.

Yeah,

especially in eight-man football.

There's a lot more open field tackles I'm happy with what I'm seeing so far.

So Like I told coach Ergoni, I want to keep building on that.

Yeah Hopefully continue to have success.

But was that last play Everett Lauren was either one who caught the guy running downfield?

Yes He started at left corner didn't he over there?

Yeah

That was an effort play.

Wow.

We were sitting up here and I was like, where did he come from?

Because we thought for sure it was going to be a score.

We're like, oh no.

And then all of a sudden out of the blue there he comes and he gets a fumble and he gets a recovery.

So nice job there.

Yeah.

And another thing that we noticed during the course of the game was your guys, you teach this, stay home.

Look back at that the last kickoff you had begs got the I think was begs Maybe it was neighbors number two.

He came towards the early sideline and then he cut it that way But who was over there?

Oh,

yeah

Standing on the 40 yard line.

He was just watching the play and when it came to him He was there to make the tackle sometimes you can get sucked into that action

Yeah, it's you got to be disciplined to play that position

and you you stress that a lot.

Yes.

Yeah, you don't want to let that other corner other

If they get something in one cutback,

it's a game changer.

And that's what we noticed on that kickoff.

There was a couple other plays too where your defensive guys didn't bite on those crossing patterns and try calling you backfield.

You've got to be impressed with, I would think like eight guys touched the ball in your backfield.

Yeah.

I'm happy with everyone right now.

You know, obviously we'll watch film.

It's never as good as you think.

It never as bad as you

think.

I'm sure we'll find things we need to evaluate and work on and pull from there.

Well, it's a nice 36 nothing victory though.

Yes, yes it is and at home nice to open the season with a shout out against the quality opponent.

Yeah, you know, they're going to have success this year.

Yeah,

two quick strikes at Hainan one on a run 54 yard run third play of the game and then you come right back to them on a nice dude's we thrown pass by.

by Cottle and 16-nothing and you guys are in control.

Yeah.

That's the hope, right?

To get up early and control the game from there.

I was

surprised they went for it on fourth and long with 26 seconds to go.

We were sitting there talking.

You can't give Hurley the ball on the 40 yard

line.

They kind of gave you a gift there, but you took advantage of it.

That's the big thing.

You took advantage of it, but so what's up for you next?

So we have a will be no Leona coming up here.

So we'll get this film evaluated and All of our attention is gonna be focused on them.

So,

yeah,

two tough ones back-to-back.

Yes, two very tough ones right now.

It's focused on will be no Leona and We're able to looks the following week.

Yeah, both on Thursday nights couple Thursday night games to start the season.

Well, you know, no refs.

That's what I figured it was.

Yeah

Yeah, there's I mean, there's so many teams in the area and not enough reps but

Thursday and Friday will be popular games.

Yeah.

All right.

All right.

Thank you.

Great game.

Yeah.

Thank you coach.

Thank you.

All right.

Thank you coach for said of you know the victorious early North stars 36 nothing as they defeat try counting your record to one and old and try county falls to oh and one.

What else can we say about this game that has not been sent.

Not much you know this basically carry this momentum to the next game.

work on a few things like coach said you got to come out and you know this game's behind you now just get you know it's a victory but it's behind you got to get ready for your next opponent and that'll be quick it comes up quick just like this football season comes up

the one thing we were gonna talk about we didn't was the center snap

yeah

we were gonna bet

yeah but he's seen that enough so he's he's worked out and it seemed like he did because and it got better in the second second half it was much better so much better so well I enjoyed

the game tonight, a good victory, nice night to have football, decent crowd rolled in.

Yep, so we're going to take another one minute break and then we're going to come back with our smart choice of the game and we'll have that after this message.

Passion

for excellence, compassion for people.

You know, when it's 36-0 and there's a running clock in the second half, the smart choice of the game has to come early in the game.

We got to look back in the first half.

And I just think, Chris said they ran this a lot last year.

This offense, they're running with multiple guys in the backfield.

They can interchange it.

It's such a nice offense.

It's just their game plan, going into this ball game to mix things up.

and do that direct snap.

I like that.

You don't know who's getting the ball.

Defense can't key on just the quarterback because he may not get the ball.

And they're just running that very good right now.

Try Tony.

Probably not one of the more powerful teams they're going to play this year.

We'll see how this works out next week for them and Phillips.

But that's our smart choice with the game.

The game

plan.

The game plan was great.

So we'll give it to the whole team.

That's what it was.

Coaches and team.

Yes.

Coaches for calling it players for running it executing.

Yeah, looks like Chris missed the bus back to school.

So he's not the lock.

Yeah.

Well, yeah, it's okay.

Yeah, he's young.

Yeah, young man.

All right.

Taking on the Geelik miners That will do it again final score tonight early 36 try Tony nothing for Luke doing a great job back at can't

say enough

about him If it wasn't for Luke, we would not even be on the air.

Yep.

Thank you Yep, and for Joe a great doing our first football game together.

And now let's go out for all the exciting action of high school sports.

Good afternoon football fans.

It's high school football time again as Wisconsin kicks off the 26th football season.

I'm Rod Helversen and joining me this afternoon from Hurley, Joe Rimkes.

Well, good afternoon.

How you doing today, Rod?

Doing good.

Doing good.

It came on quick, didn't

it?

Boy, it sure did.

We did the border bash in early June, and we thought we had a whole long time before football started.

And boy, here we are at Bedham's Memorial Field already.

But like I said, I'd rather do a game on a warm August afternoon.

than a chilly November evening.

Yeah, it is a beautiful afternoon.

Got a little bit of rain earlier, not much, but the forecast does call for it later on tonight.

Hopefully we get through this game without any and

we'll see what happens.

Yeah, crowd is still filing in.

We got about 15 minutes for a kickoff.

Few fans made their way up from Plainfield, Wisconsin, which is about half hour south of Stevens Point, over north of Madison.

So it is a long ride.

There's a few fans there and there's still time to go before we kick off.

Yeah, I'm looking at their bus over there.

That's a luxury bus that they drove up there.

Yeah, they sure come in style, don't

they?

They

do.

They look like a St.

Matt football, and I'm just trying to count the players they have over there.

It looks like they have about 20 players.

Looks like it.

Yeah.

We should mention who's here, by the way.

Yeah, yeah.

Early taking on Tri Coney on a playing field Wisconsin.

This is the team that beat last year and we're on one of the playoffs.

And if I remember correctly the, even though it's last year, you can still talk about it, they were the only road team to win in the eight man tournament that week.

And I think they were the only team to have a shutout in eight man.

So I'm sure Tri-County remembers that.

They graduated their top two players as Hurley also had some graduation losses.

So I'm sort of Tri-County, probably circled this one on the schedule right away and said, we're going to look for revenge up there in Hurley.

Hopefully they don't get it.

Right.

And it's like I said, it is a beautiful night for football.

Hurley's got a good group of kids.

I mean, it looks like at least 30 of them out there.

And it's going to be an interesting football game, Rod.

I think today's going to be a little bit of the jitters getting out of them first because they start off, you know, usually get out there and have a little jitters.

But once they settle down, it's going to be a good football game.

Yeah, and at this point, being the first game of the season, they suited up everybody in the program.

There's a lot of freshman and soft ones out there.

Whether or not they'll see playing time, we don't know.

Gotcha.

I think that's the same on both sides.

I was talking to the coach from Tri-County earlier as he came onto the field.

And I remember last year's game, their backup quarterback was, I believe his first name was Julian.

I think it was Julian Vega.

And I was expecting to see him tonight.

because he got a little bit of playing time I thought last year, but he moved away.

He transferred to Berlin High School, so coach said yeah, he was kind of a big boss for them in the football program, but you know, this is something you deal with as a coach and right next man up basically.

Well, the coach's name, I like his name, Dallas Topper.

Yes, I like that name.

I even like the kid that's playing quarterback for them Chevy Hulk

Yeah, yeah, they got some real cool names down there.

You know, yes

Yeah, we might struggle with some of these games as we get through there.

Yeah, we'll touch on them as we go through it So they're gonna have Damian freeball at quarterback.

He is a Junior and we don't have any heights or weights I did manage to grab two heights and weights off with max prep.

So I have three guys that I know mm-hmm

How big they are and those are probably the guys that you'll hear more of tonight as the game goes on but Exciting

well it is football is always exciting this time of year everybody loves football college is gonna start pretty soon pros are starting and high school is also starting and You know you wait and wait till this time of year and everybody's excited about it, but then then you think about what's going on

coming later on, you know, and when we get halfway through the season and we get those little snowflakes coming through, but that's all right.

We bear with it up here in the North, right?

Right.

These first games are interesting because these kids have been, well, they had scrimmage last Friday down in Wassa Newman, but scrimmage is just the, it's no more than a glorious practice in a way.

There's some hitting, but you're playing against different, different faces for a while.

But for the last two and a half weeks, basically they've been going at it with each other.

And I'm sure they're excited now to go up against opponents from a different school.

Yeah, definitely.

And like you said, some of the teams don't even have enough.

They have 12 players, and we were talking about that this morning a little bit on the sports show.

And that's got to be hard to practice when you only have 12 guys.

You've got eight against four.

What do you do?

How do you get the practice in?

And then you also talked a little bit about some of the schools that possibly dropped out or did drop out.

Gillet dropped to a JV program.

Gillet is down close.

If you don't know where it is, it's down near Shawna, a little bit north of Shawna, in between Shawna and Pulaski.

They dropped, which helped Ironwood because Ironwood was then, they picked up Florence.

Because Florence had an opening already with, they were supposed to play Gillet I guess next week, so now they will play Ironwood.

And then I found out last night that Elko White Lake, who's in this conference,

is also going to a JV program.

So that's going to throw this whole schedule into a tizzy here.

These athletic directors now have to scramble because since it's a conference

team, it's going to affect everybody.

Right, right.

And conference games mean the most, of course, you know, and they're not going to have the Hurley Ironwood game this year you were talking about.

You said that one will not be played.

It's, yeah, that's,

well, you know, here's a scenario.

So Hurley, Hurley was supposed to play Elko on the 18th of September.

That's the same night that Ironwood is playing Antonoghan.

If Hurley can finagle, no, Ironwood, no, how would they do that?

Hurley, Ironwood's already committed to Antonoghan.

No, I guess... I was thinking if Ironwood could scramble their...

Schedule but they can't after yeah after the first week because that would be their their non-conference game So Hurley's gonna be looking for someone to play and it's gonna be bad if they don't find anybody because they have an eight game schedule as it is If they don't find an opponent for that September 18th That gives them seven games only.

Yeah, and doesn't it take six to get you into the playoffs?

Yes, so six wins to get into the playoffs.

So you pretty much got to play air-free ball

for six games.

And I heard Sol and Springs also went to a GV or they may have dropped football altogether.

So there are some opportunities for Hurley.

Like look at Sol and schedule and see who they were playing on the 18th of September and stuff like that.

So it'll be a juggling act for Hurley administration to try to.

find a spot.

It's going to be hard because that's in week four.

Oh, right.

Yeah.

It's coming up quick, but we'll see.

The sun is out.

It's nice because it wasn't pouring in Vesma, but it was a steady rain.

Yeah.

I saw when I was looking outside, it was raining a little bit, but right now, perfect football weather tonight, folks.

Come on out to Memorial Field and in Hurley and enjoy some good football action.

Hurley's opener tonight, taking on Tri-County.

So it should be very exciting, Rod.

Yeah, Tri-County Penguins, coached by Dallas Topper, and really coached by Chris Edivine.

Tri-County, part of the Central Wisconsin 8th Conference.

Hurley is in the Northwood East Conference, and I know you're out there asking, well, who's in that conference?

I will tell you.

Central Wisconsin 8th, Almond Bancroft.

Bowler Gresham.

Minong Tigerton.

Manamini Nation, Port Edwards, Rashalt, Tri-County and Wild Rose.

For the Northwood East at Hurley's Inn, they have some teams move around in there and they have Shawamigan, Elko, White Lake, well they don't have them no more.

They went to JV as I just said, Hurley, Phillips, Prentiss, Rib Lake, Three Lakes, Phelps, and Wabino Leona or Leona Wabino, whichever you prefer.

That

depends on what town you live in.

You know, Joe, this is one of the best fight songs in America.

It is.

It's a Notre Dame fight song, too.

It happens to be.

Yeah, I didn't realize that.

Oh, yeah.

I can understand that.

Yeah, it is a good fight song, though.

Hopefully you hear it a lot tonight.

Probably will.

I mean, a lot of points for Hurley.

So they play the fight song.

Captains are out at midfield.

They're getting ready to talk it to the reps there and getting ready for the coin toss.

All right, let's see who's going to...

See what they're going to call out there.

Looks like they're going to tell you when the toss.

Well, they're talking to Hurley, aren't they?

Yeah, they're wondering which way they want to defend.

Maybe I'm not sure.

We'll see who's going to get the opening kickoff

in about five minutes.

Still hasn't decided.

We're watching a referee for a signal.

Maybe it's like that Pittsburgh Steeler game, remember?

All right, here we go.

Here comes the signal from...

Early is going to receive well

there get the ball first at home

I would say then that try county probably won the toss and deferred.

Yeah, they could have safe move.

Yeah But yeah early gets the ball first and we're about What is it four minutes away four and a half minutes away?

Did you want to take a quick break?

Yeah, let's do that.

We'll come back in about three minutes and we'll probably Have the national anthem about that time and we'll be set for kickoff here from veterans Memorial Field

Tri Tony Penguin is taking on the early North Stars.

We'll be back in three minutes.

All right, back here at Veterans Memorial Field in Hurley as we are about less than a minute to go here before the opening kickoff to kick out the season.

Other games going on of interest of somewhat local teams.

Shawam again is at Bruce, Gilman is at Phillips, Cornell is at Real Blake, and Siren is at Washburn.

15 other eight man games going on tonight.

16 on Friday and two on Saturday.

full weekend of football.

That flag is blowing quite.

What's the word?

A lot.

I think I got it gauged at about seven miles an hour.

Yeah, just enough to make it move.

Should help the passing game going towards the north end zone.

Certainly help the punning game as they kick up in the jet stream.

What a perfect night though.

Nice breeze out there and Joe you have the referees somewhere.

I wrote them down for you.

Do you

remember where

I

put them?

Let's see what I got here referees tonight are Mike Schwartz senior Paul Cooler Jorakovic Jay Buggie Ayala John Ayala them are your referees, but then I miss oh and Mike Schwartz junior to all those quotations

I was trying to save my

ink.

Oh, I got you.

That's why I got a pencil

Plus, I make a lot of mistakes.

I'm just a new stat sheet.

Joe, this

is our first football game.

I know, I'm excited.

Yes!

All right, good to be here with you.

Number 23 has a teed-up.

That is Gage Beggs.

I saw a lot of him last year.

He was the other running back for the Benglans.

Here's the run-up and a kick, and it's a low-line drive.

It's going to be taken by Heynett about the

15 yard line, gets to 30, cuts around looking for the corner, he's at the 30, 35 and finally run out of bounds at about the 37 yard line.

Nice return by Hayden, came up the early sideline and cut it way over to the Trinconi sideline.

And you can see how quick he is again this year, just his speed last year was crazy, I mean he gets that corner and if they don't have him then he'll turn up that corner and go.

So it's first in ten north stars on their own 37 yard line Just on your way here glad you could join us Yeah, let's see.

It's gonna be max coddle at quarterback We're number 33 he's gonna go out the shop done.

I believe that's coddle 33 is it?

Yes, it is These five positive yarders picked up five yards, I believe

So you're down here in the first quarter area first quarter.

Yeah, 33 and five

those

learning how to take stats.

Yeah, we'll be talking a lot

Yeah, nice game on first down second and five

Cotto's gonna go the shot done and let's see.

Well, I could go there.

Oh, yeah, I was just gonna see three was back there budding Gilberton also back Lined up alongside Cotto and he got the direct snap

So Gilbertson gonna pick up about let's see where they're gonna mark it.

I'd say four yards

Number

three he's number three

I'll

get there yep Third and one ball on the Hurley 46 yard line Three guys in the backfield now

This one goes to wrist that goes directly to Hainan.

He's got a he's off the races and you don't not catch Charlie and he will take it the distance They had three guys lined up each who stopped it went to either one it went to Hainan.

He pretty much went on touch for a 54 yard touchdown run

with 10.35 to go in the first quarter.

Hurley is on the board quickly.

That's what we were talking about.

He gets breaks.

One line of containment there.

He's usually gone.

He did that last year.

So many times we watched him and he would break long runs.

He is quick.

I expect Hurley

to go for two here as they have in the past for many, many years.

Carter lined up in the shot confirmation.

He's got Gordon Gilbertson right off his end.

The ball is going to go right to Gilbertson and then he looks like he's going to cross into the end zone two-point conversion.

Good with 10-35 to go.

You don't have to worry about that.

10-35 to go first quarter.

It's Hurley eight and Tri-County nothing.

We'll

be back in 30 seconds.

Yes, and not a bad offense,

though.

Hurley, Justin, they're black uniforms with orange numerals and orange helmets.

Tri-Cony.

Alright, what'd we figure out?

Those cranberry colored pans?

I

think

it is cranberry.

That's what I'd go with.

White jerseys and black numerals.

And number 12 has the ball teed up.

That is Westley-Shilly.

We don't have sizes on the Lava Tony guys, except for our gauge bags.

Yeah, there's a couple big guys on there, but... Oh, that was

a... Don't see that

happen very often.

They still have to down it.

Yeah.

Oh, they're going to call off.

Okay, what happened was he barely touched the ball.

So did he just miss it?

Is it a penalty?

Is it offside on

Hurley?

He drew a flag, so I think it's a five-yard penalty and he got a kick over, I think, because he got the P out there yet.

Did you notice that nobody from Hurley touched that ball?

Right.

Tony could have went and picked that ball up and gone for a touchdown.

Although there was a penalty called.

What's the penalty though?

Did they call offside?

It had to be.

I think they... So they must have had the option to decline the penalty and get the ball

where it

was dead.

I haven't seen

that ever

happen.

I haven't either.

The ball went what?

Not even a yard.

No.

He just whiffed on it.

He

looked like

one of my kickoffs.

He's up second in

10.

Quarterback is, is it number two?

I was told it was number two.

Yep, Damian.

Hey man free bill Yeah, I think you'll hear a lot of cage begs so you can tell him begs as the ball.

He's got the Neal colored shoes and he's got the ball now try to turn the corner and we're gonna have a penalty This could be holding on tri-county.

Yeah, he begs You've got that right rod the official already show holding on that end so

Hurley might take the play though and push them back give him make it third and 12 or Make it third and fourth

2nd and 12, 3rd and 8, what are they going to do here?

They're going to back them up, yep.

Tritone holding penalty, they'll cost them 10 yards.

The ball back to midfield now, so Tritone is facing a 2nd and 19, 9.52 to go here in the first quarter.

Beautiful afternoon now, once that Sunday came out again.

Wonderful.

Rebuild in the shotgun formation.

Long count.

Rebuild is going to take it himself.

He's got the running backs up there for blocking.

Turns the corner and then knocked out a bounce.

He got back maybe to the original line of scrimmage.

Had a good bunch of blockers in front of him.

I'm going to give him 10 yards.

He's back at the original line of

scrimmage.

Third and

10 ball on the Hurley

40 yard line.

Yeah, Charlie Hainan knocked about a bones, but good game there

People will line up in the shotgun he's got bags off to his Left in here is a end up to bags looking for the corner and he will not even get back to the line of scrimmage getting in there for Hurley All right, yep

So, Beggs loses three.

Well, he shot that gap quick.

He sure did.

It's almost like he knew that play was coming.

Probably

saw that play last year.

Yeah.

I would expect a punt here.

Fourth and twelve from the early forty-two yard line.

It'd probably be smart

to

pit him back a little

bit.

With the

wind, they could probably get a decent punt here, but they don't look like they're going to bump formation.

No, they're at this point.

Looks like they're going to go for it.

And it's going to be a fumble and recovered by Hurley.

On the ball for Hurley there, Rod.

It is number 12.

So

67.

No

gain on the carry and

he fumbled.

And who did you see?

Wesley Schilling got the recovery.

What number is he?

Number 12.

Yep.

Alright, so Hurley in good field position.

Better start than last week, or last last week.

Last series.

Low snap, but Gilbertson picked it off the ground and first time I picked up ten yards

on that one.

Very nice carry that

time.

Mark of first down rushing right here.

Oh, okay Near the wind coming into the press box, but we got the windows open because it puts a nice warm breeze first in 10 early on the tri-county 46 yard line And that goes to number five and he almost broke it for a touchdown that was land interest opposite But Joe on these first couple plays early has a lot of weapons

they do they have a lot of weapons and

The snap is low, but they picked up all up nice and they're doing a great job of gaining some yardage.

What was that that time seven

seven?

Yes Second and second and three Rick snapped a hand and he turns the corner.

Can you break the tackle?

No, but he will get the first down and he is buried under a sea of white But another first down for Hanna.

Let's see from the

It was in the 39 down to

the 10

yards he picked up.

Yeah

And they'll be a

run and there'll be another first down

for

them.

Okay first in 10 early on the tri-county 30 Now caught a good moves into a tight end position so they're moving the guys all around here

Back snap who's this one going to go to go to Hain and he adds it off to Gilbertson and he'll pick up positive yardage I'd give him three yards on that carry Oh, I can smell those burgers coming.

Oh, can I yeah, I thought the wind was

blowing that way.

Yeah, it's blowing very fast bringing it right over here.

Yes, well good three yard gain right there

Who's in the backfield now?

Is it Shilin?

Hainan Gilbertson and Shilin, yeah

And all coddles in the backfield and Schilling moves to tight ends.

They're really mixing it up.

And up to Hainan looking for the corner.

And there he is.

I think I saw a flag.

Yes, I did see a flag.

They got a hold on that end.

Yep.

Yep, I think they got a hold on that end.

This could be holding on Hurley,

you

think.

Probably a safe call.

A safe prediction, I should say.

I'm gonna say he's gonna take this penalty.

I

would.

Yeah, no discussion there.

I'm

gonna say we'll decline and get the ball back.

Yeah,

yeah.

Beautiful run by Hayden though, but yeah, there was holding on that left side, so brings the ball back.

Ten yard penalty, Rod.

All right, so it'll be first in 20 now for, well, scoreboard chose first in 19.

Second and nineteen are there This is coddle back to pass he's got a guy out there overshot Hainan Hainan at

510 Need

to be probably around 6-2 to catch that pass Mm-hmm Then you go pass would be number 33 to 21 and mark in the eye underneath it

Incomplete.

Okay, so that's how that works.

Okay.

Now I got you.

Now we're ready to rock.

Yep.

Early leading right now, eight to nothing here in the first quarter.

642 to go.

Third down.

And 19.

Let's see what the call is here.

Little snap goes to Kotl.

It's got a guy out there.

Oh!

wide open was landing Christopherson I don't know if he would have got the first down but he overshot him he let him a little bit too much

yeah he's rolling to a strong side too in the past doesn't look good right now it's very wobbly and like he's a little not setting himself anxious maybe a little anxious but now a long way to go on fourth down I think they're gonna punt probably I would

well let's see balls on the 39-yard line

They could back them up around the ten yard lane.

It looks like they're going to go for it.

Cottle and Gilbertson, I believe in the backfield.

Low snap.

Cottle grabs it out the ground and almost intercepted.

That was intended for Kristofferson.

Falls incomplete.

Yeah, that went incomplete.

They'll take over on downs on their own 39 yard line.

I guess he figured, Brad, that Hurley's defense is playing strong, so if they give him to the ball decent field position, they'll hold him.

Yeah, based on that first series.

So Tri-County takes over, ball's on their own 39 yard, and then we've got 6-31 to go first quarter, 8-0 in Hurley.

You could join us for first of many high school football games this fall.

We have two next week.

People looking for a rumor on the left side guy guys on the front of on breaks a tackle and carries a couple guys Auto balls.

He picked up nine yards on that Carry that was number two for nine.

Yep Landon Kristofferson and Hanan with the tackle but not before he gained nine yards buddy

the number 67 for them Armando Garcia again, we don't have weights on these good size kid.

He lines up As a wing back on the right side and then he comes across in front of

Freeball and leaves the blocking.

Yeah, nice call by a nice setup by Tricone So second and about one maybe two this goes to begs looking for rumor on the left right side He broke a tackle and he will pick up the first down.

Well, it looks like a totally different offense now.

Yeah Well, they they're running outside and they're having that big boy block of the way and now that tackle that time by Christopherson, but still

Too many yards game right

there.

Five.

Five, I'll give him nine yards on that carry.

Picks up a first down, new set of downs for the penguins.

Those teal colored shoes really stand out, don't they?

They do.

First 10-10, Beggs goes in motion.

Free roll looking for blocking and Hurley had that one read pretty

well.

A couple guys got around their blocks and got back to Freiburg.

I think he was dropped for no game.

Yeah,

Landon Christopherson and Trent Tiaw have got the tackles there.

But did you notice Bowden-Gilberston kind of gave himself up?

He blasted through there, he just dove and took all two blockers.

That had to be a tough spot for him.

Two big guys like that coming at you.

Checking in at Noseguard for Hurley, number 85.

Touch on him after this play.

Ron, that's a middle by the big guy, Armando Garcia, and he is close to a first down.

Let's see, did he get there?

No, he did not get there.

He's about a yard, two yards short.

I'll give him seven yards.

Noah Alvarez checked in, six, eight, three, 15 nose guards.

Yeah.

Well, Hayden and Kristofferson with the tackle, but he gained eight yards, like you said.

And is it third down?

Third and... third and two?

Freeble and off to always hit the right now

backfield.

That is the big guy

Garcia.

He blew right through there that time that was That was Owen Neemey blowing through the hole right there And you have to hit him low.

Yeah.

Yep

Checking back in Liam Hall will go back at nose guard and Alvarez will have a seat on the bench

Here is fourth and two and I don't think he got there.

No, this is going to be close.

It was a keeper by free ball.

Yep needed to get to both of just inside the 40 on the early side of the 40 and he did not make it no good defense by The

North Stars.

Yeah, Coski did a nice job Hainan did a nice job and he almost broke free a little bit on that second effort But they held on and pulled it down

So maybe a yard game there, but short of the first half.

So Hurley takes over.

All right, touchdown Noah Elver is playing football.

This is his 14th day of football.

Yeah.

He's never played football before.

Really?

6'8", 3'15".

His little brother.

The 6'10", 3'80".

His little brother.

Just Kyle on a keeper.

He's gonna pick up around 7.

Almost running hard, you know, he's been dealing with leg surgeries and lit

knee

injuries and good to see him out there.

Very good

senior

Yeah, you gotta gotta be happy for him

Recognize

that name from basketball.

His grandpa was a longtime basketball coach in you and Choke Creek The Bocato third second and three This is Gilbert's in he's gonna

Yeah, he's going to be close to the first down.

I don't know if he got it.

He needed three.

He might have got, see where they spot it.

They're saying a little bit short.

No, they're saying first

down.

Well, give them three yards and another first down, Joe.

I did, and they moved the chains.

Checking in, Liam Hall.

Checking out, Bowden or Landon Christopherson.

Try to touch on these linemen if we can.

Oh, and Nimi is the center.

Is that 53?

Yes, I think it is 53.

Give them some airtime.

Hainan?

Wrapped up in the backfield, could not turn around the corner, give Bimean Fribol the Tricone quarterback credit for Busty to them breaking that up.

Yeah, no gain that time.

You know, one thing I've noticed Rod, and maybe it's early season yet, but that snap's got to get up higher.

But 90% of his snaps are low.

They're all coming off the ground.

Yep.

And that slows everything down.

Yes.

Because the guy catchy and the guy back there has to look down.

So that was, this you give the lost to the running back.

And

that'll bring up third and 16.

Well, Tritone's defense has settled down after that first series.

Cottle back to pass.

He's got time.

He's going to air it out there.

He's got Hayden wide open.

It's a foot race.

Tri-counting nothing.

Healthcare is a lot of things, but the best

care

is human.

Aspirous Health.

What we see is you.

All right.

Back here in early June, I just took a drink out of your second bottle of water, if you don't mind.

Yeah, I'm not thirsty.

I'm thinking of

you.

All right, all right another nice drive by the North Stars Yeah, that was

a

beautiful

pass right on the money

the key to that one was getting given caught all time in the backfield to let Hainan get loose behind the defense and He did it was a perfect pass to Hainan over the shoulder catch

Well, let's see what this kickoff does

Yeah, is this the same guy kicking off?

Got to keep his head down this time.

He picked up his head.

I think Kind of like that golf swing

Shilling with the run up and let's see Much better kick little squibber goes to bags at about the 34 yard line and he's gonna be run out of bounds at about the Tri-County 44 return to about 10 yards Now they're gonna market at the 38 right in front of where I'm standing Tri-County heading towards the north end zone think

it's the 43 but

42, that's what I meant to say.

So I'm here, even though it's right in front of

me, I still... Yeah, right in front of me.

Yeah, well, the eyesight's not what it used to be.

First and 10 penguins.

Free ball, one in the backfield.

And it looks like they're going to pass it.

A little spasso to Beggs, and he breaks a tackle, and now caught from behind, but not until he picks up.

5-10, 15-20, I'll give him 21 yards on that play.

Yeah, Hayden came back to make the tackle, but nice looking play there for the Tri-County.

Quickly in the Hurley Territory, now at the 37-yard lane.

Well, they were there before and they spoiled all.

Yep.

Leibold alone in the backfield, he's got wing backs.

Well, I don't know the bags will go in motion and we got

too much movement

Motion by Tricone I'll back

them up five Why that's something that hurts too when you get a penalty like that You just got a nice play and then get a five yard penalty to move the ball back Drives the coach nuts.

Yes, we're down to a minute and 14 to go here in quarter number one Ball no

Back on the nearly 42 yard line first and 15 People at the shotgun takes it to begs.

So we'll right go tries to move on corner and he's upended nice tackle Tackle by Gilbertson

Christopher, so I think

Oh, yeah five is Christopher.

See what did he get there?

Well game, thank you.

I'll

wait long enough.

Yep.

I think they got binoculars down there, though.

Well, they have three guys on that

set, and

they only have two on this set, so they have more.

They have six eyes.

Second and 11 as Freebowl looks to turn the corner, and he is not going to do that.

Wow.

He's wrapped

up.

Excellent play that time by Marshall Lotzer.

That big guy was coming right out of him.

He came off his block and boom, brought him down.

Nice job.

Logan on that play as well.

Offence has stalled, defense has stepped

up.

That probably was the last play of the first quarter as the clock is down to double zeros and that will do it for quarter number one We'll take a one-minute break early 16 and try counting nothing.

We'll be back in one minute

All right, back here in Hurley as we are in between quarter one and two, Hurley up in front, 16 to nothing, and Tritone facing a third and 11 at the Hurley 38 yard line.

Yeah, let's take a sneak peek here.

I'll tell the stats are going.

So you go

Okay, you want to put his carries

and then here yards.

Yeah, okay.

Yeah, this is what I did right here Just like that beautiful and you can just We're gonna have a smart choice of the game this season and I'll read a little live ad here as we're waiting for the start of the second quarter the smart choice of the game is wrapped to you by Northwood Technical College and if you are looking to make a smart choice in your future, please consider

contacting the great folks at Northwood Technical College and make a plan for your future.

Northwood Technical College is located on Beezer Avenue in Aston, right across from the hospital right next door to Aston High School.

We are back to action here as we start quarter number two.

Free will back to pass under a heavy rush and ball partially tipped could be intercepted and well almost intercepted but give Gage Begg's credit for knocking that ball out of Kristofferson's hands.

as Landon had the better chance of catching it once it was tipped by the onrushing defender.

I'll bring up a huge fourth and two now for the Penguins on the early 38 yard line.

So the smart choice of the game, Joe, as we watch this game, what play had a major effect on the flow of this ball game.

That's what we're looking for the 60-yard touchdown so far well so far.

Yes Freeball back to pass has time has time now.

He's got a roll out to his right and he is gonna Oh, I think he picked up the first down by no, they're saying he went out at the 42.

He's like two inches short

Now he's ten yards short because it was fourth and 12 I knew that It's early in the season you got to have these mistakes early

The season.

I think I'm more worried about what you're taking.

You are, I think.

You're looking over here, yes.

Don't even... Nothing to see here, Ron.

Nothing to see here.

That's all right.

No, it's the first game of the year.

You're looking around, trying to teach me a little bit too.

It's enough, so no worries.

Gilbertson carried for... Three yards?

Early's first possession here in the second quarter and I got a mark down the last run by Try

Tony Just a quick little thing on the first quarter every player carried three times except one So it's pretty good distribution there.

Yes

Bowden Gilbertson with a big hole up and he's gonna be close to the first down

real close this is right in my line of vision but I'm gonna say half a yard short maybe yeah

I think you're right on there buddy yep yep half a yard short oh the big guy came in 95 come in at no tackle yep

yeah they have some beef on that defensive line right now

there's

one ball on the early 46 yard line 40

Yeah, 46 yard line low snap coddle.

He got a guy wide open and the pass is caught by Leslie shilling The what are they calling down there

bumble?

We're covered by try counting mm-hmm.

I took my off the way to see who caught the pass Yeah, you came from behind and swung at the ball and knocked it out

All right, so the passes complete give him a completion for From the 46 down to about the 20 I think is where he fumbled it so 30 probably 34 yard pass And then shilling with the fumble so try county that was gauge bags on defense wasn't it knock the ball out

People looking for a rumor on the corner.

Oh, no, he cuts it back But he's wrapped up by the linebackers that came in he he got around the on rushing defense aligned with the linebackers were right there

So I just keep going here with the pass.

Yeah, okay.

Yeah.

All right

That was a good play defensively from Tri-County because otherwise They had first and

10 at the 20

Second and

Make sure I get this right now second and nine ball on their own their own 19 yard line

Free

ball Quick pitch out to begs he break the tackle and he's still going

cool a flag up play

up play came

in

They just gonna pick up the first down.

I believe but let's see Where the flag was so might be a spot falls and another holding call

Holding on tricone.

Well, that's why he broke that tackle, right?

Yeah That's gonna back them up

And

so it's gonna push them back to where back to the 17

Yeah

Second and 14 to go.

Yeah

right around the

15

airline but work Trying to find his name again.

I just had it work tea on him And he made the tackle

And up up the middle.

I believe that went to Garcia As soon he gets up.

Yes, that was Garcia.

He didn't get very much I'll give him maybe a yard

There's

up a

3rd and 13 Joe.

It's not 3rd and 3 now.

It's 3rd and 13.

Oh, you just did it once.

I hope Marissa didn't mark that as a mistake.

She did.

Yeah, probably, probably.

All right.

Here we go.

Gribble on it.

Keep her.

And it was a delayed pitch.

Oh, too big.

And Hayden

read

it.

Almost grabbed it in midair.

You would have scored.

Is that a bumble, though?

No.

It's not a fumble.

Is it a forward pass?

It depends on, well, they're looking at it right now, right?

Because if it went forward, right?

But if it went

backwards,

it's Hurley's ball.

Right.

Well, I can't tell from this angle.

Right, it's a hard angle.

Okay, it was a fumble.

Yep.

There was a neat little trick play by Hayden and did an excellent job of reading that one.

He almost picked it off.

Well, a little trickery there for Tri-County, but it didn't work.

Charlie Hayden with the recovery.

And Hurley's an excellent field position now on the Tri-Cony 15 yard line.

This is Cottle on a keeper looking for rumor on the left side.

He is going to be wrapped up and pushed out of bounds by Beggs.

I think he lost the yard.

Yeah, it might have been more in the yard then.

Chain game moves way back, but not way back.

Backed up about

two yards, so making a second and 12.

Looks like he should have cut that one inside right away.

Put that foot down and cut inside.

Yeah, he was thinking we'll turn that corner.

No.

Coddle in the shotgun, direct snap goes to Gilbertson.

Another

flag down.

Now let's see what this call is.

Marshall Watson in the backfield with Cottle.

Again, the low snap just throws that playoff.

Yeah, that's one thing you're going to have to work on.

Pass thrown to Haynes is incomplete.

Yeah,

he's picking it up off the ground every time

so far.

53 is in there, that's Owen Neemey.

What else is in the line?

Number 9 is 9 in it, Trent T. John.

He's one of the linemen and see if we can pick up the other linemen.

27?

Yeah, you got, I think that's Gavin Koski.

Yeah,

those are your linemen.

And you also have Trent T. John.

Cottle in the shotgun, they're all afternoon and here's a

A little reverse to Hainan looking for a room and he's going to be wrapped up.

Picked up some yardage but it's going to be well short of the first down.

I'd give him maybe four yards on that one.

He's

up fourth in about 13 I would say.

Well do they have a kicker?

Well the one who kicked off right?

He had a rough kick off but he did.

Boots the second one.

I'm sure he just wanted to make contact on the second one.

He probably felt a little nervous there.

So

who knows?

Looks like they got RRT on in the bullpen.

Yeah.

Wiffing on his snaps.

So he might be coming into play center.

Fourth and long.

Connell rolling out to his right.

Looking for a guy.

He's got a guy out there but just under shot him and that was early Hainan.

Had the guy beat in the corner of the end

zone.

Balls in complete.

And Chaitanya will take over.

So

I'll

tell you what, early at first in 10, I'm at 15.

Yep.

Isn't

that holding call?

Yes.

That was big.

Yep.

But I think you're going to see a different center come in.

Owen plays strong on defense, does an excellent job, but maybe just needs a little break from center right now.

So first and 10 tri-count, he's 7.39 to go here, second quarter, 16-0 in Hurley.

Charlie Haney with two touchdowns, one on a long 60-yard run and another one on a long pass.

He has bags and you want to get him out in the open and he might get there now.

Nope, Hurley defense, now he's still running and he's

going to get

picked up nine yards.

Yep, you gotta stay home,

exactly.

Oh,

they gave him 10 on that one, all right.

They'll give him 10 also.

First down for Tchaikovsky.

Boom, two running backs in

motion.

That was

right into each other.

This one's coming back.

Yeah, I think they're gonna take this the play though, right?

It didn't blow dead.

So I think he'd lose six

yards.

I don't know if I Think they gotta take it.

Oh, okay.

I think it's it's the plane ever happened Okay, it's kind of like a dead ball.

What?

Yes, when the flip.

Both running backs run ahead on collision.

Yeah, they

run

right at each other.

I

wonder which one was wrong.

I'm pretty sure they have to take this.

It's not

It's a dead it's a dead the balls should have never been snapped They're talking about something all right, they're gonna know That is the fourth penalty on the tricony mm-hmm The backs lined up as wing backs

Yeah, they turned each other.

I wonder what they said when they were looking at each other when they almost collided

Uh, maybe we shouldn't have done this.

Uh-oh.

Reps are calling the timeout now.

They're, you

know, they're having a conversation here on something.

Not sure what the, not sure what the delay is.

To the market.

I think to the coach for, to the market, he was wondering what happened.

To the market too far back.

Yeah, I think so

Well hey, that might be the smart call the game if uh, yeah the Hey a yard means a lot referee's marked it back seven and the Tri-County coach caught it and they moved the ball back up two yards There's a new running back for tri-county number 14 Israel Chumley

We didn't get much no landed Chris Robertson comes up with the

tackle

Picked up what?

Two?

Yeah, about two or three, yeah.

If Landon doesn't make that tackle though, he could have been gone.

There was nobody over there.

I think he picked up one.

It's second and 14 clocks.

The scoreboard shows second and three.

Oh, no, it shows 13.

Second and 13.

We go back to pass.

Quick pass out.

Almost a

one-handed

interception.

But Gordon Gilbertson that would have been the play of the game.

Yes, that would have been sports center

He was backing up.

Yeah in the defensive back and just almost grabbed a one-handed inception Not sure who that pass was intended for but I'm just gonna marketing complete You didn't see who was out there.

I was focused on Gilbertson third down and 13 ball on the Tritone 26 yard line

The most days in the shotgun backs are split And off goes to bags looking for more on the right side turns the corner

wraps up and we got another holding call.

I

think

Hurley might decline this one.

It's gonna bring up a fourth and long But it could make it third and longer Wouldn't be surprised if they

We're talking to the early coaching staff now giving them their options and they're gonna say Take the play it looks like

no, but

what are you doing

taking the play yep

So brings up a fourth and

Hipped

up a few yards on that carry in four yards.

There's a beef

fourth and eighth.

Are they going to go for it?

I don't know.

It looks like they got a guy in putt formation back there.

Yeah.

Hainan back deep, punting into the wind.

Thanks to the pun.

It's a high kick.

Winsor will hold it up a little bit and Hainan bobbled it but fell on it and Hurley will have good field position right at their own 45 yards line.

6-0

6 to go here in the second quarter.

We'll keep it right here as early as we've got their offense on the field already.

Yep, not wasting any time.

Two games next week, Joe.

Yeah, Thursday, August 27th.

We'll be in Irwood as the Florence Bobcats come into town to take on the Red Devils.

6 p.m.

kick by 45 pregame.

And then Friday afternoon in Wakefield, it'll be Randy Charles and myself, North Central.

and go give it in Wakefield.

That's a five o'clock kickoff.

Low snap.

Payne picks him out the ground and he is out to the races.

One guy to beat, breaks a tackle and now wrapped up.

Trying to get around Beggs.

He would have been the last guy but Payne cut back and that left the Tri-County defense catch up to him.

So Ball was on the 45 where did it end up?

5, 10, 15, 20, 21, 21 yards.

And another first down for the North Stars.

He is shifting.

Oh,

he is.

All he needs is one little gap and he

just... You know, I

don't know.

Last year I think he had a 200 yard game didn't he?

Yeah, I think so.

That

was another first down.

Did you get that for Hurley?

Yep.

Low snap picked up by... That's Gilbert's end and he's looking to get in the end zone.

Breaks a tackle at the five and he's away from it.

This was the final score last year.

Was it in the playoff game?

Hainan and lots of this will be lots run the carry.

He's going to be wrapped up short of the whole line.

Two point conversion is no good.

And with 528 to go in the second quarter, it's early 22 and try counting nothing.

We'll be back in 30 seconds with early kickoff.

All right, back here in Hurley.

5-28 to go second quarter, Hurley up 22-0.

What a run by Bowden Gilbertson.

It was beautiful.

How many yards did he go?

34 yards.

And like you said, there were eight players on defense and he beat six of them by himself.

About four or five spins.

Yeah.

Yeah, it was a beautiful run and he wasn't being stopped that time.

So Hurley up right now 22-0 with 5-28 left here in the second quarter.

All right.

And they're kicking.

with the wind up their back you like our new shirts yes yes so you got those

uh

for us yeah oh i

take

care of our i hang announcers you brought us water i did

i left lucas sandwich

yep we had rules in the studio today yep now we have w j m s w i m i shirts

i know i

think i'm

spoiling these guys wow i'm gonna have to stop doing

that

That is cool.

Here is the run-up and the kick by Shilling.

It's gonna be on the ground.

Oh, 95 right.

That was like a shortstop.

Yep, a hard groan to right to him.

It's not hard to catch that ball.

It was bouncing along the ground.

Do you remember

who they had to kick it off last year, Rod?

Do you remember the kicker last year?

Was it the roll?

I can't remember who was kicking last year.

Hmm.

Question.

Yeah.

You know, it might have been Ro.

Is he here?

Is he in the crowd?

We'll ask him.

I don't

know.

Maybe his dad's out there.

I could ask his dad.

First in ten, here's a handoff to Beggs and he's wrapped up and dropped by Shilin.

Wow.

And that's going to be a loss.

of about a yard.

Beggs did not get back to the line of scrimmage, but he lost maybe even two yards.

One yard, I'll give him one yard, one yard

loss.

Well, Wesley can sure tackle, he's not having a good night kicking though, but he can sure tackle.

That was a beautiful tackle out there.

Second and 11, clock running, 4.57 to go here before half time.

Freeble.

Thanks in motion and we have a leg illegal motion.

You saw it.

Yep Penalties are really slowing dr. Iconi down.

Yeah

Those mistakes those mistakes hurt

Ian Han in the ballgame know it defense as Just look down who came out

Oh, and Mimi, I think, came out.

So it's second and 16 for Tricone, heading towards the south end

zone.

Bex goes in motion, Handoff goes to the big guy, Garcia.

He breaks a tackle and rumbles back to the original line of

scrimmage.

He reminds me

of...

What's that

guy that?

Norm Goulash.

Remember Norm Goulash from the Colts?

Goulash.

Goulash.

Goulash.

Not food, Joe.

Not food.

Not Goulash.

I can eat some Goulash.

No, I don't remember that name actually.

Was that a wrestler?

No, it was a fullback for the Colts many, many years ago.

Same kind of body style.

3rd and 11th for Trikoni.

And up again to the big guy and he's wrapped up boy who got in there first?

I don't know the bottom of that pile.

That was a beautiful 56 You have Ryan fear.

Wow beautiful play by there.

Then he had some help from linebackers

Also

Number 87 Ian Han nice job by Hurley that time

There was a fear a couple years ago on this team

Had a good good on defense to an offense low snap on the punt bags are gonna get off at the high one and Hainan was gonna get away from it Hainan's name back to receive it number five was back there and he He got out of there.

That was a Christopher's and smart move because that ball barely made it back to the Well, they have second and fourth and 12.

Yeah, the 14-yard punt.

Yep

So Hurley is going to have good field position once again with 3-25 left here in the first half up 22-0.

They could add some more to that score, Rod.

Yeah.

So offense is kind of fun to watch.

It is.

It's a good mix.

They really got a lot of people on offense that they can count on.

Let's see if they change centers.

Nope.

53 is down in there.

Colorado at the middle.

And he's going to be wrapped up.

Picked up about three yards.

I think what it was Rod is what they did is they did like they want to get the warm-up pitcher up the backup so the starting pitcher sees him doing that all of a sudden oh hey I better get my stuff together

yeah all right yeah because 70 was warming up on the sideline

yeah in front

of us second and about seven this is uh lobster

on the carry.

Picks up positive yardage.

Gives him about four more.

Maybe three more.

It looks like it's going to be third in about three here.

This

offense is almost in four-dome territory, even at midfield.

Yeah, I agree with you.

He stays in that.

Shocked information.

This is Hainan Went right cuts it back now.

He's gonna turn the corner.

He's got the first down and more

Oh, I almost thought he was gonna get himself in trouble there for a minute Shifty That must be his nickname shifty.

I was watching See the camera crew down there on about the 35 yard line.

Oh,

yeah Jason Juno and Hainan was headed right for that They didn't move no

Not Jason Juno.

He's taking some hits over the years.

Oh, yeah, yes Sometimes he's whitey close too close to the action.

He's whitey whitey Why remember that?

Why are we?

Why are you trying to say it with that accent?

All right.

We got time out With 156 to go in the second quarter early up 22 to nothing will take a 30 second break

All right back here in Hurley coming out of a timeout 22 to nothing Joe.

It's been all Hurley here in this football.

Yeah, they're they're doing a great job offensively especially Gaining it.

They all gave them like three to one already defense has been doing good.

So You'd never seen that show, huh?

What's your what's any of the replacements?

Yes,

I guess with Keanu Reeves.

Yes, yes, yes.

I did see that one.

That's what I was saying, wiry.

Okay.

Because the kicker was kind of skinny and they said, how does that guy kick at 60 yards?

He's a soccer player from England or somewhere.

Yes.

So they called him

wiry.

Yeah.

They had the build, they had the build new football team with what they could find.

Yep.

Yep.

Kotlin shotgun looking, rolling.

He was right.

Got a guy out there and it's intercepted by Gage Beggs.

Beggs read it perfectly.

He'll bring it back to the Tricone 41 yard line that pass had to have a little bit of air Yeah under it.

It was more on a bullet pass and begs was right there to intercept it.

Yep So that was what 33 to 21 and then you mark number 23 as the interceptor.

Oh, did you do that?

Okay.

I'll just do that Yeah

Just in case you probably we're gonna do it.

Just not at that.

Well, no, I wasn't at all.

I was just doing my own stat over here But you caught me That booster oh new quarterback the quarterback short pass to bags, I think it bounced it did yes number 12 checked in Sam Boyd

They

threw us a curveball there

Sam Boyd is out.

No, Sam Boyd is staying in there.

So

I've got to try something maybe a little different, you know.

This guy may be a better passer.

Are they calling that a fumble?

No?

That's either going to be a fumble or intentional grounding.

I can't imagine they're going to call.

I didn't think that was a fumble.

So it's going to be intentional grounding.

And do you mark it off from where the grounding was so you also get penalty yardage?

They

didn't that's where you threw it from Not

sure exactly how that works, but they marked off from where he threw it so

So that's gonna back them up third and 33 and this is bags looking for a running room

And almost broke a tackle.

He's going to be wrapped up well, well short of the first down market.

Trent Tion and let's see who else.

Trent Tion and Wesley Schilling both with the tackle there doing a nice job.

Do they go for it now?

Rod with what 48 seconds left or do you punt this away?

I would punt.

I

wouldn't give Hurley the ball there.

Did he get theirs?

I'm going to give

him... It doesn't look like a punt coming up here.

He lost about 15.

Look down.

31 seconds to go.

Frugal back at quarterback.

He's wrapped up.

And Hurley's going to have a chance for... They have plenty

of time.

Yeah, and then they have two timeouts.

I think they used one, right?

They got two more left.

Let's see.

Yeah, they have two left.

Well, I don't know if that was the smartest thing to do right now.

I mean, it's 22 to nothing, but...

You got a whole second half to play I would have punted that ball I think I think

so I think so you're taking a big putting your defense in a bad spot.

Yeah Hurley's got a quick strike offense.

They do Well any of those

backs can take it to the house

if Hurley scores here if That's gonna be marked as a bad call.

Mm-hmm not a smart choice Cotto back to pass.

Well, you know to his right looking for and I was gonna keep it

Oh, puts his shoulder down.

Yeah, I think he won that battle.

Yes, he did.

He put his shoulder down

hard.

But that's how you finish a run.

That's not the type

of...

His knee injuries are not affecting

his football right now.

And he only got, what, eight yards on that one?

But still, it

looked like...

I

probably should have been six, but he won the battle of the shoulder.

He

definitely

did.

He's a tough runner.

20 seconds to go here.

Second and one.

Caught him back to pass.

Gilbert's in across the middle.

Can he break some tackles?

He's gonna be wrapped up.

He's got the first down.

And now he really calls a timeout with 12 seconds to go.

Ball is, let's see how far it was there, from the 26 down to the, where they're marking at, 26.

Looks like about 11 yards, I think so.

Yep, took a while for that.

Good guy,

yeah.

12 seconds to go, hurley down to one time out, up 22 to nothing, but knocking on the door.

Yeah.

15 yards is not much to get for these quick backs

Packer football tomorrow against Denver eight o'clock start is it eight o'clock?

I think it's eight o'clock.

Is that eight o'clock our time or is that eight o'clock Denver time?

You know I'm not a hundred percent sure It would be nine o'clock on Denver.

I would think it's seven o'clock our time

But a couple more preseason games then regular season starts.

Yes

And we have a show we're going to be doing, but we'll tell you more about that next week.

Give you all the details on that, right?

Yeah.

I just gave him a little sneak peek, a little teaser.

Yes.

We hope it gets approved.

I think so.

All right, back to action here.

12 seconds to go.

Hurley coming out of the timeout.

Cottle back in shots of information.

What we're going to do is write.

Passes out to get the receiver and this will stop the clock because it's the first down that was the number 12 and That was good for about 12 yards.

I would say the ball's gonna be on about the four yard line.

Mm-hmm Beautiful play that time and under pressure you threw a nice ball.

I sure did So now getting another first down though.

So Hurley will have it like he said at the once they change

everything

Six seconds to go here in the second quarter.

But this is like an in-between call, you know what I mean?

It is six yards to go.

I mean, either way, I mean, do you roll them out?

I think I roll them out and give them the option to run our pass.

My guess is going to be, Hanging's going to have his ball.

The ball's going to be in his hand with the option to pass or run.

That'd be my call.

Number three turns the corner, and he is in for the touchdown.

Wow.

Bowden-Gilbertson.

And that going for it on...

Fourth and long for Tricone really cost them.

Yeah, we talked about that if they should have punted the ball I mean even that extra 15 yards with 48 seconds left You know is is a big thing that going forward on fourth and what 12 I think it was.

Yes.

Yeah, and You you can't be given a team.

I mean Hurley's dominating right now by the you know,

so They go for two and this is

not going to any good lots are got chipped up in the backfield so with one second to go here in the second quarter it's

early 28

try counting nothing we'll take a 30 second break come back with early kickoff after this message

All right back here in Hurley one second to go In the second quarter Hurley put six more on the board 28 to nothing and I believe Hurley will

look at the ball They do try calling that's

right.

That's right.

They deferred they deferred

Alright, back here in Hurley.

We're at halftime with the score early 28 and try counting nothing and Hurley's offense is just loaded with a lot of weapons Ending Christopher sin with some runs Bowden Gilbertson with some nice runs Charlie Heyman There's some nice runs and Max Connell also running well and passing well so a lot of weapons out there and their defense is just playing stellar

as they are again pitching a shutout against Tri-County.

I've seen Tri-County and Hurley play twice and Tri-County has yet to score in six quarters.

Taking a look at rushing totals for Tri-County here.

Beggs.

Gage Beggs has six carries for 29 yards.

Damian Freebowl has nine carries for 22 yards.

Armando Garcia has seven carries for ten yards Number 14 Israel Chumley had a carry for four yards and number 12 got rushing one Russian stat Sam Boyd He came in there and he lost 15 yards on that roll out that ended up being a intentional grounding play at the end of it 15-yard loss on that one so 24 carries for

Tri-County 50 yards.

They have a lot of yardage that went backwards.

It really cuts into their yardage.

In the passing game, I have them for one completion out of four attempts for 21 yards.

So, 71 yards full offense for Tri-County in the first half.

Joe, do you have anything on Hurley?

Nope.

No, I got them for you.

So I'm looking at the quarterback.

Let's see.

Well, first of all, we'll do some running yardage for, let's see, number 21 has, that's Hayden has 92 yards rushing right now.

And we also got number 33, who is Max Caldell.

He's having six yards rushing, but he's also 28 yards rushing for him.

Looking at number three, Bowden Gilbertson.

We have

58 yards rushing and 15 yards for Landon Christopherson and three for Marshall Lotzer.

So if you add that all up total right now, it's 196 yards rushing for Hurley on 22 carries.

Of course, the leading rusher right now is number 21, which is Charlie Heyman.

And he also does, yeah, two touchdowns, right?

One receiving, one running.

and for passing they are 4 of 10 for 117 yards and one interception so those sound like great stats they are wow I got my crayons and my colored pencils all over here and I'll bring my protractor next week and I'll be offset

so what do they have for

don't ask

196 yards rushing to Tri-Counties 50 yeah I guess that explains the 28 to nothing

Well, score.

And I'll tell you, it's the defense for Hurley's playing a spectacular game.

I mean, they're really putting, they're getting to that quarterback a few times and they're causing some holding calls because I think Tri-County had three penalties on holding and two legal procedures.

Yes.

So, and that hurt them too because they had second and like six, second and eighth and then penalties knocked you back a little bit but Hurley dominating the first half right now and

It's just my opinion on what I would have done

differently.

I'm 100% behind you.

It wasn't the call of the game, but it wasn't smart.

With 48 seconds left and you have the ball over there at their own

44.

Yeah, it was something like that.

And there's 48 seconds left.

Hurley had two timeouts left.

And, you know, you run for a yard and then they give Hurley the ball and Hurley's a good quick strike offense.

I mean, they're just getting in their groove now.

I wonder what the second half is going to look like.

But yeah, not a good call.

Yeah, that's just our opinion up here.

And we're in final to our opinion, but I think it really, really put a triconi in a bad spot here as we get into the third quarter.

We have about five and a half minutes to go yet.

Some of the games coming up here in our schedule is, like I said, Florence at Ironwood next Thursday night.

North Central at Gullgivick next Friday afternoon in Wakefield.

And the following Friday we're back in Ironwood for Lakeland and Hubble.

And I think we have Crystal Falls

I think it's only for a shawanigan game later in September And we have a couple games in desert.

All right, back here in Hurley.

We're about a minute away from third quarter kickoff with Hurley out in front 28 to nothing.

Take a look at scoring highlights.

It started with Hurley, third play of the ball game.

Charlie Hayden on a 54 yard run at 1035 mark gave Hurley a six point lead.

That two point conversion was good and Hurley went up 8 to nothing.

They got the ball back up to a three and out by Tri Coney.

and Max Cotto a beautiful pass over the outstretched hand with the defender right into the hands of Charlie Hainan and who caught it and went for six more with 142 to go in the first quarter that was a 40 yard pass two point conversion was good and at that point early led 16 to nothing and it was time for Bowdoin Gilbertson to put on a show

Yeah, 34 yard run.

That's the one where he spun about five times.

He broke about seven tackles.

And he ran it in from 34 yards out with 528 to go in the second quarter.

Extra point was no good and early lead 22 to nothing.

And then on that play we just, that situation we just talked about a few minutes ago, North Central, North Central.

I knew I was going to say North Central eventually because that's the color uniforms they were.

Tri-County.

With 26 seconds going second quarter decided over on fourth and long did make it gave early excellent to position on the 26 yard line and Bowden Gilbertson ran it in from six yards out with one second ago extra point was no good And that's where we are at halftime early 28 and nothing and there's really nothing going wrong for

early Joe No, besides that interception and then they did they have a fumble?

They probably would have recovered it.

Yeah, so besides that interception, they've been pretty flawless here in the first half and moving the ball quite a bit.

Like I said, 196 yards rushing is exactly what coach wants, you know?

Coach Edavine's happy.

I've read in the paper today that their next two ball games on the road at Leona and at Phillips will be a big test for them.

Those are two of the top teams.

I think both teams

Phillips didn't make it to the playoffs.

I guess they can't make the eight man playoffs because their school enrollment is too big.

Okay, but you can still play eight man football Okay, you're not gonna make the playoffs, but they would have made the playoffs had they been eligible that they were that good and then Leona I think they won there they made it to the second round of the playoffs, so You don't know who they lost obviously into the graduation, but two tough games coming up for Hurley both on the road.

So I mean, it's a it's a little, if you're going to look for something, that's one thing they're going to want to correct.

Yeah.

And you always got that's why you have to practice yet.

That's why you have the team meetings and everything.

You got to practice all those things.

And against maybe a better defensive team, a little quicker getting to the quarterback them, them kind of snaps might hurt a little bit.

Yes, not as deceiving as it was with Erickson with that Three backfield quarterback down low and then I struggled with who had the ball sometimes

members Josh Steady

Well, yeah, that was a great offense when they had him at quarterback I could never tell I'd be up here like Who's got the ball that that's how you kind of played it because you never knew they were good at hiding the ball and you think someone got tackled and The

place still going on the other side of the field.

Yep

So yeah, so Hurley's gonna kick off your rod.

It was... We're saying yes.

Yep.

I definitely,

I saw the ball at his waist.

Number 95 had the first shot at it and that's Cameron Fenske and it got by him and then he went back to fall on it.

He did but the ball scored an oak from underneath him.

You're exactly right Rod and then Hurley recovered.

I didn't get who recovered the football though.

I was trying to see who recovered it but Hurley's got the ball.

First and ten.

Yeah.

And that good field position too.

First in 10 on the Tri-County 42 yard line already up 28 to nothing.

And let's see who they got in the backfield.

It's hard to tell at this angle.

Charlie, is that Charlie Hainan?

There's some new guys out there now.

No, that was Hainan.

Hainan might have picked up one yard on that carry.

Next coddles in there number three is Bowdoin Gilbertson And now checking in is Liam Hall coming out is Christopherson The layman in there I think Owen Neeme is still at the center and Hall is at one of the guards months There's Gilbertson right at the middle and he picks up good yardage mm-hmm

Close to the first down.

Maybe a yard or two short.

Let's see what the chain game marks them.

Oh, it's more than this.

That's about two yards.

Seven on the scary, one on the first.

Second,

third and eighth, third and two.

Big guy in there for the defense.

Number 95?

Yeah,

playing most tackle.

Collar at the middle, he's going to get first down and more.

Another first down for Hurley.

I have North, I have Tricone who's only three first downs in the first half.

I think that's a good stat, you're exactly right.

Another

first down for the North Stars as they are moving here inside Tricone territory, ball on the 30-29 yard line.

New set of downs 10 26 to go third quarter 28 to nothing This could move into a running clock situation here if they score On this drive coddle up the middle and boy, he's a hard runner.

Yeah, he is Kind of runs more straight up than most right backs, but Does hang on to that ball then he does move the pile so I'm not faulting them

seven yard

Second

in three all on the Tritone 22 yard line You got Gilbertson just off of coddles right Side and up goes to Hainan took it right now brings it back left breaks a tackle and then he's wrapped up by number

67, Armando Garcia.

He made sure that Charlie Heenan didn't get out of his grasp.

No game that time.

Almost looked quick like a face mask, but he grabbed him by the jersey, by the front of the jersey, but the way he came around, swung around, but that was good coverage by Tri County that time.

That guy was taught to

wrap up.

That's what he did.

So it's third and four ball on the Tricone 23 are the hurley most likely in four-down territory here Gilbertson backed up then he gets going forward.

That was kind of an interesting play.

Mm-hmm.

I like it a snap Gilbertson backed up like he was gonna know what that was gonna

Do

give him a head of steam going forward first

down

Hurley just pecking away, Rod.

Yes.

Little short carries here and there.

Goodwoodson's a junior.

Hainan's a senior.

Kato's a senior.

So a new set of downs for the North Stars.

Looks like Hainan's going to get it.

Yep, and Duke's one guy and now he's wrapped up by five guys on Charlie Hainan.

Take it easy on Charlie's only

five

ten

one fifty

five guys tackling him Cobble check him back into the login And it'll to to go here eight minutes actually to go Third quarter twenty eight to nothing early

Gilbertson and Cottle in the backfield and then goes in motion Snap goes to Cottle up the middle.

He's got a hole.

He's not going to get the first down.

He's going to get positive yardage Give him maybe four on that carry.

It looks like it's going to be maybe third and five in this angle.

Maybe third and six.

He said seven looks like six to me, but he's closer

Haby and Chris Kelly.

He's in the next booth over.

Hurley is going towards the North End zone here.

Flag is still blowing pretty good there.

I think it's more like eight miles an hour now.

He's at

six, I

think

it's eight now.

Well, it's streaky.

Kyle will pitch out to Gilbertson, dropped it and fell on it.

He'll just move Hurley back.

Gilbertson a loss of a couple yards on that.

Play since he was the closest guy to the ball.

I'll bring up a fourth and About seven it looks like William Hall came out and I believe the landing Christopherson went in

Well, let's see what this play I think it's gonna be a passing play myself.

I think it is too.

I think it's gonna go to Charlie Hainan

That's just my guess.

They had Charlie set up in a slot.

Colo back to pass under a rush and he had no time, no time.

Tri-County called for the Blitz and Colo, he had all he could do to get rid of

that

before he took a sack.

So good defensive stand that time by Tri-County.

They bent a little bit but they didn't break it.

They didn't want that running clock.

That's probably the case I think so So first in 10 Tri-County 616 to go here in the third quarter 28 nothing early all is on the 20-yard line of Tri-County

Looks like Israel Chalmi coming in Chalm Chalm Lee Chalm Lee Chalm Lee isn't he on punch up?

Yeah You know that show what you don't know the replacement

must came back to school

We're down to Tricone.

Chumlee.

Let's see who's that quarterback.

I think it's number two.

It's just my guess.

Nope, it's number 12.

I guess wrong.

This is 14 on the carry.

That is Israel Chumlee.

As we

start...

Oh, and Mimi with the tackle that time.

Boy, he's a good tackler.

He gets those meat hooks on you.

He's

strong.

Sam

Boyd at quarterback now.

Boyd is a 6,375 pound senior.

I remember him playing last year.

One name that I recognize along with Beggs.

It's only in motion.

This is Boyd on the carry off the left side and gets around the corner but that's about it.

It might have picked up one yard.

I'm going to give him one yard.

I can't tell.

Is that Tia with the tackle?

Is Tia in there?

Trent Tia.

His jersey is kind of wrinkled up.

A nice tackle out there.

The courtboard shows third and five.

Fall in the 25 yard line.

Four fifty-eight to go third quarter.

Boyd, wait for the snap, back to pass, looking, looking, looking, no one opened, he's going to lob it over the middle and it's intercepted by Bowdoin Gilbertson, tipped it up in the air and then ran under it.

So this was number, let's see, this

is

my

staff,

12 to 23 and it's intercepted.

Big play by Bowdoin that time, beautiful, read that nicely.

and quarterback was getting rushed, tried to drop it over top and Bowen made a nice play, tipped it to himself and picked it off.

So Hurley in good field position again on the 20-yard line.

I think coach Edivine's got a few other plays up his sleeve now.

Hainan in the center flank by Gilbertson, is that offside then?

Chuck, how do you know it wasn't?

Oh, something happened.

There's a flag.

Probably a hold on Hurley in the backfield.

Hainan did all he could to get back up in line of scrimmage.

Yeah, it's holding on Hurley.

And I would think...

I'd take it, definitely.

Let's see, they're talking about it.

Taking it or just there?

Holy that is the third penalty on Hurley.

Tricone has five penalties.

First down at 20.

First and 24 the North Stars.

Track snap goes to Hayden.

Is it off to Gilbertson looking for a running room and he's wrapped up.

We had a picked up No, I don't think you've picked up a yard.

I know No game not real good blocking

on that place.

No, it wasn't

no

You tried to do a little misdirection.

Yeah, try calling.

He wasn't buying it.

Nope

Oral eight to go here Again, we will have our smart choice of the game brought to you by Northwood Technical College in Ashland

You gotta think of one.

Something.

Something.

Something during this game.

I'm trying to... I got one.

Connell back in shotgun formation.

Back to Bath.

He's got a guy out there and it's caught.

Bye.

Bilberson.

Or Christopherson.

I'm sorry.

Landed Christopherson.

Bath is

complete.

Connell

under a heavy rush.

What was that down to the five yard line

so that

was a What was the ball on the balls on the 40 So

the 30 30

25 right pass.

Yep

Another first down for Hurley By the passing row and they are in business again on the four-yard line first and goal Hurley First and four from the four he didn't

Slips in the backfield and he's brought down.

I even lost a yard or two Try to split the defense.

There's

two guys coming down on him try to do a quick juke and lost his footing

Any game on that one run, I think they went backwards today

Well, they're saying it's before maybe not.

All right, maybe he got back to line scourge second and four going off the scoreboard

250 to go here third quarter As a handoff to Gustafsson and he is in for the score Landon takes it the final four yards And with 239 to go here in the third quarter Hurley puts six more on the board

Hurley up 34 to nothing right now and if they get this two points now Is it a running clock there or is it just in the fourth quarter?

It's got to be 35 points or more.

Yep.

No, it's second half.

Second half.

Okay.

That was what number, number five went for.

Nice little run.

Nice hole opened up for him and got in the end zone.

Really will go for two.

They were successful in the first two tries and unsuccessful in the own.

Nice cutback.

That was a beautiful cutback that time.

Number four, Nolan Sain.

Yeah.

That was a beautiful

cutback.

Yeah, I thought he was, uh, I thought he was down.

Three yard

line.

Yeah.

Step on, step, step back.

Yeah.

Juke moving.

He opened up the hole.

The red sea parted.

All

right.

239 to go over here in the third corner, we'll take a quick, well there's no quick 30 second break, it's a 30 second break, and come back with a release kickoff.

Play that 29 second commercial.

Free food, free ice cream, free entry into a drawing for up to $1,000 in chamber dollars, employee pricing on all in-stock

new trucks, up to $1,000 in chamber dollars with every vehicle purchase, 59.95 synthetic oil changes,

This is not a sale.

This is a can't miss event at Marthaler Honda Trade of Ashen.

We're just like the view.

The sale is superior.

All right, back here in early years, we are set.

Well, we're going to be set, certainly, as soon as early takes the field.

For Hurley's kickoff, back deep, for the Penguins is number two, Damian Freebow and number 14, Israel Chumley.

That same cooker mm-hmm Westly shilling It's been just whip-kicking here.

Let's see what they do here, and it's gonna be long this one's gonna get up in the air a little bit Yeah, thinking on a on the run by free will 40 cuts back looking for room around the left side and all wrapped up by number five Golden Gilbert

or landing across

office.

Did you see that play by Landon though?

I was watching him the whole time just to see what other guys were doing on the kickoff.

He stayed home back at the 40 yard line here and just stood there and watched to see if he broke containment and then came up and made the play.

So of course it's coached that way, but he did an excellent job.

Hurley

does seem to be very well coached.

Yes, I love stuff like that

when you

watch this off the play sometimes and you see a kid just do the right job because really if he cuts that back and he commits on that side

And it's

so easy to get sucked into that

action over there.

Yep.

See, I think this is why we got two guys going to meet each other in the backfield again.

Yep.

There's the flag.

The

flag was above five.

It's 35 seconds

late.

You called the penalty like a half hour ago.

They got a lot of guys doing both moving at the same time.

Yeah.

Well, they got a couple new guys in there, at least one.

Now Chumlee and... Chumlee and Beggs.

Again, two running backs lined up as wing backs, headed on the cushion course.

Another

penalty on Tricone.

Actually about five.

That's their sixth penalty.

Oh, a reverse.

And... Chumlee's going to be wrapped

up.

Back to the line of scrimmage.

Once again, Trent Tion with a nice tackle.

No

game for Chomley.

Yeah, Wesley Schilling too.

Good basketball player Wesley Schilling is.

The

clock is running now, which it should be.

And I think, I think we're in running clock mode, even on dead balls, unless there's a timeout or a touchdown.

So second and 15 ball back on Tricone's.

41 and no fake handoff freeball keeps it and he's wrapped up by six of the eight defenders

That first initial hit was from Ian Han senior for early

I think that was no game

It's no 3rd and 15.

It's not still 3rd and 15.

It's now 3rd and 15.

It was 2nd and 15.

I'll get it.

By mid-season, I'll have this all figured out

again.

I

figured, yeah.

Yeah.

I'm just letting you talk.

Yeah.

Oh, well, that may be a problem.

You might have to take over here.

Nope.

My microphone's not working all right.

Yeah.

A lot of static.

Freeball, high snap, threw a playoff, but it helped him.

I think it threw the defense off a little bit.

Yeah.

that was

the best

run of the series is what people gets a ball let's see he's just

11 on that carry what happened there Hayden he took a hard hit yeah Hayden made a real strong tackle on him but uh i don't know if it was he's getting up right away so

people took a while he's gonna have to come off the field now if they stop it for him i

think

What does it mean to

For Senex, it means everything.

It means that we know if you take your coffee to go, or if you like to stay a while.

It means we've helped Little Leagues get jerseys and local festivals get funding.

It means we know what our communities need.

So you'll always leave Senex with a full tank, full of snacks, or full of smiles, or all of the above.

And that means the world to us.

Business Office at 100 East Aurora, downtown Ironwood.

All right.

Well, after the tackle, the quarterback was laying on the ground for a few minutes.

The coach came up, talking to the referees.

People got up walked off the field under his own power But then they moved the ball back five yards.

I don't know what the five-yard penalty was.

I don't know I Don't know the yep, and they moved it back five yards for some reason after the play was dead So I Don't know does the coach have to be called on to the field.

Yeah, that one I don't know for sure

snapped a free ball, he took two steps forward, dropped the ball, and that threw the whole play off, and then he was tackled.

We're now in the fourth quarter.

Well, and he picked up maybe

one yard.

What is the first down on the marker over there, though?

I'm not.

All right.

Wave and no.

Wave and no.

Oh, Hurley's ball.

They switched it over.

So

the penalty was on Hurley.

Yes.

That's what that was.

The penalty was on Hurley.

They moved it.

So after the clock hit zero,

they

switched sides and then they marked five

yards off on Hurley.

That's what it was.

Okay, so Tri-Coni now turned it over on Downs.

It was back in Hurley's possession.

They went for it on a fourth down.

There's Hainan, breaks the tackle, looking to get outside.

Cannot turn the corner and picked up about seven yards.

Knocked out a ball and spun he gauge begs so bad.

It's what it

was.

Yeah, I was wondering why they moved.

Yeah, well the rest didn't give any indication either.

No And it happened after the clock

after the

quarter ended

It

looked to me it looked like apparently was against Tri-County and I couldn't figure out why yeah, but it was against Hurley.

All right second down and about Seven I think he picked up three yards on that carry Must have stepped out earlier than when he got

Is he in it?

No, this is Gilberton on the carry.

Gilberton picked up a ball.

He

picked up a ball.

Maybe three yards, brings up it third and four.

I think we're going to start seeing some new players in here now on the fourth quarter.

So Tricone only ran six plays in that fourth quarter.

Yeah, third quarter.

Yeah, and that clock is running, correct?

Keeps running.

Here in the fourth quarter.

Yes, unless there's a time-old or something or an injury or a score This is lotser And he's not gonna get the first down.

He might have picked up the yard.

They're gonna give him forward progress.

Mm-hmm.

That's gonna make it fourth in three 36 nothing

All right, back here in Hurley.

Fourth and three, Hurley.

Going for it on the try Tony 44 yard line pass out to the flat almost lost it.

Who's that?

Yes, that's a Wesley Schilling

Wow The

the juggling act

yes Pass came up to the right side show me was wide open

Yeah, I

think it maybe bounced off his shoulder pad

bounced off his shoulder pad his helmet that his shoulder pad again, then he caught it

What

was the

yardage on that

one?

From the...

34 down to the... 13?

13 yards.

Third quarter triconi had 5 yards of total offense.

Here is a...

Snap to Wotser, goes off left side, puts his head down and he'll barrel forward for about three or four yards.

I like the way he did put his head down though.

That was a nice run, ran hard, finished it off.

Wotser is a 5'10", 165 pound junior.

Hurley just staying, you know, I mean, throwing a pass every, well, actually they, if you look at it, they have quite a few passes.

Yeah, they're, I mean they're very versatile.

Years ago, that would be a season's total.

Yeah, for Hurley.

Yeah.

What are they at?

13?

13 passes?

Yeah.

Yeah, that'd be a season's worth it.

Is a run off the left side of Christopher

City.

Okay.

It was like the defenders were looking for him because he stayed so low.

Picked up maybe would you give him first down?

Well game of sevens is wait for Chris to tell us there you go Third down in two That bounce back to the quarterback, but staying with it was Westley shilling was a one hopper And he picked up the first down right he's four he got five all on the ten yard line

And really looking to put six more on the board.

Shilling now in that quarterback.

Shilling to stop for Sim and lots are in the backfield.

Snap goes to Shilling.

Straight ahead and he'll get down to close to the five yards

line.

There's a piece.

Second and five they can get a first down right around the one-yard line Chilling comes out number seven goes in Ryan Nyquist

Junior

see what they have in the backfield here number one is in the ballgame Everett Lauren those these young kids play you got time to do it now Lauren and lotser

In the backfield.

This is Lauren looking for a room on the right side.

He's wrapped up like a pinball.

Yeah, most of the three

people.

Yes, he was.

Wow.

Lauren on the ball carrier.

It's a tough angle when they get down there.

Hard to see.

8-0-2 breaks up 3rd down

and 3rd.

3 ball inside the 5 yard line.

Think you got a first down right around the one yard line here obviously they're in two four down territory

Mm-hmm

All goes to Marin and number four is gonna be run back to the nine yard

line Lots

of fiber yes

That brings up

fourth

and fourth in about

eight for first down Yeah, let's see what the calls gonna be or they gonna go for silver.

I don't know they're shilling their kicker

No, he's on kickoffs Really didn't punt today.

They did not try county did twice

One went 14 yards

Mm-hmm And time they should have put that they didn't

right

Probably because they punted 14 yards on the previous point.

Got a guy out there

and overshot.

Oh, he's being held.

Did you see that?

I saw it.

No, they didn't.

He was grabbing his jersey there in that corner.

That was Lauren too.

Could have been a flag.

Is that one to two?

Oh, on the other side of the field, there's a flag.

Oh, there, okay.

Yeah, so that was Liam Hall out in the pass row.

Number one to number two that plate.

What's the call?

Against Hurley, Tricone declines it.

They will take over.

407 to go here.

They will be against Hurley.

Even if they would have scored a touchdown, that would have been nullified.

Right.

Look at that defensive line in there now.

Yep.

early up thirty six to nothing right now for seven left in this ballgame on

six hundred and ninety five pounds on their early defense

oh geez

both Elvira's brothers are in there Noah is a junior and Aaron is a software give those kids because they just came off of football yeah fantastic football before and

nothing wrong

they're playing this is what they started practice on a Tuesday so this is their 14th day of football

The interest in the sea

All right.

Well, we got a break.

We'll take a 30 second break your work from our sponsors and we'll come back with the rest of the ballgame here from Hurley back in 30

All

right, back here in Hurley.

Well, Tri-Coney's offense is ready.

Like I

said, big a defensive line.

Hurley still huddled around the questions now.

Say,

well,

they

got a lot to talk about.

All right, let's see what these new kids can do.

First in 10 for Tri-Coney.

Pass across the arrow to the right side.

Incomplete, intended for number 14.

And that

was incomplete.

Only one completion for Tricone in this ballgame, and that was their very first pass.

Second in 10.

A

lot of subs in right now for Hurley.

You got number 23 Jack Smith playing cornerback.

Pass across the middle and 64.

I don't know if he was not looking for it or 23 undercut that ball nicely that time though.

Pass is intended for Reckon Urban.

Third and 10.

3-10 to go here in the ballgame.

Hurley comfortably out in front 36-0.

Of course, Tritone in two years has not scored on Hurley's defense.

well you just put the ax in that one

well well

the heck

well I that's it broadcasters jinx tumbling goes in motion boy looking to turn the corner on the right side and he is wrapped

oh nice tackle that's a couple yards that tackled by Everett Lauren out there nice job

The momentum dropped down the tank and pulled them down.

We're going to have to bring that up to coach Eddie and let me come up with the techniques,

the

passing techniques, and the discipline to stay home on certain things.

Well coached.

Very well coached defense, yeah.

All right, fourth and eighth.

Justin, plan against linebacker.

Well

that was a direct snap to Boyd, and he may go the distance here.

You know, wrapped up all the foam all that, and Hurley's gonna recover.

Was he out of bounds?

I didn't think so.

Wow, was that a saving tackle attack by Everett Lauren chased him down.

Made the tackle, and it's gonna be Hurley's ball.

He went 12 to the 30, so that was 38.

So he went 58 yards on that carry.

Who was on that tackle?

That was Everett Lauren.

Lauren, the tackle, knocked the ball out of Beggs' hand and then hurriedly recovered it.

Yeah, because he turned the corner and I thought he was gone for a minute there and then Lauren came out of nowhere.

Made a nice tackle and made any fumble.

I don't think he hit and caught either.

surprised that Lauren caught him because he had nothing but daylight in front of him.

Maybe I almost spoke too early about

it.

You tried.

Yeah.

You tried.

So Hurley just getting pretty much, run it out, kneel on a ball.

Beggs went in motion and as he was in motion the snap came to him.

That is a timing

play.

Nice run nullified by the fumble.

You got to see that one on film though, because I don't know where ever Lauren came from.

Yeah, because it begs at one point, now one guy to beat.

Yeah, because Lauren plays left corner, so he must have saw the run come that way.

He came across midfield and he's just sprinting and chased the guy down.

What an effort, great effort.

I might have to look for an NFA just later tonight.

Yeah.

We're huddle, right?

It was on huddle, too.

All right, so Hurley will take over.

Great defensive play there.

Preserved the shutout, and all they need to run is about three plays here, and it'll be a victory.

I couldn't see him.

All I could see is a white and red hole there.

Yeah,

Cranberry.

Cranberry, and 22, I think, on the carry.

Ending stir.

are there

two Christophers?

I didn't see Christophers in with the

ball.

But I've been wrong before.

No.

About 40 seconds to go here.

Probably two more plays.

Something simple.

Just run the clock.

That was number 23 Jack Smith running that one.

Oh, we've got a flight going on here and we're gonna have a flag.

No, they're gonna keep the flag in the pocket.

Just a little talking to number not happy With the way Everett Lauren was probably still matter and got the hurting back.

Yeah All right do it early doesn't get the run of play

and the final score will be really 36 and try counting nothing.

Well

that's quite a deck.

What a game I tell you, it's like it's over.

It was over from the early playbill, they dominated this whole game.

We'll also have our smart choice of the game.

36-0, Hurley victorious.

We'll be back in five minutes.

All

right, back here in Hurley.

Final score tonight, Hurley 36 and Tri-Cony nothing.

It was pretty much all Hurley.

They scored on the third play of the ball game as Charlie Hainan went 54 yards for a touchdown run or on the left side down the Tri-Cony.

Side lines put Hurley up eight to nothing with the two-point conversion.

They forced Tricone into a three and out, got the ball back and Max Cottle again hooking up with Charlie Hayden.

This time on a beautiful thrown 40-yard pass that Hayden took at the final 20 yards on his own and Hurley was up 16.

Nothing they never looked back.

They put two more scores on the board before halftime thanks to in part to Tricone going for it on a

I'm pretty much there right now I had to use extra paper because there were extra subs of stuff like that So I had to go down to the bottom, but I'm pretty close to done here.

I

Passing in the second half.

It was they had five passes for 38 yards They also had that for the running attack not much I mean they really didn't run the ball great in the second half They had short field a couple times I got him 23 rushes for 49 yards in the second half and that's I missed one somewhere They didn't really rush as much Hainan only had a six yard.

Let's see.

What do we have in the second half?

He had a

Four carries for six yards.

They really bottled him up well, but the clock running running and then

they put some subs in there at the

end yeah in

that fourth quarter they they went with The subs a little bit.

Yeah, so you know 23 for 49 is what I got here and a lot of people got playing time It was good for the young kids.

Someone got some playing time.

So, uh, yeah, it was a big victory for Hurley Once again the final score 36 to nothing

Tri-County hasn't scored, like you said, well.

You almost did the hex, but big victory for Hurley starting out the season.

So exciting.

Who does Hurley have next, just when we're chatting here a little bit?

Depends on where you live.

Okay.

Could be Leona Lubino.

It could be Lubino Leona.

What book you read?

You got a fly flying around here.

Lord of the Flies up there.

We'll forget the tax.

But no, it was a very dominating game by Hurley.

Triced County from the start was overmatched.

You could see that.

And they had a couple nice plays, but overall Hurley's D. I don't even know, what was, do you have a total yardage for Triced County?

Yes, I do.

Okay.

You want me to catch him?

I'm just watching.

Okay.

Beggs, get the first name here.

I like to get the first name.

Gage Beggs had seven carries for 87 yards.

Quarterback, Damien Freebull had 12 carries for 34 yards.

Number 67 didn't carry in the second half at all on Mondo Garcia.

All his yards came in the first half.

He had seven carries for 10 yards.

Number 14, Chumlee, Israel Chumlee had three carries for seven yards.

And Sam Boyd came in and played quarterback at the end there.

and he had three carries for minus 11 yards 32 carries for tri-county 127 yards on offense there were one for seven in passing 23 yards total offense for tri-county 150 yards and we are joined now by coach Chris Edivine of the victorious Hurley North Stars and Chris why you have weapons

yeah got a lot of depth got a lot

of

skills.

You're running guys in that backfield constantly and stuff like that and it doesn't matter who's got the ball in.

He's just got some talent back there.

Yeah, talent.

The kids put a lot of work in the soft season too.

Last year we were outmatching some games, bigger, stronger, older, a little more experienced and the kids took that to heart this summer.

Is this a direct snap?

Is that new to sure?

Were you doing that last year?

Were you doing that?

I know Jack Rowe was a quarterback last year and he was like, he always has the ball in his hands.

But now you don't know who's getting the ball.

It's true.

It reminds me a lot of the old Monomony offense.

Yeah, you know, keep them on their toes, right?

Exactly.

Yeah.

But you keep in the broadcasters on our toes too.

Yeah.

But that's good.

I mean, I like, I like last out there, just a lot of talent.

And

one of the things that I was really noticing is your tackling skills.

Those kids were making I mean they hit them slow them down their momentum and dropped it on to their legs brought them down It was beautiful.

It's a big focus.

Yeah, especially in eight-man football a lot more open field tackles I'm happy with what I'm seeing so far.

So Like I told coach Ergoni, I want to keep building on that.

Yeah Hopefully continue to have success.

But was that last play ever at Lauren was either one who caught the guy running downfield?

Yes He started at left corner didn't he over there?

Yeah

That was an effort play.

Wow, we were sitting up here and I was like, where did he come from?

Because we thought for sure it was going to be a score.

We're like, oh no, and then all of a sudden out of the blue there he comes and he gets a fumble and he gets a recovery.

So nice job there.

Yeah, and another thing that we noticed during the course of the game was your guys, you teach this, stay home.

Look back at that the last kickoff you had begs got the I think it was bags Maybe it was neighbors number two.

If

they get sucked in one cut back, it's a game changer.

And that's what we noticed on that kickoff.

There was a couple other plays too where your defensive guys didn't bite on those crossing patterns and try calling you backfield.

You've got to be impressed with, I would think like eight guys touched the ball in your

backfield.

Yeah, I'm happy with everyone right now.

You know, obviously we'll watch film.

It's never as good as you think.

It never as bad as you think.

I'm sure we'll we'll find things we need to evaluate and work on and Go from there.

Well, it's a nice 36 nothing victory though.

Yes.

Yes, it is and at home nice to open the season with a shout out against the Quality opponent.

Yeah, you know, they're gonna have success this year.

Yeah

Two quick strikes at Hainan one on a run 54 yard run third play of the game Then you come right back to them on a nice dude.

We thrown pass by by Cottle and the 16 nothing and you guys are in control

Yeah That's that's the whole break to get up early and control the game from there I was

surprised they went for them fourth and long with 26 seconds to go And that's I you know, we're sitting there talking you can't give really the ball in the 2040 yard Yeah,

they kind of gave you a gift there, but if you took advantage of it, that's the big thing Yeah, you know you took advantage of it.

But so

what's up for you next?

So we have a will be no Leona coming up here.

So we'll get this film evaluated and

All of our attention is going to be focused on them.

Two tough ones back-to-back.

Yes, two very tough ones.

Right now, it's focused on, we'll be in only one, and we're able to fill up the following week.

Yeah, both on Thursday nights, couple Thursday night games to start the season.

Well, you know, no refs.

That's what it is.

That's what I figured it was.

Yeah, there's so many teams in the area and not enough refs, but Thursday and Friday will be popular games.

Yeah.

All right.

All

right, thank you.

Great game.

Nice game, coach.

Thank you.

All right.

Thank you, coach, for said of being the victorious Firling North Stars, 36-nothing as they defeat Tri-County, new director to 1-0, and Tri-County falls to 0-1.

What else can we say about this game that has not been

set?

Not much, you know.

Just basically carry this momentum to the next game, work on a few things, like coach said.

You've got to come out and, you know, this game is behind you now.

It's a victory, but it's behind you.

You've got to get ready for your next opponent, and that'll be quick.

It comes up quick, just like this football season comes up.

The one thing we were going to talk about, we didn't, was the center snap.

Yeah.

We were going to

do that.

Yeah.

But he's seen that enough, so he's worked out.

And it seemed like he did.

It got better in the second half.

It was much better.

Much better.

So, well, I enjoyed.

the game tonight, a good victory, nice night to have football, decent crowd rolled in.

Yep, so we're going to take another one minute break and then we're going to come back with our smart choice of the game and we'll have that after this message.

And you know, when it's 36 nothing and there's a running clock in the second half,

The smart choice of the game has to come early in the game.

We have to look

back in the first half.

And I just think Chris said they ran a lot last year.

This offense they're running with multiple guys in the backfield.

They can interchange it.

It's such a nice offense.

It's just their game plan.

Going into this ball game to mix things up and do that direct snap.

I like that.

You don't know who's getting the ball.

Defense.

Can't key on just a quarterback because he may not get the wall and right there's just running that very good right now Mm-hmm Try Tony probably not one of the more powerful teams are gonna play this year.

We'll see how this works out next week for them and Phillips But that's that's our smart choice of the game

the game play game

plan.

Yep game plan was great So we'll give it to the whole team.

That's what it was coaches and team.

Yes coaches for calling it players for running it executing.

Try toning nothing for Luke.

Doing a great job.

Can't

say enough about

him.

If it wasn't for Luke, we would not even be on the air.

Thank you.

And for Joe, great doing our first football game
