Here's your daily news roundup from 97.9 WGBW.

For Civic Media News, I'm Connie Feldman.

Thousands of Wisconsinites took to the streets over the weekend for no-kings protests all around our state, part of a nationwide day of action Saturday's events focused on encouraging people to vote early for the upcoming midterm elections.

Demonstrators marched from the Wisconsin State Capitol to the City Municipal Building in Madison in Milwaukee.

People gathered at Cathedral Square Park where organizers say the message was loud and clear.

Be ready and get out there before November 3rd.

Green Bay's No Kings event was at the historic City Stadium where the Packers played before there was such a thing as Lambeau Field.

And Lambeau Field certainly made its presence known last night as the Packers hosted the Dallas Cowboys for primetime Sunday night football.

The pack had enough momentum coming off their win over rivals Chicago Bears to lasso the Cowboys last night.

Now the pack heads to Detroit to take on the Lions this Sunday.

Kickoff is set for 325.

A family argument turned deadly in Racine over the weekend.

Racine police say family members were yelling during an argument around three in the morning yesterday.

They say a 63-year-old female family member came home during the argument and fired a gun hitting a 30-year-old man.

Authorities say the man died at the scene from a gunshot wound to the head.

Officers arrested the female at the scene.

Formal charges of first-degree intentional homicide are being referred to the Racine County District Attorney's Office.

University of Wisconsin-Madison students are calling for stronger sexual violence prevention measures on campus.

Students gathered Friday at Library Mall to support survivors and demand improved campus safety.

The rally gave survivors an opportunity to share their experiences publicly or anonymously.

The university says it plans to add a new violence prevention position with its office of fraternity and sorority life.

A campus sexual assault climate survey is also planned for the spring of 2020.

One person is dead after a UTV crash in Wapaka County over the weekend.

Wapaka County Sheriff's deputies say the crash happened in the town of Union on Simcoe Road.

Two people were on the UTV, but no other vehicles were involved.

Both people were airlifted to ThetaCare Medical Center in Nina, where one person was pronounced dead.

Authorities have not released the condition of the other person.

All aboard for Wisconsin's growth as a $218 million federal rail grant rolls onto new tracks between Madison and Chicago.

The new Chicago to Madison extension is poised to inject $46 million in annual economic benefits across the state.

State transportation leaders say that means 200 new jobs and a steady stream of tourists stepping off the train and into local shops, restaurants and hotels.

From better freight reliability for farmers to fresh foot traffic for small businesses, comfortable travel means confident commerce.

Wisconsin dairy processors couldn't get up to $50,000 to help with projects involving food safety, employee training, plant expansion or modernization, and consulting services.

State egg workers say the grants are meant to help processors improve profitability and support the long-term future of dairy processing in Wisconsin.

Applications are due by noon,

November 3rd.

Wisconsin's two candidates for governor are preparing to face off in the only gubernatorial debate set for this Wednesday night.

Republican Tom Tiffany says his message will be consistent with what he's been saying on the campaign trail, focusing on affordability.

Democrat David Crowley says he's focused on delivering for hard-working families and wants the debate to show voters a clear contrast between his commitment to those families and what he calls Tiffany's willingness to do the bidding of billionaire donors.

The debate is scheduled to air on your local ABC affiliate starting at 7 p.m.

this Wednesday, October 21.

And that's your state news update.

The Packers dominate the Cowboys.

Hi, I'm Mike Clemens with Sports NFL.

The final score was Green Bay 23 to 13, but the Packers defense smothered the Cowboys offense.

Safety Evan Williams, who had an interception on how they shut down quarterback Dak Prescott.

Yeah, we showed some good looks.

I feel like throughout the game we showed some a lot of zero looks.

A lot of you know, high pressure looks and yeah, I was able to kind of speed his clock up, which yeah led to some good things for

us.

College football, the Wisconsin Badgers lost to UC.

17 to 7 Saturday night head coach Luke Fickle.

But we didn't play real well tonight.

That's for sure and I'll take the heat on that.

Like there's no way you're going to go on the road and have as many penalties and play as undisciplined as as we did and think you're going to meet a really good

football team.

Wisconsin now four and two baseball.

The Brewers wait to see who they'll play in the World Series.

The Rays lead the American League Series three games to two after beating the Guardians three to one.

Game six is tonight in Tampa with.

sports on Mike Clemens.

Hi meteorologist Brandon Bormans.

A quiet start to the work week with sunny skies and far less of a breeze, high temps and the comfortable lower 60s.

Some patchy fog possible later tonight, otherwise partly cloudy, a low near 44, some fog in the morning on Tuesday, then mostly sunny with a high near 63.
