It's most common on your fingers, toes, nose and ears and frostbite may lead to permanent irreversible tissue damage.
A way to prevent it is to limit your time outdoors and warm your body up often if you're exposed to freezing temperatures.
And if you believe that you have frostbite, go inside or seek shelter from the cold.
Then, call your healthcare provider or visit the emergency room immediately to reduce your risk of tissue damage.
Frostbite symptoms appear in three stages that include feeling cold, sore and painful, which is frost nip.
Then, pins and needles which is surface frostbite and the last numbness indicates a deep frostbite.
Believe it or not, the deadline to file to run for office in the next election is coming up soon.

Are you interested in running for school board or any local nonpartisan office this spring?
Now is the time to get your paperwork in.
Dan Rossmiller of the Wisconsin Association of School Boards explains what you'll need to file before January 7th.
They'll have to provide their name and address and swear that they're a candidate for office and at the time that they complete that document,
they're going to meet the applicable age, citizenship, residency and voting qualifications and requirements.
They'll also have to file a campaign finance registration statement in some school districts, nomination papers are required.
Those have to be circulated and filed with the other papers and that deadline is the first Tuesday in January, which in 2025 falls on January 7th.
If you missed the deadline, you have until noon on March 28th to register as a write-in.
Protecting your personal information and finances from fraudsters gets harder each year.

Resolve to be cautious with email.
Be wary of any unsolicited emails.
Resolve to never send money to strangers.
Research before making online payments and purchases.
Resolve to never share personal information with a stranger.
Resolve to create strong, unique passwords for each account that you have and resolve to be social media smart.
Finally, check your financial statements regularly and educate yourself on the latest scams.
High school football coaches in Wisconsin are pitching a plan to change how the postseason works here.

A proposal to change how Wisconsin High School football teams qualify for the playoffs and are organized by division has overwhelming support from coaches.
The Wisconsin Football Coaches Association says of the 400 head coaches responding to a survey, 350 of them, or 87.5%, support the WFCA's proposal, which would eliminate computer algorithms from the playoff process.
This year the WIA admitted it made mistakes in setting the playoff field, leaving out Madison West and Greenfield.
Now the plan goes to committee and could be up for a vote as soon as February for implementation as soon as the fall of 2025.
According to WIA data, there are approximately 425 high school football programs in Wisconsin, of which 240 make the playoffs.
The next step is it coaches advisory committee meeting on January 7th.
Police are still looking for 47-year-old Virgil Thieu in connection with the triple homicide in New Lisbon.
He was last seen on December 29th wearing a dark colored downcoat, blue jeans, and a hat.
Virgil should be considered armed and dangerous. Do not confront him. Call 911 if you have any information.
Snowmobile races are coming to our area. The Snowdrifter's vintage snowmobile show will be on Saturday, January 18th from 93 in Vesper.
Registration is at the Vesper Community Center from 8 to 11 a.m.
After a little rescheduling, the Arpan X Vintage Snowcross race is set for Saturday, February 1st, beginning at 10 a.m.
Racers must be 16 years and older, and it's a $10 admission fee. Kids under 12 get in free.

Wisconsin's only endangered mammal, the Martin, will soon be getting some help.
The federal government has awarded the Great Lakes Indian Fish and Wildlife Commission more than $800,000 to help protect the population.
Jonathan Polly is a professor of forest and wildlife ecology at UW-Madison. He says,
civil cultural practices and logging within local national forests altered Martin's preferred habitats.
This work is really trying to understand how do we manage habitat in a meaningful way on these working landscapes
to increase Martin habitat and connectivity of these different sub-populations to ensure Martin's are here for the foreseeable future.
Polly says the grant money will bring together a diverse group of folks from the federal, state, tribal, and academic levels over four years
to create a forest management proposal with recommended habitat improvements for Martin recovery in Wisconsin.
The project will also include training for future biologists and ecologists.

Hi, I'm Mike Clemens with sports, cornerback, Jair Alexander suffered a knee injury back in October against the Jaguars.
Packers head coach Matt LaFour asked if there were any updates.
Yeah, I would expect, uh, most likely he's going to be done for the rest of the year.
Is that the injury related?
Yes.
So you have a surgery?
Uh, yes.
Alexander had his right knee scoped on Tuesday.
A report says he could be back by mid-February.

People seem to notice the variety of well-reviewed films playing at the box office currently,
and headed to the big screen over the weekend.
Sonic the Hedgehog Part 3 took the top spot at the gate with $38 million,
and is currently at $137 million in its first two weeks in theaters.
The Lion King's Mufasa took a close second place with $37 million in change in its second week,
and is showing some good word of mouth as it is actually outperforming its haul from last week.
People also wanted a little whore over their holiday as newcomer Nosferatu, which opened on Christmas Day,
surprised prognosticators by pulling in 40 million over five days and 21 million over the weekend.
Wicked in Moana 2 rounded out the top five with Wicked pulling in 19 and a half million bucks,
and Moana 2 pulling in just over 18 million.
Also opening on Christmas Day was the new Bob Dylan biopic, a complete unknown,
which pulled in 23 million over five days and finished in sixth place last weekend with $11.6 million.

Those are the words of Gail Gadot, who recently gave birth to her fourth daughter.
The drama surrounding the birth was right out of a movie script as the actress revealed that
during the eighth month of her pregnancy, an MRI showed a massive blood clot in her brain.
Gadot was rushed into surgery and during the operation gave birth to her daughter Ori.
49-year-old actress says the name means my light and that it was appropriate as Hanukkah is a celebration of light and miracles.
Golden Globes host Nikki Glazer might have a furrowed brow through this year's broadcast.
You can chalk that up to bad timing, as the comedian was planning on getting plastic surgery,
but had to reschedule once she got the gig.
Glazer says she was planning on getting a brow lift, but her agent advised her to wait until after the Golden Globes.
Translation?
Instead of looking surprised when she reads the nominees, she'll look grumpy.

Former President Jimmy Carter passed away this past weekend at the age of 100.
Many remember Carter for his decency, endless service to humankind, which included his involvement with Habitat for Humanity.
But what most people don't know is that he was also related to Motown Records founder Barry Gordy.
Gordy said that in 1978 his sister Esther did some digging into their family tree.
Gordy says he was filled with shock and pride when he found out that he and Carter were actually third cousins.
There's as much drama off-screen surrounding actress Blake Lively and actor director Justin Baldone
as there was on-screen for their film It Ends With Us.
Following Lively's lawsuit, claiming Baldone sexually assaulted her and launched a smear campaign against her,
Baldone is filing a counter suit, claiming Lively and her team launched a smear campaign against him.
Does anything good ever come from a Hollywood smear campaign?
