A 38-year-old man is under arrest for suspicion of first degree intentional homicide in the
death of a 28-year-old woman from Marshfield.
The Price County Sheriff's Office is investigating after finding the body of Blanca, Hacina Hernandez,
a long-state highway 13 in the township of Hacnet on November 3.
The cause of her death is being investigated as being related to a domestic violence incident.
Police arrested a 38-year-old man on November 11 in connection to Hernandez put the careros death.
The investigation is ongoing and there is no threat to the community.
The Department of Natural Resources is warning residents that a couple of new invasive species may be heading this way.
According to a Facebook post, the DNR is warning about the hemlock woolly and balsam woolly
Udeljid moving through Michigan.
The insects have not been found in Wisconsin yet but residents should be on the lookout as they target
hemlock and fur trees.
An infected tree would look stunted with swollen branches as the insects use toxic saliva on the trees
that also cause needles to become discolored and fall.
If you're a farm worker or worked in a meat-packing plant during the COVID-19 pandemic,
you can apply for the food and farm workers relief program.
This provides a single $600 direct relief payment.
If you need help filling out the application, you can get assistance on Friday, November 15th,
at the former East junior high school cafeteria in Wisconsin Rapids from noon to 6 p.m.
They will also have flu vaccines available to all community members six months and older.
You will need to register for the food and farm workers relief application assistance.

The Wisconsin Public Service Commission voted last week to approve rate increases in 2025 and again in 2026.
About 1.5 million natural gas users statewide and roughly 1.6 million electricity users in eastern Wisconsin
will be impacted by the increases.
Preliminary estimates show the average residential we energies customer will pay about $17 more for electricity
and between $4 and $9 more for gas per month by 2026.
The average WPS customer will see rates go up roughly $12 for electricity and $4 for gas over the same time period.
The Public Service Commission expects to finalize the rate increase amounts by the end of this year.
The Wisconsin Supreme Court heard arguments yesterday regarding the 1849 abortion law, Stuart J. Wattles has the story.
After arguments yesterday, the state Supreme Court seems likely to strike down the 1849 abortion law.
Just as Joe Karovsky warned that keeping the old law could harm women and children in the state.
The state attorney general argued that newer abortion laws have replaced the old one.
A lawyer for Shaboykin County argued that the 1849 law is still valid.
There are several blood drive scheduled in our area before we hit high gear with the holiday season.
The Red Cross is asking you to gather your friends and be there for patients by making a blood or platelet donation.
They are celebrating 30 years since the iconic show Friends first aired by giving friends plus Red Cross socks,
while supplies last for any donations made from November 18th through December 8th.
You get two pairs, one to keep and one to gift.
You can donate with the Red Cross at the Stevens Point Blood Donation Center.
They have multiple donation dates and times.

The Wisconsin Rapids Raptors have two new front office members joining their team.
Gwen Philippi is the new communications relation and sales manager,
and Connor Philippi is the new marketing and media manager.
This will be Gwen's first year working with the Northwoods League.
She has experience in sales and event planning and is looking forward to connecting with the community
to bring a great fan experience to Raptor fans.
Connor will be in his second season with the Northwoods League.
He said he's ready to lead the production crew to give fans a great viewing experience.
Nearly 38 million Americans live with diabetes.
November is diabetes month and a time to bring attention to the challenges facing diabetics.
One of those is hypoglycemia.
Hypoglycemia is when your blood sugar falls really low,
and this can lead to many health complications.
That's a spirus pharmacy resident, Rebecca Tao.
She said hypoglycemia can happen for many reasons.
One reason is that your body might produce too much insulin,
or if you are on insulin therapy.
Insulin is a hormone that your pancreas make that helps us use sugar
for energy.
Symptoms can vary, but you should know what to look for,
as dangerously low blood sugar levels can pose immediate health risks if left unaddressed.
Common signs of symptoms to look for are if you are feeling shaky,
if you are feeling hunger,
also if you have like a fast heartbeat or if you are feeling dizziness.
Rebecca said if you're feeling these symptoms,
you should check your blood sugar level if you can.
Then you should follow the rule of 15.
Consume 15 grams of fast acting carbohydrates,
wait 15 minutes, then check your blood sugar again and repeat if necessary.
It's important to listen to your body and know how to respond to low blood sugar episodes.
President-elect Donald Trump has promised mass deportation of illegal immigrants on day one of his presidency,
but that's not what a majority of Americans want.
Polls show about 65% of Americans across party lines want lawmakers to create a path for citizenship
for the country's 11 million undocumented immigrants.
Jennifer Piper, with the American Friends Service Committee,
points to a series of so-called Show Your Papers laws.
Colorado had them from 2006 to 2013,
which led to some of the highest deportation numbers in the nation.
We already know what the policies of mass deportation look like intimately,
and what we found is our businesses suffered, our schools suffered, our kids suffered.
Here in Wisconsin, undocumented immigrants pay more than 1 million per year in state and local taxes.
The University of Maryland pulled people across swing states.
It found that here in Wisconsin, 63% of people prefer creating paths to citizenship over mass deportations
for law abiding undocumented residents.
It showed even a majority of Wisconsin Republicans would rather see immigrants become citizens, not be forced to leave.
Experts say mass deportation could cost more than 1 billion dollars.
Wisconsin's threat reporting tip line, Speak Up Speak Out,
or SUSO for short, has received more than 40% more tips since the previous year.
Here's civic media's Derek Tritz.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice released their annual report,
which shows how many times threats or concerning behavior were reported to them.
Since SUSO's inception in 2020, bullying has consistently remained the number one tip,
which is also common on a national scale.
The tip line allows schools to be aware of these incidents,
and intervene early before things escalate, and potentially become violent.

because he is a very busy guy.
The rock also admitted to peeing into water bottles to save time,
where to the wise, if you're working on a set on a Dwayne Johnson film,
bring a book to read, and keep your water on your person.

The actress will start in a film called The Runner from Amazon MGM Studios.
The thriller is set in London, where Gadot's character,
a lawyer, attempts to rescue her abducted son while getting clues
and cryptic messages from a mysterious caller.
Sounds fun.
The project is in the early stages of development, with no release date set.
Beyoncé might have been disappointed with her response from the country music awards,
but when it comes to Grammy nominations, she's at the top.
Variety reports that Beyoncé has been nominated for 11 Grammys,
including artist, song, and album of the year for Cowboy Carter.
Our behind are some other heavy hitters, including, you guessed it,
Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, Billie Eilish,
and new kid on the block, Shuffle Rowne.
Rowne and Carpenter also up for best new artist of the year,
looks like I got shot out again.
Taylor shared and apparently decided he does not have enough shows on TV,
so he is teaming up with Blake Shelton for a new music reality show.
The road will follow a big time music star around the country
and search for the next big musical talent.
Deadline reports competing artists will have the opportunity to open
for an a-lister in various towns to win over crowds.
The music superstar who will lead the search has not yet been revealed.
The road will launch in the fall of 2025 on CBS.
The announcement seems like only a matter of time,
but there will be a sequel to the prequel known as Wonka.
The 2023 film, starring Timothy Chalamet,
was one of the top 10 highest grossing films of 2023,
so the announcement was more a question of when, not if.
Director Paul King says the script is in the early stages
and will take place before Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,
and he might incorporate some exotic locations
where they have to search for secret ingredients.
The film, Tremors from 1990, is getting a reboot.
The team behind the horror flick, which was at times pretty funny,
has re-acquired the rights to their script and are contemplating
how to approach another crack at the franchise,
according to JoeBlow.com.
Yes, that's a real sight.
The original film took place in a small Nevada town
that saw residents terrified of Greboids.
Kevin Bacon, who was in the original, has shown interest in the sequel.
