A 34-year-old man is dead after a car and semi-collided on Friday morning in Adams County.
The initial investigation shows 34-year-old Glenn Tosh of Grand Marsh failed to yield at a stop sign
while traveling on County Highway B in the township of Del Prairie.
Tosh's vehicle collided with a semi heading eastbound on State Highway 23.
Life-saving attempts were made by first responders, however Glenn Tosh died from his injuries.
He was the only person in the vehicle.
This semi-truck driver was transported to the local hospital with minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation and no further information will be released at this time.
When a new charter school opens in Wisconsin, there's about a 50-50 chance that it closes
within the next five years.
Here's Savannah, Tomay Olsen.
Wisconsin has one of the higher closure rates in the U.S. for charter schools.
A new report from the Center for Charter School Accountability shows nationally 25% of them
close within the first five years.
Here in Wisconsin, it's over 45%.
Charter schools get public funding but are usually run by private entities.
They're often built as alternatives for families who want more options.
What do you do when that school you handpicked is set to close?
Jenny Hofschulte of the Wisconsin Public Education Network.
That's 45% of those families put into a lurch and having to make pivots and new choices for their children.
She says traditional public schools are happy to welcome these kids back,
but local districts often have to move really fast to place them.
Wisconsin currently has more than 200 registered charter schools.
Trick or treat hours in Wisconsin Rapids are five to seven on Thursday.
You can stop in at the library from 430 to 730 to show off your costumes.
The Henry Girls will be entertaining in the Fine Arts Center beginning at seven.
Early Saturday morning volunteers gathered at the Grand Rapids Lions Club
for a hearty breakfast of pancakes and fruit before heading out to rake yards in the area.
United Ways Day of Caring had over 460 volunteers.
They raked 88 yards for elderly and disabled in our community.
Many of the volunteers have been participating for several years.
We've been doing this for three or four years.
It was the first year for other volunteers,
and they were impressed with the organization and turnout for the event.
Ben Eberline is the community engagement director for the United Way
and one of the main organizers for the event.
He said this might be a record year for volunteers,
but he still needs to compare the numbers.
Some groups were finished as early as noon,
and others worked closer to 2pm.
One volunteer said the homeowners are delighted to see their yards cleared of leaves
and are very thankful for the help.
They're so grateful, and you know, they say,
oh my gosh, you guys did a great job,
and we're so appreciative,
and we couldn't have done it without help like you,
so it's very rewarding.
The weather was perfect for everyone working on this day,
showing caring in our community.
The average gas prices in Wisconsin fell 6.7 cents during the last week.
The average across the state today is 287 per gallon.
This is over 21 cents lower than a month ago,
and more than 31 cents lower than this time last year.
Gas is at its lowest level since January,
which some Americans attribute to the upcoming election.
Officials at gas buddies say politicians have little influence over gasoline prices.
The switch to winter gas and the drop in demand is pushing gas prices down.
Officials say these drops will continue into and even beyond the election
as colder weather arrives.
Gas prices in central Wisconsin today range from 257 to 277 per gallon.
U.S. Senator Ron Johnson appeared to hedge on Friday,
whether he or Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump
would accept the outcome of the November election.
I sure hope so, and unfortunately,
you're here in state of Wisconsin that we have a governor who vetoed the types of bills
that would restore confidence in our election system.
So you're asking me a hypothetical question that I really can't answer
because I don't know how many different ways Democrats are going to want to cheat.
Despite a statewide inquiry in 2021,
there has been no credible evidence of systematic voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election.
Johnson widely seen as a staunch ally of Trump defended the former president's campaign
and his proposals during an appearance on the Earl Ingram show on Friday morning.

Veterans from our area flew out of the central Wisconsin airport early this morning
on Honor Flight No. 50.
They're headed to Washington, D.C. to spend the day visiting memorials dedicated to their service
as well as the Arlington National Cemetery.
This is a memorable day for these honored veterans.
If you want to give them the welcome home they never received when they returned from war,
you can head to the central Wisconsin airport in Mozini
between 8 and 9 pm tonight for their return between 10 and 11 pm.

There's still time to donate coats to the Kiwanis Coats for Kids Drive.
There are drop-off sites at the Wood County Sheriff's Department,

Blood donors are needed ahead of the holiday season.
The Red Cross has worked this month to recover from cancelled blood collections
because of the recent hurricanes.
These disruptions to blood drives can lead to an impact on routine
and life-saving medical care.
If you're eligible to donate, especially if you have type O-blood
or can give platelets, you're encouraged to make a donation.
As a thank you, if you donate with the Red Cross by October 31,
you'll receive a $10 Amazon gift card.
Those who donate between November 1 through the 17th
will receive a $10 E gift card to a merchant of your choice.
You can donate at Nikusa High School on October 30,
and there are many dates and times available for donation
at the Stevens Point Blood Donation Center.

Historic Point Boss held their second weekend
of the annual Spirit Walk on Saturday night.
Visitors gathered to be led on a lantern-guided tour
around the grounds.
Spirits regaled them with stories of the past
as they entered several buildings during the tour.
The next event at Historic Point Boss will be their heritage holiday
on December 7.
The author of the book Tailspin will be at Crossview Church
in Wisconsin Rapids tonight at 630.
John Armbruster's book Tailspin recounts the story of Jean Moran,
who was a tail gunner and World War II.
Moran's plane was hit and he fell four miles to the ground
while in the tail of the plane.
Moran was a prisoner of war in Nazi Germany
and survived a 600-mile death march across Central Europe.

Despite a prolific run that has spanned decades,
actor Liam Neeson says he is done with the action film genre.
The 72-year-old actor and star of the Taken films,
among many others, says age is catching up with him.
But the fact that he has made so many action movies is remarkable.
And even more remarkable, that they all have pretty much the same plot
in which he seeks revenge on those who threaten or kill his family members.
The genius is that he gets his revenge from film to film by changing locations.
Various cities, countries, cars, trains, planes, and even a snow plow.
If you're looking for a film that is some action but is a little more plausible,
check out in the land of saints and sinners from 2023.
Not a bad watch.
Speaking of old white guys, season 2 of the old man wrapped
with a cliffhanger last week and Jeff Bridges is already hitting at a season 3.
Bridges plays CIA operative Dan Chase on the FX show,
which drew two primetime Emmy nominations.
It seems like it's taken forever, but there might be a Speed 3.
See what I did there?
In a recent chat with the Hollywood Reporter,
20th Century Studios Steve Asbel gave the movie going public hope
when it comes to more sequels destined for the big screen in the near future.
Asbel says he is open to Speed 3 if it's a great idea,
but that the studio will definitely pursue another alien
and says there will be a new predator film in theaters in 2025 as well.
Asbel also added, there would be most likely another alien versus predator.
Thanks, but not really necessary, Steve.
Looking for something new to watch as the Halloween season winds down?

It took me a while to warm up to it, but it is a good show and keeps you guessing.
Vince Vaughn basically plays himself, but this time he's named Andrew Yancy,
a disgrace detective in Miami, trying to solve a case in which a severed arm is found
with the middle finger of the hand extended.
A funny gimmick, but the story unfolds nicely and the characters are interesting.
Give it a watch.
Fight Club fans, I'm sure there are still a few out there,
will be happy to know that the film is getting a remaster.
That's right, you can now watch Tyler Durden wail on himself in 4K.
The Hollywood Reporter says the updated film will also get a re-release in November
according to director David Fincher.
The 1999 film starring Edward Norton, Brad Pitt and Helena Bottom Carter
and put Fincher on the map as a commercially viable directing talent.
Fight Club didn't knock the socks off the box office during its initial release,
but it has since become a cult classic.
Those of you who may experience Yellowstone withdrawal have a new western to look forward to thanks to Netflix.
Territory is a new Australian drama set in the Outback.
Think Yellowstone with a dash of crocodile Dundee.
According to the Wrap.com, the show has got billionaires,
cattle bear and rivals, cattle thieves, and old-wise indigenous elders.
The show stars Robert Taylor and Michael Dorman.
Season one will consist of six episodes.
