We in Wisconsin have had some of the lowest unemployment rates that we've ever had with the most
people working. The president is hearing from people in blue wall battlegrounds
say this week about how they've benefited from the administration's investing in America agenda.
The Better Business Bureau is warning about bad actors impersonating political campaigns,
polls and nonprofits pressuring you for personal information.
If you do fall victim to a scam and end up giving the money or information, you can contact
the FTC or the attorney general's office. This can be great resources to do something about it.
Meredith Radford says legitimate campaigns and pollsters won't ask for social security numbers
or bank account information. Conditions at Wisconsin's youth prisons are improving. A new report
shows Lincoln Hills and Copper Lake schools are meeting most court-ordered improvements.
Those include fewer restraints and no more strip searches. The state plans to close both
lockups and build a new youth prison in Milwaukee by 2026. There's a new push to legalize medical
marijuana in Wisconsin. Native American tribal leaders are behind what they call the Wisconsin
Wellness Initiative. A bill in the state assembly to create state-run medical marijuana
dispensaries died last session in the state Senate. Milwaukee County leaders are considering
ways to save an iconic Wisconsin landmark that needs a lot of TLC. A group called Friends
of the Mitchell Park Domes is proposing a six-year rehabilitation project in two stages.
The work would cost more than $100 million. The group wants Milwaukee County taxpayers to pay 30
million of that. Friday night's Packer Game can only be seen on NBC's Peacock Streaming app for
the most part. That is, if you don't live in Green Bay or Milwaukee where you can watch it on your
local NBC affiliate, the Packers take on the Philadelphia Eagles in São Paulo, Brazil.

For WFHR and WIRI News, I'm Melissa Kay. The man who shot at officers in Wisconsin Rapids on August
20th has been placed on a $2.11 million cash bond. Clinton, M. Mayotte, age 40, shot at officers
while trying to run from them. The sheriff's department stated in a release that Mayotte was shooting
to kill. Thankfully, no officers were struck or injured during this violent act that spanned
over several miles. Mayotte was shot by an officer after a standoff on a roof in the early
hours of August 20th. Officers treated Mayotte on the scene, then transported him to the hospital.
Sheriff Sean Becker asks, if you know a person showing violent tendencies, please report them
to law enforcement so preventative measures can take place. The DNR would like you to report if
you see frogs, salamanders, lizards or snakes crossing the road. You can submit a report and
photo at dnr.wi.gov to help save herb tiles. People in Nikusa and the surrounding area have
spoken and County Trunk Highway AA will not be closed permanently. A meeting was held in late
August at the Nikusa Community Center. Wood County Highway Department Commissioner Roland Hock
said the message was clear. We got a pretty clear message that folks in the area would like to
see County Trunk AA remain open. The culvert that Lynn Creek runs through on its way to the
Wisconsin River is failing. Hock said they want to replace it with a bridge. He's pursuing options
to secure funding. So we're looking at about a million dollar project. The earliest it could be
added to the schedule is next year. They understand that might take a little time but we did get a
clear message that they'd like to be at replacement and open up at some point here in the near future.

the most common injuries are caused by falling out of tree stands. You're much more likely to get
injured from a fall than you are from a gunshot wound. That's Dr. Michael Clark and MD, MPH and EMS
Medical Director with Aspirus Medevac. He said falls from over 10 feet tend to result in more
severe injuries. Joseph Mulroney is a recreation warden with the Wisconsin DNR. He said it's
important to inspect your gear before you go out to hunt. You don't want the first time getting
your tree stand the first time you're looking at your straps, looking at your equipment. So do
it ahead of the season. Following safety guidelines can significantly reduce the risk of injury
and ensure a safe hunting season. Stripes are cheap, a broken leg isn't.

United Way of Southwood and Adams counties kicks off their 2024 campaign. It'll run through
October 31st. There are multiple ways to participate. They have their $1,000 sweepstakes again
this year. You can join in your workplace campaign, eat at McDonald's on September 25th or volunteer
on the day of caring on October 26th. You can find out more at uwac.org.
Children across Wisconsin are back in school this week. Wisconsin law enforcement agencies are
asking drivers to keep those children in mind by being alert and cautious, putting down the phone,
obeying posted speed limits and sharing the road with young pedestrians. According to research
by the National Safety Council, most of the children who lose their lives and school bus related
incidents are four to seven years old and they're walking. Be sure to watch for students crossing

The NFL season begins tonight. Hi, I'm Jimmy Cusco with sports filling in for my
Clements. Tonight, the Baltimore Ravens and the Kansas City Chiefs kick off the season.
Tomorrow night, it'll be the Green Bay Packers versus the Philadelphia Eagles.
Head Coach Matt LaFleur said that the team's focus has been on their opponent and not the travel.
We're focused on Philadelphia. The circumstances are such and if you draw your attention elsewhere,
then I think you're doing yourself a disservice. So we're going to keep our focus on Philly. It's a
really good football team and they've they've shown a level of consistency over the last couple
of years that's tough to deal with. So they got a lot of star power over there. They've added more
players this off season. Cornerback Jordan Love is entering his second season as a starter and
is excited for the opportunity to open the year in Brazil. I'm excited. I definitely think it's
it's a very cool opportunity to be able to play in front of a fan base who a lot of those people
might not have seen the NFL game like the first in the field game. So I'm excited for it and like
you said, first one. So it'll be very exciting. Kickoff for the Packers and Eagles is after 7 p.m.
tomorrow night. For the third time in four games, the Milwaukee Brewers had to play a game in
extra innings and in all three of those games, including last night, the Brewers lost. The St. Louis
Cardinals took the game in 10 innings with a 3-2 win. Both St. Louis and the Chicago Cubs gained a
game on the Brewers in the NL Central standings where Milwaukee leads by nine games. The Brewers are
off today before playing a three game home series against Colorado this weekend. Fiddling in for

a movie about former President Donald Trump called the apprentice will see the late of day
and be released in October despite threats and legal challenges by the former president's
campaign to squash the film. Producer Dan Beckerman recently sat down with Deadline.com and said
the film was well received at the Con Film Festival and that the former president's campaign did
not react well to news that there was a controversial sexual assault scene involving Trump and his
first wife Ivana. The producer said the main finance are pulled out of the project due to Trump's
threats, forcing the production to start a crowdfunding campaign to complete financing.

The director of Edward Scissor Hands in Beetlejuice was surrounded by a support group which included

in front of the bookstore on Hollywood Boulevard where he spent his childhood, oftentimes taking

info spilled on podcasts? During his dinners on me podcast, modern family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson
told the story of his co-star, Eric Stone Street's love of what he thought was cheese. The cast of
the show was in Paris shooting an episode for the 11th season. Ferguson said his co-star was
wolfing down blocks of Parisian butter, thinking it was not only cheese, but according to Ferguson,
the best cheese he's ever had. He even asked a server to keep it coming. The waiter did as asked
