A man accused and his wife's death 10 years ago has pleaded not guilty to an upgrade or charge in Chono County Court.
James Radford previously pleaded not guilty to reckless homicide, but on Thursday the charge was upgraded to first-degree intentional homicide.
Radford entered a new plea of not guilty to the upgraded charge.
According to the criminal complaint, Radford called deputies in April of 2016, saying his wife Sabrina had shot herself.
At the time, investigators couldn't confirm how she died.
The sheriff says new forensic tools, expert reviews, and fresh interviews now show her death was not a suicide.
Prosecutors say the evidence at the scene didn't match Radford's story.
The next court hearing in the case is set for November 20th at 9.45 a.m.
Flooding Thursday morning damaged a Fond du Lac apartment building, displacing eight people.
three cats and two dogs.
Fondle-like fire and rescue crews were dispatched to 92 Forest Avenue for flooding caused by a roof-related issue.
It resulted in standing water throughout all three floors of the building, impacting multiple apartment units.
Several units were evacuated while the building inspector and utility crews assessed safety.
Eight apartments were deemed uninhabitable.
The Red Cross and County Emergency Management were notified to support sheltering needs.
Ultimately, all residents were able to secure temporary accommodations on their own.
No injuries were reported.
The use of lead-based paint in homes was banned in 1978, yet it remains the top cause for lead poisoning in children.
Bob Nelson reports for Civic Media News.
Most of the time when we are kind of assessing kids' lead levels that are a little high, we find that about 90% of the time it is in children that were exposed to lead-based paint.
Kim Miller is fond of Lake County's public health officer.
She says children younger than six years of age are at highest risk.
of developing lead poisoning.
Their brains and nervous systems are still developing and also they frequently put their hands and objects in their mouths.
Use of soap and water to wash children's hands and toys is recommended, especially before they eat and sleep.
The Fond du Laie County Health Department has a lead program in which nurses work with families to determine the source of poisoning.
Effects can easily be reversed with the end of exposure to lead.
A blood lead test at your doctor's office or clinic can determine if your child is suffering from lead poisoning.
This week is National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week.

Officials with Wisconsin's Department of Transportation are seeing an increase in reports of car dealerships being impersonated by scammers online.
Michelle Ryden is the administrator for the state's Division of Trade and Consumer Protection.
She says the DOT this year is receiving an average of one dealer clone complaint every week.
The total losses to the scams reported to the DOT exceed $1.2 million with some individuals losing over $100,000.
Rynan says red flags for the phony dealership online sites and subsequent scam include vehicles being sold far below market value and the website was created recently even when the dealer claims to have been in business for many years.
There will also be errors in spelling a grammar on an official website or social media profile and the dealer pushes shipping and delivery of vehicles but discourages in-person visits.
She recommends researching dealerships ahead of time
never paying in an alternative form of payment or irreversible payment method and pressing for a motor vehicle purchase contract which is required by Wisconsin law.
Nailight saving time ends Sunday at 2 a.m.
and clocks will fall back an hour to standard time.
With that time change, Wisconsin Emergency Management officials say it's a good time to make sure your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are in good working order.
They should be tested and batteries replaced if they require it.
You should also check the manufacturing date.
Carbon monoxide alarms should be replaced around every five to seven years.
Smoke detectors should be replaced every 10 years.
It's also recommended that you have your furnaces and chimneys professionally inspected.
If you use a space heater, make sure they are at least three feet away from anything that is flammable.
If your furnace or HVAC was impacted by flooding this summer, make sure it's inspected as there could be risks with damaged equipment or mold growth.

One Our Way Day across Wisconsin to celebrate Milwaukee's first World Series championship.
The name puts a new twist on the team's motto, Win Our Way.
The Brewers won a team record 103 games during the regular season before taking the title.
Evers congratulated the players, manager Pat Murphy and his coaches.
A parade and rally takes place today.
Fans barely had time to swap out their blue and gold gear for green and gold when the World Series trophy made a surprise appearance at Lambeau Field last night.
The 2026 World Champion Brewers walked out the players' tunnel at the end of the first quarter to the roar of the crowd, raising the commissioners' trophy high in the air.
A few of the brew crew even doing their own Lambeau leaps into the crowd before kicking back in the sweet seats to watch the pack win their own way over the Carolina Panthers.
Just five days before our midterm elections, Republican candidate for Governor Tom Tiffany took advantage of the Lambeau Field Home Crowd to do some campaigning among tailgaters.
Democrat David Crowley wasn't scheduled to visit Lambeau last night, but he was in the Deer District the night before celebrating with Brewer's fans.

The Board of Regents will select the next president to oversee the system's 13 campus chancellors.
Authorities say a convicted murderer who escaped prison down in Tennessee may be connected to a Wisconsin bank robbery earlier this week.
Dean County officers say a man with a gun robbed the Bank of Deerfield just before it closed Tuesday evening.
They say the gunman restrained two people and left with cash.
No one was hurt.
The gunman stole the Lincoln MKZ from the parking lot to get away.
Police found the car later, but no one was inside.
Jacob Morley was serving a life sentence for a 2022 murder in a Tennessee prison.
Authorities say he escaped last Monday, stealing a Ford F-150 to get away.
The truck was found abandoned early Tuesday in May.
Illinois.
A rogue drone over Lambeau Field paused the action last night in the third quarter of the Packers game against the Carolina Panthers.
Both teams were ordered back to their respective locker rooms briefly before the Packers resumed their drive scoring a touchdown in the first play back.
The next roar of the crowd was for Christian Watson running back out onto the field after a quick
round-trip ambulance ride to a local ER to get checked out for a chest injury.
Top it all off with a few racing sausages in the stands and you have what they like to call Thursday Night Football in Green Bay.
Oh and the Packers won $27.19.
Of course those sausages escorted the 2026 World Champion Milwaukee Brewers to a Lambeau Field appearance on the eve of
One Our Way Day Today.
That's the declaration by Governor Tony Evers.
A nod to the Brewer's motto, Win Our Way, in celebration of the team's first World Series title.
Milwaukee finished the regular season with 103 wins and its fourth straight division title.
The team then returned to the World Series for the first time in 44 years and won it all.
A parade and rally takes place today.
And that's your state news update.
I'm Connie Thelman for Civic Media News.
Hi, I'm Mike Clemens with sports from Lambeau Field, where the Packers beat the Carolina Panthers 27 to 19 on Thursday night football.
Packers wide receiver Christian Watson had just caught a 53 yard bomb from Jordan Love when he hopped up, ran to the tunnel and was taken to a hospital for
tests.
I think I just came down on the ball or my elbow or something and I couldn't breathe on the field.
I was, you know, got the wind knocked out of me, spitting up some blood or something like that.
So the doctor said I had to go get a CT.
trying to beg them to not make me do that, but everything looked good.
You know, just had got a rib, that's all.
But everything, all the other stuff, the major stuff was all good.
No internal bleeding or anything like that.
So I was able to get back out there.
But yeah, and I was an experience for sure.
No doubt.
It is going to be mostly sunny today with a high in the low to mid fifties this afternoon.
