Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Call says there are some stark contrasts between him and his opponent, Fonda-Lack County District Attorney Eric Tony, in the November 30 election.
Bob Nelson has the story for Civic Media News.
Call, a Democrat, says he wants to build on the progress made during his first two terms in office.
Republican Tony has criticized how long it takes the state crime lab to test DNA.
Carl says the state recently opened an additional state crime lab in Milwaukee, but hasn't gotten support in the past from the state legislature when it comes to positions for those labs.
Two budgets ago, we asked for 16 positions for the crime labs, but just three were provided and none of them were for DNA analysis.
In the last budget, we requested 19 positions and no positions were provided.
Carl says last year, violent crime in Wisconsin was at its lowest level since 2011.
And there's a real contrast there in the AG's race, because in Fond du Lac County, violent crimes are up.
Last year, Fond du Lac County had the second highest number of violent crimes that it's had in decades.
Carl says the AG's office has provided state residents with protection from polluters, big companies that overcharge, and has taken on tough fights and won.
