Viv's View with Vivian King · Fri Oct 16, 2026

Milwaukee, it's time to energize your soul and open up your mind.

I just have a joy for life and so I have a joy for people too.

You are tuned in to Viv's View on 101-7 The Truth.

where

your

story is her story.

You know, as a black woman, it's like

you want to be

like

us, but you don't like us really.

That's right.

Yeah.

It's time to see things from a different point of view.

The thing that that was God saying, OK, you could do this.

Yeah.

So go ahead and try.

Truth Nation, our view, your view, and Viv's view, right here on 101-7 The Truth.

I have all kinds of friends.

from all over the world.

And so I just thank God for the experiences that he's given

me.

Now live from the American Family Insurance Studios at Third Street Market Hall on the award-winning 1017th Truth.

Here's your host Vivian King.

Good afternoon, Truth Nation.

It's Vivian King here for...

the fifth edition of Viv's View coming to you live from the American Family Insurance Studios.

It's so good to get through a week.

Is that, can you believe we've been through a week of my new show?

It's been a fast week.

It has been a fast week and you always say it's a fast two hours and that is so true.

It is Friday, Milwaukee, and today on Viv's View, we are making room for two things that we all need a little more of.

And that's faith and fun, in my view, of course.

We're going to laugh, we're going to be encouraged, and we're going to talk about what it takes to keep believing in yourself when life gets complicated.

And we all know life can get complicated.

As a special treat, Truth Nation will have comedian and actor George Wallace joining us later on.

He is such a hoot.

I don't know if you've seen him in concert before.

He's been to the Milwaukee Improv.

He is hilarious, but he has had a 50 year career in comedy.

But I'm gonna talk to him a little bit too about what he used to do and how that helped him transition into comedy.

So we're gonna learn a little bit about laughing and having fun and and what it takes to really Relax these days because as you know, we have a lot going on And then later we're going to ask mindset money real estate and investing guru Erica

to talk to us about her new station.

I mean, her new show, I should say, Erica Odom.

She's going to be talking to us about On the Journey with Erica Odom.

It's going to air this weekend.

So whatever you're listening to, stay with me.

Enjoy the conversation.

I'm gonna give you the phone number call right now, 833-212-1017.

I wanna ask you this.

What's one thing you are grateful for today and one thing that made you laugh this week a 3 3 2 1 2 10 17 a 3 3 2 1 2 10 17 And then and if you don't want to ask answer that what or I I guess I should say when life gets you know a little heavy what helps you Turn that into hope

So either one of those questions either one of those questions I see a lot of things coming in lots of lots of lots of lots of things, but okay First a little fun.

I know you all know about the Brewers I see the Zach has on his Brewers cap.

I brought my Brewers cap back Zach.

I can't put it on over these headsets, but

You know, this week we talked to Larry Heisel and Michael Morgan about Blacks and baseball.

And you should know that the Milwaukee Brewers, of course, you already know, because I know hosts before have been talking about it.

I heard sure when he was talking about it.

So I know you guys know that the Brewers are headed to the World Series for the first time in 44 years.

I don't get a crowd sound.

applause anything.

Yes.

Thanks a lot, Zach.

And so I mean, it's just great.

You know, I saw the end of the game last night was really excited for the Brewers.

They've just had an historical run this year.

It's just been wonderful.

So 44 years.

So, you know, and I think you may remember.

that I called it, I said on Wednesday that I thought they were going to return the favor to the Dodgers.

Last year the Dodgers swept the Brewers.

This year, we swept the Dodgers.

And so I think it's just an amazing thing.

They don't have to, they can sit down and wait for the next, they can wait for their next opponent.

And, you know, it's just a great time to be Milwaukee Brewer and a Milwaukee Brewer fan.

So I do have to share one thing.

I believe that I am a good luck charm.

You may say Vivian.

Why do you think you're a good luck charm?

Because the Brewers have not won or gone to the World Series in 44 years and do you remember who beat them back in 1982 in the World Series?

Any guesses that

I know I wasn't alive

But you know things

Yeah, not this

Okay, then I will let you know I was alive and I was in st.

Louis and the st.

Louis Cardinals beat them 44 years ago.

So I think I'm a good luck charm I was in st.

Louis growing up when this

Cardinals beat the Brewers in the World Series.

And now I am in Milwaukee when the Brewers are going to the World Series.

So I think I'm a good luck charm.

That's all I got to say.

I think I am a good luck charm.

So we're going to be talking about that a little bit.

Well, you know, we have talked about that.

We talked about that on Wednesday.

But but yeah, tell me what gosh, this YouTube chat is just going crazy.

Is oh, I can't keep up with it.

Okay.

Let's see.

Let's see.

Let's see Let me slow it down.

Let me slow it down.

It's just coming in coming in fast Okay It's just coming really fast I can't even stop it.

I Can't even see it But

Anyway, that's brewers lot of fun lot of fun You know one thing too that I I want to But I wonder if what Zach will I be able to see if somebody comments?

That's one thing.

I'm wondering about I see a lot of green and gold.

I see a lot of Hmm This is kind of going crazy

Yeah, you just have to you have to go to the home page of YouTube and then yeah, we go on on our live stream.

Okay, okay I'm going there now because I want to see if anybody has Okay

I think I'm there.

Okay.

Okay.

Okay.

Got it.

All right.

I'm giving you the number again.

833-212-1017.

833-212-1017.

Call in now and let me know what is one thing you are grateful for today and one thing that made you laugh this week.

Yeah, because we're gonna hopefully we're gonna laugh a little bit.

Hey Jasmine Jasmine says hey y'all Jasmine.

Let me know what what is one thing that made you laugh this week or One thing that you're grateful for today And maybe another question if that question doesn't float your boat When life gets heavy, what helps you hold on to hope?

You know, it's kind of like a continuation almost at least that question is kind of a continuation of

of what we talked about yesterday and mental health and you know what makes helps you to relax you know this is kind of coming at it from a different angle if you will because it's kind of what um you know what makes you laugh or what has made you laugh and what helps you

Turn to hope okay.

This thing is going crazy.

Okay.

I'll look at it later Because now I've got this sale going on and I know you guys don't want to know about that sale It's jumping all over the place anyway, but happy with the brewers.

I've got my cap on I don't know if I'm going to the world series or not

I'm sure people are already clamoring for tickets.

I think I saw on the news a long line of people.

I did see a friend of mine who was in line.

So I was thinking, I should probably call him and say, hey, how many tickets are you getting?

But I know he knows tons of people and they have probably.

Bombarded him with especially after seeing him on the news bombarded him with with questions about hey How many tickets are you getting can I go can I go so I probably will just watch it on TV?

That's what I've been doing for you know the past several decades I guess Because I think baseball is really much more exciting during the playoffs because you have the best teams They have the best strategy

The play just seems to be faster.

I think we kind of talked about that on Wednesday, too The it just seems to be faster so Faith and fun Fridays, that's what this is going to be on fifth view.

We're gonna Maybe tackle faith sometimes maybe tackle fun.

Maybe tackle both and that's what we're doing today

tackling both because we're going to talk to George Wallace, comedian George Wallace, and also we'll talk to Erica Odom.

Keep it here on 1017, The Truth for Faith and Fun Fridays with Viv's View.

We'll be right

back.

Viv's view.

Stay right there, Truth Nation.

Viv's view with Vivian King returns on the award-winning 101.7 The Truth.

The 101.7 The Truth YouTube channel and 101.7 The Truth.

You're watching Viv's View with Vivian King on the 101.7 The Truth YouTube channel.

Be sure to like and subscribe today and keep seeing things from a different point of view.

Viv's View, that is.

You know welcome back to Viv's view from the award-winning 1017 FM the truth coming to you live from the American Family Insurance Studios and You know something that I'm grateful for is the music of Prince.

I love Prince you guys I grew up Dancing to him singing to him seeing him in seeing him in concert everything.

So that's one of the things I'm grateful for

I wish I could be so musically inclined, but I guess I just have the appreciation.

Yeah, before we went to break, I was letting you know that Fridays on Vives You is going to be faith and fun Fridays because we all need a little more faith and we can all use a little more fun.

Don't be so serious sometimes.

There's too many things in the world.

that make us have to be serious especially you know being an adult paying bills all the things you have to do as an adult you know when you're a kid you wanted to grow up and be an adult now that I am an adult I'm like hmm being a kid wasn't so bad so I asked you that question and uh so some of you have answered now and uh first

Thanks, Mr. Me, one more time.

Sid's up, Viv.

Congrats on your new show.

Thank you so much.

And that's something I'm grateful for.

This new show, it was a new opportunity that I was grateful that came just dropped into my lap.

And so that's something I'm grateful for.

Jasmine says that one thing she's grateful for, she drives foster care kids and they tend to say funny things a lot of the time.

I am sure, especially depending

on how old they are.

You know, they have that that show kids say the darndest things.

And so kids do say the darndest thing.

And she also says, too, if I'm going through a rough patch, I remind myself to be grateful for what I have and say a quick prayer.

Absolutely.

Faith is so important in prayer is something that, you know, to me.

I don't think I could live without prayer.

It took me a little while to really hone in and make sure that I was doing that.

And we'll talk about that one day, one day soon.

But yeah, I think those are great.

And Jasmine, you must like Prince too because you gave me a dancing emoji.

I love Prince.

I love Prince.

Has anybody out there been to Paisley Park to see his home and just all the cool things there?

I could not wait to go there.

I could not wait.

But on this faith of fun Friday, we are going to be talking to comedian George Wallace.

And so George, so, okay, Zach already said he wasn't alive during, you know, the last World Series that the Brewers were in.

So George Wallace started his career even before that.

He's been

He's been a comedian for 50 years.

And what's interesting, I was like, what was he doing before he was a comedian?

And can you believe he was doing marketing and advertising?

And so he used that to transition into his company career.

So I can't wait to really talk to him about that.

The other thing that I found.

interesting when I was doing my research on George.

I guess I've seen him a couple of times.

I've seen him in Las Vegas because he had a residency at the Flamingo Hotel, and he would always, at least during that show, he would always talk about where he would have lunch all the time, which is this restaurant called Mon Amigabe, a French restaurant, as you can...

probably till by the by the title of the name of the restaurant.

And so he would always have lunch there.

And then the other thing that I found out, too, is that, did you know he used to be roommates with Jerry Seinfeld?

Surprised me.

I guess I had never heard that before so I want to talk to him about that that had to be kind of a hoot to be Roommates with Jerry Seinfeld, so we're gonna talk a little bit about that and then we also Just have You know we have this new show coming up with Erica Odom and so she's gonna come on and tell us a little bit about that

I can't wait to see where we're going on the journey with Erica Odom But here is one thing, you know, we make it to Friday, you know, if you're still working which most of us are motion I'm kind of a little I'm working here now But you make it to Friday after work bills family obligations and non-stop headlines especially, you know

We're doing countdown to the midterms this Political there's there are wars going on and I know you probably heard About a school shooting just the other last night.

I think it was or yesterday Does having faith mean?

Pretending nothing is hard or finding the courage to enjoy life anyway Or finding something that helps you enjoy life

What are the things that help you enjoy life?

We've already heard from some driving faster kid care kids, you know something that I am grateful for is I I wrote this book children's book called grace welcomes the lady next door book one and the growing up polite story I mean series and When I go to schools and read to kids

It is so rewarding.

It kind of helps you stay young when you hang around kids a lot of times.

It helps you, you know, it helps you see life in a different way.

It helps take you back to, you know, those days when, when really being a kid, you're carefree for them.

You should be carefree.

There are some instances where you are not.

And that's why it's, it pains me when

You know, I see a child that has, you know, does not have a good home life or or a child that isn't is homeless.

Teenagers that are homeless.

You're not supposed to be worrying about that stuff as a kid or as a teenager.

You know, ideally your parents are helping you.

You you have a roof over your head.

You know, life should be.

Easy life should just be about growing up and trying to figure out who you are and you know making you know making Learning to make good choices learning that life is about choices, you know learning what kind of Control you may have over what you're doing, but to me that that leads back to faith as well You know if you have faith

That everything is going to be okay You turn to whether it's scripture whether it's going to church whether it's you know, somebody at your church Whether it's reading Talking to your spiritual leader talking to to friends who encourage you like-minded friends, you know, those are the things that You know help you get through life

Having faith and then having fun along the way because I really think that you know, I think God has a sense of humor He at least he does with me, you know things happen, and I'm like, huh.

Yeah.

Okay, God.

I see you.

I see you.

I see you so Faith and fun Fridays.

I see What else do I like to do

I like, I like good food.

I am grateful for all of the great restaurants here in Milwaukee that fix great food.

I love Italian.

I love soul food, of course, but I cook some of that at home as well.

But still, when you don't feel like cooking, a lot of good soul food restaurants, you know, few good soul food restaurants.

I like Japanese, Chinese.

I like all kinds of food, so I'm just grateful that Milwaukee has a great food scene.

The other thing I'm grateful for about Milwaukee is Lake Michigan.

You know, how many people have a great lake that they can go see?

Which to me, just what a wonderful creation, right?

People, my friends who come to visit Milwaukee and forget.

That it's on a great lake.

I don't think that you really think about a Great lake when you when you don't live on one you you just don't think about it and you don't You don't realize just the magnitude of a great lake, you know Of course different from an ocean ocean much larger But a great lake is is like my friends in st.

Louis.

We live, you know st.

Louis is on them

Mississippi River.

You know, there are some lakes around, but not a great lake.

You know, we can see the other side of the lake, you know, of the lakes around St.

Louis.

You can see the other side.

You know, here you can't.

And so it's, it's, you know, it's just something to see.

I see enlightenment.

95 has

Comment it crazy.

I say the same thing every time I see God's work I say I see you and start clapping.

That's real believer activity absolutely Absolutely, and I think you you know, you don't think about that for the most part when you're a kid or when you're a teenager At least I I must speak for myself.

I took it for granted, right?

I took it for granted But it's great to see

He's God has he's got a sense of humor and he's so creative the thing that I do too I'm grateful for the sun rises and and being an early riser I used to hate I used to have to get up and go to work For a 5 a.m.

Show and so now I don't have to do that 2 p.m.

Is so much easier, you know, you can really ease into it, but I walk during

the mornings with some friends and we you know depending on the the time of year we really catch great sunrises and so the fall is really a great time to catch great sunrises they've just been beautiful because we walk about oh we started 6 30 and walked till about 645 and so the sunrises are just great right now and it's just fun to see so

Those are just some of the things I'm grateful for but it's time for us to head to a break and when we come back hopefully we will

be hearing the voice of comedian George Wallace.

We'll be right back.

Every story deserves to be heard because your story is her story.

Viv's view with Vivian King returns after this on the award-winning 1017 The Truth.

Truth Nation, it's time to give back to the conversation.

Our view, your view, Viv's view.

Viv's view with Vivian King returns now on the award-winning 1017 The Truth.

Welcome back to Viv's View.

I came back before I started singing that song.

That's one of my favorites.

But one thing I have to tell you, American Family Insurance is a proud sponsor of the truth.

Since 1927, they've been committed to helping families protect what matters most, with the right home and auto coverage built around your real life.

Because when you've worked hard to build something, you want protection that works just as hard for you.

That peace of mind means you're free to focus on your goals, your family, and the dreams you're chasing.

Ensure carefully, dream fearlessly with American Family Insurance.

American Family Mutual Insurance Company, SI, and its operating companies, 6,000 American Parkway Madison, Wisconsin.

And we are coming to you live from the American Family Insurance Studios and I said it's Faith and Fun Fridays and right now we're about to have a lot of fun because guess who is on with us right now?

Comedian and actor George Wallace.

Mr. Wallace, may I call you George?

You can call me whatever you want to.

I love you and there's absolutely nothing you can do about it.

Now who is this again?

It's so good to hear your voice today.

I don't know.

I'm actually talking to you.

You are talking to me.

I'm so glad.

And I think it's so great for you to be on with us today.

I just love your work.

The last time you were here, I saw you at the Milwaukee Improv.

My friend and I came and we just had a great time.

You're just wonderful.

You know what?

I just enjoyed Milwaukee.

So the people there was so nice.

I just can't wait to come back.

I didn't get to see a lot of people I want to see.

I didn't get to go to church.

You know, I'm a church of God in Christ.

I'm a Christian comedian.

Well, I think I used to be a Christian.

I don't know.

I started cussing last year.

So I don't know.

Okay, we gotta keep it clean.

We gotta

keep it clean.

We gotta keep it clean, Zach said.

Okay.

Did I cuss?

No, you didn't cuss.

I know what I'm doing.

I'm

not gonna

cuss on radio.

I'm a Christian.

Okay, you do know what you're doing about that, but what about your camera, George?

I don't see you.

Did you turn your camera on?

Why am I not on camera?

I should be on camera.

Zach, tell us what he needs to do.

There you go.

That might be me.

Maybe I need to press

the right

button.

Oh, he went away!

Oh, you were on first and then you went away, he said.

Okay.

Oh,

here you are!

All right, you're back, you're

back.

We're back,

you're back, you're back.

I see you, I see you.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

It wasn't my fault, it was Benjamin's fault.

Okay, you know what?

It might have been, it was Benjamin's fault.

We're gonna get Benjamin.

You know.

Don't tell me no

cussing.

I don't cuss.

Tell, okay, we're gonna get Benjamin for that.

But you know what, what?

Hey, let me ask you a question.

Did I cuss at the shelf when you was there?

Because you know, I get carried away sometimes.

Things have changed.

You may have

said one little thing, but it was really small.

Don't lie, don't lie, because sometimes I get carried away.

You know all the new church numbers they cuss a lot.

Everybody cuss.

Well the good thing is that God forgives us.

Yes Jesus saves us.

You know what I like about God?

You know what I like about God?

Already ask God to forgive me for my sins.

of the future.

And he has to say yes.

So no matter what I do, I mean, think about stuff like that.

I'm already forgiven.

God bless us today.

Exactly.

Right.

But, you know, well, but you're not supposed to, you're supposed to, you know, that's, that doesn't give you a pass, George.

It doesn't give you a pass.

Listen to me.

If you're living in America today, if you're living anywhere, you are going to do something wrong.

You're going to say something wrong.

Cause life is just a lie now.

It's all a lie.

Whatever you do, it's all a lie.

It seems like it really does.

It really does.

It

is a lie.

I just watched him on TV yesterday in the wrinkle-free past.

Wrinkle-free past.

And I opened it up.

Just loaded with wrinkles.

It came with wrinkles.

Everything you do is a lie.

When did you first realize that you were funny and that you wanted to make a career of it?

I was six years old.

I used to watch TV shows like Red Skeleton.

You're not old enough to know about him.

He was an older comedian.

And I had Red Skeleton.

I had Red Fox.

I had Pinky Lee, a lot of reds back in the day, a lot of colors back in the day.

I had, what's that, ladies and mums, Mably, and Judge Pinkmeat Markham.

I was just so blessed to hear their work.

And I went to watch the Tonight Show.

And I would take those jokes back to class the next day.

And the classmates were laughing.

I just thought this is the greatest thing in the world, making people laugh.

And I'm so blessed to be doing it for 50 years this year.

I'm the most blessed person you've ever met.

I don't know.

I think I'm pretty blessed too.

But yeah, I mean, I think we're all blessed.

That's the thing.

We're all blessed.

That's where you better look at it.

I am so blessed.

I'm the most successful person you ever met also.

It's not how much money you make.

is how you enjoy your life while you're living.

And I just couldn't have a better life.

I'm serious right now.

How has your sense of, sense of humor changed over the years?

Oh, it's been the same as just talking about people saying stupid stuff.

Cause people do that all the

time.

All the time.

Like yesterday, I'm in my, I'm in my hotel once again, ordered food from DoorDash and the food came in concerts, calls me and said, Mr Wallace.

Your food is here.

Do you want us to send it up?

I thought that was the stupidest thing I've ever heard in my life.

Of

course.

No, no, you keep my food.

You keep it down there.

It's crazy.

That is crazy.

So if you live long enough, you will, you will, you better be laughing.

There's always something to laugh at.

You know, it's just like another stupid thing people say, if I can do it, anybody can do it.

That's not true.

Like living in Milwaukee, any major city.

People have to get up in the morning six seven o'clock and go to work They're driving traffic and sometimes they're in traffic for 15 minutes to an hour each way.

I Can't do that.

I cannot if I can do it.

You can do it.

That's not true I can't do that.

I have to

My life starts at 10 o'clock at night, and all I do is tell lies.

I just love, I got the greatest number.

I'm not the biggest liar in the world, because we got a guy, I'm gonna call his name, but they call him 47.

Oh my God, I see a good liar.

He's the best liar.

I'm gonna

call his name.

I love

the poorly educated.

Too funny.

I was talking to the devil, Bibi.

Bibi, I was talking to the devil yesterday.

I said, what you gonna do when Trump get down here?

The devil told me no, not today.

He's not coming.

He's not Trump.

He's not gonna let Trump in hell.

No, he just barely let Lindsey Graham in.

So Trump ain't coming down there.

Are you out of your damn mind?

I get bad sometimes.

Where is he

going?

He's gonna be, he can't go to heaven.

I mean,

every sin that's in the Bible, he's committed it.

So I don't know where he's going, but the devil said he can't come down there.

Cause if he come to hell, the devil told me he'll come down there trying to take over.

It might do

it.

He's

got a lot of, he got a lot of friends on there.

I bet you that.

Yeah, that's true.

I bet so too.

Absolutely.

You know, there are a lot of comedians these days that I've, you know, I get kind of lost sometimes in Instagram reels and, you know, some of the cook comics.

What are some of the comments or some of the comics today that that you like and think are again that are going to be successful

or are successful?

Well, let me tell you today, I just finished talking to Dave Chappelle and I've been on the road with Dave Chappelle.

We were in Washington, D.C.

last week at the.

Constitution Hall.

Also, there's a young kid named Josh Johnson.

He's

killing

it.

There's so many good... There's a guy named... This guy just flat out stupid.

He's from Houston, Texas.

His name is Alisa Deek.

There's something wrong with him.

I don't know what it is.

He's always talking about my dad.

My dad, he's always... He is so fantastic.

There's a lot of good kids out there.

Stephanie Springs.

all some of these young ladies, of course, Lou Nails.

She's not young, but she's that chick.

I'm going to take my hat off because people say I look like Lou Nails' mama.

Stop.

You are bad.

You have named some of my

favorites,

too.

I said, you've said some of my favorites.

I do like Josh Johnson.

I love at least a dick.

At least a dick too.

Yeah, they're great.

They're great.

Fantastic.

It's a lot of good comedians out there right now.

And you don't know some of them.

I had written some names on just to say that, uh, you know, DC young fly love him.

These young kids are just killing it.

It's just really, really nice to see some of these young kids.

And I just love laughter.

I applaud the young kids, what they're doing in social media.

Some of the older guys don't like it because they're making money immediately.

Well, that's the new way.

You know, when I started coming at 50 years ago, we had three networks with ABC, NBC, and CBS.

And that's how we did it by television.

And I did it really good, too.

And I'll tell you what I am.

I'm the oldest black comedian to work in today.

How about that?

I'm the oldest black comedian working in America.

And you

are

so funny.

And I've been blessed to have gone to Los Vegas.

I paved the way for a lot of the young black comedians today.

I'm the first black comedian going to the club and says, hey, you take the food, I take the door.

I talk to the young black kids like, do that.

Now these clubs are trying to screw us again.

And they're not our partners anymore.

They're making us do everything.

And so we have to do the media.

We have to do so many things.

And if it were not for black comedians, comedy clubs wouldn't be open today.

And that's the truth.

Just look around.

No comedy club would be open today without black African-American comedians.

We're bad.

You are.

You are.

And on that note, we're going to take a break.

And we want you to stick around for a second, George.

And we'll be back.

I got

to go to the hospital with my mama.

Did my mama have a baby?

No, not yet.

Really?

We'll be right back after this with George Wallace

on Viv's View.

OK, so that's how it's going to be.

Y'all want to play.

Welcome back to Viv's View on this faith and fun Fridays.

Are your finances low?

Is your mindset off track?

Or are you simply ready to get into real estate?

Well, mark your calendars and don't be late.

Tune in to On The Journey with Coach Erika Saturday, October 17th from 11 a.m.

to noon on 1017 The Truth.

It's all about mindset, money, and real estate, helping you take the next step toward building a better future.

And we're going to be talking to Coach Erica in our next half hour.

But right now we have the incomparable George Wallace on the line.

And oh, I like that picture of you better, George.

It's like nice and very, very good, very, very good.

Thank you so much for joining

us.

I turned the camera around.

I turned the camera around.

I'm a little slow with this technology, you know?

And I'm just thinking about something.

We were in, we were in Milwaukee.

You asked me some of the greatest committees.

There's a guy in Milwaukee.

I don't know him that well, but he's a, I think his name is Marlon Hill.

Oh

yeah, Marlon Hill.

Marlon Hill.

I love

Marlon.

He's the worst.

Since you guys know about the best, let me tell you about the worst committee.

The worst committee I ever met in my life.

His name is Marlon Hill and he lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Don't talk about Marlon like that.

He's so bad when you go when you go to Milwaukee Brewers of baseball game He's one of those kids will run around in the dress like a sausage.

You know when they hit that kids sausage upside down Remember when they hit that sausage upside the head a few years ago.

That was Marlon That was Marlon Hill.

No George.

They

should have hit him again.

That is not right.

Do not do that to Marlon.

He's a good guy

Let me tell you something

You talking about a nice person, I gotta give him his props.

He took care of me while I was in Milwaukee, and he made sure I had everything.

Every now and then, once a year, you meet a new person in your life that just said, you know what, take my number, and let's work together, and we're gonna work together soon.

He is, Marlon, if you're listening, well, if you're listening, you're the worst comedian ever.

If you're not listening.

I can't say it to him in his face.

I can't say to him in his face.

If you're not listening, he's so nice, but thank you so much for taking care of me and me walking.

That is so cool.

I do remember he introduced you.

Yes.

Yes.

Yes.

You know, I have to tell you some people are commenting in our YouTube chat and, uh, Jose Sanders says, Hey, George, he says you say that.

Are you serious?

Yep.

He says you say that, uh, you're his father.

I am his real daddy, and so two feet tall.

I'm your real daddy.

I'm your real daddy, too, bitch.

Oh,

OK.

I'm going to ask my mother

didn't mention

that.

I know you've

been looking for me.

I know you've been looking

for me, but I'm your real daddy.

Shut up, kid.

Oh, I forgot.

I forgot.

I was supposed to be, see, bitch, you made me late.

I'm supposed, my mama having a baby.

I'm supposed to be going to the hospital.

You told me to wait.

I call a hospital until my mama waits.

She's holding it, huh?

She's holding it.

George, stop it, stop it.

So, you know, something that I read about you that you and Jerry Seinfeld used to be roommates.

I didn't realize that till I was reading that recently.

There's a lot of things people don't know about me.

I'm actually the real George.

I'm the George.

I'm the roommate of Jerry Seinfeld for 13 years.

People don't know that.

They think it's a joke.

Look it up.

I'm also the best man at his wedding.

I saw

that as well.

I'm the father of his kids.

Did you know that?

The father?

Or maybe the godfather?

We, Jerry Seinfeld and I started coming in the same day at the same time.

And to this day, we are still best friends.

We talk at least three to five times a day.

He's currently over in Paris having fun.

I should have gone with him last night.

But I have a show here in New York at Carnegie Hall in a few days.

And so I'm preparing for the show and I couldn't go with him.

But he's still my best friend to this day.

And I wish I wish everybody had a friend like Jerry Seinfeld.

I love that.

I love that.

You, of course, comedian, but you also are an actor.

What was your favorite role?

Oh, I don't know.

My favorite role was actually the last project that we did last year.

We did a TV show called

clean slate.

It was almost like I wanted to reboot Sanford & Sons.

So I went to my good friend Norman Lear.

I said, let's reboot this show.

He said, no, that's my most iconic show.

I said, you rebooted everything else.

Why not do Sanford & Sons?

And he said, we're not going to touch it.

He says, however, if you go back and come back with a twist, maybe we'll think about it.

So when I was talking to my friend and associate writer, Dan Youans, and

I said, what if I had a show like on the wash, I own a car wash, living an old black man down in Alabama.

And my son left and went to New York to do his thing BU, he wanted to be.

And I said, and I didn't know anything about Orange as the new black, but it was the number one show at the time.

I didn't know anything about Laverne Cox, because she was winning all of the awards and doing everything like that.

And I said, yeah, what if I could get her to join me and let's create a show where it's kind of like Sanford and San, but it turns into Sassman and Dota.

So what happened was I had my home and my son leaves Alabama to South and goes to New York City to do his thing and be who he wanted to be.

I did not hear from my son in 23 years.

I get a phone call or an email that says, dad, I'm coming home tomorrow.

I tell the whole neighborhood that my son is coming home because like in the movie The Wash, I played a car wash owner

and

because I wash everybody's car.

My son is coming home the next day.

Ding dong, I go through the door.

the most beautiful lady you've ever seen in your life.

I said, lady, I don't know whether you're selling the watchtower or you might be selling a thong.

You might be, but today is not the right day because my son is coming home.

My son is coming.

And she says, dad, it's me.

That is wild.

What my mouth just dropped and I'll tell you what the good thing about it the reason I like to show and wrote the show and co-produced the show is because I was educated in the writing George Wallace also the character Harry was educated about how other people live everybody lives a different life, okay

Yes, they do.

You know what George?

We have Jose Sanders is on the line.

He wants to say something.

Hey, Jose.

How you doing?

Hey, babe, how's your view George?

Hey, daddy.

You caught me.

Oh George just dropped out for some reason.

Okay, we can happen with his connection.

Oh something happened with his connected his connection But okay, I

didn't run from me he right in front of me.

He owes me child support

You are a mess

Well,

you know what and I think he's ducking you again because all of a sudden his connection is gone But you have interviewed him before everybody I think I told you guys about Jose yesterday if you were listening to vives you he's one of my best friends and he's in broadcast in Chicago though and

And so I'm so glad you were able to call in.

And I think you did run George away, but he

is hilarious.

You're doing a great job.

You're doing a great job.

And I'm proud of you.

Congratulations.

Thank you.

And I think, I think George may be back.

George, are you there?

Who is that talking on my call?

Oh, Lord.

Oh, Lord.

I found it.

George, this Jose Sandin in Chicago.

Daddy, you owe me so much support money.

I'm hungry.

I'm gonna come to Chicago.

I'm gonna take you to Patello's.

I'm gonna get you some good food, okay?

And get you some french

fries

and a sausage sandwich, okay?

And a strawberry shortcake too, okay?

Well, that make up for it.

I

apologize for going away, but Marlon Hill called me.

He has my private never and he cut the call over.

I don't don't you ever.

Are you serious?

I'm gonna get Marlon.

That's who it was.

Well, you should get him and you should put him out of Milwaukee.

By the way, by the way, let me make sure I say congratulations to the Milwaukee Brewers.

Oh,

yes.

I swear to

you.

My goodness, that was the greatest.

They swept him.

They did.

They swept the Dodgers.

And they got one player that plays for the Dodgers and makes $700 million a year.

I think he should be playing by himself.

I think the Brewers should just...

That's a lot of money.

That's

a lot of money.

But

it proves that you cannot buy the World Series title and no walk is going to go all the way.

Please do.

George, I think so too.

I

think so

too.

And by the way, and then a few years ago, you won the basketball.

Yes, we did.

We did.

My good friend and pastor, Pastor Valerie.

Oh,

Valerie Daniels Carter.

Yeah, I know some good people there also the other Bishop in my church I forgot his name, but he can sing his but all He sings like a quartet.

He's a big church of God and Christ also.

He knows what I'm talking about.

Yeah People in Milwaukee

visit Bishop Burt

No, but

good high it's not

Heinz.

Oh, Bishop Heinz.

Yeah, yeah, Bishop Heinz.

Yep, Bishop Heinz.

Absolutely.

He comes to my church in Los Angeles West annualist Church of God and Christ

Okay,

that's why I go to church.

Yeah, he's saying that my church.

It's amazing.

He came to my church.

We talked about my church.

You opened us.

He was just praying to Stevie Wonder when we came on.

Right.

They wanted

to go to my church and you open up.

I think that was that Salomon the first we open up wasn't

I think it was yeah, but you know what George?

We're running out of time.

Just tell us real quickly.

What's coming up with you?

Maybe Shannon

This is your 101 7 the truth news update.

What's up Milwaukee?

I'm maybe Shannon and I'm here to bring you what's popping in Milwaukee black media First we begin nationally.

We're a new APNORC poll finds the economy and cost of living are major concerns for voters ahead of November's midterm elections 85% of registered voters survey called the economy one of the most important issues in deciding their vote

The survey also found widespread interest in change in Washington across political lines.

State officials say the facility is designed to keep young people closer to their families while providing education, counseling, and job skills training.

And now from the pages of the Milwaukee Courier, keeping Troop Nation connected to the stories shaping our community.

And welcome back to Viv's View, coming to you from 1017 FM The Truth, the award-winning 1017 FM The Truth, coming to you from the American Family Insurance Studios.

And did we have fun that last segment?

Oh my gosh, I think I got out of control, but we're back in control now.

I want to bring in someone to...

That you already know truth listeners you already you may already know Erica Odum I was just finding out we just met and She hosts our Saturday specialty show on the journey with Erica Odum where she talks about mindset finance real estate and investing and

Welcome to Viv's view, which is new.

It was it's it's it's come back to it used to be on TV now It's on radio and so we we're both kind of re-emerging if you will yes I don't know about your show.

So tell me what you what it used to be and what we're gonna See and expect on Saturday

Because it starts tomorrow, right?

It starts tomorrow at 11 a.m.

to 12 a.m.

So thank you.

First off, thank you for having me on the show.

I appreciate being here and it's nice to meet you as well.

I so my show is a little bit wait

before you say that.

Okay.

You have a beautiful young lady with you.

Just let us know who she is.

I know she said she wasn't going to talk and you don't have to talk.

You can just nod a smile and be pretty.

But you know, the listeners are going to say if they're watching on YouTube, they're going to say, okay, they didn't talk about that other young lady in the room.

So just at least tell them who she is.

I promise you don't have to say anything.

Okay, well,

she is absolutely amazing.

Her name is Madison.

Madison is actually one of my interns.

She's been with me a few months now, and she's been doing great.

And she has had the opportunity to pretty much be with me on a day to day basis in this world of real estate that I'm in.

So the program that I have at the business is called the skill of journey internship program.

So it's a program that's geared towards 17 to 23 year olds who have an interest in regards to real estate.

Property management and project management.

So within the program, they have the opportunity not only to get like that hands on field experience, but they also have the opportunity, you know, just kind of get that book experience too, for lack

Maybe Shannon

of better

words.

So it's, it's a combination of both.

So, um,

Great opportunity for somebody who may feel like they have an interest in that or they're curious about what the day to day looks like because there's so many different things you can do in real estate and it looks very different.

And I'm sure Madison's been on a whole adventure with me.

So she has seen a lot.

She's been in the field.

She's been to a lot of properties.

She's met tenants.

She's met clients.

She's met other professionals within the real estate.

field.

So it's a great experience for anybody who is interested in real estate.

It sounds

like it.

And so will your program on the journey with Erica Odom kind of let us into that kind of experience as well?

It does.

So on the journey, um, with me is all about, uh, I like to use the word empowerment.

So one of the things that I referenced a lot in everything that I do, radio, social media, books, everything that I do when I'm speaking is about the journey to success.

So I strongly believe that we are all individually on our journey to success.

Our journey to success just looks exclusively to us.

So through my platform, I use my personal journey to success in real estate and in regards to my own finances.

to give people insight, but as well as education and empowerment when it relates to mindset, money and real estate.

Um, I haven't always had the best financial situation and I'm very open about that.

And people who've come into contact with me and who have listened to me on the show know that I am like the first person to put myself out there just because I really want people to understand and realize that, Hey, I'm a real person and I didn't always.

be exempt from struggle,

Maybe Shannon

if you get what I'm

saying.

So I really talk about my experiences early on as far as financial mistakes that I've made, lack of financial literacy that I had, not the grace, I would say the best or financial habits

Maybe Shannon

that were

instilled, you know, as I think about my earlier days and choices and decisions that I made.

I talk a lot about that and I also talk about

my experience in real estate.

I got into real estate very young when I was 19, one year out of high school.

You know, at that age, you think, you know, everything, you know, people try to tell you, but you're like, no, I got it.

I got this under control.

So it's a learning process and how I honestly learned real estate was from my failure when I was 19.

And so just going through that experience, having those setbacks,

um, has brought me to this point.

So the show is all about just being very transparent and open about my experiences along my journey to success.

And then I also like to inform and educate people on things that I know to be true when it comes to financial things as well as real estate related things, because these are things that I've actually experienced.

So I know they work or I know they don't work because I personally, um, encountered with that.

And then I also try to make sure that I have well-informed professionals and guests within our community because I believe that my perspective is just one piece of the pie.

But

there are so many other people who have experience and insight that can bring the other pieces of the pie when we're having the discussion about mindset, money, and real estate.

You just said a word.

And I know we really talked about some of the questions I would ask you, but

Maybe Shannon

I have

kind of a follow-up question

Maybe Shannon

that you

will because since you're very transparent, I mean, I think we've all made money mistakes.

Yes.

And sometimes you may still make, you know, circumstances may have you make another mistake just because circumstances can throw us a curveball.

That was me.

Right.

I got it.

I got out of debt and got back in debt.

So

Maybe Shannon

that, that was

me.

Um, and so that goes back to why I'm so open about it because I know finances is a sensitive topic.

Nobody wants to really put themselves out there, right?

Um, because sometimes a person could look like they got it all together and it's together and it's not that used to be me.

So I know what that feeling is like.

I know what it's like.

when you're trying to uphold that and make it seem like you got it together, it's not a good place to be in.

And so that's why I'm so open about my experiences and my own mistakes along the way to let people know that it's gonna be okay because you can get in debt and I'm here to tell you, you can come out of debt.

You

can ruin your credit and your credit score can come back.

You can go from living paycheck to paycheck and bring yourself out of that.

And I know

People could argue me and say, well, you don't understand.

I do understand that may not be my situation right now, but at one point in time, it was my situation.

And so I try to really bring light to that to help people understand that that's why it's called a journey to success because this may be your circumstances at this current day, this time, this hour, this year, but that doesn't mean your circumstances are going to continue to stay that.

The big piece is just getting the information, resources, whatever that looks like for your own situation, for your journey to success to help you continue to get along the way and make the necessary strides and steps for you so you can change your situation.

Right.

I mean, you know, I just think about me like my, I'm from St.

Louis.

Okay.

My mother, my dad died and my grandmother was living with my

parents

Maybe Shannon

and

so then it was just my mother and my mother and her mother-in-law

Maybe Shannon

right

they had a great right you know great relationship but now she wanted to sell the house and come live with me and so now it's like I'm in a caregiving situation because you know so you're a lot I mean I've like

paid off all my debt and

Maybe Shannon

then

I've raised my debt again and

Maybe Shannon

so

what you're saying is so key that people need to know they're not alone and anything can happen through like life will throw you curveballs all the time.

It will.

So how do you turn faith and big dreams into an actual plan?

How do I turn faith and big

dreams into an actual plan?

Um, and this is my first week here.

Okay.

So this is my fifth show and I've decided to call Fridays faith and fun Fridays because we want to, we want to always have faith and we want to always have a little fun.

So we had a little fun with George Wallace that last half hour.

And now we're talking about, you know, like turning faith into big dreams.

So I, it's so much I could say on that.

So what I will say, I won't go too far off.

I will say anything is possible, especially with God.

I'm just going

Maybe Shannon

to say it.

I believe that I stand by that.

I own that.

Like I said, I've been through a lot of different obstacles on my journey to success.

And one thing that helps me is to go back and remember the challenges and revisit those challenges because

when you go on through it, it's like, okay, if I just get one more chance, I'm not going to do it again.

It's going to work out.

And then you get it.

And then sometimes we forget because everything is going good now.

So you just forget like, well, hold on.

Take a

step back.

Let's, let's remember those obstacles and struggles you did have because you were brought through those.

Absolutely.

And if, and if I'm just going to say, if God brought you through it once, he'll bring you through it again.

And

I believe in

that.

And so that's, that's.

been a big part of my journey to success, um, amongst other things.

But I would just say, you know, one thing about faith is just like, like they say, you don't always see it.

When I was at 19 year old Erica straight out of high school, think I had a figured out, lacked financial literacy, got this real estate deal.

Think I got it going together, but I really don't.

At that moment, that Erica.

She couldn't see what was up ahead.

She didn't know that her life would transpire into where it is today, but I'm bringing that full circle to say that faith, you got to have the faith because it may not look like what you think it's going to be, but usually it's right up the road.

You just got to keep going.

And so I always like lean into that on my own journey to success.

Like, wow.

I'm really glad I didn't give up because had I gave up, like I would have missed out on all of this.

If I would have just been

Maybe Shannon

like,

forget it.

It's not

Maybe Shannon

working

out.

And I know that's easier said than done.

And I trust me.

I know, but especially when you end the struggle and everything is tense and you're trying to figure out, okay, how am I going to get this work?

This person's calling me.

I owe this.

Like it's so much happening.

It's so much toll on you emotionally that it takes, but it's right up ahead.

It is on that note.

We'll be right back with more about On The Journey with Erica Odom.

And we're talking to Erica Odom because she has a new show and I'm going to get it correctly this time.

It is On the Journey with Coach Erica.

I did the I did your whole name and all that stuff before but on the journey with coach Erica and what you've already said has made me want to be on the journey because you know my life has been up and down and up and down but

because it's Faith Fridays.

I have had faith and I know that God has been with me all along and opportunities come and you're thinking, where did that come from?

I'm like, and if you're like me, a believer, it's God watching me and being there along the way.

So we were talking about different financial situations and usually if you're living paycheck to paycheck, you don't think that you can get things done.

No.

But but you're gonna talk about how you actually can

Well, I mean it just I'll say this before I say anything.

I Believe that when it comes to finances we have to look at our own individual exclusive finances because Excuse me a lot of times we'll you know, there's so many people that you know want to give input

And, you know, they probably have good intentions or, you know, good means when they give their input, but there's so many different inputs sometimes that we can get in those moments, but it might not be the necessary correct input for you.

So the first thing I would say is like really look exclusively at your finances because your financial situation is going to look different from the next person's financial situation.

And then that's also going to determine, in my opinion, how you need to move next.

because how you may need to move or the things that you may need to do or implement may be totally different from what this person over here needs based on the financial situations.

And I wear so many hats with one of my hats.

I am a financial professional and one of the things that I do with my clients is what we call a financial needs analysis.

And the point of the financial needs analysis

is truly to help me understand where is this individual at financially?

What

do you have for income?

What do you have, you know, for debts?

Do you currently have any type of investments?

Do you have life insurance?

The list goes on because I really need to understand who you are.

Number one, what's your goals?

What's your dreams?

But also where are you at currently?

And so I just wanted to say that first because that's so important to understand that it looks different person to person.

Um, if you are living paycheck, like paycheck to paycheck, like I said, I would first by start looking at your situation.

And then, um, if you can sit down with a financial professional, if, if that's available to you, um, if not, you can call me coach Erica.

I'll be happy to talk to you.

Um, but sit down with someone to really get another and look at what you're going through and then start seeing like, okay, based on what your situation looks like.

Okay.

What can, what can we start doing as far as, you know, if you're lacking income?

Is there an opportunity to, you know, sometimes we got to, at least on my journey to success, I had to work a little harder.

So sometimes that meant me working a full time job and a part time job for a short period of time to be able to make up some of the income that I was short.

Um,

you know, there's things that we can do individually.

You know, I get pushed back on this, but I'm like, you know, if we really sat down and looked at everything, I'm sure it may be a little something that you can give up as far as spending.

Yeah.

So, you know, really

looking

at your situation to be honest, am I spending right now on something that I probably don't necessarily need and I can cut back from.

Um.

i'm a starbucks

like

going out to eat

right i was gonna say i

like coffee i'm i'm one of those

starbucks starbucks first and let

me tell you at starbucks you can easily spend 12 dollars on a danish and a coffee

a small

coffee not even a grande or a venti so my thing is you know we don't think about it in that moment all those little things matter especially when we're in a crunch so really

Looking at where we can cut back.

Can you cut back on subscriptions?

Can you cut back

on

fast food?

You know, are there things currently in your roster of monthly expenses that you don't really need you got them?

So just really looking at those situations being honest with that, you know, do you need to increase your income?

If you're in a situation with debt, there's I don't want it We don't have enough time for me to go too deep into all of that, but there's different ways you can

I'm gonna say go about that depending on the situation What may make look sense for you?

So again, it just really depends on the person's exclusive situation and what makes sense

for them.

I'm gonna give the listeners

The number again, eight, three, three, two, one, two, 10, 17, eight, three, three, two, one, two, 10, 17.

Maybe you have a question for coach Erica to kind of get her back in the swing of things.

We do have a couple of comments.

One person says, okay, okay.

Well, he likes that.

Oh, he likes the.

Thank you, Sir Chauncey says, okay, okay, Miss Vivian King, you're doing big things today.

Coming off a great call in conversation with the great George, but somebody says, hello, Queens, to both of us.

Hello.

And they thank you so much.

They say it's the voice of the great Vivian King, Eastside Corey says, hello, love this show.

So thank you so much.

I want you guys to talk about what do you need?

financially, what what kind of advice do you need money wise that coach Erica can help you with?

And I have a question for you.

Yes, Erica.

What is one belief about money that people need to unlearn?

A belief about

money that they need to unlearn.

Hmm.

I would say a belief.

that we need to unlearn when it comes to money would come to, I'm gonna pick on savings

for a little bit.

I've run into a lot of people who say they can't save, but I believe there's this belief out there that in order to save, you have to save a big amount.

And I disagree with that.

So one of the things that I teach in my workshops to both kids and adults is that savings is about traction.

And when I, when I say traction, I want you to picture snow on the ground.

When the, when the car is driving, you see the tracks of the tire.

It has movement.

And so savings, in my opinion, is the same way.

Savings is about getting started and doing it.

So to me, if you can only save 20.

40, 30, 50, 100, whatever that looks like for your income of what you can afford to save per paycheck, per month, depending on, you know, the schedule of your income that you have, then I would say you need to say what you can say.

It doesn't necessarily have to be a big amount.

The key is to start saving because whether it's a lower amount or a huge amount,

If you be consistent and you save even $5, if you save $5 a check, guess what?

That $5 adds up over time.

You

have traction compared to when you save nothing, you have nothing to fall back on.

You have no emergency fund.

You have no traction.

Your savings has no movement because you didn't start.

So to me, we all just need to start where we can.

And also remember that it's okay to be flexible.

with savings.

And what I mean by being flexible is that, okay, maybe this is where my finances allows me to start now with savings.

But

then as things change and they get better for me, then maybe my flexibility and savings can go up and now I can start to begin to save larger amounts.

And then that also goes to what we were talking about because life is

Life, life.

So,

you know, don't be surprised

that, you know, like I said, I got out of debt once and I got back in debt again.

It happens,

right?

So going back to that flexibility piece, if something changes where you need to bring the savings back down to a certain amount, be okay with being flexible in that, but don't stop.

Keep the traction going.

because it does accumulate over time.

And we need to have that emergency fund available to us.

Right.

It's kind of like you put in a bank kind of compound interest and.

Absolutely.

Yeah.

Just put something in there.

Put something in there.

Right.

Yeah.

What can someone do this weekend to feel more in control of their finances?

Put yourself on a budget.

They don't want to hear that.

Put yourself on a budget.

Yes.

You are a bill too.

So look at yourself as a bill.

What am I paying myself for the weekend?

So I paid all my bills.

I got everything sorted out in my budget.

What's my allowance for the weekend?

So my allowance, you know, if it's 200, that's what I got to spend.

I'm staying within my limits of what I have to spend.

A lot of times people don't realize that they, you know, they have to pay themselves.

but also stay in control of that.

Because I'll give you an example.

The weekend, you're right, it's Friday, right?

The brewers run there.

One,

there's lots happening, celebration.

And now you're just out, just swipe, swipe, swipe in a way.

And before you know it, Monday coming is like,

oh shoot, YOLO.

You only live once and then

you're like,

uh.

And then

Monday is like, wait a minute, what happened here?

Like I really spent this much money.

And so it's just, you know, that discipline and being in control and being aware of what it is that you do have.

So just really being mindful, spending with in the means of what you have to spend.

So you don't overspend and a good way to do that a simple way is putting yourself on a budget.

So if your budget for

the

weekend is 200, don't go past that 200.

Right.

What if your friend said,

but don't you want to go to this new restaurant?

Well, my favorite saying is, well, how bad do you want things to change?

That's where that discipline come into play.

And that's where that sacrifice.

And people around you, your loved ones, your friends, if they understand what your focus is on your journey to success, they should respect that I can't come to this one this time,

because I gotta

stay focused on what I need to do over here.

Yeah, somebody asked me, are you going to the World Series game?

And I was like, I will probably watch it on TV.

Yeah,

I'm not really a baseball person, so that wouldn't be a thing for me, but I get

it.

I'm not until it's like the playoffs.

Yeah.

So tell us again about the show and when people can tune in to see it.

Yes.

So tomorrow I will be here bright and early.

Show starts at 11 a.m.

to 12 p.m.

right here, of course, on the award winning 1017 the truth.

I will be here.

We have an amazing guest tomorrow.

We tomorrow are going to be talking about breaking the cycles of generational.

breaking generational cycles, excuse me, and how to build wealth for your family.

So that's going to be our topic of discussion tomorrow, amongst other things.

So if you are available, whether you're in the car or you can hop on YouTube or Facebook live, make sure you are there.

Thank you so much, Coach Erica.

Thank

you.

And

thanks for joining

us to Madison.

You can just

nod.

And we'll be right back.

Welcome

back, Truth Nation.

This is Viv's view on our faith and fun Friday.

I love that song by Lettuce.

How you gonna add to me?

That's what I tell the people.

That's what I tell the men who, okay, how you gonna add to me?

That's what I wanna know.

I may not say that, but in my head, I'm thinking that because I have a decent little life going on.

And I just want things to add to it.

This has been such a fun Friday.

Faithful and fun.

And so I want you to call in and let me know what you liked about it.

What did you learn from George Wallace and Erica Odom?

Who taught you to keep laughing when life gets hard and right now life is hard for a lot of people.

Gas prices are just crazy.

Groceries are just crazy high.

But, you know, inflation is what it is.

And so we got to deal with that right now until we make a change, hopefully, when we are counting down to the midterms.

What else?

What is what is one step you are willing to take toward a goal before next Friday?

You know, it could be about money.

It could be about your mindset.

I love that coach Erica They're both of us are you know have done our shows in the past hers was on radio mine was on TV But now we're on back on the radio And the radio is new for me, but I mean new in this format I should say I've been on the radio before and I have a degree in broadcasting But yeah, what?

It's it's been it's it's tough right now.

It's tough right now lots of things going on, but George Wallace just had me cracking up today He is and I love how he He loves Milwaukee, you know, he was here before and and I loved how he talked about You know Marlin Hill who is who is excellent as far as comedians go

Marlin Hill does the best Barack Obama imitation impersonation that I have ever heard or seen.

So if you ever have a chance to see Marlin Hill, you need to ask him to do that.

What will you do the weekend to make room for both joy and progress?

Because we are coming up on the weekend That's why that's why I want Fridays to be about faith and fun Because on Sunday I go to church One thing one thing that I do to find joy is I'm one of our praise dancers I in this is October is always a women's month for Christ the King Baptist Church and so last women's month

They tell you to, hey, join a different ministry and try something new.

So I decided to try something new.

And I decided that I would try praise dancing.

And so it was a lot of fun.

And I decided to stay with praise dancing because it gives me a way to just give God the glory and just show my faith and display my faith.

I have Sir Chaunce in the chat.

YouTube chat says, uh, oh, he, he liked one of our songs coming in.

I like it by the bars.

He says by one of Detroit's great groups, the barge is also just one of his countless favorites that made that they, they made in the eighties.

And he says, yes, he's biased being that he was born and raised in Detroit.

You know, I really do like Detroit.

Sometimes Detroit gets a bad rap, but I have always.

had a great time in Detroit.

I think it's a great city.

It's right up there next to Canada.

And but it's cool.

I like the whole Motown scene.

You know, they they have a good little food scene as well.

I like Detroit.

And now I will say at first years ago, because I used to live in Battle Creek, Michigan, which is.

smack dab in the middle of the state off of 94 and it's in between Detroit and and Oh gosh, what is that?

I can't even think of the other Well between Chicago and Detroit between Chicago and Detroit, but

I love Detroit.

It's, it's, it's a cool little place.

And, um, you know, I just think it's cool.

I just think it's cool.

So yes, in Detroit, I will say that people in Detroit that I have met, that I went to school with at University of Missouri, that I've just met, are just cool people, really cool people.

So I love that.

833-212-1017.

Talk to me before I get out of here.

It's 340.

I'll be out at four.

And I'm just interested in what you think about George.

If you're going to be listening to Erica tomorrow, I am interested in her.

What I liked about her and what she said was that life is always changing.

And so you never know.

Like she said, she got out of debt, then went back into debt.

And depending on what is happening in your life, you just never know.

You know, somebody made somebody in your family may need something.

They

may

borrow money from you.

You may have a health issue that drained some of your dollars.

I don't have kids, but people are sending kids to school.

So there are a lot of things that really drain at your finances.

And then.

of course, you know, the economy.

And so our economy right now is is crazy.

And especially with wars going on and the Strait of Hormuz and and, you know, gas just skyrocketing.

I haven't seen gas this high.

And I don't think I've I mean, I guess it came down a couple pennies most recently, but.

It's still high, you know $3 and $4 that's over $4 in a lot of places, you know, I have a couple of Locations that I try to check out before I gas up Oh Sir chance yes, he says you're likely referring to Kalamazoo that's in between Chicago and Detroit.

Yeah, I actually lived in Battle Creek Yep, also if you lived in Battle Creek

Back in the days You likely remember all of Kellogg's cereal.

Yes was so dirt cheap.

Yeah, absolutely That was one thing that surprised me about Battle Creek because Battle Creek is the home of Kellogg's then the weird thing is I'm really not a cereal person and so You know, I ate all the sugary cereal like if I did eat cereal I did like frosty flakes.

I did like honeycomb as well but but

The thing is, I'm not a big milk person.

And so I would have to put the milk in the cereal and eat it really fast before it got cold.

I mean, before it, before the, before the cereal got soggy.

But that's, that's, hey, that's just me and my cereal.

We got to go to a break.

We'll be right back and close out the show after that.

Intertise your soul and open up your Mind Truth Nation.

Viv's View with Vivian King will be right back on the award-winning 1017 The Truth.

view that

is.

Yes, thank you, Laura, for all you've done for me.

Welcome back to Viv's View, coming to you live from the American Family Insurance Studios here on 1017 FM The Truth, the award-winning, I should say, 1017 FM The Truth.

This has been Faith Fridays, Faith and Fun Fridays.

And we've been having fun and keeping a little faith.

And I hear we have Al on the line.

which I'm so happy to hear from.

Hey, Al, how you doing today?

I'm doing fine.

I just wanted to tell you to have a good weekend.

You know, prices is high because they thought it was white to be racist and white.

That's why they can't afford to get their bill fixed.

So when I see them outside asking for money so they can take that money and take it to the dope man, I asked them.

My first thing I asked them because they got white privilege.

And a lot

of them

came over here from the south side.

I asked them, did you believe in your Jesus?

They say, yeah, I said, well, I asked them for some money and I keep on stopping.

No.

So they figured out, they figured out about that racism and they down at the food pantry.

So who got the last laugh now?

Collar greens and neck bones and cornbread to get to have yourself a great weekend.

Thanks, Al.

Bye.

Oh my gosh.

I love Al.

And I'm now looking at the YouTube chat and yes, dvj73 says, I love cereal, but don't like milk.

So I use a fork to eat it.

Milk runs through the fork, but the cereal is wet.

That is so true.

Interesting.

That would work with honeycomb if I even ate that.

Whenever I do drink milk, I don't smell it.

I hate the smell.

Oh yeah, that's true.

and don't let it be spoiled.

Oh my gosh.

And it spoils too quickly too.

My mother, she will do, you know, have milk.

Usually I think I'm not, I don't know when she, why she gets milk, but, but I don't drink it.

And so I make it just a little bit for her so that she can have it.

Sir Chan says, when we ran out of milk during.

Oops, I didn't buy enough milk times We took to simply improvising being using cold water.

Oh Just how does that taste?

I mean, I guess it I Can't even imagine wasn't bad with the honey trickling off the Combs in the

okay.

Okay.

All right.

Okay, honey combs.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah

Jasmine says she's love Jasmine and

DVJ73, Jasmine says, I love Al.

DVJ73 says, shout out to Al.

And if you, in the, in our last few minutes, if anybody wants to call in and let me know what they think about, what they learned from, from George Wallace, who was hilarious to me and just very funny.

I could talk to him all the time.

And also Erica Odom.

You gave me a hot key too.

He gave you what

he gave me a hockey.

Oh George

watch this

I Love it

Oh, that's gonna be great.

And hopefully we'll hear that hotkey a lot of times.

That'll be, yeah, if somebody says something we don't like, we will do that.

But just don't say it for me.

He did it anyway.

He did it anyway.

Yes, DBJ73.

Dang, you had Wallace on.

Yes.

Go back and listen.

He's so funny.

We had to get his camera right, you know.

He says he's the, I think he said he was the oldest comic working right now.

And you know, he may be true because he is up there.

I want to say he's like maybe, I don't know, 79

or something.

I don't know.

Damn.

Yeah.

So, but hey, if like once I get to that age, I want to, at least if I want to work, I want to be able to do it.

I think that would be great.

So yeah, he was very cool.

Um, yes.

Thank you so much.

DJ DVJ 73 says have a good weekend, Miss King and DJ brother Z. She's saying you see that.

Have a good weekend.

Uh, yeah, it is Friday.

So this is the fifth day for Vibs view.

My debut week.

We've had some really fun shows.

I mean, some serious topics and fun topics on Monday.

We recognize breast cancer awareness week.

month I should say breast cancer awareness month and really talked about you know policy and and various topics and you know what we need from our state legislature Tuesday we started our countdown to the midterms because the November 3rd election is fast approaching and we need people to exercise their right to vote

Wednesday we talked about blacks and baseball and so we had former brewer Larry Heisel on The legendary Homer blow is coming up next and waving at me I love Homer and it was fun being on his show before my show started I guess about a week or so ago.

He wasn't there though.

You weren't there He was off, but you know, I guess if he you know, he's got a

He can't do radio every day, so I understand.

I don't think Signal is good in Bermuda Triangle.

Was he in the Bermuda Triangle?

Oh my gosh.

Yup, that's what we're doing, Homer.

That's what we're doing.

That's what we're doing.

Homer's coming on.

Hey, welcome to Vibb's View.

Hey, it is an honor and a pleasure to be here to finish.

You've been having such...

an amazing show because you're an amazing woman.

Thank you.

You're a powerful woman.

You are a role model to so many other women and young girls that are coming up.

And that's what it's about because sometimes people don't understand that there are different views.

Yes.

So you may hear this view and you may hear that view.

Right.

You

need to hear this view.

Yay, yes.

That part.

That part.

I was

in Bermuda.

Oh my gosh, I want to go to Bermuda.

I hear it's

nice.

It's awesome.

Because I love traveling

that that part that part and and you know, there are one of the things that always tell people all the time It's like we have to take time for us.

We

do

we are so busy You're so busy.

I'm busy busy.

You know, everybody's busy But if we don't take time for us the people who look for us to help them

We'll never

get a break.

We won't so you have to take some time

Because you're that important you need to be able to recharge and so that's what it's about.

So yeah,

so you're gonna be on my list Yes, yes, yes, I love it.

And so you're coming up next.

What are you doing?

Yeah, the truth town hall

Yeah, he

was in Wednesday and Thursday and so yeah, I'll be on today just trying to get

I'm going to call it town hall meeting.

Yeah, you can do it.

You can

do it.

Earlier, I was at the Love Over Violence Conference with the City of Milwaukee Department of Community Wellness and Safety.

Shout out to Karen Tyler.

Shout out to Quinn and everybody over there that made this possible.

So talking about BB

and things like that.

It was

a great two-day event.

You know what?

I'm going to be talking about domestic violence on Monday.

Yeah.

Oh, you

got a lot of work.

Yep.

Absolutely.

Sad that you got a lot of work.

Exactly.

Out of current situations.

Totally.

And one, one person we're going to be talking to is Wendy Marie Dorch, who used to be at CBS 58.

Yeah.

Left and went to Cleveland.

Now she's in Chicago, but in that transition had an issue.

And so we're going to listen to her.

And

so nobody, unfortunately, nobody is exempt.

Exactly.

That's what she shows.

That's what she shows.

Thanks for stepping in Homer.

Absolutely my pleasure.

I love

you.

I love you too.

Yay the feeling is mutual.

So hey you guys I think that's it for Vibes Vue this week.

I will be back Monday and of course we'll have we'll have our weekend views from

Drake Bentley and the Milwaukee Courier and we'll be talking about domestic violence and hearing a very powerful story and then learning how to move past that.

And hopefully we can prevent it one day.

But thanks for joining us.

There are so many different views out there, but when you tune in here...
