History was made on Friday at the Wisconsin State Capitol with the unveiling of a statue dedicated to Vel Phillips, believed to be the first statue honoring a Black woman outside any state capitol in the United States. It’s a deserving honor for a true Wisconsin trailblazer whose milestones are being remembered as the nation moves toward electing the first Black women president.
