First we have Republican proposals to get more kids into the workforce—can’t get ‘em out of the classroom and into serving liquor in bars fast enough, right? Now, instead of using a record surplus to address the childcare shortage, there’s a new GOP proposal to pack more kids into each classroom and reduce the age at which children can watch other children without supervision. It’s like going back to putting kids in coal mines—and putting childcare centers in there until the wee ones are ready to swing a pickaxe.
