So many wonderful bands from Wisconsin and also Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota.
You know, those are Dutchman, German bands, etc.
They never got to travel too much out of their home area, so you never maybe heard from these guys.
And the thing of the sad reality is that a lot of these bands are pretty popular in their home territory, maybe a three or four-county wide area.

Yes, some nice music by Bruce and the boys the Bruce Bradley band from over Minnesota way I got a whole big stack of Minnesota bands from Jerry Kale Ivan Kale son who played with many of those bands we had Jerry Kale and his wife Sharon stay with us for a day and a half and
tried it to show him them, both of them, a little bit of Wisconsin hospitality, had a delicious meal at Mr. and Mrs. Pease eatery and he could not get over all the food that they provide for a very low cost.
But the best part was I paid for lunch.
He promised that the next time he comes back he'll buy lunch.
I said no problem.
It's always affordable at Mr. and Mrs. Pease.
He got the polar skillet and a side order of the French banana bread toast.
Wow.
Sharon is bright and I, we both had the French bread.
How would you say the banana bread?
French toast?
It was delicious.
Glazed caramels and fruit on the side and syrup.
You know you can get your own polar skillet at Mr. and Mrs. Peace, breakfast quiche, any kind of omelette they have, and so many different entrees too.
We stopped in the next day.
That was last Wednesday.
And then on Thursday we came back again and met up with Tommy Zilgus and Kay and Tom and Joni Delotta.
Had another wonderful brunch over there.
I even managed to get some of Scotty's freshly made squash bisque.
Oh my goodness, is that good.
But to get over there while it's really hot yet and get some wonderful squash bisque from Mr. and Mrs. Pease.

Years ago farmers had a separate building away from the main house where all the cooking was done because otherwise where you slept and tried to relax at the end of a busy day because you didn't have air conditioning.
All you had was open up the windows but if the kitchen was hotter than blazes you'd have to you know have a separate building to do all your meal preparation.

It's sad to see all these wonderful bands from years gone by, you know, but we still have the music yet, so maybe we can make it through some very difficult days when you have a troubling day and you just want to relax.

And I gotta tell you, there's still some time yet for the old folks out there that want to get some concrete work done.
You gotta admit for the most part we've had some pretty screwy weather this summer here in Wisconsin.
Other parts of the world have been devastated by floods and earthquakes and you know tsunamis and all these different weird weather patterns.
We've had a lot of rainy days and things pop up all of a sudden.
That should be of no surprise for the most of us old hearty veterans of Wisconsin weather.
But there's still good days left to get your concrete down.
driveways, big areas, you know, even the barn lots in the behind the shed where the cattle like to stand.
When you get all that rain and snow melting in the spring, you don't want your cattle to be standing knee deep up in mud.
And some farmers, they don't have any choice.
Get a whole a cake reed and have them put down a nice big pad of concrete.
You can always take the skid loader and clean off the deck.
You don't clean everything off.
Or when the rain's coming along, wash it off for you.

I got to tell you there are many wonderful delicious chicken dinners put on by fundraisers and That one was a dandy one.

I had never attended the drive through chicken dinner from the tractor cruise up on top of the hill by the Stone Court.

Got my little buddy from Chilton, Jerry Schneider in the band, and Jerry's going to do the Westphalia Waltz.

I have one of these very first CDs of some re-released music from Minnesota from the 1958, taken from 78s live practice sessions and also a few 45s.
You remember me talking about Earl Schmidt and Jerry Schrupp together?
Well, Jerry Schrupp, I think he played the concertina and Earl Schrupp
Smith played the trombone.
They formed their band later on but at this time they were members of the Ivan Kale Orchestra and they're gonna do one title for you.

That's a good one Ivan Kale and his band from Minnesota from 1958 a very young Jerry Kale He was I think 13 or 14 years old playing sax and clarinet with his dad's band at this present time Jerry's 85 years young and last week Wednesday They popped in to visit with us corky and I spent a day and a half with them They brought their motorhome over and we did a little tour around ripping and had a great time seeing the sights with some people that never were in this area before
I want to talk a little bit if I can right now about the good folks at the Horicon Bank in downtown Ripon.
So many of you senior citizens, I know have worked very hard to get where you are today.
And hopefully the fruits of your labor are paying off for you right now.
You worked hard, you saved some money, you don't have too many bills, maybe just a monthly cable TV or an electrical bill or the rent or whatever you got, maybe even a small car loan.

Mary Lou's folks, Luke Kenny and Velma Lehmann lived right around the corner.
They were wonderful people on the hot summer days.
Kenny would obviously bring me out of a big quart fruit jar of cold ice water because you know on a hot day we're gonna get some cold water.
And he'd bring me a nice cold water to cool down.
Never forgot that.
And Gail and Mary Lou are fine examples and they're kids too.
It's for Gail and Mary Lou from Tuba and Cork and the rest of the band.
We got a song for Timmy.
It's entitled The Little Fellow Walls.
Yeah for Tim and his folks Gail and Mary Lou and Tim you're not such a little guy But I love you just the same pal.
What a wonderful friend, you know I gotta tell you I got an opportunity over these many years on the radio 56 years of doing this show I'm getting to know a lot of you folks personally I guess you can say that's an extra bonus treat and one of the families I got to know really well and love other Brewer family Brewer heating and cooling Doug and Sally
I knew those kids before they got married.
And then they had Johnny and Abby, a son and daughter who are helping more and more of the brewery heating and cooling business.
And now they got two grandkids, little Jonah, stopped in the other day.
I was going to pick it and showing some friends from Minnesota where Corgi used to work on the family farm.
And Johnny Brewer was outside.
So I pulled in there and he came over and we had a reunion.
Man, I haven't seen that guy for ages.
He looks great.
He says he loves a poke of people.
He wants to thank everybody for calling them to get their air conditioning systems up and running properly.
And now they're doing a lot of maintenance on future furnaces.
So get your furnaces checked out so that when weather changes, you're all set to go.
So I saw Johnny's kids, a little girl, I think she was what, a year old, and of course little Jonah.
He's a spitting image of his dad.
Wonderful people, the brewers.
And you know, through these different relationships,
I would like to think that my personality has grown too into something more positive.
I think more of other people, you know, makes a lot of different folks to make up a very interesting world.
The brewers are kind people.
They give you excellent service, a wonderful product.
And so if your furnace or air conditioning system ain't working right, call the brewers.
I know them first hand, and I know they will not leave you astray.

Johnny played trombone in the Ripon High School original polka dots band.
That's where the polka dots started.
And when the school class schedules changed, the kids here in high school in Ripon did not have a scheduled time where they could come and practice.
So the polka dots disbanded in Ripon years ago, 16 years ago.
And then Carl Trager's seventh and eighth graders pick up the bandle.
Starting our 17th year, the polka dots in Oshkosh.

Anyway, Johnny was one of the original members.

So what I do now is when Corgi's not watching, I'll go outside and I'll eat the peanuts myself and find a place to hide the shells.
