While I'm talking about food, recently the tractor crews here in Ripon had their big fundraiser and John and
Danny Heatley and the rest of the crew that put that all together.
Jack Carleton and all the people that volunteered and helped out.
All the volunteers that raised money for all their local schools and charities.
It was a big success.
We had a chicken dinner that the tractor crews people put on.
It was delicious.
I just want to say thank you to all the people that worked so hard to raise money for all their other individuals in our area.

Miss Dolly Parton passed away about two weeks ago after a long suffering about with cancer at the age of 80.

This elderly couple, man and woman, go to see the doctor.
They're getting up in their age and the doctor suggested, because they might be both getting a little forgetful, to start writing things down.
As a reminder, do you do that?
I have to write things down.
I heard this story a long time ago, several years ago, and perhaps I told it to you then, but I'm gonna share it with you again.
And here it goes.
So this elderly couple goes to see the doctor, and the doctor says, start making notes to yourself to remind you of things that you have to do, so you don't forget.
Well later that night, the elderly couple are at home watching TV, and the wife gets up and says, would you like an ice cream sundae?
and the husband says, yeah.
So she goes into the kitchen and then she comes back and she says, would you like some nuts on your ice cream sundae?
And the husband says, yeah, you better write that down.
You know, the doctor said that, you know, we might be getting a little forgetful.
Write down nuts on a slip of paper.
She said, no, no, I won't forget.
That's easy.
So she goes back in the kitchen and she comes back a little later and she says, would you like some whipped cream on top of your sundae?
and the husband said well don't you think you better write it down it's getting a little long thing a lot of things for you to remember she said no no i'll remember the whipped cream so she goes back in the kitchen and then she comes back a little while later she says would you like a maraschino cherry on top of your whipped cream and he said well don't you better write that down because you got a lot to do she said no i won't forget that you know cherry
So she goes back in the kitchen and she comes back another time and says, would you like a sliced banana on the side of your Sunday?
He says, yeah, that does sound pretty.
Now that that's a long list.
You better write it down.
Oh, I'll remember that.
So she goes back in the kitchen and about three minutes later, she comes out with a platter, a tray full of bacon and eggs.
The husband looked at her and says, where's my toast?

Not everybody has the ability to get to their church on Sunday that might either be inferred under the weather or they just can't get out and about or they're on a road traveling to a destination.
In some ways we don't really want to take the place of your house of worship but it does help a little bit of get you in the mindset for what Sunday is supposed to be all about.
Tomorrow's Labor Day, a day to celebrate.
And Chad says, make sure you do it safely with family and friends.
If you're traveling any distance, make sure you leave early and come back early and avoid the crunch and the heavy traffic congestion on the highways late in the day tomorrow.

Antonin Alfred Varazzo played for over 60 years together as two brothers, and they also ran a big ranch down there too in Bookholz, Texas.
Had a chance to visit those guys.

David and Ellis age 83 from Green Lake passed away on August 25th.
So I kindly ask you to remember Dave's family and David in your prayers today and as we go through into the future days and weeks and years ahead.

I gotta tell you I never got to meet David but I heard some really nice things about him when he was alive too.
He loved his God, his family, his community, and I think even his little business too.
So remember the Ellis family as you go throughout the day to day and even say a few prayers for all the other members in your community that have recently passed away.
Our local Hypey grocery store right here in town on Ripon's west side is always at it, trying to find innovative things.
I made my first Apple Square cake.
I use a
big cake sheet up, and I put it in there and I stack the apples on end.
You know, first I core the apples, peel and core them, and then I take out any little husk on the inside.
Corky helps me with that.
Then we stand the apples on end, on the side, you know?
Like little rings going right down the cake.
Little bit of cinnamon, a little bit of extra butter, some brown sugar, and away you go.
And then after it cools, I put on light frosting glaze on top, like a clear glaze.
powdered sugar with a little what they call it oil you put in there with this almond and it's always good why don't you try making one yourself get your apples and your pie crust and all your ingredients for making your own apple square cake if you can I tried something different the other day I bought some shaved ham off the bone in the deli got some sliced cheese
Then I picked up some hot dog buns and some hot dogs and I made a hot dog Warmed up the hot dog before I put the hot dog in a bun.
I took a slice of shaved ham Lay that down in the side of the bun slice of cheese and then the hot dog on top a little bit of ketchup and mustard And I tell you that is a unique flavor you must try that little shaved ham off the bone Then a cheese then the hot dog and whatever condiments you want to put on top
you know, mustard or ketchup.
It is a delicious meal right in the hands and the fingers of your hand right there.
The Hy-Vee grocery store has all these different things you can try seven days a week from six in the morning to ten at night.
Get over there and don't forget kids are back to school.
Get something nutritious for them to enjoy when they come home from classes.
