We got Ray Conkel in his first big band before he went to play concertina with Ray Dorschner, and then later with his own little band, but this is when he had his big band way back in the 50s.

Years ago, I heard the saying, the world's a lot smaller than you think it is.
The tuba player with that band, the Dallas Brothers, was Russell Rank.
He ran a small TV repair store in downtown Kiwani at the bottom of the Big Hill.
And Nate Rank is Danny Jr.'
's, our son's, brother-in-law.
His uncle was Russell Rank.

Anyway, Russell Reich, tuba player, great guy, got to know him in later years.
He has since passed away many years ago, but a hell of a nice guy.

We all have bumps in our roads through our lives travels, but it depends how deep those bumps are and how quickly you can repair them.
I think it's okay to miss somebody that's passed away.

Being an entertainer for these many, many decades, over six and a half decades, I can tell you that when you get to meet people, so many of them impacted your life, it's very difficult to forget them really easily.
All of the wonderful musicians and all the things we've shared, experiences, and that's what makes all of our lives so interesting.

When we were down there, many, many, about three and a half decades ago or more, we took some bus trips down to Texas with the Polka Landers Band, and I gotta tell you, they sure were some great hosts.
We rolled into this one ranch, and we did not know the people other than the fact that they were friends of the browsles.
They were showing us around.
They had a big
pecan plantation there.
And what did they do?
They brought out coolers of ice cold refreshments for everybody on our Glamrs buses.
There was about 120 of us or so.
A lot of people went on tours with us years ago.
I'm kind of envious of those individuals.
Those of you that are still pretty spry out there.
Corky and my, our lives have changed a little bit.
We've slowed down considerably.
And I don't know why it is.
Maybe it's just the fact that
We can still do what we do, but we try the best that we can.
The good folks at Prairie Place know that when you become a senior citizen, a lot of things in your life will change.
Your ability to do a lot of the tasks that you could accomplish easily yesterday or last week.
And you find it more and more difficult to complete these things in a timely fashion.
I guess some people would say that's the process of getting old, but the fact that we're still around for our family and friends, that has to come for some things too.
Lead a good Christian life, thank the Lord for the things that He still gives us, and don't ask for too much in return.

Why don't you get all your brothers and sisters together and consider buying Dad one of those brand new Bobcat zero turn riding lawnmowers from Pre-B sales and service on Ripman's west side.

Time for all of us to thank farmers for all the different things that they provide from milk to vegetables, etc.
So many of us choose different lines of occupations to go into when we get out of high school or college.
Some of you might even been fortunate enough to work on the farm with your folks and eventually take over the family farm and you're still there yet.
And to all of you, I applaud all the hard work you put in.
You get up earlier than most of us, and you work longer hours, even into the evening, than the rest of us.
