Great morning, Truth Nation.

Welcome to Truth in the Morning on the award-winning 101.7 FM.

As we break has live from the American Family Insurance Studio in the heart of downtown at the Avenue.

I'm the legendary Homer blow along with my girl Bailey

Coleman.

How you doing and feeling this morning?

I

am great this morning, Homer.

How are you?

I'm blessed.

I'm blessed.

You know, had a chance to watch the debate.

Oh, that was great.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Listen, I am so proud and this is why

in my opinion, Tom Tiffany did not want to have more than one debate.

But our county executive, David Crowley

came through.

Oh, majorly, majorly with facts and receipts.

There it is.

You know, you know, so and you could see, well, for me, and from my viewpoint of it.

you could see the uncomfortableness of Tom Tiffany.

You could see the frustration of Tom Tiffany.

You could see that he was on the ropes.

Tom Tiffany was on the ropes.

Kept drinking a lot of water.

And then when he chose to, how he chose to do his dismount, you know, when they say you've both got a minute left, you know.

Right.

David Crowley had to go first And what did he end up?

When my plane crashed You know the sympathetic I'm like really that I mean that's when you know somebody just really really just reaching

right

like just reaching like

It makes you wonder it makes you wonder if the plane crash was real

Yeah,

well, you know, and it's saying pilot error.

They did come out and say that it was pilot

error.

Oh, see, they kept that part kind of quiet.

They just brought that out recently.

That came out on a Saturday night or something.

Whatever.

No one was paying attention.

You know,

they hide news on Friday.

It was like, uh, it was his, uh, oh, my life.

I had to fight.

That was this moment.

Like.

I survived a plane.

You know, like, come on, bro.

Like, you know how much we didn't try to survive in this community, especially with you siding with the orange man on everything.

Everything.

And you know

what?

Detrimental,

you

know, more than just black people, it's detrimental to people,

period.

Exactly.

Exactly.

And he wants everyone is.

I thought I heard a quote about him saying something about he wants everyone, uh, to, uh, the police and everyone to cooperate with ice.

Yes.

Yes.

Yes.

Yes.

Well, well, it, it was, uh, you know, if doing too much was a person, but like I say, wow, he, he made his last remarks.

Like it was the ending of Titanic.

Could you hear the music?

That was the only thing that was missing.

That was the only thing that was

missing.

Celine Dion in the background.

It

was, you know, it was a defeated, you know what I'm saying?

Opponent in that debate.

Right.

And again.

I love the confidence because it was facts that David Crowley exuded during that whole debate.

Right.

The confidence level.

Yes.

He came.

Yes, he did.

To debate.

Yes, he did.

And what I also felt about that debate was it was like, I've been holding this stuff in for the longest.

Yeah.

We were supposed to go ahead and do another debate and you ran from that one.

Okay.

Right

now.

Let's

get it.

Let's go.

Yeah.

And it was just go time.

Yeah.

You know, and, and again, for those who may try to say that, well, Tom, Tiffany went, you blind, you can't see, you need to get some glasses like DMC.

I'm just saying in, in everything that we need in a governor, I heard from David Crowley last night during that debate.

Absolutely.

You know.

from, you know, him trying to do the cut-offs and come in and, well, no, well, he said this, no, and he couldn't give straight answers for nothing in the world.

hit.

He could play some hell of a dodgeball because he was dodging.

Well, he kept accusing.

He accused David Crowley of not answering questions

and which is not.

Dodging.

Yeah, he was.

I'm telling you, he was the one that you're trying to hit with the dodgeball.

You know what I'm saying?

So he wasn't the one shooting the dodge.

Right.

He was

who?

Who?

Right.

Oh, you

almost had me.

Yeah.

You know what I'm saying?

So.

But I love to hear.

from Truth Nation this morning, if you had a chance to watch the debate and even if you had a chance to see some of the excerpts from the debate.

Yeah, we want to hear from you this morning because in my opinion, David Crowley was just the undefeated winner of that particular debate.

There there should be no questions.

A lot of people who make and he he didn't black down on the things that he said that he stood for and and when he was given examples of.

Uh, the abortion and, and Tom Tiffany kept saying, uh, well, you know, five months, five months.

And then when David Crowley gave the example of the real life example of a woman that was 20, you know what I'm saying?

And, and, and, uh, it was a real life or death situation and, um, that the baby would not have survived and all of that.

And he was like, but.

But would you do this?

Would you do this?

But it's like, right?

Where are you?

Are you a part of the planet?

Right?

Or you just so magga to the to the.

You know what

I'm saying?

It's like you are.

You don't even understand that.

And I need you to understand like, brother, we ain't talking about the black women.

And no, it was women.

You know, David Crowley was just he was straightforward and direct.

So the.

True talk text lines are open 833-212-1017.

You can text us, you can call us, join in.

Great morning to everybody on our YouTube page.

While you're there, make sure you hit the like and subscribe button.

You can also watch us live on Facebook.

And all of this is at one on 170 truth.

But on Facebook, make sure you hit the like and the follow.

Yes, when you get the notifications and we'll pop up.

But we definitely want to hear from you.

Absolutely.

I have my thought.

You're hearing some of my thoughts and opinions of the debate.

I think that David Crowley handled it masterfully.

Like, like it was like he's meant like he he's a governor.

Right.

You know what I'm saying?

Like,

I mean, let's be realistic.

Tom he really got a whole lot in the game when it comes to managing governmental entities, you know what I mean?

He served in the in the house, right?

Right here and the state and but David Crowley has managed the county yes the biggest county in Wisconsin that part so he knows how to manage

you know, a big entity versus someone who hasn't done that.

And we all see what Tom Tiffany is about and what he's trying to do.

Yep.

I mean, so, you know, if you want to vote for the orange guy again, and, you know, we can keep the prices, the way they are and gas prices, almost $6 a gallon.

I

mean,

just ridiculous.

Absolutely.

That's what you want.

That's who you need to vote for all I'm saying that's up to you.

I'm telling you, we got a chance and like I say, all of this procrastination of trying to come up with reasons why not to vote.

Listen, vote.

Yeah,

vote.

If you choose to vote, you know, I'm not going to tell you who I will vote for.

I will.

Well, I don't know who I'm voting for.

Openly.

Yeah, I'm just saying, you know, when we're talking about elections, we know

You know, we can't tell you but you vote.

Yeah.

Use

that.

Make sure you get out and exercise your right and make a plan.

Right.

Are you doing it on the day of or do you feel like you want to do it in advance?

Or absolutely.

Yeah, absolutely.

I've done it both

ways.

You

know, I wouldn't the the times I feel like dealing with the crowd and just being amongst everybody Then I'll vote on the day

up, right?

But if I don't feel like it and I ain't trying to see y'all out there then I go

Right, you know,

whatever floats your boat,

right?

And here's here's my thing for some of those who just be like, well, I'm not going I'm not going this person this person that person for those of you who feel that way in my opinion

Listen, I don't want to ever hear you go black and talk about the days of slavery and what happened in 1800 I don't want to hear you use any of that rhetoric I don't want to hear you use any of that because again here you go We got people who fought hard just to say like look we have the right we deserve to be able to vote to and You'd rather throw it away on something that and then still write a whole

dissertation on Facebook or social media about how bad it is.

And this is terrible and all of that.

Like, like just just keep all that.

Just keep it.

Keep all of that.

I don't want to hear or see.

Well, and look how this is.

Guess what?

All those things happen because of people who are elected.

Exactly.

So you don't understand that.

Yeah, show that why it's important.

You already know.

So to not, it's to say that you're comfortable with how things are.

Exactly.

And which is crazy.

Which is, I mean, if that's how they feel, that's how you feel.

That's how you feel.

You know,

right?

But I don't want to hear no

complaints.

I'm allergic to the ESEs.

Before we take our first break, again, make sure you call in.

You're waking up to Truth in the Morning with Homer Blow and Bailey Coleman on the award-winning 1017 The Truth live on YouTube and 1017thetruth.com.

Welcome black truth nation truth in the morning.

I'm the legendary Homer blow along with my girl Bailey Coleman and We are talking about the debate To those of you who oh, let's put that up in a poll.

How many of you watched the debate?

I mean, did you watch the debate?

Yes or no So we can have a greater understanding of how many people are

really understanding the things that we're going to be doing and talking about this hour pretty much.

We've got some clips that we will be playing so you can kind of hear the answers and responses from David Crowley and the way that maybe Tom Tiffany may have answered them.

So we'll be playing those throughout the morning so you'll be able to hear all of that.

Tracy Hayes, great morning.

Love you.

Appreciate you.

What is that?

Thank you.

Yes.

Thank you for your super chat.

Thank you very much.

We love and appreciate that.

Make sure you participate in the poll.

Did you watch the debate?

Yes or no?

And some people may have gotten the excerpts, you know, different questions

like

some of the clips that we'll be playing.

And you know, what did you get out of it?

What did you think?

Who do you think came out, you know, just

Shining like a governor,

you know,

who did you see come out?

Who did you see as governor

now?

Right, right now listen Your guy Tom look like I was like wait a minute

Is that Scott Walker up there?

No, no, no, no.

What's his name?

What was the governor we had before him?

Not not the not the Democratic dude, not Doyle.

What was it?

Who was prior to Doyle?

Well, Tommy Thompson.

Yeah,

I like is that Tommy Cousin?

Yeah, that time

cousin up there.

But

even Tommy wouldn't.

He's not that far to the right.

Top Tiffany is straight, Maga.

And

if you thought anything else shame on you,

yeah Sir chance you said on our YouTube page said if you look close at times facial expressions You should have been able to decipher that he felt overmatched Intimidated almost as if he felt like he was in a fight.

He could not win because That's that's the truth if you that's all if you do not use your discrimination

If you do not use your discrimination or your hatred for a certain group of people, then you will absolutely be able to see that we should be talking about Governor David Crowley.

You feel what I'm saying?

Like, he couldn't even, he just, it was just a mismatch.

It was like, Tom Tiffany, why are you even here?

And that's just my honest opinion.

from watching the debate, breaking it down, you know, deciphering this and deciphering that.

And that's what I came up with.

But you know, we we live in a society now, in my opinion, that so many people will cut off their nose despite their

face.

Yeah.

Oh, people do it all the time.

You know, so

absolutely, absolutely.

So yeah.

But we got the clip.

Are we doing the ice clip?

We're going to.

We're gonna do an excerpt from the debate last night and we'll be doing a few of these or maybe some Just to kind of let you hear the response to these different questions.

So we're gonna start out with the Sheriff working with ice and You're gonna see and hear that you Xavier great morning.

Love you appreciate you.

We're gonna play that clip

It'll be right black.

challenging the legality of ICE detainers in Wisconsin, a federal agreement that allows Wisconsin sheriffs to work with federal immigration officials in county jails.

Mr. Tiffany, you have expressed support for ICE detainers.

Would you attempt to mandate all Wisconsin sheriffs work with ICE?

So sheriffs should work with ICE.

And when you talk to most sheriffs around the state of Wisconsin, they do exactly that.

And here's why this is important.

If you have an illegal alien in your state and they have committed a crime,

The only people that can remove that illegal alien are federal agents.

Your county sheriff cannot.

So if you have someone that's in your county jail, it requires federal law enforcement to do it.

Here's what I will do.

I will make sure that local, county, and state law enforcement coordinate with federal law enforcement, coordinate their actions that way when a detainer is issued from federal law enforcement saying there is an illegal alien that has committed a crime, that federal law enforcement can work seamlessly to remove them because it's best to remove them.

them when they're in a setting like the county jail, rather than out in the public.

Would you

mandate that

by law?

Yes, I believe they should honor detainers by the federal law enforcement.

Mr. Crowley, Milwaukee County, where you are county executive, does not participate and refuses to work with ICE.

Why is that?

And would you attempt to ban sheriffs from working with ICE?

Well, I want to be very clear.

I don't support just a blanket ban when it comes down to cooperation.

We need to follow the law.

And as governor, I will enforce the law.

There are certain priorities I have when it comes down to ICE being in the state of Wisconsin.

First and foremost, we need to make sure that there are no contracts when it comes down to our local police departments and our shares.

We hire our local PD and our shares to protect our local communities.

If they can't do their job, which is based off of trust, how can we make sure that undocumented immigrants will call the police when they see a fire, when somebody's actually in need, because we've erode that trust?

The other thing that we need to make sure that we make sure is a place when it comes down to ISIS, that they cannot wear masks.

They must show a badge, and they cannot incite fear.

They have to let us know that they're in these communities.

And then third, they cannot come into our jails and our prison without a judicial warrant.

We need to make sure that we're protecting people's civil liberties.

We have community members who are so afraid, who have been in this country since they were little kids, who work on the dairy farms that are in Congressman Tom Tiffany's district, who work in our factories, who help build our homes, who are taking care of our most vulnerable populations.

If we're talking about prosecuting...

criminals that we need to do that and they absolutely need to be deported.

But that's not what's been happening

under this federal administration.

You would not attempt to ban the sheriffs from working with ICE just to put a fine point on that.

Excuse me?

You would not push to ban sheriffs from working with ICE.

I don't

think none of our local police departments nor sheriffs should be working with ICE.

So this is a key difference in this campaign and this is a very clear contrast between the two of us.

David has said he will be not just an ally, but an accomplice for illegal aliens.

An accomplice for illegal aliens that commit violent crimes.

I mean, think about the 12 year old girl from Fond du Lac that was tied up by an illegal alien and threatened to sexually assault her.

Are we going to protect somebody like that?

I don't believe we should.

We should make sure that we work with federal law enforcement, do it in a coordinated fashion, and remove those who have committed crimes.

David said he wants to be an accomplice to that.

I'm going to make sure that we have safe streets here.

I

was just very clear right before the congressman said anything that anybody who has criminal behavior and they have been prosecuted

They need to be deported.

I've been very clear on that.

And we need to make sure that we are protecting our communities.

As governor, that's going to be our number, my number one priority is making sure that we have safe communities that we focus on public safety.

When it comes down to public safety, like I can't take Congressman Tom Tiffany's series when it comes down to public safety.

I mean, we're talking about someone who literally prays the pardons of January six years, people who beat up cops, some of them who are convicted of child molestation.

We're talking about someone

who actually protected the billionaire class by voting against the release of the Epstein file.

So when it comes down to public safety, I just can't take the congressman

seriously.

He has said that he wants to remove half of the prison inmates here in Wisconsin.

By definition, that will cause people with violent backgrounds out on the streets of Wisconsin.

He also said a few years ago, we should have the conversation about defunding the police.

That's why the Milwaukee Police Union and Milwaukee Deputy Sheriff's have endorsed me, not their hometown candidate.

Quick, I want to be

very clear.

You know, I worked with the Republican control legislature to pass Act 12 that brought more money to every single city town village.

to invest in fire, to invest in police, to invest in EMS services.

Matter of fact, your hometown Hazelhurst got a 382% increase because of the deal that I brought to the table.

Every single year that I've been county executive, we have increased funding into the sheriff's office.

And right now we're working on creating the most historic investment and replacing the courthouse without the help of folks like Congressman Tiff.

And there you have it.

I don't think you couldn't

get

more proof in the pudding right there.

They was pretty absolutely letting it go.

You see the frustration on Tom Tiffany's face.

Yeah.

He was like this guy right here.

And then when David Crowley was able to counter what he accused him.

And he's gonna do this he's gonna even I hold on I started out right we got violent criminals They need to be deported exactly period, but the way that this Ice situation is working.

They they they they skip in everything.

Yep shooting and killing people People who are not violent criminals Just you know, they just have in their way.

Yeah, they're having their way We gotta get ready take care of some bills, but troop nation you have

Seen and heard a clip so you can end up knowing and know we're gonna be playing more before we get to our interview in the last half hour of today's show but

Yeah, we want to hear from you.

We want to hear from you.

You're here in my thoughts.

You're here in Bailey's thoughts.

We want to hear from you and your thoughts.

What is the poll looking like before we go to

break?

Did you watch the debate?

Yes at 39% and no at 61% and you know what?

That's why we're here.

We want you to see this.

The only debate unfortunately of this campaign for a governor.

Yes.

And we were able to play one of the clips and again for those who didn't see the debate or

Hear the debate.

That's why we're here.

Yeah, that's we want to know your truth But the these are the times that we need you to be able to speak out and give us your truth Yeah, so the truth text lines are open 8 3 3 2 1 2 10 17 We need to hear from you.

Yeah, we need to hear your thoughts.

I can say you're hearing our thoughts

Yeah,

and we're in our opinion

and we're hitting the highlights for you from the debate.

Yeah,

okay

You don't have to go through all the commercials and stuff that we're in there all that we got.

We took all that out.

That's right.

That's right.

Us and you is debate

that part

courtesy of our friends at WIS and 12.

They did a great job.

Absolutely.

Loved it.

Their work was phenomenal.

Let's get to it.

Yeah.

Tracy Hay said I forgot the debate was coming on, got off work and went to bed.

But yeah, see, but it's these things though that like when you want to really find out.

And I think that, again, a lot of people that may have been undecided about David Crowley.

We really don't know and we don't really know enough and all of that.

You know, one of the things that is interesting to me for those that be saying, well, I don't know enough about

him.

Right.

Y'all sure enough looking at them attack ads.

Hey.

But y'all don't know nothing about

it.

Right.

You know what I'm saying?

We don't do him well enough.

But you believe in an attack.

Right.

He done this.

Yeah.

Hold on.

He proved last night all of those were lies.

Yeah.

He pointed

it all

out.

He broke it down in layman's terms.

So

whereas

you could understand it and he moved all of the smoke and mirrors that Tom Tiffany was using.

And although.

Our county executive Milwaukee County executive David Crowley was respectful and sane congressman.

He would never acknowledge.

David Crowley as the Milwaukee County executive,

of course,

never acknowledged that, which was a blatant total disrespect.

Yeah, but that's all right, because the people that were moderating did.

And that's, you know, and of course, you know, we all know.

So,

you know, and then they had the little, they had the subtitles

down

there.

Right.

If people could read, they knew what it was.

All the Dr. Clarissa Lawrence said, let him cook.

crowd.

Okay.

I know that's what you said.

And with his fearless temperament and aura in general from the very start, David not only insured and validated his five three two zero six street cred slash undisputed black guard.

He did so fearlessly and demonstratively.

Yes.

Let's see Christina Santiago.

Great morning.

Love you.

Appreciate you.

So Tom sure did ignored that Epstein in January six comment.

Okay.

They ate him

up.

Okay.

And did it.

And did it.

And did it.

Blake Gump said he messed around and found out.

Yeah.

He faffos.

My D said Homer Fax.

No lies detected.

They don't know they a homemade.

They're still there.

Right.

You feel what I'm saying?

Blake Gump said David Crowley signs all the way up in Belgium and Eagle, Wisconsin.

Seen it yesterday.

They're everywhere.

Yeah.

As they should be.

You know what I'm saying too.

to let people know.

Yeah.

But yeah, we we definitely want to hear from you.

Jasmine Jazz West said Crowley burnt him up.

Yeah, he

did.

Let's see.

Del Mac.

Great morning.

Will D nine says scared tactics is what Tiffany was doing last night.

No real solution.

Absolutely.

Yeah, absolutely.

Absolutely.

That's exactly what happened.

Erin is him said every time Tiffany called immigrants aliens and made my skin crawl.

You

know, yeah, yeah, just just all of the stuff will deny said Tiffany sounded like a daytime soap opera actor

Well, I mean he wanted people to you know in my opinion he's Sitting back waiting for the whitest right crowd right

multi-billionaires I'm

your only

option right,

you know, I'm your option

And the billionaires are paying to push this message out there.

Yeah.

Oh, yeah.

In a major way.

Yeah.

But I really hope that for those who have been watching all of the attack ads that again has been spewed out there by Tom Tiffany that they were able to see because, you know, we got this gift.

Yeah.

In my opinion that we can look at.

a person.

And I think this is a gift for those of us who were blessed with parents or even if we just had our mother in our lives and we grew up in the household without our biological father in the household, that look be like, oh, she know I'm lying.

She know I'm lying.

I'm going to get

it.

Oh, that mama look.

Yeah, that mama or that daddy.

Y'all know that

look.

Wait till daddy get home.

Yeah.

Be like that.

I'm whooping your butt when I get off

work.

Listen, listen.

When my mom did feel like it, she'd be like, that's all right.

Yo, I'm going to tell your daddy.

What?

That's

it?

Wait

a

minute.

OK,

OK,

here's

what I did.

I'm going

to go and let you

know.

I wonder if my sister said, can you just whoop me now?

Let's see.

Let's see on the truth.

Talk text before we go to my D. I said as a 40 year old black man born and raised here in Milwaukee, I spent a lot of time working with the Hispanic community and I'm telling you now they think nothing high of black people.

And that's a sad truth.

But when but our caring nature and giving heart.

Oh, this is happening.

We need to support our brothers and sisters.

We call them our brothers and sisters.

I know I do like these are brothers and sisters.

But yeah, they they it is not reciprocated.

But I'm sure they have a different feeling now.

I've heard a lot of them saying brothers and sisters.

Yeah, because they were standing there at the deportation line after a while.

But now they they realize and like dude is is is going too damn far But my D great morning.

Love you appreciate you hear the conversation about the debate.

What's your truth?

I Love you guys love baby baby.

That's my baby

You my buddy.

Yeah, so much to impact here, but I just wanted to share with you guys that I'm up north and these white folks mad, but it's a lot of quality signs.

These farmers, I was pulling some dirt out of this farmer's yard up north.

They mad, but quality going in because a lot of his sons are up north in these yards and they got ads out talking about Tiffany is against abortion and white folks don't play that.

So he's done.

He's cooked.

Well, he's not cooked

until we get our ass out of the book.

Yeah, we gotta get out.

We gotta get out.

Yeah, we gotta get out

there.

Yeah, I

like

the numbers that Sherwin had yesterday of the first day from the first day of early voting when he gave out the information and the numbers, which were definitely impressive.

Yeah.

Yeah,

but once you attack once you once you try to tell white women what to do with their body They're not they're not voting for you unless they really have to Unless they really have to survive bless y'all.

I love y'all and let me let me get this money over where these racist white folks

at

Xavier how long is the the conversation on the legalization of marijuana?

How long is that?

Okay, we're going to play that

and then we're

going to take care of some bills because then we're going to talk about we're going to talk about it.

We're going to talk about it.

So, uh, but yeah, uh, this is the, the part of the debate when they were talking about, uh, legalizing marijuana as not just medicinal, but as recreational as well.

Uh, one had one opinion of it and, uh, David Crowley had another.

And I think it's important.

So we're going to get this.

Clips lined up.

Let me know Xavier when we good we good.

All right We're gonna play this clip and then we'll end up taking care of some bills and come back and talk about it

That's have long advocated to legalize marijuana tax it and use the revenue to fund numerous proposals Nearly half of all states have legalized recreational use including our neighbors in Michigan, Illinois and Minnesota Mr. Tiffany quickly under what scenario would you sign a bill that fully legalized recreational marijuana use in Wisconsin?

So what I would do is I believe we should start with medicinal marijuana I've talked to veterans and others with chronic pain and we should do that I believe should take a step-by-step approach I voted for additional funding for marijuana

I want to research in Congress and I want to see the results of that research and I think that can help states guide them in deciding how they want to address this issue.

Are you open to recreational?

We're going to start with medicinal.

And then we'll take a step-by-step approach.

Mr. Crawley, you said you support full legalization.

What guardrails, if any, would you mandate in statewide legislation?

Well, one, we have to make sure that we have guardrails in place.

We have to protect our children.

We want to make sure that all of the labels are clearly identifiable, making sure that people know exactly what's in their product.

And we have to go towards full legalization because this is opportunity that we're missing out on as a state.

Look, Governor Pritzker literally thinks Wisconsin residents, because they have made $30 million

and sales tax collection just from Wisconsin residents.

If we were to go to full legalization, we could bring in anywhere between 80 to $170 million, helping to invest in health care all across the state of Wisconsin without allowing our money, nor these opportunities to go to Illinois, Minnesota, or

Michigan.

All right, so when we return, we'll go to our True Talk text lines.

Also, we will discuss what's your thoughts.

on both candidates position on the legalization of marijuana.

One appears to just say, only medicinal.

Start with medicinal.

And then the other is saying, hey, if we're going to do it, we losing a lot of money.

So

if we're going to do it, we might as well do it.

Yep.

Ain't that what Confession said?

If I'm going to say it all, I can't sing.

We gotta take care of some bills.

Yeah, I'm not gonna watch him.

He does Oh,

come on now.

I'd be all in front of the TV.

Let's go.

Absolutely.

We're talking about the debate last night.

What is the poll numbers looking like

of how many

people actually got to watch it?

Let's see.

No, it was

overwhelmingly no.

Did you watch the debate?

35% said yes and 65% said no.

That's why we hear y'all.

That's why we plan these clips that let you hear it yourself and you can make your choices and decisions on who responded best.

Absolutely.

We got

Dr. Ford on our true text lines.

Great morning.

Love you.

Appreciate you, Dr. Ford.

First and foremost, did you get to watch the debate?

And if

so,

what's your thoughts or opinions on it?

Yeah, well for those who didn't watch I'll give you the quiz notes.

Let's go Let's

go

let's go David Crowley body Tom Tiffany hang

on I want you to get right hang on I want you dr. Ford I want you to get ready to say that and I need these round applause

Right

after you say it.

Okay, so repeat first of all go ahead first of all good

First of all David Crowley bodies Tom Tiffany He did it by showing up prepared right standing on the fact talking about Wisconsin what Wisconsin families actually need and that's healthcare education housing, right?

probably gave us plans as he's been giving us this entire time.

That concept of a plan that Tom Tiffany has been floating, right?

Tom Tiffany essentially has been a mouthpiece for the federal administration and they don't have any plans.

Secondly, to me.

Tom Tiffany almost looked like he was in convenience to be there, right?

A couple of couple of questions that he got, he almost rolled his eyes, right?

Like answering the questions was doing a favor for us, right?

Right, right.

When you are asking, right?

When you're asking to leave this state, answering hard questions comes with the job.

What is your plan?

How do you how are you going to make health care affordable, right?

How

will you support our schools?

How are you going to keep a roof over our families heads in the state of Wisconsin, right?

Uh, as an emergency doctor, I need answers that mean something for my patients or my patients can't afford concepts of a plan when they go to pick up their prescriptions or try to pay their healthcare bills.

And then finally, the last thing that I got, one of the most important things was we finally got an admission that he attended to overturn the 2020 election, right?

Yeah.

You know, he pointed to the fact that Zuckerberg was the reason.

So the private election money that was coming from Mark Zuckerberg was his reason for supporting the effort to overturn the election, which is laughable, right?

And then we know three billionaires at the very

least.

Three billionaires are providing millions of dollars to his campaign, you know, and he's going to be beholden to them, right?

Yeah, Wisconsin cannot buy this spin.

They can't buy this game.

Believe you guys, believe your ears.

Judge the answer that you heard and for me last night made the choice very clear that Tom Tiffany is not the answer was confident David Crowley is the only way forward.

Where do

I pause

that?

Okay.

Exactly.

Come on out.

Let's get it.

That's all I'm

saying.

That's all I'm saying.

That's all I'm saying.

No

lies detected, Dr. CJ for a man.

And you know, we love you.

Appreciate you and respect you highly.

Um, and, and, you know, thank you for all you do and

Definitely, you're informative in your information, man.

You like me, but like, let me get the receipts.

I

got receipts for the information that I disseminated.

You know what I'm

saying?

So there's hearsay and then there's receipts.

Yes.

So

yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Thank you, Dr.

CJ Ford.

We love you.

Appreciate

you, man.

Um,

but yeah,

like, okay.

Yeah, it's just that part.

It's that part.

Uh, what's another clip we want to play, you know, uh, we'll play that leading up to, uh, our top of the hour and come back and get some more information.

Was it the abortion?

Which, which, what's the time on the abortion clip?

I was at five minutes.

Yeah, that's fine.

That's fine.

And

then we'll go

right to our break after that

and

talk about it after the top of the hour.

So this is the.

OK, all right, well.

All right, so we'll we'll have to go ahead and take care of some bills.

Can we take care of the bills now?

And then I don't know how we want

to do

that.

Yeah, I could because I definitely want to come black into the top of the hour ready to kind of discuss it.

So we'll give them a little time.

We'll just uh sacrifice.

We're

gonna be

late when we come black y'all because I just want y'all to be able to hear this.

I'm letting you know now.

I'm late.

I'm not trying to make no excuse.

Well, I'm gonna be late.

I'm just saying when we return, I'm gonna be late.

Um but I think it's important that we hear this uh clip as well and that we end up uh being able to talk about it

so you

can get through.

Real life thoughts.

We do have a clip ready now Xavier.

Thank you very much.

We're gonna play that clip and then we're going right to commercial break after that

Mr. Tiffany, you've said you would uphold Wisconsin's current law, which bans abortion after 20 weeks.

You've also, though, previously supported stricter bills, including one that banned abortion after six weeks, commonly known as a fetal heartbeat law.

If the legislature passed a fetal heartbeat law and it arrived on your desk, would you sign it as governor?

So a decade ago, when I was in the state Senate, we passed a five-month bill, 20 weeks, officially, but it's basically a five-month bill.

And I voted for that bill?

And it's now the law in the state of Wisconsin, five months.

And when I talked to my constituents, they said, we want you to find a middle ground on this.

We want you to compromise.

And that's exactly what we did.

I stand by that vote of a decade ago, and I will uphold it as the governor of Wisconsin.

So stay the legislature passed a fetal heartbeat law, and it lands on your desk.

You sign it, yes or no?

No.

Mr. Crowley, you're proposing a constitutional amendment asking voters to enshrine a right to abortion in the state Constitution.

Would you sign legislation that legalized abortion with no gestational limits?

Look, I think it's extremely important that we have this constitutional amendment to protect women here in the state of Wisconsin like my three daughters.

I want to make sure that they continue to have access to the same rights that their mother and their grandmother had and keep politicians like Congressman Tom Tiffany out of the doctor's office.

These are decisions that need to be made between a patient

and their healthcare provider, and these aren't decisions that are made lightly.

The reason why we are asking for this constitutional amendment is because you have folks like Congressman Tom Tiffany who celebrated the fall of Roe v. Wade.

Women are holding their breath every four years just to make sure that they can get access to the care to protect themselves, and we need to make sure that we're doing exactly that.

So Bill lands on your desk that legalizes abortion with no gestational limits.

You sign it, yes or no?

There was a woman in Western, Wisconsin.

Yes or no?

No, no.

Let me finish my story.

There's a woman in Western, Wisconsin who had two kids who was getting ready for her third.

She went for her 20-week scan and found out that the fetus had no kidneys, and that fetus was not going to last and was going to die.

When she needed to get access to her care, she had to go all the way to Minnesota because she couldn't get the care that she needed here in the state of Wisconsin.

And if Congressman Tiffany had his way with the decisions that he has made while in Washington, she wouldn't be able to go anywhere and would have had to carry that baby.

We should be, these decisions, these decisions need to be made between a patient and a healthcare doctor.

But these are laws, so if the bill ends on your desk, you do what?

These are decisions that need to be made between

the patient and a health care provider.

I don't believe a law like that would actually reach my

desk.

So my name was used in his comments and he said, women hold their breath.

All you women out there, you will not have to hold your breath when I'm governor.

I voted for a five month bill when I was in the state senate.

I will uphold that law as the governor of the state of Wisconsin.

But we need to find out.

I have been very clear where I stand.

I've given the answer that I'm at five months.

David just dodged the question again.

He refuses to say how many months will he stand for because from what

I was just saying we're trying to get them situated.

So yeah, they'll be up at 830 AM.

Let's see.

What is your truth truth nation?

Again, we just played the clip talking about abortion.

Right

with David Crowley and Tom Tiffany and you heard their answers and their response.

What's your truth on that?

What's your thoughts?

You can call in

eight, three, three, two, one, two, ten, seventeen or text.

That's the true talk text line.

Or of course, uh, on our YouTube page or Facebook page, you can give us your thoughts and opinions on that.

Let's see.

Do we have anything

on our YouTube chat?

Sincere Roddy Ray Reels said weed scottson.

Hashtag that part.

tag facts, tag you gonna learn today.

It probably was cool, calm and collective.

Yeah.

And you know, you and you saw, you know, that that that look that people can have when you're like, why are you gonna lie like that?

Like, you don't say when he had to listen to Tom Tiffany's response.

They're like, why are you lying?

Yes.

Why are you lying?

Yeah, exactly.

You know, and like with the insurrection and stuff like that.

Come on, dude.

Yes, stop.

Yes.

Blake Gump said he put facts on the table and it sounded like no to me about the women abortion thing and the weed.

The numbers don't lie.

Mm hmm.

Yeah.

Oh, MK, you said it's going to be very intriguing to see how they try to spend this debate and even furthermore debates.

David's candidacy as a fluke.

It won't work, though.

He was too sharp last night.

That's what I.

started it out saying that he was that sharp.

Uh, okay.

He said, we just hope everyone continues to get people to the polls and engage the whole tables need to be turned across the state.

What just happened?

I was in the midst of it.

It's okay.

It's

okay.

Keep going.

Let me start over on that.

Lost communication.

Okay.

We just hope this is again from MK.

We just hope everyone continues to get people to the polls and engage.

The whole tables need to be turned across the state and accountability enshrined into law.

Hashtag that part.

Hashtag facts.

OK, so we didn't have audio in there for a little bit.

And on the chat.

Yeah, we know just in general on our.

Oh, OK.

Yeah, we didn't have.

Y'all missed a whole bunch, boy.

It was really.

I'm

talking about sincere Ronnie Ray Reels.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah,

Blake Gump said we want to go vote today or tomorrow proudly all the way Crowley and you can Early voting is going on right now.

Yeah on October 20.

Yeah, absolutely.

Yeah, you got a chance to go We've given you information previously on where those polls are to where you can go early vote Again Sherwin Hughes on the truth with Sherwin Hughes award-winning

True Sherman Hughes was able to go over the different numbers from the first day of early voting which were Amazing and if we keep up with that pace, you know, we're doing good and the day of those who are going out to vote on the day up We need to like we got to understand what's really at stake right and when I say that

It's just like, to me, all the people who are faffo now, who ended up allowing and it wasn't disputed and talking about the election was rigged.

See, when they win, the elections aren't rigged.

They're

there.

Right.

People came and they showed up and showed up.

Right.

So, but we got the orange man for another second term.

You know what I'm saying?

Not black black, but a second term.

Yeah.

And now a lot of those people, especially from.

the polls that they've been taking across the country are saying like, oh, no, no, no, 32 and 33 percent approval rating.

And again, they are leaning heavily towards the Democrats now because they have been faffoed.

They, you know, in every area you can think of, yeah, they didn't found out.

Well, I mean, you know, everybody's talking about how they're seeing Crowley sound across.

Crawley signs

all up

north and on the farmland which is good, but y'all realize I mean these farmers have been complaining and they definitely got the short end of the stick out a bunch of stuff and they don't even have people out there to help harvest You know their food and stuff

orange man is calling this cell trying to do some relief And we should show him that it's too little too late

by going out and voting.

You get what I'm saying?

Because this is what they do.

Let's throw them this and a storm that he illegally talked about giving everybody $5,000 if we all vote for Republicans.

Right.

Every household, every person.

And he's the commander.

and chief.

Right.

Always talking about cheating, but this is the biggest cheater.

That part.

Like, how does that work?

Did y'all get y'all other money?

No, none of it.

Not man down.

And then that original money wasn't really him.

Yeah, it was Nancy Pelosi making him do it.

Right.

So now what?

Y'all believe it's coming?

I know some of your relatives over there.

You

know, I was

just in New York.

I got this bridge.

It's my bridge.

It's your bridge.

Oh, you own the

Brooklyn?

Yeah, I own the Brooklyn Bridge and I can sell you a piece of it.

Hey, you know what?

You know

what else I can do?

What?

You'd think Mozilla is cool.

I can

sell you a star.

What?

You'll never be able to touch it.

Uh-huh.

Everybody in the world can see it.

OK.

But it's yours.

It's yours.

Yeah,

so just

for, yeah.

Just

for

$399.

I'll send you a certificate

and tell

you that that star belongs to you.

Oh, wow.

Then

we got

in Dramada.

We got, you know, you want the Big Dipper and the Little Dipper.

You can own all of that.

All of it.

Yeah.

The big and the little Dipper.

Yeah,

it'll be called the Home of Blow.

Dipper family.

Right.

Okay.

Yeah, just all of them.

Yeah, because some people are really gullible and

Again, the effects of cutting off your nose despite your face is a big, big problem.

Yeah, we got to get ready.

Truth in the morning.

Let's see.

Minister Kevin on the YouTube page said, how are you going to sell the Big Dipper when I already brought

it from you yesterday?

Man.

There's more than one.

Yeah,

yeah.

I

got a lot of them.

I got a lot of them.

No, see, he saw the one from.

Wednesday.

Right.

This is the Thursday one.

You know what I'm

saying?

This is the

Thursday Big Dipper.

M.K.E.

said we are in an era with the richest retirees in the nation from pensions and benefits, rich people, greedy.

They setting it up to take that money by cost, attribute it to care and or.

Little sugar, honey, iced tea fees.

Betty Lewis was

like, yeah, I got sound black.

We got you.

Yeah.

It was a lot going on.

So, you know, we got it together.

We got it together with the sound.

So we got it together.

We get it.

We get it.

Like I say, we were just making sure that we were going to be straight with our guests and all of that.

So, yeah, but we are black.

We are still talking about the debate.

Do we have another short clip that we can play at one of the two minute clips?

We can find one of the two minute clips got us all of you know, I really own point.

Yes,

but I think our county executive David Crowley handled himself very well And I'm glad that he took command when he was like No, you can't night now.

You're gonna hear me

out.

You're

gonna hear this.

Oh, yeah,

you're gonna hear this

rubber.

Oh,

yeah As you should have to

yeah, absolutely.

So Again, he was just he was he was a governor

You

know what I'm saying and he was good to control.

Yeah, absolutely took control and conducted itself in the correct manner.

He didn't break a sweat.

Nope.

He was able to answer the questions thoroughly.

Yes.

And and really break it down.

Whereas

we got from Tom Tiffany a bunch of let me get some water.

He took a whole lot of water.

He had to take a bathroom break after that.

Okay.

Yeah.

Yeah.

We got a clip.

All right.

Go ahead Xavier

those sips are called a fool's sip So when you don't have something to say and you're in a conversation with someone and they're Struggling and they are thinking of something to say they'll take a fool's sip which they'll take a which means they'll take a Yes a long and an exaggerated Long sip of water even if there isn't anything in the cup they'll do that.

I've seen it

Yeah.

How long was the closing statement one?

Is that what you got?

Yeah.

Yeah, you need to hear

this

because when it's time for him,

yeah,

time to because David Crawley went first and then time to be out MKE will definitely try to get to you before I break.

But let's play this clip.

Mr. Crowley, your critics describe you as a liberal, prolific spender, who consistently raises taxes on his constituents.

Why should voters trust what you're going to say tonight, and if elected, you won't just continue to raise their taxes?

Well, I'm proud of my record of being county executive.

Every single year, we've been able to bring down the property tax rate.

We deliver the largest property tax cut in history.

And every single year, we've balanced the budget.

And I did that by working with Democrats and Republicans on a bipartisan level to make sure that we can deliver for our communities.

at stake with this election.

This is about having a governor who's going to work for you, someone who's going to invest in your future, or someone who's going to work for the billionaires that are bankrolling their campaign, or doing exactly what Donald Trump wants them to do because they voted with them 100% of the time.

This is about making sure that every single person in the state of Wisconsin can move forward, and I want to make sure that what I've done here in Milwaukee County and what we've done across this state together, we can continue when I'm the next governor.

Mr. Tiffany, your critics describe you as

as

a mega extremist who has voted with President Trump 99% of the time.

So why should voters trust

what you're about to say tonight,

and won't just have the president's interest at heart?

As a lifelong resident, I will make sure that we are going to do what's right for Wisconsin.

But first, Matt, I just want to say happy anniversary to my wife, Chris, 31 years ago today.

We met at the Thirsty Whale in Managua, been together ever since.

The key issue in this campaign is affordability.

And that's solely what I am focused on at this point is making sure that Wisconsin is more affordable.

There's some things that we can do as governor.

One, we should return all of the $3 billion budget surplus to the people of Wisconsin.

They overpaid into state government.

We should return that money to them.

There's a surplus at the state level.

I think taxpayers out there, they don't have a surplus in their bank accounts.

We're going to end the 400-year property tax increase.

We're taxing people out of their homes.

Young people are not able to afford to be able to buy a new home.

We're going to reduce taxes on the middle income taxpayers of Wisconsin, and we're going to do no taxes on tips and overtime, just like I did federally.

We're going to put more money into people's pockets.

Now, contrast that with my opponent.

And that is one of the clearest contrasts in this election.

He said to you that he believed that higher taxes were not a burden when he nearly doubled the sales tax.

That was the one year that property taxes went down.

He raised the sales tax instead.

Taxes have went up every single year that David Crowley has been county executive.

You know what he's going to do as governor.

Yeah, that wasn't the ending part that the rapper was supposed to.

But again, but.

You know, I get it, I get it, but that ending clip, we

had

that ending clip, you would hear where he clearly ends up stating, I survived the plane crash.

You know what

I'm saying?

He went

right into

the plane.

Like

when it was the

closing

part of the debate

and he's

like, okay, you both got one minute to say this.

and David Crowley had to go first and then it was his turn

and

first thing he brought up was the plane crash.

Yeah, of

course.

Okay, but we're going to go to Al M.K.E.

Great morning, Al.

Love you.

Appreciate you.

Did you get to watch the debate?

Yes and no.

And what's your thoughts?

What's your truth?

I think the debate was, I think Crowley did great.

I think time Tiffany belly flop.

I don't think he was prepared.

And a lot of the things he's talked about, he contradicts himself by the person he represented.

What he talked about, he want to lower taxes.

Well, how can you talk about lowering taxes where the person you promote brag about raising taxes on blacks and Native Americans?

It's a contradiction.

and then when you look at the airplane how he said it was it took the fire department 16 minutes to get there he wouldn't have to worry about the airplane if he would have just jumped on i-31 or i-39 and drove but it was it was a dead end because he he couldn't really come with no facts

so

i just think he was unprepared he knew he knew he was going to lose and i and i feel like

They just put, they put him there to look stupid because every time David Crowley came with some, he tried to come with a comedy attack and then the comedy attack wasn't even there.

But hey, that's who he represents.

So he lost half a good day and stopped using that plane crash because it would have been easy just to get on the highway and he wouldn't have to swim.

But didn't he say he's swim 50 miles?

Right, right, right.

Thank you.

Have a good day.

All right.

Uh, great morning.

Uh, welcome to truth in the morning.

Uh, caller you on the air.

Who's this?

Hey, my name's Charlie.

Okay,

Charlie.

Hey, I, uh, I feel like I'm going to sound like this.

You're out of Milwaukee County.

You're going

to sound

like what now?

But I, excuse me, like an evil, the evil white guy who is not from Milwaukee County.

But I hear you guys all say that Tiffany belly flopped and I really, really wanted to like David Crowley last night.

But he seemed like such a rehearsed politician.

Everything that he said seemed to be really, really scripted.

And when they asked about abortion, like give any details, when they asked Tiffany, he had a number.

When they asked about taxes, Tiffany had a plan.

It seems like Crowley just kind of recited a lot of.

rehearsed things that he planned in the back room, whereas Tiffany actually had numbers and he was unable to answer questions.

And that's really all I noticed.

So

was David Crowley.

David Crowley was straight directing forward.

And if you don't think that when people do debates that they don't rehearse, if you don't think that Tom Tiffany was

not schooled on

what I'm saying, so for you to just say he seemed rehearsed.

So you think Tom Tiffany wasn't rehearsed?

You think Tom Tiffany

kept drinking all of that

water for nothing?

You think when?

I think Tom Tiffany.

What

did you

think?

What are you?

Okay.

Okay, Charlie, Charlie, Charlie.

What was it?

What was his direct

answer?

Hang on, Charlie.

What was his direct answer when the question came up about the insurrection?

What was his direct?

Where was he direct at?

I want to hear that.

It has nothing to do with

what?

No, no, no, it

does.

It does.

How come he wasn't direct?

What?

Was he

direct to you?

What is he

going to have to do with Mr. John?

Well, hold on.

Yeah, was he direct to you?

Yes or no?

No, because he

was

asking a question about the... The question came from the debaters, the ones that were conducting the debate.

Yeah, but as a Wisconsin resident listening to that, I don't care about

what happened in

DC.

It's okay, it's okay.

I'm worried about Wisconsin.

I got to happen in Wisconsin.

I

got

to Wisconsin.

I got you versus like some Trump Trump sucks.

Trump is the worst.

OK,

but so Charlie, if you're saying that, are you saying that Tom Tiffany hasn't exhibited everything that our president.

Exists you know puts out in the universe.

You're telling me he doesn't know You said the orange man sucks so if the orange man What are you saying about Tom Tiffany because everything and every move he's made has been that of

whatever

Nixon and Kennedy had to have a debate like what in the 50s or something and Kennedy won because Nixon had the flu and he had really bad answers like really like I wanted to see a person that I saw on TV and was I relate to that and that makes sense.

It makes sense to my life.

We'll agree to disagree.

We'll agree to disagree.

We will.

We will.

We will.

Thank you.

Thank you.

But yeah, we got to get ready to take care of some bills and we got our guests.

But again, I

To me, this is just my opinion.

That was a delusional phone call.

That was very delusional.

And that's just my opinion of it.

Yeah,

we gotta take care

of it.

I mean, how do you how do you say that the orange man sucks?

And Tom Tiffy is kept from the same

club.

He's taking orders.

He's taking

direct orders from

him.

He's taking direct orders from him.

Listen, you cannot separate the two.

They family, they twins.

It's just is what it is.

Right.

We got to take care of these bills because we have guests coming in.

I'm glad.

I'm sure you'll hear more on the award winning truth with Sharon Hughes.

I'm sure the lunch break with Ray Nitty and

maybe Charlie.

Yeah,

I'm sorry, Charlie, but you know what?

Yeah.

Come on now

son.

You know Halloween is coming up

right?

Well you know.

And what did Charlie Brown get in his Halloween

bag?

A box of rocks.

A bag of rocks.

A bag of rocks.

Alright.

We a willy black.

So listen.

It's all about our pink and blue health summit coming your way on November 14 10 a.m.. To 1 p.m.. At thrive on King 21 53 North Dr. Martin Luther King Drive this morning our special guest in studio from the prostate health equity project Shannon Reed

And a doctor is a good morning, gentlemen.

Good morning.

Good morning, Milwaukee.

Don't be awake.

Let me put some gravy

on these

two prestigious

brothers that

we have

here in

the studio.

Shannon Reed is a community health professional with the Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Center, where he supports cancer prevention, health equity and community outreach initiatives, including the prostate health equity project with a black ground.

community engagement, health care coordination, and program development, Shannon focuses on connecting individuals and communities to the resources, education, and opportunities needed to improve health outcomes.

His work emphasizes building trusted relationships, strengthening community partnerships, and creating meaningful opportunities for individuals to become more informed and engaged in their health.

Beyond his work at MCW, Shannon is passionate about youth development, leadership,

and expanding access to opportunities throughout Milwaukee.

Again, great morning, Shannon.

That's all

depressive,

Shannon.

OK, that's a real

impression.

Yeah, that's you, right?

That's you, right?

I

just need

him not to say it.

Who is Shannon Reed?

He play football?

I need you to know who Shannon Reed is.

He can play

football,

team.

Look

at

him.

And from a family that it just seems like it flows.

Okay.

Black to black.

When you hear Dr. Izard, you got to be like, which one?

So we got to

start.

Dr. Kevin D. Izard MD is a board certified family medicine physician and community health leader with a longstanding commitment to improving health equity.

A graduate of the medical college of Wisconsin, Dr. Izard has dedicated his career.

to preventative care, chronic disease management, and community-engaged approaches to improving population health.

He serves as president of the Cream City Medical Society, where he works to advance workforce diversity and address racial and ethnic health disparities.

Dr. Izard has also been engaged with the community and cancer science networks effort addressing prostate cancer disparities, including serving as the co-leader of the Prostate Health Equity Project.

So this is who we talking about.

Hey, listen, round of applause.

We need to do the applause for both Shannon Reed

and Dr. Kevin.

Absolutely.

We will give our own

two.

Okay.

Oh, yeah.

We put our own in there.

Absolutely.

Let the

church say

amen.

What

are

you doing?

And in case y'all didn't know, you're not watching us on YouTube or Facebook live because we

there.

to strong, well-respected black men.

Yes.

Absolutely.

Hashtag

that part.

Hashtag that.

Yeah.

All right.

So Bailey, what are we talking

about?

So you all are part of the Pink and Blue Health Summit.

Yes.

And one of the main things that in our culture, whether it be breast cancer or prostate cancer, are the disparities.

Can you talk to us about the disparities between us and other cultures?

Yeah, now people have been hearing a little while about this pink and blue sun, but probably wondering what is that about?

Right.

So,

so there's two arms to it, the pink side,

the

women's side,

and the

focus on the breast cancer and the blue side, the men's side.

Now, I actually got involved with prostate cancer a little while ago.

There was a project looking at

health care disparities and looking at specifically prostate cancer disparities in Milwaukee.

And as part of that, we came across this map that looked at, it's a heat map.

So you've seen heat maps.

There's

a

map of Southeast in Wisconsin, red areas are where you have a high incidence of something.

And then you got the blue areas was a low incidence.

So if you look at this map, you can see that throughout Southeast in Wisconsin, we're talking about Walker Shaw County.

Ozaki County, Milwaukee County, Waukesha, I said Waukesha, Racine and Kenosha and Walworth.

Look at those counties and the instance of prostate cancer is pretty well distributed throughout all those counties.

You look at the prostate cancer deaths and they're all centered in Milwaukee and Racine,

which

is where the black folks are.

So the question is,

why is that?

And me as a doctor, someone who's screening guys for prostate cancer,

I have to ask the question, what should I be doing different with my black men?

Now, I'm gonna take a little bit.

I'm gonna try to do it succinctly, but there was a study that was done looking at prostate cancer.

Okay, it's the most common cancer in men.

And it was a 10-year study looking at screening for prostate cancer.

So they took 3,000 guys, put them in this study.

Half were in the study group, half were in the control group.

The control group got the usual care, meaning that they got checked

only if they had an issue.

The guys in the study group, however, got checked every year.

They got a rectal exam, and they got a PSA blood test.

They filed the two groups, but they filed with the guys that got screened in the screening group.

They were more likely than a control group to have an elevated PSA detected.

Not surprising, because they were checking them every year.

They were more likely to, because of the elevated PSA, to get a biopsy done.

Some of the guys got infections from the biopsy, they're retreatable, but they're more likely to get a biopsy related infection.

They're more likely in the control group to be diagnosed with prostate cancer and then to have their prostate removed, and this is where it gets important.

Because they have their prostate removed, they're more likely in the control group to develop erectile dysfunction, bladder incontinence, and bowel incontinence.

And the kicker of all this is that over that 10-year period, the guys in the study group who had all those things

happened to them, did not live any longer than the guys in the control group who did not get screened.

Wow.

Wow.

Yeah, I know.

Everybody said, wow.

And so it was when the information came out and the medical community saw it, they said, wow, this is the same thing.

Right.

And it said, well, a lot of doctors said, well, I'm going to stop screening for prostate cancer because this study showed that screening guys put you at increased risk for having all these other things happen, but it didn't increase your your length of life.

Wow.

And so.

a lot of doctors stop screening, and now we're finding that in the wake of all that, the incidence of prostate cancer is going up again.

So probably what happened is that we know now, and we knew a little bit about that then, is that most of these cancers are very slow growing cancers.

They might sit there for 20 years and never kill you, even though you have prostate cancer.

So we did a better way to distinguish

which cancers are aggressive and which ones are going to sit there for 20 years.

And so if you are diagnosed with prostate cancer, now more likely you might receive what they call active surveillance.

So we might check your prostate, take the P.S.

Let's say, check it again in six months, check it again in a year.

See what it looks like.

If the numbers are high, but they're not going up, we're more likely to say, let's continue to watch it and monitor it.

If the numbers are high and they're going up, then they're probably saying, this is probably aggressive.

Let's be more aggressive with the cancer.

Let's get it out.

So the point of today of the pink and blue summit and this talk on prostate cancer is to educate guys about this whole issue.

So.

What the US prevented there's an organization called the US preventive services task force and they make recommendation about screening tests So things like prostate cancer colon cancer breast cancer those things and mammograms So they recommend they were recommending it before this that every guy should get their prostate checked then after this whole study came out the PLCO study came out They said oh, well, we can't really recommend this because there are clear harms of being in that screening group But there's no clear benefit so but they said

that the doctor should have a conversation with the patient, explain the risks versus benefits, and let them decide.

If they had no signs of prostate cancer and they want to be screened, that's reasonable, go ahead and screen them.

But if they have no signs of prostate cancer, for that reason they don't want to be screened, that's also reasonable, so don't screen them.

So kind of put it up in the air.

But most guys, if you ask them,

We'll say they never had that conversation.

No one ever explained to them

this

whole risk versus benefits thing.

Wow.

And the other kicker did all this and this takes you back to the map.

I talked about the heat map is this when those 35,000 guys are in this study, they were almost all white guys.

Does this apply to black guys?

Because we know that when black people have cancer, when black men have prostate cancer, it's more likely to be a more aggressive type of cancer and it tends to be further spread.

Right.

So.

And I may be saying, oh, it doesn't matter whether you get screened or not.

Does that apply to my black men?

Should we be screening them differently?

Should we screen them earlier?

And that's what a lot of people said.

Instead of screening at 50, we should be screening black men and other people at high risk at 45 or maybe even 40.

So there's a whole lot of information that we as black men need to know about prostate cancer because it is the most common cancer in men.

And it's not the most aggressive one because more people die from.

from lung cancer, pancreatic cancer is a lot more aggressive, but it is the most common cancer

and we need to know about this stuff.

All right, we gotta get ready to take care of some bills when we return, Shannon Reed.

Football player and everything else.

We got all

the

things.

We got all the things.

We'll hear from you.

And again, to talk about just how important this Pink and Blue Health Summit is happening at Thrive on King on November 14th from 10 a.m.

to 1 p.m.

We encourage you to register, but it's not required.

But if you register at 1017troup.com.

you'll be able to get one of our truth swag bags while the supplies last.

So make sure you go and register.

We got to take care of some bills.

I'm the legendary Homer blow along with a girl.

Welcome, Black.

Welcome, Black.

Truth in the Morning on the award-winning 1017 F.M.

The Truth.

We are pleased and honored to be joined in the studio by Dr. Kevin D. Izzard M.D.

and Shannon Reed.

Listen.

Dr. Izard gave us a lot of great information, but you know, sometimes people like, okay, I, okay, I heard this, I heard that.

Can you break some of that down in layman terms to where as you know, just everybody be like, look, bro, this what you need to do.

You should be doing this.

So

I wanted to give you that opportunity,

brother.

It's just some

high-end.

Yeah, just pull the mic.

You can pull the mic towards you a little bit.

I

know sometimes that's just some high-end information that kind of goes over people's heads.

Right.

So I wanted to say really quickly in layman's terms, I know that our African-American men, the rates of death within prostate cancer is twice as high within our black men in comparison to our white men, you know?

And I think that's beyond unfortunate.

So I know through the prostate health equity

project, we actually have the opportunity

to go where the people are, you know?

We actually just had

an event over at Summer of 85, where we're meeting.

Staying in,

Mike.

Staying in,

Mike.

And I know we are currently going to make sure that we have this next event over at Thrive on King, where we are going to make sure that we are making this conversation.

bringing some synergy to that conversation.

As I always like to say, I think it's a more holistic conversation when you have a more familiar conversation.

So when you can actually bring the women into the conversation, the men into the conversation, bring them into the same rooms, I think that's where you start to see the real impact.

And so amidst this pink and blue event, I think that's what we're really gonna see here.

We're gonna have the opportunity.

for the women to join the conversation and get them to understand just as much of the importance as to what they bring to this health awareness, you know, because it doesn't happen without us doing it

collectively.

How hard has it been to, you know, because we hear the importance of why men, especially black men and women in general, we all need to get these checks because we don't hear about that.

How has it been difficult trying to build the community trust around these issues because they're killing us,

right?

You don't understand in a

lot of situations.

So with y'all going around with this project,

you know,

trying to let people know that prostate health equity project and beyond, has it been difficult to get the community to really understand and take it serious?

Like, no, this is something.

We got to do or we gonna die.

Yeah,

there's a whole lot of

reasons why that Why the the death rate for black men is twice as high as white men Some of it may be access, you know, so you don't have a doctor you're going to or you don't place it go Some of it is maybe genetics, you know, so we don't know if there's something that's We're inheriting that makes us higher risk It may be our lifestyle the foods we're eating The stress that's in their life, you know, so all those things are kind of being looked at as possible reasons why

And so I'm looking at again just look at southeast in Wisconsin and look at that map There's something about even when you look at access.

I mean and Milwaukee should have pretty good access now whether you have a doctor's a whole nother thing But you should have pretty good access to these two hospitals,

you know

And we got freighter.

We got a roar.

We got you know, we got all these Places that should be able to treat you, but there's something else going on So that's why we're trying to get that word out because a lot of people aren't being screened

And usually if you ask guys, do you want to be screened for prostate cancer?

First thing to think of is they're getting a rectal exam.

And they say, no, you're putting your finger there.

Right.

And so we're trying to get the word out also now that after looking back at all this stuff, we know that most guys, over 90% of guys who have prostate cancer will have an elevated PSA, that blood test.

And you don't need to do the rectal exam to detect that.

So rather than lose all these guys because they don't want to be screened because they don't want the rectal exam, they're saying now,

Skip that we'll just focus on doing the blood test and in fact during this event you can get your blood tested there right there There's no reason no reason not to do it.

I held connections.

There you go, right?

Yeah, so you'll get your blood tested and you'll know right there whether your PSA is elevated Yeah, there's a whole lot of whole lot of stuff we want to get out to the information

You know, a lot of the men that we're reaching out to, man, they're busy.

You know what I mean?

We take so much time making sure that we're fending for our sons, our daughters, the family and its entirety.

We're trying to make sure that just like Dr. Izer said, we're making it accessible

for

them to make sure that they do actually get, you know, find the places and spaces much like our events that we're hosting.

to show them that, obviously, there are people who are concerned and looking to make that just as accessible as possible

for them.

Yeah, do you think it's a fear factor?

Because, you know, oftentimes a lot of men are stubborn.

Yeah.

And it's because...

If they go in and they get the test and the test shows like, uh, yeah, we need to start working on this right away.

It'd be like, man, I knew I should have went to the doctor.

Exactly.

Yeah,

they'll say, yeah, y'all always

find something wrong.

You know, and women are a whole lot better, you know, women are a whole lot better, but they don't get anything.

They don't take it hurt.

They pinky

finger.

And they going to

see you.

That's all we need them in the same room.

That's true.

And most of the time,

they're setting up the stuff for the guys.

Yes.

Yeah, that is true.

These are all facts.

These are all facts.

You know, um, I had to my two oldest brothers passed from prostate cancer.

Interesting.

Um, very

interesting.

What would you say is the importance of early detection?

Well, we know that if you could, if you detect prostate cancer, well, it's still just in the prostate before it spreads outside the prostate.

Your nine, your five, your survival rate.

They measure survival.

Your five-year survival rate is 90% over 95%.

So you got a pretty good chance of surviving that prostate cancer.

Once it gets out, once it becomes metastatic, your risk goes down.

Now your survival rate is in the 40s.

So you got to get that cancer early.

Other things interesting too, what you told me, you said you're two brothers who have prostate cancer.

There is a connection, and we're not quite sure how

the whole tone of it

between breast cancer and prostate

cancer.

Yeah, my two older sisters.

breast cancer survivors.

Yeah, so

there's a brachy gene

and we know

about we've been looking at that for breast cancer, but guys who have the brachy gene are more likely to develop prostate cancer.

So

there's a connection.

Yeah,

I know that's also why we're making this conversation so vital is making sure that we highlight the importance of family health history.

Yes, you know, yeah, I think that's something that we overlook truly is that we don't

take the time to have these conversations with our family to make sure we get an understanding as to how we were all impacted.

Right.

I know some of us like to say that, you know, we always, specifically in our culture, we can be very secretive.

Right.

You know, Grandma can pass away from something and we'll say, you know, she passed away from, you know, what we like to say diabetes

or sugar or whatever it may be, you know, you know.

And so we

never really quite talk about exactly what those cases look like.

And so to be more preventative, as Dr. Izard is saying, to make sure that we can even say how we can go into these health spaces for ourselves and have more of, I would say, what all the systems and tools needed to make sure that you can better advocate for yourself.

Right, exactly.

And you can only do that once you have the incentive information to say that grandma passed away from breast cancer.

Yeah.

And if she passed away from breast cancer, maybe I should be getting screened for prostate cancer at an earlier age.

Right.

So that's only taken on once you are actually prepared to do so in those times.

And

you know what else is important when we have things like the events like this is that when guys get to talking about their experience and how they have prostate cancer and they're still doing fine, they survive, they're doing okay.

It makes it easier for the next guy who hears that says, okay, this is an end of the world.

And so they're more

likely to go ahead and get screened or go ahead and get treated if they hear from somebody else who's going through the same

thing.
