Truth in The Morning · Fri Oct 9, 2026

Welcome to another edition of Truth in the Morning Live from the American Family Insurance Studios in the heart of downtown Milwaukee.

Bailey Coleman checking in for another edition of Truth in the Morning of what?

Homer, Homer didn't make it in.

Homer wasn't his usual hustling self this morning, Xavier.

You were right.

Yeah, I knew he wasn't gonna make it in today.

He had a little vacation.

Yeah, but you know, I mean, sometimes you need a vacation from the vacation, right?

When you get back, you're so tired, you need to get you a little break in.

That's what happened.

Normally, I'm pretty recharged after a

vacation.

I am too.

But you know what?

Sometimes I need a couple of days just to pull myself back together.

And Homer, unfortunately, had a bunch of flight delays on the way back.

So he's back in town.

We'll see him on Monday.

But yeah, he.

He's had cuz he didn't get it.

He text me.

I'm like he text us in the wee hours of the morning.

Were you on that text?

Yeah,

yeah, that was like what one two o'clock in the morning

It was like one, but

I

was still kind of

you still up.

Yeah, I had a late night last night.

Oh Okay, okay.

No, I wouldn't I wouldn't I got it when I woke up this morning.

So I'm cool.

I ain't tripping.

I mean

Nonetheless,

I'm like

the you know, I'm like the postman.

I'm gonna deliver rain snow or sleep

Oh, there it is.

There you go the postman.

That's that's your new name

I'm

here more

than you guys

You know, I'm here every day Monday through Friday

you

here on the weekends.

No, I'm here Monday through Friday.

Yeah, same here.

I'm here Monday through Friday.

You missed two days this week

Well that wasn't at no cause of my own.

I had to do jury duty.

I'm just saying I don't miss.

If you got jury duty, you will.

Nah, I'll be here

right in the morning.

Okay, okay, we'll see about that.

We'll see about the government.

You gonna reschedule it?

I'm off the list.

I've already had mine, you know, very recently.

Oh, you had, you had jury duty recently.

Yeah,

within the

last two years.

Oh, okay.

Yeah.

So you're not going to be.

Yeah.

Well, you know what?

I don't have to worry about it again for another four years.

They tell me, thank you.

Thank you for your service.

I was like, okay, see you.

Yeah.

So no time soon.

Yeah.

Yeah.

One of our former coworkers in the building, I heard she had jury duty too.

And she was like all in the thick of it.

I was like, better you than me.

She got

accepted to the trial.

I believe so.

I believe so.

Hopefully it was an interesting one.

Yeah, hopefully.

Hopefully.

I didn't get as... Well, if had I gotten as lucky as she was, then I wouldn't be here right now.

So...

Are you in a horror person?

Do you like October?

Little blood and guts?

You know what?

I'm not one of those people.

Oh, really?

I won't even go see a scary movie.

No, that's no

fun.

Yeah, that's fun.

That's fun.

I can't I can't put I can't put that in my spirit.

I can only do like like if it's like a Comedy kind of horror kind of comedy kind of deal something like that I'm pretty cool with and Something like for example something like Medea's Halloween or movie, you know that kind of stuff Okay, I'm cool with that but all that real stuff the chainsaw massacres and all these things

Ain't nobody doing that.

Would you watch a religious scary movie?

One of my favorite films this year was a religious scary movie called The Carpenter Son.

I don't know.

I've never seen those.

Oh, well, you should check it out.

The Carpenter Son.

It's a movie about the Bible.

It's a horror movie as well.

Because, you know, a lot of parts in the Bible are very

horror-ish.

Not in the sense of scary horror.

Yeah.

Then

they made a

horror movie out of one of their Whatever you call it verses or whatever good stuff

I'm sure you would like it.

Yeah.

Well, that's just like okay, so now you know speaking of horrific things that Our government has decided to do a

Or make it so that we can watch they're going to broadcast an execution.

Oh, yeah, we're we're at

You go watch it

Well, what kind of execution is it?

It's he'll be shot.

Oh, really?

Yeah, multiple guns.

What where where is this

at?

Your but your buddy the guy that's headed the military He heads it.

Yeah.

Well, did you see his latest like military kind of

rally he had his so he kind of reshaped the American Eagle and it was resembling a Nazi Eagle, you know, I mean, I don't know if you ever seen like a famous Hitler speech, but you they put up the two images right up to each other and they're basically married each other.

Plus he has a whole bunch of crusader tattoos and stuff like that.

So he literally thinks him fighting Iran is a holy war because he's fighting against Islam.

It's he's a pretty sick person.

Yeah,

and

he's a alleged alcoholic.

Yeah, let's

a very seriously alleged alcoholic.

And if you watch the videos from when, you know, allegedly, Trump was going to get assassinated by the guy at the ballroom.

There were they there was a shot of Pete Hezek and well, like, you know, after the chaos and all that stuff was going on, you know, he was wrenching his jaw back and forth.

You know, I mean,

Yeah.

Yeah, I mean, I don't know if you know what that is.

What is that?

Oh, well, they say people that do that are doing cocaine.

Oh,

allegedly.

Really?

Yes.

Oh, okay.

There you go.

I mean, the last Trump, the last Trump term, there was a big like scandal because the the White House doctor was giving out a lot of prescriptions.

Oh,

Really?

Yes.

Oh, there's a lot going on there, huh?

Well, you know, well, with some of the decisions that are being made, I mean, if you look what has happened in this war in Iran, most of our Middle Eastern military bases have been blown to smithereens.

Yes, under this.

I have I have heard about that.

Yes.

Yes.

So I mean, there's a whole thing about that because they're not even counting some of these deaths at these.

facilities as casualties of war because technically we're not at war right so you know the people have been saying speculating that the number of 23 death service members are a lot higher

oh yeah yes oh yeah and the

crazy thing about this right

since

we're technically not at war

yeah

all those veterans wives and families don't receive benefits

isn't that crazy

Yeah, it's a whole scam.

It is a whole scam.

And they're supposed to be America first.

And you know,

well, me while the ballroom's being built.

Oh, I thought they put a block on that.

The judge, but I'm sure they I'm sure

they're still doing it.

They're they're still over there, you know, we won't hammer too loud.

You know what I mean?

So we'll see.

We'll see what's happening.

All right.

I want to shout out everybody that's on our YouTube channel.

Thanks for checking us out.

Anita Nicole.

Sherita Barry.

Good morning, Dr. Clarissa Lords.

Good morning to YouTube.

Let's see who else is on here.

Betty Lewis.

Good morning.

And I just want Jasmine Jazz West.

Good morning.

Thanks for checking us out right here on Truth in the Morning this morning.

So

Speaking of scary things and we talked about the streaker that we have on the north side of Milwaukee, but you know, is it?

Is it Halloween season?

Is that what it is while we're getting all these crazy things?

Well, they

call it spooky season

spooky

season.

Yeah, so we

got we had the guy coming up from the tunnels that was getting high off the

there you go.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Now we got the streaker going through the street.

You know, I just

I just feel like he's peaceful more.

He's just enjoying the breeze.

He hasn't interacted with anyone.

Okay, well, I got one more for you out in Waukesha.

There is a Waukesha residence started finding

footage of a masked person coming in to their apartment building in the middle of the night and I mean what's going on with the masks and all that kind of stuff

you know they're just being polite they're just trying to hide their identity so you know they don't offend anyone

I mean that's kind of freaky if you look at your footage

you look at your ring footage or whatever and you look on there and you see somebody in front of your building in your building whatever with a mask on and so they're saying what they're saying is is this is this has been they tracked it down and this is like a homeless person out there and walk a shop.

Trying to get warm coming in trying to get warm.

Yeah, it may it makes sense So I had a friend that lived in downtown Waukesha Kind of by like people's place.

I don't

know if you're

familiar with that, but yeah during the winter time the homeless people will come to the Whatever, you know, we know when you press the buttons and you can like talk to people the intercoms

like that

asking people to let a man like oh, yeah downstairs Let me in and stuff like that like

Kind of trick people to let them into the apartment and stuff like that.

So yes, I'm not surprised by the story.

Yeah, they I mean They're but the people walk is y'all there They're horrified

Yeah, no the cops

are up the

cops be honest.

So like again a couple times they got in and stuff like

that

in like yeah I remember once I was going down to the basement to you know throw out some trash in it There was a cops investigating the whole like seeing like oh, yeah, there's a bottle here

Did you see anyone?

Oh,

wow.

Really caught me off guard.

Do you have the footage I sent you?

Yes, we can play it coming back.

OK, we'll play it when we come back from the break.

You're checking out truth in the morning.

I want to one seven the truth Milwaukee Black talk.

Truth in the morning returns after this on 1017 the truth the truth app and streaming live on 1017 the truth on YouTube You are listening to truth in the morning on 1017 the truth the truth app and streaming live on 1017 the truth on YouTube

I Keep waiting for the verse to come in you know

Oh

yeah, I always do

instrumentals.

I know.

It's truth in the morning on 1017, the truth.

Bailey Coleman in Homer.

We'll be back with this on Monday.

Long vacation.

Long route back home.

Apparently had a lot of delays and everything.

I'm sure he'll give us the full recap.

100% on Monday.

Right now he's at the crib sleep.

Getting that extra sleep it okay, so you have the footage you have the Xavier has the Clip that I took from one of the TV stations.

I think it's today's TMG for About the guy in walk-a-shot Popping up or it's a person.

I think it's actually I think it's a female Who is going into different apartment buildings trying to get warm?

They said that it is an unhoused or homeless person That's doing this and so it's one of those things, you know What do you do with that?

Do you just say you can't know entering?

Well, yeah, they don't live there.

Don't you know?

Yeah,

they're homeless

though.

They're just trying to get more It's not like you're dude out here.

There's this maybe they do

They need to call 211 or get some assistance in that manner.

But dude out here is

just streaking down the street.

Nothing.

If you want to let him in your apartment.

No, I'm good.

I don't have an apartment.

Even better, your house.

No.

Yeah, even more

space.

Can't do it.

Can't even do it.

Jesus would do it.

Yeah, he got a different kind of strength than I do.

But go ahead, let's do it.

Let's see it.

We're in the middle of the night while you were fast asleep.

Well, that was the case for people living in this quad apartment on Wisteria Lane in Waukesha.

I immediately checked my ring camera and saw a video of a person.

I was just like, I hit my husband.

I was like, babe, wake up.

I freaked out.

And obviously I was like, we

have.

fire arms in the house.

I was like, grab your gun.

Colleen lives in the building with her daughters and husband.

We're not showing her face out of her concern for her safety.

She shared the ring camera footage where you can see the woman walking along the sidewalk before entering the apartment and going up the stairs.

Colleen says the woman stayed there for about an hour between 150 and 250 a.m.

before leaving the building.

Walkshop police tell me they found the person from that video on Wednesday.

They say that she's a homeless woman who was just looking for a place to stay warm in the middle of the night.

They say that she did.

not have the mask on her when they found her and that they directed her to some resources.

The people who live here know about this now, but say it's still a strange situation.

It's definitely unsettling because if you're just trying to get warm, why do you have a mask on?

I know it's Halloween, but it's not yet and you're it's just a strange situation.

Colleen shared the videos to notify other residents in the area.

It's kind of creepy and horrifying.

Neighbors like Cassandra say they have already started upping safety measures.

My landlord.

I said that he's going to be changing the locks and we're going to be having updated security to prevent that kind of issue.

I mean, if my husband's, like I said, he carries.

So had that happened when we were awake and we saw the ring message, like it could have been a different story.

He would have ran out there with his gun, take off your mask.

You know, it's, it's the scary situation.

Don't do it.

Don't.

Don't walk into people's apartments that aren't your own.

Colleen says they will also be double checking to make sure all the doors are locked at night from now on and that she is relieved that everyone is okay.

In Waukesha, Meryl Hubbard, TMJ for News.

She said her husband had his gat and he was ready to go.

Yeah, just like a white.

They're gonna put your hands up.

Why do they all think they're cops?

Listen.

They do well, they're trying to protect themselves.

That's why they go to the shooting range and get you know The guns licensed and all the things that's why they do all that.

I call it post slave master syndrome That's why they think they can come up to you and check you and like hey, are you supposed to be here or?

Hey, you know what I mean?

I call it privilege

They feel like they have the privilege or the right to do that.

They always feel like they have the right to do certain things.

Sometimes they don't even realize it just comes naturally because that's how they grew up, right?

That's how they grew up.

You know, us?

We're like, nah, I don't even, I don't know that.

I don't know who they are.

And I'm fitting my own business and keep it pushing.

I got time for that.

That's us.

Them they're like, oh, no.

Why are you here?

What's your name?

Haha.

I'm moving in or moving out.

What's going on, buddy?

That kind of deal.

Yeah, they feel like they have the authority to question your existence.

They do.

They do.

Because again, that's what privilege will do for you.

Post-traumatic slave owner syndrome.

I know only 2% of whites or something like that own slaves, but they all benefit.

from the, you know, the institution,

the institution of slavery.

Yeah, that's I mean, I mean, they gave themselves their own, you know, priority, their own sense of, we're better than everybody else.

You know, they did that to themselves.

Hence the white baby boomers.

Oh, gosh, let me tell you something.

My mama told me, listen,

Nobody is better than anybody else and if they think they are they're wrong And you don't have to abide by you know what they say or whatever their deal is it's up to you Will deny said it's sad that none of the people who were interviewed said anything about there being them being homeless you're right

They were concerned about, even after they were told, was the fact that they in my apartment building, I don't know them.

I don't know.

You know what was scary for me though, because that lady went up more than one level of stairs, right?

She didn't just come inside the door to try and get warm.

She went up another level of stairs.

Now you start doing all that kind of stuff, you know, be one thing, even if she just went inside the immediate door, right?

But see, the other part of that is they must have left the door unlocked.

Now, how safe is that?

Well, most apartments in Waukesha, in places outside of Milwaukee.

Oh, they don't have to worry about that?

Yeah, they, they, I mean, I'm being serious.

You can literally walk into most of the apartments.

Like, you know how you, there's like a lock on most of the doors in Milwaukee and stuff like that to gain interest into the apartment building.

Right.

A lot of the places in the suburbs and stuff like that, they don't have the initial

lock.

Well, I bet they will now.

Well, yes,

because they don't want they see people walking in and stuff What is the guy from the north side 41st and chambers or wherever he was come out there to walk a shot Streaking

you might get invited into apartment

Xavier I want you to notice the name of the street It was wisteria Lane that sounds Halloween or boo boo-ish

Halloween is

yeah, are you a scary person?

You don't like being scared?

I do not I don't even You know into that realm I don't like that stuff in my spirit.

It'd be crazy in

your

in me I don't like taking that kind of stuff in

so someone jump-scared you you'd be really mad at them

Probably not I probably laugh at that But I mean all this going to haunted houses and all that kind of stuff.

That's not fun to me

That's not my deal.

Those are not Xavier's in here laughing.

I don't, I'm just not a Halloween kind of, I'm the person on Halloween that I like to be at the crib handing out the candy.

And I was, we got a good crowd of kids that come to the neighborhood, come to the house, like my parents' old house.

I want to be the one to go buy the candy because I want to get the good stuff.

I'm like my dad.

My dad was like that.

My dad would buy these huge candy bars and stuff.

All kinds of stuff.

My mom would be like, why you buy all that?

Just get the little pieces.

So you give out the big candy bars?

Oh, yeah.

Heck yeah.

I'd be like, especially for a good costume.

For a good costume, you got it for, well, a white costume.

We don't have to have a conversation.

And do you decorate?

Do I decorate?

No.

No, I don't.

Perfect opportunity to scare the kids.

Yeah, no.

You know, if there's any Halloween decorations, it's really light and it might be just a little pumpkin or something like that.

I don't go all out with the decor.

Yeah,

I like to do the little signs and stuff like that.

If I had a house I would dress up and pretend that I'm a scarecrow and I would I've seen

that I've seen I've seen such things when I the other part of Halloween that I used to enjoy when my son was little was just taking him out Taking him out trick-or-treating that was those were the good old days You know he'd go out there get his candy on you know and it was fun So I mean that was just you know

It was fun will deny second is expensive now you got that right You got that right you out here paying five and six dollars for a little tiny bag you like what in the world What is happening?

But that was for me Going out and taking him trick-or-treating with all his friends and all that kind of stuff that was fun and Kendall was winning the poop for 18 trillion years

He was one of the poo the outfit go it got but I paid a lot of money for that outfit.

So, you know He got to do what he got to do You know Speaking of none of the people talking about I don't I feel like that is a Statement of where our society is right now people not talking about

you know, oh, they're homeless.

Maybe we should do something to help.

Maybe we should get them the number to the Salvation Army.

Maybe we should, you know, you know what I mean?

But luckily, there were people that cared and the people that went and the officers that went and tried to find the lady who was unmasked when they found her gave her some different resources.

But, you know, people are asking about the mask.

Have you ever realized how warm that can keep your face?

I mean, even the smaller ones that just cover your nose and your mouth.

Yeah, not if you're walking around smelling your unhoused breath.

Come on, Xavier.

Come on now.

All right, we got more to talk about, more we're getting into is Truth in the Morning.

Another edition of Truth in the Mort.

Got to remind you coming your way at eight o'clock.

It is.

What the business is sponsored by our friends that we energies.

So make sure you're there eight o'clock.

What the business is.

All right.

Getting back to the business right here.

I heard this.

I woke up to this last night on CBS 58.

A 20-year-old was killed.

A 32-year-old injured in a Milwaukee shooting in 42nd and Good Hope.

Now, that's a lot, and that's not like superhood over in that area.

It's not super bad over there, in other words.

So I was kind of I was kind of thrown off here and that but Xavier's got the full rundown for us This Okay, okay, so we don't have the clip so I'll read it to you a 20 year old was killed and Another man was injured in a shooting on Thursday afternoon on Milwaukee's north side according to Milwaukee Police Department

The shooting happened shortly after 2 45 PM near North 42nd Street and West Good Hope Road.

Police said two people were shot.

A 20 year old suffered fatal fatal gunshot injuries and died at the scene.

A 32 year old man was also shot and taken to a local hospital for treatment of his condition.

and his condition is not immediately known.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.

Police are still searching for a suspect.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Milwaukee Police Department.

Why are we still dealing with, this seems like some random gun violence.

Well, we're in a nation.

We're a nation full of guns.

I mean, I'm not really surprised by Random shootings happening and stuff like that because I mean living in a nation where education is declining Going on gun ownership is actually rising and You know this stuff will keep happening and it has been happening

Hmm, this is true.

This is true and right now especially

with the young people this is a 20 year old that lost his life right out the gate and our our young people just you know I mean think about it in the recent weeks we've had uh young people going up to each other's schools pistol whipping folk right what else have we had what are the kind of uh youth and young adult crimes that we had going on

in recent weeks.

It's been all kinds of stuff.

Yeah, I mean, anything you can think of fights stuff like that.

Yeah.

I mean, I'm pretty sure if you probably want to solve the case of this murder of this 20 year old and 32 year old is probably go check their social media.

Social media.

Yeah, most of the time these things either revolve around a woman or some social media beef.

You know here's another thing women are getting more bold and Acting like they're men out here fight like this They're out here doing the same kind of stuff pulling guns shooting all the things

Well, yeah, it's gladiator culture

So you figure if it's gladiator culture you might as well just make some money off of it, right

well Why not they're gonna do the violence anyway

Homer said it's Annihilation Island time.

What do you say that?

Do you say that in the comments or something?

No, but I just said he wants to put everybody on the island.

Yeah, I'm not from Ash genocide.

I rather, you know, put some money in people's pockets and, you know, maybe help them economically and maybe that'll decrease the violence.

I don't know.

And I think when when I see

Some of the younger ended people so they might be people with kids and How they're raising their kids It seems like it's just growing because when your kids see all that violence That you're doing that, you know, you you like they don't see that but sometimes they're right there when it happens What are they thinking and are they thinking that this is how life is supposed to be

Well, if you don't know better you can't do better

That's true But then you when you find out that even the people were kids they've been they were kids and They saw their parents going back and forth like that They saw their family members going back and forth like that.

So, you know, some people say well in our generation We didn't do that.

They got it from somewhere.

So aren't these kids now raising the kids now aren't they like the

The babies of the crack era I

Think the crack era was a little bit before who we got out here now.

No, I'm talking about this like they are the bit

I met some adults where I thought Yo, yo, was your mama doing it?

You know what I mean?

Exactly was your mama crackhead.

I you know, I met some people and I wondered that

I wonder that but I think we're a generation beyond that y'all truth nation.

Let me know if I'm wrong.

Aren't we people that are raising kids now?

We're a generation from the crack era, right?

Aren't we

the descendants of the descendants of the crack babies

so more like their grandmothers.

Yeah, they are descendants of Y'all tell me because I feel like

I thought we were beyond that.

833-212-1017.

That's our two talk text line.

We want to hear from you.

You can text us.

I'm going to try and get a listen.

OK, I see some of you guys are texting now.

We just understand it's the whole process with this whole texting thing.

And we'll try to get to all of them.

Oh, here we go.

You knew Al was calling in.

Let's go to our True Talk Tech side.

Al, good morning.

What's your truth?

Well, number one, those other properties right across the street, then if you go to the corner where the Walgreens, you got a lot of low income.

But here's the problem with our kin folks.

A lot of them have given up.

And, and the, and the parenting is totally different.

See, some of, some of you or some of our people, they're not spending time with their kids.

So they leave in the streets to raise their kids.

And so these kids is out in these streets with no real direction.

So they thinking they're going to be the next Don Hooli or Don Callaghan or the corner thinking they're going to push all this stuff.

And then ain't nobody talk to these kids, no type of discipline and on how to.

talk stuff out because some of these parents is buying their children these guns and so they have given it up and don't nobody got no 30 40 50 thousand dollars neither the paying attorney so they throw the kids to the streets and whatever happens happens but I will say this if they started and they have some standards for these neighborhoods

and these children, we will not have them.

That's why when the children start doing bad and their parents is not rectifying them, they should be pushed out of the community and the neighborhood.

If you are living in White Six Bay, you will be pushed out.

It's not tolerated.

If you was in Bristol, Compines or well, Wisconsin, you're being pushed out.

You're not going back home.

So what happened is we have made this stuff normal in our community and it's not normal.

So they need to be

Push out.

We don't care where you go.

We don't care where you live, but you're not going to live here in the zip code.

You got to get your stuff and get the F out.

We don't care.

Thank you, Al.

You always bring a sobering reality to us.

Thank you so much.

If you want to have your say and get in on this conversation, 833-212-1017, that's our two talk text line.

Ms.

Sassy said, these adulteries and these children are indeed the crack babies from the 80s era.

Okay.

You know, I mean, I was wondering, but I thought we were past it.

I'm not really...

Dell Max had two generations of Anita Nicole say yes, Bailey.

These are the lean babies.

They the lean

ones.

I don't know about that.

The lean epidemic was not the lean babies.

That would be more like the opioid.

We are just coming off the opioid epidemic, but that was in the 2010s.

And I guess we would.

It's 2016.

So I mean, 2026.

Yeah.

Because Lil Wayne and them was the lean people one day.

Yeah.

But yeah.

But I mean, not enough people were doing lean to have to afford to be an epidemic.

That's true.

Too expensive.

That's true.

They would they would bootleg and just get the cough syrup.

Right.

Yeah.

So and then you got to think crack era was the 80s.

Right.

So the kids that are born in the 80s.

They're in there what they're late 30s.

Yeah, so they haven't

these are they babies.

Yeah, exactly

Wow Wow

the first generation of the crack babies

Jasmine Gooden said I'm a 91 I'm a 91 baby and I'm 35 Anybody born after 2000 probably is not in that era Jasmine Jazz West said hey

Oh, well, okay.

And then, uh, Jessica Good said, I'm a drug baby, 1991, West Side, Chicago.

Girl, you crazy.

All right.

We got more.

We got more this morning when we come back.

It's truth in the morning, one of one seven.

Hey, don't forget coming your way at eight o'clock.

It's what the business is here on one of one seven.

The truth.

Don't touch that dial.

Sherwin Hughes

Welcome back to Truth in the Morning, hosted by Bailey Coleman and Homer Blow.

Neither one of them are in the studio right now, so I decided to do a brief fill-in.

I don't even know where Bailey went.

Hopefully she'll be back soon enough.

But look, while I'm here, and before Bailey gets back, I want to let you all know that at 9 a.m., we got a real special treat for you.

Governor...

Westmore of Maryland will be in studio with me joined by the Democratic candidate for governor David Crowley a monumental opportunity we have to get insight from the third black elected governor in the history of the United States and Governor Moore could be anywhere in the country campaigning on behalf of any of the Democrats but he is going to be here in Milwaukee campaigning on behalf of David

Crowley

I let you kidnap my show, but wow, that's exciting.

Sherwin Hughes

It is.

I'm looking forward to it.

It's a big deal.

I'm excited and I can't contain myself.

So I said, well, let me mess with Bailey since I'm so restless.

And it's always a pleasure to have you here, Sherwood.

And I'm excited about this.

I heard that David Crowley just received the coveted endorsement of our first and only black president, President Barack Obama.

Sherwin Hughes

A glowing.

endorsement I mean

wow I

Sherwin Hughes

huge

do you have that clip

Sherwin Hughes

means literally everywhere Obama sound like he meant it

isn't it on YouTube or something

Sherwin Hughes

if you go to Twitter if you just type in Barack Obama or David Crowley you're gonna see it flooding Twitter it is a

big, big deal.

Also should

be

Sherwin Hughes

noted that Barack Obama endorsed Westmore

when he first ran for

Sherwin Hughes

governor 2022.

I'm excited that Westmore is going to be here.

I've been following him.

I've been following his story and it's simply amazing.

And that is exciting.

Sherwin Hughes

It is looking forward to it.

Also, I'm looking forward to this election.

I think that the wind is that county executive David Crowley is back.

And I don't know if people will be able to understand the gravity of this moment of David Crowley, who came from very humble beginnings right

here in the city of

Sherwin Hughes

Milwaukee

can

Sherwin Hughes

can escalate to be only the fourth elected black governor in the history of this country.

This is this is huge.

It is.

It really, really is.

And I look forward to this whole moment with you.

This is going to be stellar.

It is and I'm sorry

Sherwin Hughes

I took your show over baby.

Better me than Homer.

At least I let you

Sherwin Hughes

talk.

I love Homer but

damn.

Homer is at home listening right now.

I let her talk all the time.

Sherwin Hughes

Sorry Homer.

That's the

Sherwin Hughes

Homer laugh.

That's the only Homer impression I can do is his

laugh.

Because he does you all the time

Sherwin Hughes

or hold on wait.

I got another ready

Because

Sherwin Hughes

when he bangs his gavel you're always confused as to why he needs order in the studio

Because he said I'd be in here cutting up and see what people don't see

Sherwin Hughes

it ain't an a you cut

But what people don't see is I'm shooting shots across the bow giving him all these looks looking real crazy Adam and stuff And he just is like what wait a minute wait a minute.

He gotta gather his thoughts So, you know when he says I'm stealth, that's what he means, but people other people don't see it It's just me

Sherwin Hughes

you had a whole week without him.

Well kind of

a short week for you Yeah, jury duty you ever done jury duty.

Sherwin Hughes

No, and I want to

you deserve

You deserve to do it.

Sherwin Hughes

I received a questionnaire because I was I think when you receive the questionnaire, you're like a perspective juror.

I

Sherwin Hughes

filled out the questionnaire.

I was like, ooh, I hope I get on the juror because I want a good murder case.

I

Sherwin Hughes

want something real good because I talk about it as content on my radio

show.

That was

Sherwin Hughes

six months ago.

I heard nothing.

Let me tell you something.

Let me tell you something.

You don't want to.

It's a lot.

It's a long process.

But listen.

I mean, I have never been on a case here.

It's so funny because we had a judge on a few weeks ago and we were talking about this and I told her, I said, you know what?

I was almost on the jury on a case.

I was in, I got through voir dire, right?

And we're all sitting in there asking final questions.

So I didn't make it quite all the way through voir dire.

That's when they ask you questions, right?

And to see if you fit.

if you're one of the you know people that they can really trust to be on the jury so the different lawyers ask different questions of you and I was telling her I almost got on and then they asked me if I knew about the case and they started giving some rundown about the case which I said well what was the case and I told her it was about this young lady who had been out with her friends or her supposed friends and she overdosed

and they brought her back instead of taking her to the hospital because they didn't want to get caught up.

They took her back to her house, called her parents, said she was in the driveway.

You remember that case?

It was out in, it was out somewhere.

It wasn't in the city.

Sherwin Hughes

Those are common.

Yeah, it wasn't in the city.

And she said, you know what?

I said, what?

She said, that was my case.

And she said I know because there are certain things that you know have happened and you know She said you were in my courtroom.

I said I was And I said and when I told them that I knew about the case and that I was in the media they were like bye So

Sherwin Hughes

yeah, sometimes being in the media will automatically disqualify which is not fair I'm a janitor.

That's what I tell

people absolutely

You know what?

I wasn't trying to be there.

I wasn't trying to be on the jury, especially that year.

So I just went ahead and put it out there and told the truth.

Yes, I'm a member of the media.

OK, so let's get back to this because I want everybody to check out this endorsement of our own David Crowley by our own President Barack Obama.

Go ahead.

Hi, this is Barack Obama.

I've known a lot of leaders, but I haven't known many like David Crowley.

David's life story is about overcoming adversity, and his life's work is about bringing people together.

Like me, David started out as a community organizer, and he happens to be a girl dad too.

David and his wife Erika are raising three daughters in public schools.

The leader of Wisconsin's largest county, he created jobs and balanced the budget.

And as governor David will fight to make Wisconsin more affordable so that you're paying less at the pump at the doctor's office and less at the end of the month There is nobody better to lead Wisconsin forward.

So vote David Crawley for governor

Listen

Sherwin Hughes

make me want to go vote right now, baby.

I'm about to go vote today

right now.

We're in there.

We are in there We are in there

There's, I mean, who else would you want?

You don't need nobody else's endorsement.

What you do.

But anyway, this is the biggest

Sherwin Hughes

one you could have gotten.

This is the biggest one that he could have gotten.

And congratulations to him.

This is amazing.

Sherwin Hughes

One hour from now,

baby

Sherwin Hughes

Crowley would be in studio with me along with Maryland Governor Westmore.

Looking forward to that conversation.

Bailey,

Sherwin Hughes

you might want to stick around and get you a photograph.

You know what?

But don't be a groupie.

Order in the studio.

Don't be a groupie.

I Well, I'm I'm not a groupie.

Sherwin Hughes

Okay.

I do I

Sherwin Hughes

know

I do I do have a picture with

833-212-1017.

If you have an event, a business, anything like that you want to shout out, hit us up.

Cheryl is up next.

Cheryl, what the business is?

Good morning, author Sheryl V of Coloring for the Soul.

Grief is something that many of us have gone through or are currently going through, which is why I offer a grief coloring book and journal that allows those who don't necessarily like to talk about their grief the opportunity to take their time to color and journal through their grief.

They may be purchased

by visiting my website, which is www.coloringforthesoul.com, which also, if you visit the website, you can sign up for weekly grief emails to also help you during your grief journey.

The books can also be purchased on Amazon under the title, Still Here, Coloring for the Soul in Times of Grief.

And also my other grief books are on there as well under still here.

The stages.

Thank you.

Surel.

Yes, you there.

I'm sorry for mispronouncing your name in the beginning.

Now, adult coloring is a real big thing now.

And some people

don't.

Some people don't realize that.

But adult coloring is a really big thing.

Now I know these were initially children's books, is that correct?

No, I would say the suggested age would probably be like 13 and up.

13 and up, so this is a great opportunity for a lot of people to get in on coloring because that's a way of expressing yourself when you can't

You know express yourself any other way and people deal with grief in all different kinds of ways.

This is a great opportunity for people Now you have a grief email.

Tell me about the grief email Yes, so

every Monday morning a grief email is sent out that provides comforting words for those that are going through grief along with Suggested I would say activities

that can also help those going through grief express themselves more, whether it's,

you

know, setting a time side to remember their loved

ones.

Yes.

OK, what inspired you to do this?

So I myself have gone through grief.

My mom passed when I was 15.

And I wish that it was something that I had available at that time.

As a teenager, you don't really know how to deal with your emotions in the first place.

And

to lose a parent, it was pretty rough.

So I created it.

But the main reason I created it was for a friend of mine who was going through grief, and I didn't really know how to talk to them about it.

So I was like, OK, what's something I could create that they could express themselves through?

you know, through their grief.

And so I came up with the coloring books.

And during the process of creating the coloring books, it helped me deal with my grief.

That's wonderful.

Okay.

Where can people get your book at?

So it can be purchased

on Amazon under the title still here coloring for the soul in times of grief, which is like my main overall coloring book.

And

then the stages of grief.

can be purchased on Amazon as well under still here coloring or still here the stages.

OK, thank you so much for checking us out on what the business is.

Thank you.

All right.

The true shout-out to my guy.

Sherwin for coming down and hijacking my show.

I was literally out.

Y'all know what I was doing right in a cup of coffee, but these things happen.

But it was more, you know, more fun than anything.

I'm glad he was able to step in.

Of course, another great addition of what the business is is in the bag.

We have some other things going here on here in the Milwaukee community that we wanted to.

Discuss and One of those is the headline reads armed suspect on the run After a Milwaukee man was beaten robbed and run over with his own car Your own car We have a we have a clip for you we ready Xavier, okay

Okay Six WTMJ So right down in the middle of the article you should be able to see On that we have footage from a surveillance camera Milwaukee police continue to look for an armed suspect after a 59 year old man from Milwaukee was severely beaten robbed and run over

with his own car.

Imagine that.

It's not enough that they beat you and they robbed you, but they got to run over you with your own car.

Well, it's true.

Timothy Key's cellars was hospitalized with serious injuries following the early morning incident on October 1st outside Warren's Lounge near North 26th Street and West Hopkins Street on Milwaukee's north side.

Surveillance footage obtained by our friends at WTM J show sellers with the SUV outside the establishment before it's driven it's driven away Just after midnight so you go actually Roll over somebody With your vehicle with their vehicle that you're stealing you're gonna beat them up

Catch them off guard beat them up and roll out with a car Really

we probably jumped in front of the car

You think so probably not may have been thrown in front of the car the way these things the way this sounds But not necessarily I mean and I mean it's bad Talk about serious injuries.

I believe so because if you look at the pictures that are even a part of the story

It's horrible

Pull it up

They really did something especially to his eyes daughter tells TMJ for that the family initially couldn't understand the extent of the injuries they were seeing

I Got the picture you

got the picture pulled up If you look at the injuries it would have took some time for somebody to do what they did to him she said

His daughter said his injuries were so extensive that the family initially wondered whether More than one person had attacked him It was so bad.

We thought it was like multiple people.

She said Sellers daughter said her father went to

Went to Warren's Wednesday night for karaoke arriving at around 11 p.m.

She said he was there for approximately 40 to 45 minutes before the events unfolded The family was notified at 2 a.m.

On October 2nd sellers daughter said the family began hearing different versions of what happened All of these stories that we kind of got

were conflicting, she said.

One person told the family sellers had been shoved inside the establishment.

His daughter said they also heard an account suggesting that sellers had gotten into a vehicle with someone and was driven away from the area.

When they were given the rundown, I'm like,

No, something don't make sense.

She said she said those accounts didn't appear consistent with what the family subsequently learned If you know his daughter said if you know my dad He's really not a violent person.

She said he's never he's never like that even

or even been that type of way.

Seller's daughter described her father as a former musician who participated in anti-violence efforts years ago.

She said he continues to visit karaoke events around Milwaukee to sing and promote his music.

That, you know what?

That's a shame.

That's a shame.

You can't go out.

Oh yeah, okay guys.

I'm gonna, I'm gonna let Xavier play the surveillance footage so you can check it out for yourself.

Let's see.

Okay.

Let's watch it.

Let's watch it together.

And we can do a little.

Okay.

So you see him Walking across the street And the guy sneaking behind the car on the side And they just left him on the ground See how that goes

Wow I may have gotten the two people confused because it looks like the guy in the dark the dark outfit that was coming on the back side of the car is the one that's left on the ground I Can't get the full full scope of it, but that's kind of you know That's a surveillance footage and it looks like it's only a couple of seconds long But I

think they skip past the assault part.

Oh They they skip past the assault they had to huh?

Yeah, unless he hit him with one good haymaker and that messes.

Yeah, he's his eye.

His whole face is really messed up.

I, you know.

Why is it that people can't even go to the go to the bar, do a little karaoke and go home safely?

But it was like I said, Homer and I have both talked about the fact that there are certain times, certain areas you just don't go into.

There there's places Where you just won't go I will avoid a gas station Homer said the same thing there are certain gas stations and certain places that you just won't go on the north side and it's because what because of Situations like this.

What if you're by yourself?

You know some people have their guns on them and If this gentleman would have had a gun look at his eye

Just totally hand almost his whole situation It's wet yeah, you know what and that little clip really just it just doesn't do things justice now does it

No, cuz they I mean you would think is the what happened is quick The way you know the way it's edited, you know

what I mean, right?

the dude definitely

took a beating but he also got ran over by the car

he also got ran over by the car so no there's no telling what type of internal injuries that may have happened because of being run over by the car you just don't know and then what you know what i mean so you can't go out he was on chambers now i ain't gonna lie

mean that's deep right not and what it was it 26 in chambers

oh something like that I mean in the low numbers

yeah I mean you 26 in chambers I would find a karaoke someplace else you know if he I'm sure he'll recover and I'm I'm glad that you know they were able to get to him in time and get him some you know

But it makes you go, you know what?

You can't, you just can't, it's just not like it was, y'all.

We just have to, we have to be realistic about it and we have to be realistic about who we are as people, who we are as individuals and whether or not we can go certain places anymore.

And if you could, you know, I was, I was going to a function and I was telling a friend of mine, Hey.

I'm gonna go check it out first.

I'm gonna do a drive-by on it.

See where it's at.

See what's popping over there.

Because I'm pulling up.

If I can't get one of my friends to go with me and I gotta pull up solo dolo, I finna find out the lay of the land before I even get there.

So I pull up on it.

I'm like, all right, we ain't too deep in the hood.

All right.

We can do this.

We can make this happen, but you got to do that.

And you know what?

You may think, you know, you may have been going someplace for years and years, and you know, everybody there and, you know, everything is cool and all that kind of stuff, but it all it takes is that one time for you to go there and something ain't right, right?

And sometimes we can feel it in our hearts.

Something ain't right.

I don't know.

I don't know if I should do it, but we go.

You know It's it's You know you're taking your life in your own hands because you don't know who gonna be there what they doing all of that So you always got to check you always got it, you know people laugh Oh, you pulled up early you pulled up before the event even sure did because I'm going by myself I'm gonna go because I said I was going but I need to know the lay of the land

Need to know what's going on and may change when I get there But at least I got you know some basic sense of what's happening off our two-talk text line at 833-212-1017 Britney Ferguson said sadly the people who did this to the to the elder man was raised by a PW I Know that's right.

I know that's right.

Don't forget if you want to chime in you can also do that on our YouTube channel in our YouTube chats

Okay Jasmine Gooden said the inner spirit will alert you first.

Yeah, it will It will alert you first if something's not right if so, but you have to be able to listen to that too if you just feel like You don't want to go and you don't really know why that is sometimes that's that inner spirit telling you, you know what?

You might want to chill today

Uh, uh, minister Kevin said, I'm feeling some kind of way right now.

I know that's right.

I know.

Del max had 26 and Hopkins.

Oh, so it's 26 and Hopkins.

Okay.

Um, let's see.

Let's see.

Uh, Sherita Berry said that's just messed up.

He did not deserve that.

He did not deserve that.

If y'all had a chance to even just look at the pictures of how they messed him up.

I mean, he wasn't trying to do that.

He was trying to go out and have some karaoke.

You know, do the karaoke thing, have a good time, and that's it.

That's all.

And then you go out to one of your favorite spots.

And that happens to you.

That's, it's just wrong.

It's just wrong.

I mean, come on now.

Would you like that to happen to you?

And then I want to know.

So where was the security at the at the bar?

Where was the security?

Do they have security?

Do they have toy cops?

Did nobody?

Nobody went out to help this gentleman.

yeah

Yeah,

I'm looking forward to Monday.

Yeah So are you are you producing the show?

Oh, no, I only produced the two first shows Okay, I'm out of here.

Then you're out of here.

Okay.

Okay.

So Brother Z will be producing it.

Yes.

Yes.

Okay.

Very good.

Very good.

Very good.

So it'll be a great show.

No doubt got a great producer and a great house.

So we look forward to that

So we were in the midst of a conversation regarding the gentleman who who was beaten outside of a nightclub and then run over with his own car.

I wonder if they found his car.

And you know

what kind of car was it?

Think it was that truck that was in it.

Yeah, I was just wondering what the making model of it.

They might have put they might have took it to the chop shop

Yeah, that's possible too.

Hey, I used to live in San Diego, California They got Mo chop shots out there because it's right near the border of Mexico Boy, that's big business out there.

But they get your car just chop it up.

Yeah all off all the

part Absolutely and don't have a luxury car like these

Mercedes and all that BMWs because those parts are worth even more money.

Oh, yeah, I saw a big operation down in Arizona a couple years ago where the people they say it was cartel activity, but the people were there is pulling up to like these dealerships at night and then they had like the laptops, you know, all the computers are like, I mean, all the all all new cars are basically like computers now.

Right.

So they're going up to the cars with the laptop and just unlocking them and

you know doing their own like uh reprogramming the key right with a new key and then just driving off

right right yeah you know you just you don't know you don't know till you know they get your car the whole thing but we shall we shall see i hope he's doing well but you know when they roll over y'all cars are heavy and if you get rolled over by a car

You can only imagine what kind of internal injuries that could cause I mean it's It's terrible and I'm sure the family is very concerned and everything but Hopefully he gets well soon because that was crazy.

But yeah, the cars and chop shops and all that kind of stuff.

I Is that a big deal here?

Is that a big deal here chop shops and all that?

I'm not too sure.

Yeah,

I know the key boys there.

They're hot thing, but I think they died down, right?

Yeah, they kind of, you know, they kind of quiet.

I mean, they'll still come to steal your key up, but I guess it's not as sensationalized as it was because remember they had that viral Tommy G video with the key of boys and all stuff.

Yeah, they made it more sensationalized.

Yeah, now, you know, they're probably still out there doing it.

It's just not as

Advertise

right not as advertised Yeah, well, we'll see we'll see I think that You know stealing cars is a big deal here Yeah, we know we know about that but again, you know Where was the security from the club?

This happened outside the club, right?

Um, yeah, but you never know how far it was.

The security can only do too much.

Not gonna walk you to your car block away.

Yeah, those are facts.

Those are facts.

But I just, you know, when something like this happens, you just, you know, and then they probably will never catch the person that did it.

Yeah.

And most, most carjackings happen like that unless they actually catch the person driving down the street.

Yeah, but most of the time they'll just drive it to the wheels, fall off, you know, just something messes up and then they'll leave it on the side road and they'll just call you to come pick it up.

Or yeah, they'll call you and then they'll have you come pick it up from the tow lot.

I

mean, if you if you want it back, right?

Yeah, I mean, I was a victim of the KIA boys.

Were you?

Oh, yes, yes.

It was this was like.

What?

Almost five years ago at this point.

Yeah, cuz I was like that don't look like no Kia you driving.

I'm sorry.

Yeah, yeah, it was Happen like five years ago.

Really?

Yeah.

Wow one of our Our previous producers I think she said she might have had her Kia stolen like four or five times I

Don't know might only happen once and then it was they wrecked it.

They wrecked it.

Yeah

So my nephew, not here in Seattle, had his car stolen by a homeless person, an unhoused person, and they were living out of his car.

Interesting.

What kind of car was

it?

My sister told me last night.

It was one of these muscle cars.

Yeah.

said he won't ever buy that type of car again matter of fact he said she told me he said last night and he gonna get him a Toyota Corolla that's his next

I'm but how do you live out out of a muscle car so you probably saw like one of those Camaro's or something like

that it was something like that it was something like a Camaro or something like

that you

know you're doing all right out there he got a couple he got a couple jobs he doing his thing you know you know

you can't you can't live in one of those things

well

They tried and they really messed up the car and

what like

the

interior?

Yeah, it was you know Jacked they had apparently had a little accident on the you know on the outside too and but the interior of the car was

How long was he living?

It had to be a few at least a few weeks if not a month because you know again Finding your car is not the priority, right?

Well, I thought you guys I thought you said you guys got all those

Flood cameras out there.

They do have a lot of flock cameras

Oh, I

don't think that you know, it's a much bigger kind of space out there than it is here Right here.

I like the wilderness when you go out to the woods.

He was he living out in No,

no No, no

living out by Mount St.

Helens.

No,

no, he was not living out by Mount St.

Helens very much a city guy

But

oh,

you know, I don't know if he ever found out where he was with his car, but He just he was living out of it because you know, there's a huge homeless population out there, right?

oh yeah i've been to california i've been yeah so you

see yeah on the west coast it's a big

yeah they got uh that's a whole they got a whole thing yeah i mean i remember i was driving

people always say oh we have homeless here too no not like they got

it no they got encampments yes they have exactly i was out there they they don't have like a

thing attached to like the bus stop yeah a little house yeah like when I was when I was out there they had like dudes dudes had like filing cabinets yeah full of stuff I'm like

sure

and

they have like little houses you know the little houses that you may see on TV or whatever they have a whole they have a bunch of little houses they have people living literally encampments under bridges and stuff like that and they will tell them hey you can't

this okay you can live here from this date to this day and then you all got a move we found a place for you out in wherever and then they can stay there out there the whole encampment like literally hundreds and hundreds of people

oh

yeah they they get free bus passes and they get on the bus and they all go out to where the next place is and they pitch their tents or put up whatever they got

Remember, five years ago, the homeless encampments under the freeway hit down here?

Yeah,

yeah.

What happened to all these people?

That's a good question.

See what I'm saying?

But what happens is, a lot of people will leave here.

If we have homeless people here, they'll leave here.

They'll find a way to get...

Other places where it's warmer and that's one of the reasons that the West Coast has such a huge population of homeless people Is because it's more livable out there even during the winter months because it doesn't get as cold as it does here It's not as bad as it is here.

Oh, so you're saying our officials maybe gave them bus tickets

Well, not necessarily but sometimes sometimes that's what happens when I told you out there

Whoever the city or whatever they find a way to the other they get a bus pass they get whatever and they go there and I'm sure that's what's happening in California, too I mean California has some static ones like Skid Row and all that kind of stuff they that's permanent, right?

They have agreed that that is like okay.

That's where you're at, right?

But other places are it's just different.

Why not just build house?

That's what you would think, right?

But that's not what they're doing

and then that would bring down the cost of all the houses that are being sold right now as well

Well, one of the things that there that they do do and there's a lot of churches out there that are proactive and going out to feed people

and my brother and one of my sisters and one of my brothers had a feeding program for the homeless.

So that's a big deal out there.

But anyway, you know what?

Should we take a break?

All right, we'll be back.

Just want to remind everybody coming your way at 9 o'clock my guy Sherwin Hughes has a big interview yes, he does he's got all kinds of Democrats are running around here doing interviews and I believe one of the first

black governors here in the United States will be with him.

Is that is that correct?

Yeah, Westmore is the fourth black governor of third black governor of third.

Yes.

All right.

So he'll be here.

He's got a really interesting story, everybody.

And so I would miss it.

I followed him for a long time.

And of course, our own future governor.

David Crowley will be in the building as well.

And you know what days my god, so I'll have a problem telling you who I'm gonna vote for I can't tell you who to vote for but I'm telling you and They're gonna get mad at me.

But anyway, so We've been having this discussion about homeless folk or the unhoused lately I was telling everybody that and my nephew probably I hope he don't mind me Telling his truth, but anyways had his car stolen in Seattle

Which is a big thing out there and I'm not gonna name which nephew, but I only have like I think I got four anyway He heads bowed because he bought a muscle car And so someone who was living out of it and like you know messed up the whole interior I think they had a little accident on the outside so he had a lot to do to get his car back to

You know and I still don't think he feels the same minute because he's about to get he said his next car is going to be a Toyota Corolla and um Jasmine Gooden said Toyota Corolla is actually a great vehicle I got an older RAV4 Anita Nicole and uh said um Toyota's last forever

I've had one for many years, recently gave it to one of my children and I want it back.

I see how that goes, you want it back.

I know that's right.

They moved the homeless people, this was Jasmine Jazz, she said they moved the homeless people that we were talking about from under the overpass because they put a pickle ball and dog park in that area.

That's what I know Xavier was asking about what happened to the people that were living under the overpass here in Milwaukee.

And Jasmine said, did you hear that?

Jasmine said that they built a pickleball and dog park there in that area.

I mean, wow.

But what did happen to them?

We don't, I guess that's something we won't ever know, but.

You know just hopefully they help them get assistance which they always say that that's what they're going to do help them get assistance of finding some place to live I know I noticed as I get on the freeway here in downtown Milwaukee
